In the old days you would have hare and hounds on British motorcycles in the woods street tires and all. My GSD would escape the house and go swimming. I rode my Triumph 500 Daytona down the dirt trails to the lake. She would then follow me home. Getting down is one thing. Getting up is the hard part.😂
Hi Dave a wee tip for, when I have the brake and clutch levers of, I always put a bit of grease on them there lever pivot bolts, stops any squeaks, and helps reduce wear. Keep up the great work, the wee enfield is cracking with the mods you've done,, look forward to more content. Keep it shiny side up. 😊
Great idea
The adjustable levers make a huge difference in the comfort and riding ergonomics.
Can be bought much cheaper elsewhere, I find Hitchcocks to be overpriced on quite a few things compared to other sellers. Only thing putting me off is they look modern and dont quite fit the asthetics of the bike (IMO anyway) but I do struggle having short fingers to reach the controls comfortably.
Just a tip when fitting the levers. Always make sure the surfaces on the levers and the handle bar pivot are nice and clean. then put a small amount of waterproof grease in the lever pivot hole and surfaces.
Really like this sort of straightforward installation video. Good work.
Just a heads up that if you buy Royal Enfield crash bars, I have the trapezium, you are also given a longer engine bolt. You don’t need to use it if you only fit the bars but if you fit the sump guard too then you need to use the extended bolt. From memory it wasn’t possible to even get the nut on the standard bolt when both the bars and sump guard were fitted. Hopefully this information is of use to some of your viewers 😀👍
Thank you Chris 😊👍🏻
I have just finished an oil change on my Classic 350, sat down for some lunch and watched this video. 😊 Convinced now that I do not need a bash plate as every oil change would require removing the plate then refitting again on completion of said oil change 😂 However the levers looked really well made and a cheap upgrade if you have small hands.
As a side note I am convinced the front sump bolt was the first time it had ever been removed as previous oil changes were done by the dealer. The 1.7 litres Royal Enfield say is needed to fill up was actually just over 1.8 litres, if you watch the RE video they do not remove the front sump bolt. I was surprised how much oil came out when the front bolt was removed. Hitchcocks supply seals and new sump plug washer and oil in a complete kit for £47.😊
Looks great.
The adjustable levers were a great addition to my 350.
The bash plate I don't feel was necessary for me.
That rear rack I installed too, but I hate that look and it's too small to put a tail bag on without a plate, which I did.
So now I have Hepco and Becker c bow mounts and their leather bags. Too much money but I'm happy now.
Good job as always.
A motor cycle lift would be very handy for you, wouldn't be without mine. the bike looks well, expedition ready.
I do have a bike lift 😎
@thebingleywheeler Are you like me, no room to use it.
A bike lift is a game change Bike international in Derbyshire do one £600 well worth the money. No space park your bike on it. Also it can double as a work bench. No more aching knees or bad backs. 👍.
No room and no energy 😂
I reckon the original brake & clutch levers look more in keeping with the classic style of the bike. You would think the likes of RE or Hitchcock ,would have got the Chinese to knock out some classic style ,that are adjustable . As bash plates go ,it’s quite a neat set up & a bit more discreet ,which is ideal for a street type motorcycle . The rear carrier come pillion grab ,being only supported by 4 thin seat / frame bolts ,& no strengthening struts ,appears to be for light load applications , which can come in handy to supplement your pannier racks & luggage . All in all it’s ready to go for a weekend bimble or even longer tour , maybe the addition of a small tour windshield just high enough to take the wind blast over your bonce ,would round the job off nicely. 👍
The standard levers are too far away to give you confidence when wearing gloves ,even with my large hand span they do not reach properly ,not a good design ln my opinion , they look nice but I would rather be sure I can use the controls comfortably and safely.
Morning, having fitted one of those Hitchcock’s rear racks I know that your short sequence hid the hour of swearing, pushing and shoving required🤣🤣🤣
Having said that you’ve done a good job of fitting those accessories to it. I might even invest in the adjustable leavers. 👍
How well you know me Nick yes some colourful language was edited out 😂
Good Morning Dave , good job well done , yeah you can see how hard trying to film under the bike mate , take care & happy easter
And to you Steve 🙏
Its MrT great video I require little info when u took off the hand rail to fit carrier could u let me know if the handrail that's with carrier is it not a little higher much appreciated I have the stealth grey version
Hiya yes it’s about an inch higher and more substantial….identical position relative to the seat hope that helps
Hi - I have the same bike & colour -
imho - looks better with standard leavers.
The bike has a classic ethos & your putting on high tech leavers.
Standard levers not adjustable which causes me problems alas
Informative video thanks been enjoying the uploads thanks.
Do you know anyone has a set of engine guards for a MK1 Suzuki GSF 600 bandit lying about 👍🏻
Happy riding
Hi Dave, great upgrades. Are you going to purchase the high lift cam from Hitchcocks ? I have watched a few videos and doesn't look to to difficult to fit. Its a shame that the 350 is restricted to 70 mph. I was told the South American import Royal Enfield 350 Classic is restricted to 80 mph. There must a way way the ECU can be altered ? I did read the ECU is restricted via the ABS front wheel sensor ?
That’s interesting about how the limiter works….i can only imagine it’s done because of emissions issues….not sure about the cam yet
So, do you have to remove said bash plate to drop the oil etc.? 🤔
You make me nervous handling tools etc near the bike paintwork. I have two old clean bath towels in the garage which I use to cover up bodywork like the petrol tank just in case I drop a tool or slip with it. I learnt this lesson the hard way after scratching the petrol tank on my Yamaha Fazer years ago😢.
Good shout that man! I agree after doing similar previously and regretting it big time
Great video, but why would you need a bash plate on that model of bike??
For off road
Did you have the clutch lever problem that the bike won’t start if lever in #1 position? Due to conflict w grip, because the clutch switch won’t engage. I have to position lever at #2-5 to start, then click to #1 for my small hands.
No Paul I don’t have that issue with mine at all….i know Tiger Ness did but mine is fine starts in gear with position 1
