It's just a matter of time before she reacts to it. I watched when the video was aired for the first time on TV the day after he died. Still destroys me whenever I see it. 😢
The day after Freddie died I was driving to first proper job in Bristol, SW England. They announced Freddie had died on the radio and played bohemian rhapsody and radio gaga back to back. I looked around at the traffic lights, and every one was singing along to the radio in time with a tear in their eye. Everyone. Radio had it's finest hour.......
I was in the last class in elementary school, 14 years old and it was probably Monday when we heard the news about Freddie's death. Me, my sister and parents had tears in our eyes as if someone from our family died. You couldn't hate this person. He was a friend to hundreds of millions of people around the world.
He’s remembering & singing about his childhood: First verse: “I'd sit alone & watch your light My only friend thru teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio…” Then fears MTV videos (huge at the time) will replace radio and the next generation will loose ‘something’ Last verse: “Let's hope you never leave, old friend Like all good things on you we depend So, stick around 'cause we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual…” Brilliant. What a song.
@@BrotherChad It seems likely the Buggles' song inspired this to some extent, as it came out about 4 years before Roger Taylor wrote Radio Gaga and was also a big hit.
First of all, NEVER be afraid or ashamed of crying, whatever your gender or whatever is. Music is about emotions, and Queen were masters of conveying those emotions. I have not found a single song by this legendary band that did NOT stir something deep in me, even their silliest ones like "Fat Bottomed Girls". Freddie Mercury was a genuine genius, there are a lot of "myths" and "legends" that will NEVER be confirmed nor negated about him (by deliberate choice), like the story of how he recorded "The show must go on" in one take, after his band mates asked him if he felt like it while literally on his death bed, answering "yeah let's do this", downing a shot of vodka and giving everything while suffering from multiple organ failure. That band changed the world (and themselves) several times, they STILL have a worldwide impact three decades later, everyone on, in and around this planet has at least heard a couple of lines of at least one of their songs without realizing it ... and their lyrics always have several layers of meaning, hitting deep "right in the feels". Honestly, ALL their songs are so good they hurt, most often in good ways, but some just tear your heart and soul into pieces. You really should listen to them all, because they are too beautiful to miss, but be braced, I'm a 50 yo male survivor of PTSD and numerous painful events, and I still cry listening to some songs like the first day I heard them. Stay strong, enjoy life, and enjoy music.

Listening to ‘Radio Ga Ga’ by Queen always takes me back to my childhood. The song is a beautiful tribute to the golden age of radio, and it resonates deeply with me. Like you saw in LiveAid the crowd responded to Freddie and the guys. So many performers can get large crowds to interact, but there was always something special about Freddie and Queen's relationship with their fans. Freddie didn't sing "to" the audience, he performed "for" them, and they knew it and gave back the same love multiplied by thousands.
Roger Taylor was inspired to write this song by his son who was a toddler saying "radio caca" when he didn't like what he heard on the radio. Roger's common-law wife was French so their son spoke french. Caca means poo in french. If you listen carefully the first words of the chorus say "all we hear is radio caca". My favourite lines are "you made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry, you made us feel like we could fly." I love that you are so moved by Queen songs. Don't apologize for getting emotional. Buckle up for another of Roger's best songs , These Are the Days of Our Lives, also written for his children, but also a reminiscing of the life of the band and an emotional goodbye to the fans from Freddie.💔
I've just realised that I'm not the only person who cries listening to Freddie Mercury's voice. It really makes a hole in your heart and goes it through so sweetly, so sweetly
I remember the day Freddie died. The day prior, a press release confirmed his illness but no one was surprised, his fans knew. However, the next day came as a shock to me; I had taken the announcement that his health was failing but not that he was, quite literally, on his deathbed. The press was so cruel, what an evil, horrible way to earn a living. For me, Freddie's death amplified the pain the world had been going through for several years. He wasn't the first celebrated person to die of AIDS and he wasn't the last, but he and Queen were special in my life so Freddie's suffering touched me greatly. The turmoil of those years are difficult to put into words. Lives were slipping through our fingers and there was nothing to stop it; the afflicted were blamed for their own demise. Awful. Fun Fact: Lady Gaga favorite band is Queen and she created her name as a hommage to this song, as well as Queen. Also, this video is based upon the movie "Metropolis", a silent film from 1927. Every single movie that you've ever seen was inspired by this movie. It literally defined that approach to making movies throughout the 20th century. Probably not the best timing in the world from Stacey saying "Wow magical and love it" as the video shows clips of Britain getting flattened during the blitz =(
I agree with every word of yours. This is literally what I feel every time I see and hear Queen. So complicated, so sophisticated - and at the same time so clear and inspiring... 👏👏👏💓
My first concert back in 1977 was Queen in Madison Square Garden. I've always loved Queen the band is GREAT! Freddie's voice cuts right through the heart and ones you feel his voice you never can forget how beautiful it is. Cry hon we all did and still do now and then. Great reaction Stacey. Cheers.
