Royal Enfield Classic 350 Hitchcocks Prerformance Camshaft any good?

- We ride the Classic 350 with the Hitchcocks Performance Camshaft now fitted and along with the DNA Air filter and stage 2 airbox mods, De Cat, free er flow tail pipe, and Fuel X Lite
The tappets were noisy as it turned out they not been adjusted correctly - I think because the TDC tool was really tight to use and I think it was not seated correctly and so while the tappets were probably ok and i had unknowingly re set them slack!
I re did them next day and the motor is real quiet now with less popping on over run and it feels like it is now pulling a tiny bit even more!
The bike sounds fantastic!
Cheers! 👍👍😁
Aye Bruce makes a great difference. I fitted my cam last week and the midrange is transformed. I then fitted the de-restricted ecu and the bike hit a speedo indicated 86 mph 👍🏻
I may well buy the ECU mod too 😁👍
Where can you get the ECU mod in UK..?
@@Coastriderscotland speak to Tiger Ian Ness, as he was having problems when he tried to fit to his classic.
Bobster Grey and Stevie Neilson have fitted. I believe Ian was gonna visit Bobster, and they were gonna fit it to Bobster Meteor, to rule out it wasn’t faulty.
Not had an update as to if this has been arranged as yet.
So await their findings.
Are you referring to swapping the hunters throttle body and ecu to the classic?
@@FoxParasyte I fitted the RLT00187/A ecu to my meteor without any problems. I bought this from Raju Lax 👍🏻
Another excellent vid look forward to the road trips
Thanks 👍 😁
HI Bruce
Love to have seen the grin on your face when you first opened it up, I know I was grinning 🤣
Like you I’ll still be riding my bike in the normal relaxed fashion. Where the camshaft really helps is when overtaking, drop a couple of gears and she now goes. No need to pre plan this manoeuvre any more.
Great video, loved the drive-by shots.
Ride safe Ian
Hi Ian, thanks, the bike will now be great for passing the Artics on the A9 😁👍👍
Lovely machine! Very nicely done. Sounds cracking.
Thank you Adam, its all worked out better than i imagined how the bike looks, sounds and rides 😁👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Excellent job! Can’t wait to find out how it does the steep hills! Glad you enjoyed the experience, and always nice to see somebody enjoying fettling a machine for fun, because that’s what it’s all about!
You and me both Steven 😁👍
It’s dry and cloudy today but its a freezing onshore easterly today, I’m not even going in the Man Cave today 🤣 weee off out a walk wrapped up to the harbour to do some wave watching 😁👍
Brilliant video, hearing you laugh like that makes it all worth while 👍
Thanks mark 👍 even bigger grin riding the bike now 😁👍
Very happy that you are pleased with the modification and l could tell by the sound of the engine revs and the way the speedometer climbed to 60 with ease. My bike is stock and you would definitely leave me behind very quickly. Great video and well done.😊👍
Thanks Carl 👍😁
There we go. That's the one we've been waiting for. Putting an order int Hitchcock's today.
I think its worth doing for sure! 😁👍👍
Sounds Awesome man, great job.
Thanks a lot! 😜👍👍
That’s a quick Enfield, good series of videos on the cam change.
Thank you Frank 😁👍
You know its worth it when you hear youre laugh! Sounds great and thanks for sharing the hints, tips and costs. One for the near future me thinks!
Roll on the summer, and Ride safe bud👍
Thanks 😁👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Hello there, Bruce! The motor sound is just beautiful man!!!
Thanks, i love this bike even more now! 😜😁👍👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Brilliant series Bruce ! Great to see you got the result you were hoping for. Made for excellent viewing. I'm sure it will prove to be one of your most popular 👍👍 1/4 mile time comparison may have been interesting 😉 Onward and upwards. 🥃
Thanks Lance, these latest films have been popular in the last week 😜👍👍🥃
Great recap Bruce, it does sound well, and looks like it gets a shifty on too! 🏃 Great stuff. 👏
Thanks Mel
Im real happy now with the bike! Exactly what i wanted the bike to look and ride like 😁👍👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Thanks for your videos
I enjoyed them both especially tip about getting the cover back on
You are brave to haul ass on those wet roads
White pheasant was cool to see
Thanks again
Thanks, glad you found tge film useful,
aye greasy roads!
