"Another one bites the dust" was written by the bassist John Deacon and it is their most successful single song in the USA ever. John always mocked the guys because they didn't believe he will write a banger and he did it
Freddie was a huge Opera fan, and fulfilled a dream dueting with Montserrat Cabelle on the song 'Barcelona', which was commissioned for the Olympics in Spain, it was a big hit, and even bigger after he passed. Will never forget the fountains show in Barcelona(during the Olympics). Like a firework display, to this song.
Michael Jackson heard this song and told Queen to release it as a single saying it would be a hit, he wasn't wrong. Another One Bites The Dust is Queen's most successful single selling over 7 million copies.
John Deacon, yup, wrote it with Freddie’s help.Freddie really tried to being John’s vision to life in the way he sang it. John liked disco, among many others genres.
You have to see the making of "One Vision". It is a documentary where you can see how the composition and arrangement worked in the studio. You could see their great friendship and how much of a perfectionist Freddie was, and then "One Vision" live at Wembley 1986.
John did not write as much as the others but his songs are always great. My personal favourite are "you're my best friend", "you and I" or "Spread your wings"
We ALL love Freddie! In the 80s, it didn't matter what walk of life you were taking, everyone loved and respected Freddie. That is why, in his tribute concerts, you see the entire spectrum of people perform & attend, paying their lasting respects to the wonderful Freddie. But, it isn't just in his passing that he received such outpouring if you look at his Aid concerts and those who maneuvered to play with him, just before him, just after him, to be associated as closely to him as they could manage, you also see the full spectrum of entertainers and people. This song was the anthem for every team event, every challenge accepted, every competition. It is a great example of May not demanding to be the front and center of the music, letting Deacon step forward into that role and shine. Yet, May uniquely injected his guitar's presence as an effects-generating instrument, much like guitarists in psychedelic Rock bands often did.
I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who cries when they witness Freddie. I’m going to suggest another big rabbit hole to go down and it’s The Bee Gees. They had hit after hit over 4 decades. They’re 3 brothers. Two of them are twins. Harmonies are crazy. Just subscribed to ur channel.
Nile Rodgers from the 70's group "Chic" loved this song and repurposed it and slightly changed a couple of chords, to create the baseline for the Nile Rodgers produced "Good Times' performed by Sister Sledge in 1979.
Apparently, John Deacon was hanging out in the studio (not recording) with the band Chic for some time in the late 70s in which they recorded their song "Good Times." This inspired him to write a song that was more disco/funk oriented. Thus, Another One Bites The Dust. If you listen to each song, it is clear that Deacond was inspired by Chic, as their baselines share many similarities. Freddie sang this song so passionately in recording that his vocal cords bled. That's how much he believed in this song. Queen didn't necessarily think of this as a single, especially Roger Taylor, who detests funk music. It barely even made it on to their 1980 album "The Game." But after plenty of pestering from Michael Jackson, they released it. And whelp... that pestering paid off. AOBTD went on to be #1 for 3 weeks in the States & is Queen's best selling single. The success of this song was major inspiration for Queen's next album, "Hot Space," in 1982, & well as for MJ's album "Thriller."
Hi Stacey greetings from England 🇬🇧 when Freddie passed away there was a Freddie Mercury Memorial Concert held at Wembley Stadium in April 1992 and this was the Stadium were Freddie gave his greatest ever performance. George Michael sang SOMEBODY TO LOVE as Lead singer with QUEEN at the memorial concert!!! Its an absolutely electric powerful performance from George Michael and an emotional tribute to Freddie and you really should check out this video!
We watched it from the States. When George Michael came out and sang, I thought if anybody was going to replace Freddie, it would've been him. This is coming from a lifelong fan since 1977.
Great reaction again Stacey, I think we all love watching you as much as we do Queen. I’m guessing you’re saving the Wembley 1986 concert for a future watch…it’s the pinnacle of all Queen watches, can’t wait to see you react to it!
