  • We fit the Hitchcocks Motorcycles Performance Camshaft to the Royal Enfield Classic 350,
    This film hopefully will be useful to anyone planning to fit the Performance Camshaft themselves, and it also covers refitting the Right Hand Crankcase which did not go back on at first! hence a previous film and I would like to thank everyone who got in touch with help,
    There are already another 2 films on UA-cam fitting the Camshaft, the original film by Hitchcocks Motorcycle, here is the link;
    • Hitchcocks performance...
    And easily the best and imformative film by Tiger Ness, link;
    • Royal Enfield Classic ...
    And the person to first bring to light the refitting of the RH clutch casing is Glyn Owen around 28 mins on his film, Link;
    • Part 13 - Engine Pain...
    Glyn was right some folk will scratch their heads at refitting that casing! I knew I did!
    Oh lastly I did not film the 12,000 mile service as previously filmed the 6000 mile service which is the same, so here are links to that service. Part 1
    • 6000 Mile DIY Service...
    And Part 2
    • 6000 Mile DIY Service;...
    Cheers Bruce

    Great film Bruce!! That's really helpful to me, I'm fitting my cam this week and I hadn't thought about the camchain direction tension, will have to watch out for that. I'm terrible at dropping things too so will have to carefully count all the bits or I'll be in shtuck. It sounds really good, and revvy, can't wait to see the ride film, do they recommend a running in period? Yours and Tigerness' films are so good I'll have to think of a unique angle for mine, I'm sure something will happen 👍Glad it all worked out for you

      Three things I take away from this one Bruce...#1 what a great bunch of folk own these bikes. #2 that euphoric feeling when you finally solve a problem that was making your head hurt. #3 that final clip of you ripping down the road , giving it the berries! You simply can't do that on a 140 bhp "naughty boy" bike, and that's why these Classic 350's are such brilliant fun. 😊

    I did the same with my Hunter 350 , DNA air filter , Hitchcock Kent camshaft , got rid of the catalytic converter , and put a Enfield precicion free flow silencer on from Hitchcock ( plus baffle! , work better! and does not make the neighbors angry 😇. The bike runs much better , much quicker if needed for overtaking ( safer ) , sounds better , top speed plus minus 130 km and use a little bit more fuel but that also depens how you ride it , . 😁 . these changes are totally worth it , i love my Hunter 350 this bike is fun fun fun . and i love my Interceptor 650 too this bike is fun fun and faster ,lol ... A good clear video Bruce, I did mine last year and haven’t regretted it at all. One thing you didn’t mention is that the four rocker retaining bolts need to be replaced with new bolts (Hitchcocks have them in stock) as they are single use only. If you put the old ones back in they can work loose.

    Just another one. I'm happy with the seventy-ish mile per hour limit on my Classic. However I quite often struggle to get up to that, at lease on the few roads that warrant 60 -70. It's true that I have quite a large lard content and maybe that's the main problem. But it would be good the know how the new cam performs at the upper end.

    • @Coastriderscotland

    Hello Bruce, thinking of installing the cam in my 350 classic, just wondered is it worth it?
    What do you reckon, does it make that much difference, or is it an expensive add-on for little improvement?
    Would appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  3 місяці тому

      Hi, the cam question and other mods comes up often regarding if worth doing?,
      I think if you can afford more than one bike and/or own a bigger faster bike then i would leave it stock and just enjoy the bike as even stock its fantastic 👍 what i like is the noise of my bike now, and the cam adds a different note,
      But i guess you have to decide how much you want to spend on your bike, and wether your keeping it long term as i planned from first day i rode it, so i have not really answered your question and really only you can decide,
      It has more mid range now but your still stuck with the 73ish mph top speed