yeah lucky white pheasant 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Thank you for the video ! I recently purchased by Hitchcocks a cam for my 2020 Himalayan that shall be installed I think this automn... It will have the stage 2 filter and the fuelx lite for help plus a Enfield performance silencer. Hope it will "regulate" the power curb with a bit higher power everywhere in the revs (not at 9000 like you 🤣). I understand why you use trail tires on those humid muddy roads. Looking forward to try this ! 😎
Im sure you wont be disappointed with the upgrades 😁👍👍
Love your content. Bike sounds fantastic
Much appreciated! Thank you 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Cracker of a vid bud, you are getting very professional at this youtube malarky, all the best from Argyll and our salt laden roads.
Thanks 👍 i don’t want to get too professional though 🤣🤣🤣😁👍
That sounds like the motorcycles in “Where Eagles Dare” Absolutely amazing Bruce 👏👏👏
Thanks Mark 😁👍👍👍
i did the cam thing and i haven't looked back. that with the dna and the hitchcock's decat and the fuelx. utterly transformational.
Hi Richard, its seems to be an overall success by everyone who bas done these modifications! 😁👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Bruce, the bike sounds great, I fitted the DNA air filter and modified inlet to my classic 350 which gave a nice induction noise. Nice job and informative video. Tim
Thanks Tim, i live the induction roar with the mods! Its very addictive! As is the new cam when it comes on 😜😁👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Thanks Bruce! My T120 black’s paranoid enough as it is, then you post this😂!
Excellent, I might just buy the cam so I have to get the bike as an accessory to fit it to😂👍👍
Haha thats the best excuse yet for another bike! 🤣😜😁👍
It is a good thing that others can hear you motoring nearby more clearly too, In my opinion.
Louder pipes saves lives 😜😁👍👍👍
Glad to see it’s all worked nicely. Bike sounds great and definitely looks poky enough for the lanes. A 30 second clutch cover video would be a really nice thing to do!
Thanks, i will get that clutch casing short done at the weekend 😁👍👍
Nice video, sounded lovely and looks the part to. Well done on sharing the journey and the costs. Ride safe
Thanks, its good to share info etc 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Fantastic Bruce, next stop the TT.
All we need now is a whizz kid genius to come up with a way to by-pass the top speed restriction.
Very good, thanks for all the info. Bike sounds great as does your laugh when you open it up. That's the difference, right there. That's why it's worth doing. Looking forward to the summer now like you. Ride safe bud👍
What a great bike for those back roads. The more and more I see your videos the more I want one (just a shame RE couldn't squeeze more out of that 350 stock). Might have to add one to the garage...
The 350 is a great bike that seems to have become loved by its owners for its looks, ability, affordability, and somehow gels everything so well, it seems a lot of owners are happy with its modest power while sone of us want a bit more oomph fir hills etc,
Possibly its success is its simplicity in todays world of rushing about, complicated, costly, and shop dependent servicing 😁
Cheers Bruce
@@Coastriderscotland thanks Bruce, agree that it is the perfect antidote for the modern day troubles. I think it is perfectly adequate however I do think that bikes like the triumph 400 might take some of the market share away from RE for these kind of bikes
Great stuff. I have a Scram and I can vouch for the Fuelx lite. It’s the first mod I did, and it was immediately very noticeable how much better the bike started to pick up from lower revs, which made it much more manageable in traffic. I have since fitted a DNA filter, and some point I’ll likely put a Delkevic exhaust system on too.
😁👍👍👍
Great sound!
Cheers John 😁👍
It's definitely an improvement, my mid range is perfect for the engine now, sits very happy now at 60 on a straight, nice enjoyable mod to carry out for the shed spanners amongst us,atb Bruce
Hi Chris, a great improvement the bike should really come with a Cam like this 😁👍👍
Excellent video Bruce , done the same minus decat on my hunter and it really does wake the 350 up 👍
Thanks 👍 with that Camshaft it is a gem of an engine now!