This song highlights what an overall talented group Queen was. Freddie, deservedly, gets a lot of attention for his amazing vocals and he was the primary writer for a healthy number of their songs but the rest of the group were talented musicians and, unlike a lot of bands/groups, they were very collaborative with each other and often worked together. The bass is great, the drums are great, the guitar is great. Brian May, the Guitarist, is literally a genius who designed and built his own guitar and holds a PhD in Astrophysics. The wonderful complexity of a lot of Queen songs stem from the fact that Mercury wrote almost exclusively on the piano, and since piano music is rather complicated to transcribe to other instruments, it created such unique sounds and melodies. Some songs I would recommend would be 'The Show Must Go On' written by Brian May about coping with the rapid, and tragic, deterioration of Freddie Mercury and how they were going to go on (it includes what I believe is the last recorded vocals by Freddie Mercury before he passed, for which Brian May wanted to rewrite it to make it easier for the very sick Mercury, but Freddie took a shot of vodka, said 'I've got this babe' and nailed the whole thing in a single take). For some from Brian May specifically I would recommend 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' and '39', the latter of which is literally a rock (with a strong folk vibe to it) song about the effects of General Relativity. Sorry for the long response, love the song, loved your reaction and your cats are adorable!
I would suggest to watch "Queen - One Vision (Extended) 1985 [Official Video]". The part where you can see outtakes of Queen recording this song is my personal favourite.
Another One Bites The Dust second huge hit by Queen which i discovered many years ago while being in high school , this iconic musical number has such a powerful rock music vibes , voice of Freddie with high and low notes are just so epic , Roger by the drums with his own solo is just amazing rhtyhm of drums beat to your years , Bryan just like in every song are killing in such a powerful way with his legendary red guitar , and finally the owner who wrote this cool song which everyone is listening to this day , John Deacon just smashing one of the cooliest base guitar solos iv'e ever heard ❤❤❤❤ for your next viseo , can you please make a reaction to the song which is written by Brian May , it's called Dragon Attack , live performance in 1982 in Milton Keynes ❤️
You need to watch 1981 Queen Rock in Montreal the whole concert. they do Another one bites the dust. Also 1986 at wembly concert. I also love cats and i enjoyed your reaction. Also Queens Tutti Fruitti Medley live at Wembly. You will fall more in love with Freddie and the whole group.
This was Queen's dance track. John and Freddie liked the disco sound coming from the US in the late seventies and this is the result. Another hit written by John. During the "Game" when I saw them this was towards the end of the set.
When this was released in the USA the black radio stations latched on to it thinking the band were black and it topped the funk charts in America for weeks. Now next Stacy....I Want it all....or....One Vision.thanks for the reaction. ❤
It's really nice to see that young people still like this music. 🤗 I experienced a Queen concert live. It was like a wall rushing towards you. Unforgettable! If you really like it emotionally, I recommend “Love of my life” and recommend a pack of tissues to go with it 🖤 Thanks for your videos🙏 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: For me, here are 2 of the best versions of this song ua-cam.com/video/v3xwCkhmies/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/vNsEEvRMtGI/v-deo.html
I love " In my defence" , " I was born to love you" , " Save me" live in 1981, " Love of my life" live 1986 Wembley, " Time(or Time waits for no one}" ," Play the game"," Its a hard life" live...
Queen is great!! You are doing fantastic with your reactions to their music, but there is so much more ahead of you! Your next Queen reaction should be to "White Queen" from the Odeon Hammersmith!
John was in the studio when Chic recorded Good Times. The bass line from that song inspired this bass line. It's a more simple riff, but it slaps just the same.
So glad that you are reacting to another Queen song….. but you really should react to this song live at Montreal 1981…or live at Wembley 1986…..or any other Live version where Freddie absolutely kills this song….as you can imagine. 😊. Always try to react to the live performances of Queen songs….I love how much you not only appreciate Freddie, but the whole band. I think you would like some of their earlier Queen songs like “Liar” live at Rainbow or “White Queen” live at Hammersmith Odeon. Please continue to react to Queen …..I love all of your Queen reactions💕. Thank you.
