Aye Bruce makes a great difference. I fitted my cam last week and the midrange is transformed. I then fitted the de-restricted ecu and the bike hit a speedo indicated 86 mph 👍🏻
@@Coastriderscotland speak to Tiger Ian Ness, as he was having problems when he tried to fit to his classic. Bobster Grey and Stevie Neilson have fitted. I believe Ian was gonna visit Bobster, and they were gonna fit it to Bobster Meteor, to rule out it wasn’t faulty. Not had an update as to if this has been arranged as yet. So await their findings.
What a great bike for those back roads. The more and more I see your videos the more I want one (just a shame RE couldn't squeeze more out of that 350 stock). Might have to add one to the garage...
The 350 is a great bike that seems to have become loved by its owners for its looks, ability, affordability, and somehow gels everything so well, it seems a lot of owners are happy with its modest power while sone of us want a bit more oomph fir hills etc, Possibly its success is its simplicity in todays world of rushing about, complicated, costly, and shop dependent servicing 😁 Cheers Bruce

I really enjoyed that little journey on the tinkering and these bikes appear to be good for tinkering as the parts are really reasonable…. I think that’s a really good thing with the Royal Enfield they really do suit a modifiers budget. Thank you so much really enjoyed that.

It's definitely an improvement, my mid range is perfect for the engine now, sits very happy now at 60 on a straight, nice enjoyable mod to carry out for the shed spanners amongst us,atb Bruce

Great stuff. I have a Scram and I can vouch for the Fuelx lite. It’s the first mod I did, and it was immediately very noticeable how much better the bike started to pick up from lower revs, which made it much more manageable in traffic. I have since fitted a DNA filter, and some point I’ll likely put a Delkevic exhaust system on too.

It will have the stage 2 filter and the fuelx lite for help plus a Enfield performance silencer. Hope it will "regulate" the power curb with a bit higher power everywhere in the revs (not at 9000 like you 🤣). I understand why you use trail tires on those humid muddy roads. Looking forward to try this ! 😎

As for me and the majority of us. It’s the increase in the torque, for as mentioned going up hills, riding into a headwind, and overtaking will be easier than the usual planned. Which is also safer. Loved the excited answer……OH Yes😂 I like to reply and like all the Enfield UA-camr’s as it helps their algorithm…..bugger that’s a big word.😂 Best wishes.

I'm glad your top end sounded like a bag of spanners too 👍 mine does too after the cam change and I was really careful about setting them (and it was easy because I had it on the workbench). I think the first time they run it shakes it all together and they need doing again straight away so I've got that to do this week. The lift on the cam is very quick, I'm not sure it'll ever be as quiet as the standard cam because it's slamming them open. Yours sounds great though, as always 🐇

Helmet is Shoei EX-Zero It has a built in visor but can take MX goggles, came with no visor but Saltire gave me an Arai bubble visor, With a retro mx square visor the hemet looks line a Bell Moto 3 😁👍 It was not cheap but got deal on clothing when i bought the bike 😁👍
So, a respectable gent's motorbike becomes a hooligans bike. Good idear using the signpost for the camera. Plus watching you and Ness do this mod we can see if the bike blows up or not before we do it ourselves 😉

hi bruce .. i have an indian import classic 500 .. all enfields sound terrible and 125cc tappy ... brake them to factory standards .. then ride them very hard ,, change the oil every 2,000mls regardless untill 6,000 mls..then enjoy them,, only mod ever needed is exhaust and air filter ..
Interesting that your initial impression was that there was a marked improvement, but now you feel your mods have actually slowed the bike down. I have a couple theories as to what’s happening with everyone turning their backs on Hitchcock’s mods in recent times. First is that the average Classic 350 rider, myself included, rides too conservatively to really the effects where they’re intended. Second is that while you might initially notice a gain, in the end it’s still a slow bike. Once that initial comparison wears off you’re left with a bike that’s fairly tame and you start questioning whether it was worth it in the first place.
You have summed the thoughts of myself and a few others in your reply, it is still a relatively slow motorbike whatever changes are made, but it is still a satisfying bike to own and ride 😁👍👍

does anyone measure torque figure yet? only horsepower increase ive seen so far.... also wondering why Royal Enfield did not go with this kind of camshaft as stock, is reliability going to suffer ?
I have not read about torque figure yet for this cam,the camshaft is good in the lower gears,but i don’t think the bike really has enough power to cone onto cam quick enough to really be worth fitting, for the relaxed nature of the Classic it may be better fitted to the Hunter with its more road riding style