Roger wrote this one. He often wrote songs about youth and nostalgia like "These are the days of our lives" or the hidden gem "drowse" in which he sings lead
It will absolutely break your heart but you should listen to Queen's "The Show Must Go On." Freddie was pretty ill by the time they recorded it, but from what I've read despite being very sick he came into the studio and nailed it in one take and it is his absolute life statement. "Bohemian Rhapsody" may be Queen's masterpiece but "the show must go on" was Freddy's mission statement. It is an absolute tour de Force. And a somewhat related song by Rush "Nobody's Hero" the first verse of which is a reference to Freddy and which is a terrific song in it's own right.
This is my favorite Queen song. I love the bass and synth in the background and the reminiscent, melancholy-ish atmosphere. Again, Lady Gaga said she got her name from this song.
It's so nice to see you grow as a human being by listening to those great songs. Simply beautiful. It's like reliving those experiences from our past, when we discovered them.
This band was on another level of brilliant. His voice stage presence was tuely powerfull. This song does bring out emotions in people it does with me and this song never grows old.
I knew you were going to be taken aback when you saw the hand clapping scene for the first time, then suddenly understood why the audience at Live Aid responded in that way.
It’s so much fun to watch you learning the many reasons WHY Queen’s LiveAid set is WIDELY considered the greatest set in rock history. Your tastes are spot-on. Keep on keeping on!
The way i like to look at it is, Freddie gave it his all in his first appearance and his last. He was always giving us his best that he could whatever the situation.
Real reaction. Appreciate these. A band special to me all my life. Sometimes I box them a way for a bit. Stumbling on your vids has revived it for me. Thank you!!! ❤
the visuals are based on the old b&w movie "metropolis" the lyrics are freddy reminiscing fondly about the time before TV, when people would listen to the radio and get all their information and entertainment from it. the magic of radio was that you had to use your imagination and form the images from what you heard. at the same time, he is lamenting the fact that radio was losing its original sense of wonder, and became more controlled by corporate entities that commercialized and dumbed-down the music for wider audiences, making it more rote and less emotional. families don't crowd around a big radio in the living room anymore. it's a less-intimate experience now.
I saw Queen on stage 1982 in Göteborg, Sweden. Already knew everything about them, but was still totally blown away. Their musicality, diversity and presence!
i think what makes this song so overwhelming is that there's an unspoken connotation of family, home. "someone still loves you" is not only a nostalgic look back at the times when radio was technically the state of the art for information and entertainment, and teenage years experience. it's also a reference to a radio being the center of a family gathering - with a special nod to the important role radio played for our parents and grandparents (in the 1980s) during war times.
Wow, Stacey. I'm so grateful that you share your emotional journey of discovery with us. You make me relive songs that I've known for 10, 20, 30, 40 years, as if I were hearing them for the first time. Thank you for your amazing channel!
Dont say sorry because your reaction, tears. Freddie and the boys its want, emotion bring up. And after all these year their song still doing. Fantastic. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
i miss Freddie and David (Bowie). feel lucky to have experienced what i did from them both before their passings. loved the emotion, felt like i wasnt alone. good vibes to everybody.
One of my favorite Queen songs. The video uses footage from the epic and classic silent science fiction film “Metropolis”, directed by Fritz Lang. Lang had to create all of the visual effects from scratch since no one had done them before. He virtually wrote the book on how to do movie special effects.