Takes me back to the Junkyard Dog of the early 80s before The WWF. The Downtown Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans would go crazy when this song started up and he headed towards the ring.
i’m sure someone else has recommended it, but every time i watch you react to them, you talk about the harmonies literally every single time. and i just HAD to comment and recommend the studio version of Somebody to Love; i know you reacted to the Montreal version, but you will love the studio version so much.
Another British singer/songwriter to check would be James Blunt, his lyrics and delivery hit differently and he makes you feel his songs. Some of the his most touching songs are Monsters, The Girl That Never Was, Dark Thought along with Carry You Home and Goodbye My Lover which you would need to see the music videos for them last 2, to fully understand what they are about. Keep up the good work, I`m loving the Queen catalogue...
Oh Racy Stacey, Freddie has been the biggest inspiration in my life since I was 15. Always so great when you do your Queen plays and to see how much you like them. Amazin! Have a super weekend . L
This is my Karaoke song. One of my fave Queen songs and the acapella version shows what a phenomenal voice Freddie had. Oddly enough (this may have been mentioned), when played backwards it sounds remarkably like “it’s fun to smoke marijuana”. Absolute class haha. Freddie you are a total legend ❤ Thank you Stacey xx
The best thing about Freddy isn't even his voice or his stage presence (which were both amazing)... It's his capacity to just pour everything he has into every word he sings. He holds nothing back, ever... there's not a moment, not a syllable sung in his entire catalogue where he's not giving 100% in the moment. That's where the energy and emotion all come from. He was just completely hooked into every song from beginning to end.
in the early 90's in Plantation Florida, this was our prep rally song .Sone of Us Knew Quen from the Highlander movies, the other half form Wayne's World.
The first album that anyone copied to a cassette tape for me was The Game, the album this song was released on. Thanks dad! My cool parents brought Queen and lots of other great 70's bands into our house as they were being released back then. Still have great memories from those days when if someone made you a cassette copy of a new album you felt blessed to have it!
Wow S, your personality and groovy and naughty side really came out in this reaction. Freddie would be proud. Really though, if you hadn't said a thing your body language said it all. Like me, your love for the talent of the overall band, led by the greatest rock and roll showman, it was written all of your face. It was truly a different vibe for sure, very cool I must say. Of course I didn't measure your BAC! 😸🤘🎸
Well done for guessing the writer of the song as John Deacon. You are right Queen are so diverse and one of the greatest bands ever.I love your Queen reactions and like many others i would suggest you react to The Show Must Go On or Who Wants To Live Forever but there are loads of fantastic songs by them to explore. Thanks again Stacey, you are the best Queen reactor ever❤❤
Great, iconic tune, big hit from their great bass player, John Deacon. He is flat out awesome. You need to see John doing the live Liar from 1974, he came right out of the gate as the perfect partner for Brian May in establishing a new style of hard rock excellence. Great stuff, enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
Stcey I apologize for the narrow view of rock music we are allowed in South Florida. we had 5 stations when I came to south Florida in 1987, now we barely have 2. It truly is the region that held you back. but I love the research you have done to not only learn, but keep rock alive. the music I grew up with.
Great reaction Stacey! If you haven't heard that bassline somewhere, somehow...then, sorry to say, you've lived a sheltered life! Just kidding...but John Deacon, bassist for Queen, created this slapping vibe, and it's as infectious as it gets ! If it doesn't get you movin', nothing will! Every dance club in the late 70's would've been playing this. Keep going with this Queen journey! We're here for the ride. Cheers m'lady!