Do you have to follow some kind of run in on this after the change, or is it just plug and play? Oh, and I clicked on "like" but the counter didn't move.
I its all ready to go, but i could do another ECU re calibration that RE says is done by starting the bike from cold and not touching the throttle for 30 minutes- apparently it allows the engine temp to get hot and the ACU monitors everything and adjusts air and fuel mix, someone said it was 10 minutes but another channel think it was TN said RE say 30mins I did this when i fitted the Fuel Xlite, Certainly does not do any harm to do it 😁👍
Hi rear plate is 7 1/2 by 6, on with velcro with a yellow plate under neath, been on over year now, i take it off for Edinburgh centre or up north on A9 👍
Hi my ECU is still standard, just reset by by running the bike from cold at idle until warm 12-15mins) not touching throttle, this resets the ECU for changes of the free flowing exhaust, airfilter mods, camshaft and fuel X lite being fitted, top speed is still the same, only way to increase that is to fit the throttle body from the Hunter 350, I’m quite happy with the top speed as mostly ride narrow winding country roads 😁👍 Cheers Bruce

does anyone measure torque figure yet? only horsepower increase ive seen so far....
also wondering why Royal Enfield did not go with this kind of camshaft as stock, is reliability going to suffer ?
I have not read about torque figure yet for this cam,the camshaft is good in the lower gears,but i don’t think the bike really has enough power to cone onto cam quick enough to really be worth fitting, for the relaxed nature of the Classic it may be better fitted to the Hunter with its more road riding style

Did you fit new rocker carrier bolts? I noticed in the workshop manual that they are one use only.
Hi, i never fitted new ones as did not know and I’m ordering some and will swap them next service, and keep my fingers crossed til then 🤞🤞

What kind of exhaust do you have on bike?
Hi it is the Hitchcocks UK full stainless exhaust with provided baffle fitted, it is now painted black with PJ1 exhaust paint
Do you have to follow some kind of run in on this after the change, or is it just plug and play? Oh, and I clicked on "like" but the counter didn't move.
I its all ready to go, but i could do another ECU re calibration that RE says is done by starting the bike from cold and not touching the throttle for 30 minutes- apparently it allows the engine temp to get hot and the ACU monitors everything and adjusts air and fuel mix, someone said it was 10 minutes but another channel think it was TN said RE say 30mins
I did this when i fitted the Fuel Xlite,
Certainly does not do any harm to do it 😁👍
@@CoastriderscotlandAm about to fit the DNA Airfilter and they tell me you need to let this set for 15 minutes without playing with the throttle.
What size is your B&W plate and have you ever been stopped
Hi rear plate is 7 1/2 by 6, on with velcro with a yellow plate under neath, been on over year now, i take it off for Edinburgh centre or up north on A9 👍
Where did you get the ecu de restricted please?
Hi my ECU is still standard, just reset by by running the bike from cold at idle until warm 12-15mins) not touching throttle, this resets the ECU for changes of the free flowing exhaust, airfilter mods, camshaft and fuel X lite being fitted, top speed is still the same, only way to increase that is to fit the throttle body from the Hunter 350, I’m quite happy with the top speed as mostly ride narrow winding country roads 😁👍

Brilliant Bruce. My wife keeps telling me that I have to start saving for a cam 😅, but it will have to come out of Adsense 🫣 so it may be a while 😂. I will be having a go on Steve Woodman-Dix’ Classic 350 in April, can’t wait for that 😉😎