Thinking of doing that with my hunter. Have you done anything with the exhaust, I.e decat?
@@mattdog1982 not done a decat yet just a end can
Thank you. Nice bike
Glad you like it! Thanks 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Bruce we love you😁🍻
😁👍🥃
@@Coastriderscotland✌
Held off in my reply. Obviously I got a few bits n pieces to get fitted.😊
I plan on keeping the bike, so these upgrades just seem to put a big smile on everybody’s face.
As for me and the majority of us. It’s the increase in the torque, for as mentioned going up hills, riding into a headwind, and overtaking will be easier than the usual planned. Which is also safer.
Loved the excited answer……OH Yes😂
I like to reply and like all the Enfield UA-camr’s as it helps their algorithm…..bugger that’s a big word.😂
Best wishes.
Thank Mark the A93 and over the Lecht road will be great now with the torque 😁👍
Sounds and looks fantastic.
Real WW2 Bike, I'd be tempted to wear an old WW2 Motorcycle Despatch rider uniform while riding this wee bike.
Hi, thanks, i have a genuine Despatch leather waistcoat and most of the gear is available as repo on Soldier of Fortune Website 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
@Coastriderscotland Poor Steve McQueen was inappropriately dressed in chinos and pullover in The Great Eascape jump and l quite liked the German uniform 😀
So, a respectable gent's motorbike becomes a hooligans bike. Good idear using the signpost for the camera. Plus watching you and Ness do this mod we can see if the bike blows up or not before we do it ourselves 😉
Hi, i think these engine mods would deft be good for the new Hunter with its intentions
The mid rang power will be great for touring with camping weight on Highland hill roads👍
Buying the engine for a possible project/spare gives me some peace of mind 😜😁👍
Lol, unleash the beast lol. Sounds great Bruce.
Totally changes the bike.
Sadly my re has only done 619 miles at the moment so can't test it fully.
Great video.
Forgot to ask. Nice lid, which brand is it?
Thanks Phil 😁👍
Helmet is Shoei EX-Zero
It has a built in visor but can take MX goggles, came with no visor but Saltire gave me an Arai bubble visor,
With a retro mx square visor the hemet looks line a Bell Moto 3 😁👍
It was not cheap but got deal on clothing when i bought the bike 😁👍
Why? The bike is ran in...
@stevieneilson2451 HI stevie,
Going by the book I thought it was up to 2000k?
Want one for my Himalayan now! But so far mines been chugging along just fine. Maybe in a year or two, am 1800 miles so early days!
Its seems all models of ER singles benefit from the camshaft 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Reminds me of the opening scene of Lawrence of Arabia on the motorcycle. But you don't crash😊
🤣😁👍👍
Quality Humbahhhh at about 6mins. Canny beat it!
Oom Bah! 😜😁👍
Great Video, thanks. How does your insurer view this change?
Hi, my insurance is ok about the Basic changes 👍
Hi Bruce, if you’re thinking of changing the pipe, don’t get the Red Rooster, it does make a lovely noise, but the system is made for caste, so there’s not weight reduction. SS “Southern Softy”
I will prob buy the Hitchcocks full stainless pipe 😁👍
Yep, good choice 👍@@Coastriderscotland
Tidy that 👍😄
Thanks 😁👍
Mate, you have now some serious bike here. :) I am impressed! In terms of power or even spec, what do you reckon, faster to 60 mph? I only put a DNA in mine, and I feel a difference. Cheers and love your channel, it helped me a lot when I was thinking about buying a RE.
Hi, deft quicker to 60 mph 😁👍 Across on Tiger Ness channel you can see a film where Ian compared stock and modified speed and times
ua-cam.com/video/f8vxUE3PObk/v-deo.htmlsi=opHNjQ-uwY86evh8
@@Coastriderscotland thanks mate, I will consider it than, because I don't want to switch to 650, I love my Signals edition and 350, and if I can give him a little bit more power, then I will! :)
Stay safe! Cheers!
Rocket !