Hi Stacey. You've listened to Innuendo & Bohemian Rhapsody. To complete 'The Big 3' as I like to call them, you should listen to March of the Black Queen. This is from the Queen II album and this is also a real rollercoaster of a song. It already really showed their potential. Anyway love your reactions to Queen, keep up the good work ;-)
I'm surprised you haven't heard this great song before. I suppose we all run in different circles but this song is so very famous. It's like saying you haven't heard of the Beatles....lol. I love that you are opening up to more music.
Devon created the bass riff and everyone loved it so took a lunch break to come back and work on it …. Except Devon forgot over lunch what the riff was 😂. The drummer remembered and saved the universe
John wrote some world-wide known hits but also very good underrated tunes, like "You and I", "Back chat", "Need your loving tonight" and the great "One year of love"
Yes, forgot the very enjoyable "If you can't beat them", with great rhythm and catchy guitar riffs. I consider "Spread your wings" a masterpiece and a super hit 😊
The band wasn't going to release this song as a single because Roger didn't think it was very good. But MICHAEL JACKSON told them "You guys gotta put that song out!" So they did....
Green Day Crowd sing Bohemian Rhapsody Hyde Park, highly recommend, it is a little different but it shows just how loved Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody are in the UK.
Nice. The bassline was written by Bernard Edwards of Chic in the song Good Times. John Deacon acknowledged that he borrowed heavily from it. Bernard’s riff is longer and is designed to be more interesting, John cut it down to bare essentials and arguably made it more impactful by its brevity.
John Deacon wrote this song, and the funny thing is that he wrote the fewest songs, yet.. the songs he did write are arguably some of the best songs they created. Now obviously all of them created A-MA-ZING songs, but Deacon just had a talent for writing incredibly catchy songs and also some of the most beautiful songs. Some of his greatest songs imho would be : Another one bites the dust, You're my best friend, Friends will be friends, Spread your wings, I want to break free, Pain is so close to pleasure, The miracle, Stone cold crazy, and One vision. (he wrote about 18 or 19 songs? let's round it up to 20 give or take 1 or 2 songs) Either way, you can't go wrong with Queen ;)
It’s a great song. It’s familiar because it’s been used to good effect in TV commercials, especially an AIWA car stereo commercial in the late ‘90s. It’s also one of, if not the first songs parodied by Weird Al Yankovic when he was in college in the late ‘70s. His version is “Another One Rides the Bus”.
Good guess, Stacey! Some day soon you should treat yourself to a movie night and watch Bohemian Rhapsody from 2018. It's all about how Queen came together and rose to stardom. The scene about the writing of this song is quite humorous! Thanks for sharing this one.
The Game, the album this song comes from in 1980, was the first Queen album to utilize a synthesizer. Many other bands had been using them prior, but as I stated back then, when it came out, it still stands today that Queen used it correctly for their music. I always hated their use in music, and loved that Queen boasted "No Synthesizers" on their album sleeves until they broke down and did it right. By the way, Stacey if you're reading these, you should know that Freddie never took the music seriously. He had an attitude of just having fun and wanted his band mates and audience to have fun as well.
@@themightybuzzard3088 At what point in my post did I ever mention a synth in this particular song? Quote it for me so I can understand where I went wrong.
Stacey QUEEN LIVE AT THE HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1975 is a must to get you to hear earlier queen tracks.. OGRE BATTLE (TRY FIRST)..... IN THE LAP OF THE GOD'S, SEVEN SEAS OF RHYE, DANCE OF THE BLACK QUEEN ETC. awsome gig you won't regret.
Fun Fact: Brian May, one of the original founders and the frontman after Freddie Mercury died, was one of the lead astrophysicists on the New Horizons probe that went to Pluto. Another fun fact is that Freddie Mercury was a Zoroastrian. There's still around 100k of them around mostly near India.
You surely do have to react to A kind of Magic ! This is the song that made me discover Queen and it is sooo iconic (like everything else with this band) x)
Thank Michael Jackson for this! Freddie didn’t want to release it, and somehow same place and time with Jackson, he heard it and said that’s a hit! And another one of Queen’s legends everyone know!!