Freddie died when i was 5, and he's been engraved on my soul ever since. His voice and his soul are magical, and whenever I'm watching, i just feel so blessed, grateful, awed, and emotional.
this song is a warning to not let 'real music die' but unfortunately we have almost lost it all We watch the shows, we watch the stars On videos for hours and hours We hardly need to use our ears How music changes through the years Let's hope you never leave, old friend Like all good things on you we depend So, stick around 'cause we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual
This song sounds so nostalgic! Of course, it was a part of my childhood so it literally is for me lol, but it also just sounds so soft and the fact that it's a reflection of the past while commenting on how times change makes it so good. Lovely reaction!
You're crying ,I 'm crying, we're all crying...thanks ,Stacey...love the reaction, you know how hard it is to type through tears...Todd from Ohio...❤❤❤
I remember performing this song in front of around 100 people at a school concert. Everybody clapped to the "All we hear is **clap clap** Radio Ga Ga" part. It was incredible. Please let Queen's music forever be immortal. They are the greatest band in the history of music, in my opinion respectively.
One of my favourite reactions from you Stacey. When I saw the tag, I just thought about the clapping and you'll connect with the liveaid show, but as you went on, you got them even more. It's one of the best rabbit holes you will ever go down. Don't apologise for connecting with the music; I find that's the whole point of it, performance and show. It's what Queen, and particulary Freddie, mastered. He has become legend, and inextricably entwined in music history. We all miss Freddie so much.
The whole Highlander movie is worth watching just for the soundtrack by Queen. The album is "A Kind of Magic". It has "Who Wants to Live Forever", "One Year of Love", "I Want it All", "A Kind of Magic", "One Vision"... being a movie score it's somehow different from other works but it also showcases how versatile they were.
I want it all was much later but epic song....highlander is still easily one of the most creative films ever with the best cast. Deffo worth watching. Who wants to live forever is easily one of the best songs ever
@@ianjonas7380The album is A Kind of Magic, and while it's sort of the soundtrack of Highlander, not all songs are in the movie. One vision is actually track 1 of the album. But yeah it was used in Iron Eagle, and was not featured in Highlander.
Who wants to live forever is my favourite Queen song of all time so I'm really hoping that Stacey covers it with a reaction video although I'm not sure if she would be able to make it to the end of the song without losing it completely.😢
Plus Lady Gaga named herself from this song ! Good reaction. Also, it depicted World War 2, where the radio was so important, informing families of what was happening in the war.
We all have times we get emotional watching Freddie. He always seemed larger than life. Having grown up with Queen his death hit me hard, the world was a better place with him in it. 👑
Thank you so much for all your reactions to QUEEN my favourite band since I was a Child . I'm from Chile , southamerica 🇨🇱 I loved your reactons to Pink Floyd too. 😊
Even the very best music we have today is not anywhere close to on this level. It is insane the level of talent that we lost when did Freddie Mercury died. The brilliance of just the note choices and the simple but percectly arranged chords and how it's all orchestrated together is just so above and beyond genius level.
You got more out of this song and the video than a majority of other reacts that have that watched Live Aid and the video. Queen has been a solid part of my life for as long as I can remember, and this is the Freddie I chose to remember. Yes we lost a major talent too soon but his legend and legacy will live forever!
I saw them on The Works tour in 1985 in Sydney Australia, as usual Freddy had the ~14K crowd eating out of the palms of his hand. When they got to this song, the whole crowd knew what was expected and we delivered.
1991, I was a 20yr old fresh Marine. my teary-eyed mother told Freddie had died, all I said was 'fuck'; she was so upset I didn't even catch hands for cussing around her, that's how devastated she was.
I like your authenticity and emotionality. It's so genuine that it makes me emotional. You shouldn't apologize for anything in your reactions. The world would be a better place with genuine people like you.
No need to apologize, I think something got in my eyes, too! What I really appreciate about your reactions is that you are sincerely connecting to all of this - you know all their names, how the songs fit in their timelines, etc. Another great reaction!
