You are correct. They never performed together live "Under Pressure". In hindsight, they COULD have arranged to do the song while at Live Aid in 1985, as Bowie immediately followed Queen in the play list. But Queen was a late addition to Live Aid and they had already worked out a precise song list to play in their 20 minutes allocated, all songs shortened, to maximise the number of songs they could present. This song has a legend. Queen was working on an album and Bowie with in town and wanted to meet them. They were hanging out, doing...stuff and messing around with riffs in the studio. When they came too from their night of partying they found this recording. NO ONE REMEMBERED RECORDING IT.
Bowie and Freddie go way back before Queen was formed. Bowie was performing at the college where Freddie was a student. Bowie was unknown without an entourage. Freddie offered to help him set up. Later Bowie happened into a shop where Freddie worked. Wanted a pair of boots but didn't have enough cash. Freddie let him have them at a loss.

"Under Pressure" (from okt. 1981) was sampled by American rapper Vanilla Ice for his 1990 single "Ice Ice Baby". Vanilla Ice initially did not credit Bowie or Queen for the sample, resulting in a lawsuit that gave Bowie and Queen songwriting credit.

I like what I read about these two. Being 57, I'm always looking to learn new things. "Freddie Mercury of Queen and David Bowie were friendly but rivalrous, with a friendship dating back to 1972. They were both strong-willed, forceful, and competitive. David Bowie and Freddie Mercury had a fascinating relationship that evolved over the years. They first met in the late 1960s when Freddie was working at a second-hand clothing stall in London’s Kensington Market, where Bowie was a customer. Their paths crossed again when Bowie performed at Ealing Art College, where Freddie was a student. Despite some musical disagreements during the recording process, they managed to create a timeless hit. Their friendship continued until Freddie’s death in 1991, with both artists expressing mutual respect and admiration for each other."
This was a big hit for Queen, only their second #1 hit in the UK. As far as I know David Bowie never performed this live with Freddie Mercury. Brian May recalled to Mojo magazine October 2008. "It was hard, because you had four very precocious boys and David, who was precocious enough for all of us. David took over the song lyrically. Looking back, it's a great song but it should have been mixed differently. Freddie and David had a fierce battle over that.
Phil, you are spot on .... This video is a brilliant creation by some editor splicing Freddie's appearance with just Queen into the base footage where Bowie performed on stage (after Freddie's death) with Annie Lennox, who was snipped out to make it look like Freddie and Bowie are on stage together - but they are not.
Initially, Vanilla Ice did not pay any songwriting royalties for Under Pressure. But the spokesperson from David Bowie and Queen’s camps filed a lawsuit of infringement of copyright laws, after which Vanilla Ice had to pay around $4 million. The clips of Bowie in the light green suit are from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium. For Under Pressure it was Annie Lennox of Eurythmics fame standing in for Freddie and she straight killed it. Definitely worth a watch.
Some fun facts about this song; John Deacon came up with the iconic bass line while they were in the studio, they went out to eat and when they came back he had forgotten it but Roger remembered it. It was Queen’s only actual collaboration ever, but they never performed it together, in the video montage both Freddie & David are performing with Brian, Roger & John but at 2 different concerts, with Freddie at Wembley 1986 and then David joined them for the tribute concert in 1992 to honor Freddie after he died, they never got to perform it all together. Vanilla Ice actually stole this bass line claiming to have come up with it but Queen took it to court and won and now they get royalties from the song Under Pressure live at Wembley 1986 is a must watch performance from Queen, even though it’s without David they are insanely good, Roger does his parts and sings it along with Freddie right after he does an incredible vocal warm up with the crowd, it’s be great if you guys could react to it! As always such a great video ❤

Queen and Bowie were both staying at the same hotel and thought they should do something together. David Bowie watched Freddie and Queen sing in one recording room. He sang his part in his own room. Freaking amazing. The lyrics are still so relevant and this song is timeless. Love this song. ❤
I don't remember many music videos from decades ago but the official video for this is unforgettable. Massive crowds, buildings and a bridge destroyed and an appearance of the original Nosferatu made it fit the music and really stand out.

How can you not see both of them when they pan out on the stage? If they aren't on stage together, someone did great editing, as you can see them interacting with each other from time to time. During the tribute concert for Freddie, Bowie performed this song with Anne Lennox.
The video is a compilation. You will notice that the guitar players are young, and old in different clips. Bowie and Queen never performed on stage live. However, Bowie did sit in when the song was written, and he participated in the writing/performing, and was on the studio album.

Vanilla Ice stole the bass riff from John. They sued him and won. He should of just asked im sure it wouldnt have cost him millions to use it. The 1986 wembly version is a great one to react to. Davids bit was filmed at the mercury tribute that ia why you see queen in the background. Deacy looks so sad during the whole concert, very hard to watch
the baseline was the reason ice ice baby was popular even if they made a compensatory agreement beforehand they would have made millions , and it would have cost vanilla millions
Yep Ice was just stupid...he copied the riff, but if he asked Bowie and Freddie could he use it , it wouldn't of cost Ice losing the case and would of been far cheaper...
You're absolutely correct. The first was Queen live 86' at Wembley Stadium and the one with Bowie and Queen was from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 92' also at Wembley Stadium. It would've been quite something to see these guys perform together but sadly not. David actually did this same song with Annie Lennox at the tribute concert! Loved that too! Worth checking out.
2 of the greatest voices and personas of our times. Sadly missed. Another fantastic collaboration David Bowie, & Mick Jagger, "Dancing in the street" recorded for Live Aid and raised millions of pounds for the charity.
You're correct they never did this together on stage. A fan took the studio version of the song and put together the video from two separate performances. 1986 Queen at Wembley and 1992 Freddy mercury tribute concert .
Nice reaction guys! I love this and so glad that these two greats got together for this. To see some amazing early Bowie from 1972, he appeared on the iconic BBC music show, 'The old grey whistle test' and performed three songs - '5 years' the opening track from 'Ziggy Stardust' along with 'Queen bitch' and 'oh you pretty things' from the previous album, 'Hunky Dory'. Any of these would be well worth reacting to, absolutely stunning performances. Cheers