Source? The only person I've heard say they didn't think it should be a single is Roger Taylor. (And note that Brian May said "Freddie sang it 'til he bled" because he wanted to express John's vision for the song.)
This was the first 45 record I ever bought (8 years old) and this literally what introduced me to rock n' roll music. I listened to this so many times I had to buy a new record eventually.
2 suggestions for you from Queen "To Much Love will Kill You" there is a Queen version and another by Brian May the guitarist doing both together would be interesting, also "Barcelona" not really Queen but Freddie with Montserrat Cabalero an opera signer was used for the theme tune for Barcelona Olympics back in 80s
Jojo? Then you need to react to the best band ever: Yes - Roundabout. Amazing reaction by the way, you are really smart, I knew from the first time I checked your reactions. Keep the good work 👍😀
HEYYY STACEY! YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO SEE THE LIVE PERFORMANCE AT: MONTREAL in 1981 SASSY FREDDIE WEARING ITTY BITTY SHORT SHORTS, PRANCING AROUND BAREFOOT! YOU ALSO NEED TO SEE: “FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS” LIVE at MILTON KEYNES BOWL in 1982… CRAZY FREDDIE POLE DANCING!
If you haven't yet, you should react to "Green Day Crowd Singing Bohemian Rhapsody [Live in Hyde Park 2017]". Yes you read it right, the crowd sings Bohemian Rhapsody in 2017 before the Green Day concert starts, with NOBODY on stage. It's just... speechless.
John Deacon wrote this after jamming in the studio with Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers from Chic, so that is where the disco/funk influence comes from.
Queen is unique in that has had #1 hits (US hot 100) written by each of its members. The Beatles are similarly unique in that they have had #1 hits (US hot 100) sung (lead) by each of the members.
Like the beat of "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees the bass line of "Another one bites the dust" is recommended by the British Heart Foundation as a guide for chest compressions in CPR.
Ok I'm old ,53, and we used to roller-skate to this song in the 80's and it was awesome!
I'm 60 and automatically think of rollerskating when I hear this song.
And none of us paid attention to what the lyrics were about 😬
"Another one bites the dust" was written by the bassist John Deacon and it is their most successful single song in the USA ever. John always mocked the guys because they didn't believe he will write a banger and he did it
It was Queen's second (at last) #1 hit in the US but it's not the only song John wrote. One of my favorite Queen songs is "You're My Best Friend"
@@arminkhani6136 "Another One Bites The Dust" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" are the only two Queen songs to hit #1 in the states.
@@craiggrundy5056 another one bites the dust was longer number 1 in America that is why I said most successful single song in the US
I think with more than 6 million copies it is also their most successful single overall.

One of the greatest bass lines ever. Brian scratching away on electric. Massive hit.
I believe I read that John played the rhythm guitar also on the recording and Brian added the stronger rifts to it
Actually, it's John on the bass and rhythm guitar in this song. The drum is a loop of Roger Taylor. People forget how awesome Deaky could be.
Brilliant reaction , you didn't just listen to this song you felt it through your body
Michael Jackson heard this song and told Queen to release it as a single saying it would be a hit, he wasn't wrong. Another One Bites The Dust is Queen's most successful single selling over 7 million copies.

This is my Karaoke song. One of my fave Queen songs and the acapella version shows what a phenomenal voice Freddie had.
Oddly enough (this may have been mentioned), when played backwards it sounds remarkably like “it’s fun to smoke marijuana”. Absolute class haha.
Freddie you are a total legend ❤
Thank you Stacey xx
This was one of Deacons big hits for Queen in the US. Loved dancing to this back in the day
queen had some of the BIGGEST Songs in history that are known World wide and still played today and you know rightaway who sung it..
Such an upbeat song, no workout suffers with this on the soundtrack.