Never a need to apologize, Freddie had a energy and passion about him that mortal man can not explain! I've watched Freddie thousands of times and I still get goose bumps and I can't hold back the bitter sweet tears. Us Queenies know all to well those feelings are about. A pure legend 🌈💙🫶👑🕊
Stacy you bring new life to so many great bands from the past with your channel! Thank you a million for sharing your perspective it’s so heart felt! 🫶🏻💛😊
Metropolis was a silent film so when they found the footage of the film intact they released it in movie theaters with a whole new soundtrack which included this song by queen.
That moment when you hit the chorus and realise via the live experience that Queen invoked interactive memes (no less!) years ahead of the internet, through their videos! A brilliant song and a great album, one of so many.. Whilst my own experience is no unusual it is the case that I've been following Queen since they captivated the 4 year old me with Bohemian Rhapsody. Having grown up with them it's always a joy to share in reactions, especially when it's alongside someone who discovers a similar level of joy. Those reflections of Freddie always come home when you see or hear anything of him.. that aspect is part of his legend and legacy, and he always seemed to just brush it off with a certain nonchalance - I think he'd be both amazed and even perhaps a little embarrassed at how his legacy continues. Worry not, you aren't going to run out of Queen to react to any time soon 🥰
This is the first Queen song I ever hear when my mother bought their works album in1984 and is the opening song. Queen started my music journey, never looked back since, especially when learning to play drums by listening to Queens songs incessantly. Radio GaGa was so much fun to learn. Roger Taylor was my inspiration to pick up the sticks.
This song meant a lot when it came out because at that time Radio was being taken by TV videos. We were so young and were listening to the radio every day and the song lyrics really hit us. This song was a big hit for us during high school time. Until today Radio is our best friend. Thank you Queen for all the good times.
For some reason I love how you are so emotional, and divine at the same time, and how you define your emotions. I was like that when I heard this song like 20 years ago when I was a kid. Now I`m 32. Queen is a wonderful band, maybe the best ever, for me the best ever. And there`s a lot for you to discover for Queen, a lot of songs. About the song , Roger wrote the song, his son was his inspiration. Lyrics are focused on Radio, how the radio was popular item in most houses, but now it`s not, but it will become popular again. But radio is just a metaphor. This song could be about everything, like the better times will come. So I view the song as an optimistic one. :)
Please don’t apologise for being emotional, Stacey. Freddie gave the world everything he had and he is missed by millions. I am a 56 year old surfer and I still cry when I see these images of him. He is keenly missed. Good on you for sharing your genuine feelings, Stacey. Few people are brave enough to cry in public.
Thanks for your reaction, StaceY!!! Before you are done with your journey through the music of Queen don't you dare miss "White Queen" live from the Odeon Hammersmith, 1975!!! It's a Killer - no, wait, that's another one!!
I can't help imagining how much Stacey will cry when she reacts to "Show must go on", knowing it was the last Queen's hit recorded by Freddie, who never had the chance to sing it live because, according to what some people said, by that time, he was very ill and weak, and that it meant exactly what its title says: he (Freddie) was leaving us, leaving this world, but...show must go on! And this is so true that we have nowadays Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor - John Deacon "retired" when Freddie passed away) performing live with mr. Lambert on vocals. Of course, not even close a "new Freddie", but I think he's been doing a good job.
I love what you said: "my Queen era is today, the present day". That's definitely what everyone should be able to understand. Music is timeless. I suggest you to react to "Is this the world we created?" and "It's a hard life", both from "The Works" album. Thank you for your videos.
Not only has it always been my favorite queen song, but the lyrics in the chorus mean the most of any song in the world to m e. "You had your time, you had the power, You've yet to have your finest hour" (Although he is talking about Radio becoming obsolete, It feels very much towards struggling to get noticed for everything I have done, but I wont give up, my time will come)
Stacey! Stacey!! Stacey!!!!! When you say Queen can do anything you are far more right than you know! When you dig deep into their catalogue you will find their capacity to surprise you is astounding!! Just wait . . . . . . .