I don't remember many music videos from decades ago but the official video for this is unforgettable. Massive crowds, buildings and a bridge destroyed and an appearance of the original Nosferatu made it fit the music and really stand out.
This video is parts cut from the Wembley show by Queen in 86 and Bowie’s appearance at Freddie Tribute gig at Wembley in 92
80's was the best era, music, fashion, music videos, and when legends were born
Correct. The Bowie footage is from the tribute concert after Freddie's death. Annie Lennox sang the Mercury part. ua-cam.com/video/fCP2-Bfhy04/v-deo.html
Yes this was for The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992 with David Bowie performing with Queen and Freddie on the big screen singing to their 1981 classic hit .
Such good guys. Trying to save the world through their lyrics. Rock on Freddy and David!
I wish all of these guys would have gotten together and played this live on the same stage. It would have been incredible.
“Cause love’s such an old fashioned word, and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night , and love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves..this is our last dance, this is ourselves… Under pressure”
David's part of this video is from Freddie Mercury tribute concert 1991, and the Freddies part of the video is from Queen at Wembley Stadium 1986
How can you not see both of them when they pan out on the stage? If they aren't on stage together, someone did great editing, as you can see them interacting with each other from time to time.
During the tribute concert for Freddie, Bowie performed this song with Anne Lennox.
This is a great edit.....
thanks for Queen videos@! a long time fan from the early 90es.
Queens Brian May, lead guitarist has a PHD astrophysics and, he also has been knighted by King Charles III.
Totally Iconic. !!
The video is a compilation. You will notice that the guitar players are young, and old in different clips. Bowie and Queen never performed on stage live. However, Bowie did sit in when the song was written, and he participated in the writing/performing, and was on the studio album.
The Bowie vocal is taken from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert where he performed it with Annie Lennox and Queen. You should check that clip out, it’s great ❤
Pretty sure it's just the video
"Dancing In the Streets" David Bowie & Mick Jagger Duo 1985 is a must...........
there is a just a vocal break down by a famous sound engineer where he shows how Freddie and David worked their voice cues to the utmost 1 upping each other. He shows as you stated they chose just the right pitch to back each other up
Vanilla Ice took the bass part from this song which was written in1981and released on the 1992 album Hot Spice
Then made a laughingstock of himself in court trying to prove it was a different bass line. Effing loser.

Stole!
This was a surprisingly effective visual mash up from Wembly and Bowie from the Freddie Tribute Concert which was also at Wembley some years later. Great song, wonderfully performed.
great song, great collab between legends so different in styles, bowie is a chameleon and freddies got great range
High quality music 😎
The actual music video for this song was also really good 😊
Freddie Mercury was the greatest front man of all time.
Looking for your next Queen song to react to? Look no further than the live performance of "White Queen" from the Odeon Hammersmith. I believe it was from 1975 but I may be off by a year or so! Great song and marvellous live performance from the early days of the band!!
I must say David Bowie always had so much class.❤ One blue eye one brown eye what the f***😊
You should check out Breakthru, great video and amazing John Deacon baseline
all time classic! ♥
they did perform this together...a studio version acapella you tube has the audio version two icons and you will never hear pure vocalists like these two collaborating together
Vanilla Ice stole the bass riff from John. They sued him and won. He should of just asked im sure it wouldnt have cost him millions to use it. The 1986 wembly version is a great one to react to. Davids bit was filmed at the mercury tribute that ia why you see queen in the background. Deacy looks so sad during the whole concert, very hard to watch
the baseline was the reason ice ice baby was popular
even if they made a compensatory agreement beforehand
they would have made millions , and it would have cost vanilla millions
Yep Ice was just stupid...he copied the riff, but if he asked Bowie and Freddie could he use it , it wouldn't of cost Ice losing the case and would of been far cheaper...
You're absolutely correct. The first was Queen live 86' at Wembley Stadium and the one with Bowie and Queen was from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 92' also at Wembley Stadium. It would've been quite something to see these guys perform together but sadly not. David actually did this same song with Annie Lennox at the tribute concert! Loved that too! Worth checking out.
That bass line Deacon was just goofing off in the studio with that, and look what it became!!
2 of the greatest voices and personas of our times. Sadly missed.
Another fantastic collaboration David Bowie, & Mick Jagger, "Dancing in the street" recorded for Live Aid and raised millions of pounds for the charity.
I personally love “Dancing in the Street”, but critics then and now continue to shred it.
@@beedeegee9374 I love it, it's a fun piss take perfect for the 2 amigos
Queen GOATs
You're correct they never did this together on stage. A fan took the studio version of the song and put together the video from two separate performances. 1986 Queen at Wembley and 1992 Freddy mercury tribute concert .
No need to be rude.
People know and people don’t.
I love them for sharing the music I love.
Thanks
Keep up good work.
Cheers