First heard this song 23 years ago, as a kid! Great song!
16:07 the cat is like: "Hey... knock that off! Trying to rest here!" 😄
Great, iconic tune, big hit from their great bass player, John Deacon.
One of many anthems by Queen.
Bonjour Stacey ❤!!! Thanks for the vidéo , i lke Queen ,i like Brian May , you are perfect as always , thank you for everything !!!❤
John wrote some world-wide known hits but also very good underrated tunes, like "You and I", "Back chat", "Need your loving tonight" and the great "One year of love"
One Year of Love is totally underrated. You and I is also great.
'Misfire', 'If You Can't Beat Them', and 'Spread Your Wings' also come to mind .
Great song and reaction
Now we NEED a reaction to (for me) Queen's best song, the show must go on
John Deacon wrote one of the most iconic Bass riffs ever, legend...!!!
Please react to White Queen live hammersmith odeon 1975 next. Thank you.
It’s a great song. It’s familiar because it’s been used to good effect in TV commercials, especially an AIWA car stereo commercial in the late ‘90s. It’s also one of, if not the first songs parodied by Weird Al Yankovic when he was in college in the late ‘70s. His version is “Another One Rides the Bus”.
this is my sound system demo song...no matter how loud it got cranked, it rocked.
Good guess, Stacey! Some day soon you should treat yourself to a movie night and watch Bohemian Rhapsody from 2018. It's all about how Queen came together and rose to stardom. The scene about the writing of this song is quite humorous! Thanks for sharing this one.
We are anxiously awaiting your reaction to ...
"Love Of My Life"
, one of the live performances, like the one from Brasil 🎼🎸🎼
The Game, the album this song comes from in 1980, was the first Queen album to utilize a synthesizer. Many other bands had been using them prior, but as I stated back then, when it came out, it still stands today that Queen used it correctly for their music. I always hated their use in music, and loved that Queen boasted "No Synthesizers" on their album sleeves until they broke down and did it right. By the way, Stacey if you're reading these, you should know that Freddie never took the music seriously. He had an attitude of just having fun and wanted his band mates and audience to have fun as well.
There's no synthesizer in this song. Those are piano chords played backwards.
Queen's "Disco" song. John Deacon, being a bass plyer, wanted a cool disco song when Saturday Night Fever exploded.
I would love to take Stacey to a gig and just watch her, getting totally caught up in the music. That would be awesome
YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO SEE THE LIVE PERFORMANCE AT:
MONTREAL in 1981
SASSY FREDDIE WEARING ITTY BITTY SHORT SHORTS, PRANCING AROUND BAREFOOT!
YOU ALSO NEED TO SEE:
“FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS”
LIVE at MILTON KEYNES BOWL in 1982…
CRAZY FREDDIE POLE DANCING!
Thank you Stacey . love that bass line.
Queen | Teo Torriatte (Live in Tokyo 1979 - Remastered) is amazing :)
Finally 🤣🤣🤣🤣 hello Queen 🤣🤣🤣great choice
Michael Jackson convinced the group to release this as a single after meeting backstage at a show
Stacey you must take a look queen 1,and queen 2, sheer heart attack, their earlier albums and in my opinion the greatest queen albums ever.
This album had Queen’s 2 only # 1’s in America. This one, plus their tip of the hat to Elvis, called “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”
Queen is unique in that has had #1 hits (US hot 100) written by each of its members. The Beatles are similarly unique in that they have had #1 hits (US hot 100) sung (lead) by each of the members.
A big number 1 hit for Queen.
One of the first bass lines I learned when I picked up the bass
Freddie barely dressed doing this one live in Montreal 1981. Check it out.
Prepare to hear one of your favorite songs ever 🎶🎉✨️❤️😊👍
Like the beat of "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees the bass line of "Another one bites the dust" is recommended by the British Heart Foundation as a guide for chest compressions in CPR.
Every band seems to have done a disco song back in the day.