I watched your reaction to Queen at LiveAid, and Radio GaGa was a phenomenal performance from the band, Freddie had the crowd in the palm of hand, and Lady Gaga was a Queen fan this where her name originated,I have seen Queen live on many occasions in the late 70s -80s, they in my opinion were one of the greatest bands ever and Freddie the best frontman of a band ever, great reaction thanks 🙏
Don’t let Stacey watch "These are the days of our lives" because we’re going to lose her in a sea of tears.

So nice to see you feel that too!
The atmosphere of nostalgia gets me every time.
Queen’s concert’s we’re definitely an experience. I saw them at age 17 in 1977 in Toronto at Maple leaf Gardens amazing!
No worries Stacey, still gets me every time and I'm 60. We all love you Freddie. Hugs from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
the visuals are based on the old b&w movie "metropolis"
the lyrics are freddy reminiscing fondly about the time before TV, when people would listen to the radio and get all their information and entertainment from it.
the magic of radio was that you had to use your imagination and form the images from what you heard.
at the same time, he is lamenting the fact that radio was losing its original sense of wonder, and became more controlled by corporate entities that commercialized and dumbed-down the music for wider audiences, making it more rote and less emotional.
families don't crowd around a big radio in the living room anymore.
it's a less-intimate experience now.
I was going to say that! Memories of a tinny transistor radio searching for pop music..🇬🇧
Stacey you have so many kindred spirits in your enjoyment and appreciation of Freddie and Queen.
His voice and his soul are magical, and whenever I'm watching, i just feel so blessed, grateful, awed, and emotional.
this song is a warning to not let 'real music die' but unfortunately we have almost lost it all
We watch the shows, we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years
Let's hope you never leave, old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So, stick around 'cause we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
It was a tribute song to "over the air radio" when MTV was at it's height and video seemed to rule the musical world.
What's really cool is that everyone in the video are members of the official Queen fan club
I remember seeing this video on tv in 1984, when I was eight years old. The 80's!!!!! Magic years❤
One of my favourite reactions from you Stacey.
One Vision is from the movie Iron Eagle
What a beautiful reaction Stacey..."Under Pressure" live at Wembley is a must..it's superb...🇬🇧
Thank you so much for all your reactions to QUEEN my favourite band since I was a Child . I'm from Chile , southamerica 🇨🇱 I loved your reactons to Pink Floyd too. 😊
Queen presented in Brazil (my country), and Freddy, and all Queen loved the reaction and appreciation of the Brazilian audience.
Even the very best music we have today is not anywhere close to on this level. It is insane the level of talent that we lost when did Freddie Mercury died. The brilliance of just the note choices and the simple but percectly arranged chords and how it's all orchestrated together is just so above and beyond genius level.
Nice reaction. You do know you are an empathic. I bet you get emotional for everything important to you, especially the happy times.
I was 14. I remember seeing it all over the news that night.
I like your authenticity and emotionality. It's so genuine that it makes me emotional. You shouldn't apologize for anything in your reactions. The world would be a better place with genuine people like you.
Freddie was one of the all time great front men.
R.I.P.
No need to apologize, I think something got in my eyes, too! What I really appreciate about your reactions is that you are sincerely connecting to all of this - you know all their names, how the songs fit in their timelines, etc. Another great reaction!
I love this comment! thank you!
@@StaceyRPGReacts If you really care about Freddie Mercury, read the book Virus Mania, he was k.... by Azt
Aw sweetie i just wanna give you a big hug,it's so heart warming to see young people reacting to my youth in such a way.God bless you.
I`m not crying 😢😢😢
It's overwhelming to see your reactions, thank you Stacey, keep on your good work...
You should watch his memorial concert, you will see how many artists loved Freddie and Queen. Get a box of tissues ready you will need them. ❤
Nice going Stacey! Keep ut the good work! 👍 Everyone that has listened to Queen, will shed a tear when they hear Freddies voice!
Extreme did a beautiful Queen medley at the Freddie Mercury Tribute. This song was part of the medley.
we understand Stacey, all I can think of is Live Aid and I feel the same way, there will never be another Freddie, ever
I really miss the 80s when I hear this song. It was such a musical journey during that era!!
Wonderful to see your reaction to this early 1980s Queen track Stacy one of my favorites too im actually crying seeing you crying watching it.