😁👍👍👍
Hi going by a few observations cam conversion seems to suit the 350 better than Himalayan 411...🤔😊sounds brilliant anywaz atb
👍👍👍
Did you fit new rocker carrier bolts? I noticed in the workshop manual that they are one use only.
Hi, i never fitted new ones as did not know and I’m ordering some and will swap them next service, and keep my fingers crossed til then 🤞🤞
Cheers Bruce
I must say you’re not frightened to “give it the beans” , much better to ride that way than to labour the engine. How many miles on the clock now Bruce ? Great honest videos.
Thank you
Just over 12,000 mile now, not been out a lot that far last few months with this winters weather being so crap!
Roll on Spring and warmer weather! 😁👍👍👍
Cheers Bruce
Do you have to follow some kind of run in on this after the change, or is it just plug and play? Oh, and I clicked on "like" but the counter didn't move.
I its all ready to go, but i could do another ECU re calibration that RE says is done by starting the bike from cold and not touching the throttle for 30 minutes- apparently it allows the engine temp to get hot and the ACU monitors everything and adjusts air and fuel mix, someone said it was 10 minutes but another channel think it was TN said RE say 30mins
I did this when i fitted the Fuel Xlite,
Certainly does not do any harm to do it 😁👍
@@CoastriderscotlandAm about to fit the DNA Airfilter and they tell me you need to let this set for 15 minutes without playing with the throttle.
Anyone know if there are any performace parts for 250? Or big bore ect?
Hi, if there is anything it would i imagine be on the Hitchcocks UK website 😁
Cheers Bruce
Next mod....fast and furious type nitrous button for the big hills.
😜😁👍👍
I set my cam the old fashioned way without all the locking tool malarkey. Don't have to remove cases etc.. 🤯
Prob be as well doing that Stevie, save on that pricey casing gasket too 😜👍
What size is your B&W plate and have you ever been stopped
Hi rear plate is 7 1/2 by 6, on with velcro with a yellow plate under neath, been on over year now, i take it off for Edinburgh centre or up north on A9 👍
Popping on the gearchanges! Did ye fit a quick-shifter and not tell us? :-)
😜😁👍👍
hi bruce .. i have an indian import classic 500 .. all enfields sound terrible and 125cc tappy ... brake them to factory standards .. then ride them very hard ,, change the oil every 2,000mls regardless untill 6,000 mls..then enjoy them,, only mod ever needed is exhaust and air filter ..
Thanks for the info Tony 👍😁
Cheers Bruce
What kind of exhaust do you have on bike?
Hi it is the Hitchcocks UK full stainless exhaust with provided baffle fitted, it is now painted black with PJ1 exhaust paint
Oooohhh you little tearaway :) 🤣
Like being 19 again! 😜🤣🤣😁👍
Where did you get the ecu de restricted please?
Hi my ECU is still standard, just reset by by running the bike from cold at idle until warm 12-15mins) not touching throttle, this resets the ECU for changes of the free flowing exhaust, airfilter mods, camshaft and fuel X lite being fitted, top speed is still the same, only way to increase that is to fit the throttle body from the Hunter 350, I’m quite happy with the top speed as mostly ride narrow winding country roads 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Nearly as much grunt as a 500 now 😉
Its going good now Andy! 😁👍
It's amazing how a camshaft can turn a respectable middle aged man into a juvenile delinquent in seconds. 😂😂😂
It is brilliant! 😜 like being 19 again! 🤣😁👍👍👍
Cheers Bruce
@@Coastriderscotland Enjoy, and stay safe on those mud laden backroads,
It actually performs like a motorbike now, instead of a bit of farm machinery.....lol
😁👍
😁👍
Brilliant Bruce. My wife keeps telling me that I have to start saving for a cam 😅, but it will have to come out of Adsense 🫣 so it may be a while 😂. I will be having a go on Steve Woodman-Dix’ Classic 350 in April, can’t wait for that 😉😎
Hi Ian, be good to ride them back to back, stock and modified 😁
Im having a weekend at home and going to catch up on your films and the many others i have fallen behind as been in the garage so much of late 🤣😁👍
@@Coastriderscotlandit’s a nightmare trying to keep up on all the vids out there, and it will only get worse 😂
