The only reason GRRM has taken so long is because he's had to rewrite the entirety of Winds once he decided to draw more attention to the Mecha Football Game the series will end with.
This is a terrific comment
What madness we've fueled.
he's of the age to have grown up with Electric Football, it makes sense
(This is also why the Others/their wights are moving so slowly)
You people are getting crazy, it's just going to be Euron's eldrich god he summons versus the one single gundam the hightowers have. Mecha football.. you guys are nuts
It's being restructured around Hot Pie.
I love when my conspiracy math starts getting used as a source in other peoples giant conspiracy walls
I can't say you started this but you definitely helped lol
I lovd this fandom with all of my heart. I've been here for 8 years and I've never loved it more than now
In the words of Lana del Rey: Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have. BUT I HAVE IT
I'm marry to a Swiftie and I can tell you, they overanalize every tiny thing as much as we do!
Oh my gosh we should branch out. Let's make a Swiftspiracy channel.
@@InterestingNerdClub you totally should!!! the main two problems are:
1. studying all Taylor's shenanigans
2. counting all the money you gonna make xD
God revealed it to me in a dream. WoW is dropping on December 16th, 2024.
We have another hard date. One way or another this comment is going to have a ton of fun replies in January lol
God didn’t happen to tell you who wins the next World Series did he
I love the imagery of GRRM agonizing in a comfy chair. If he doesn't finish within a year, we need to poke him with the soft cushions 😂
The dragon cake thing is so funny because the supposed party was literally on the same day of the HotD season premier if it’s real it clearly was a watch party
That would honestly be the most exciting literary news since probably the end of Harry Potter. I really want it to be true, I swear I'll finally get around to reading this series if it is!!
As someone who mainly gets books for my Mom for Christmas, if Winds of Winter comes out in December, along with Sanderson’s Winds and Truth, it is going to severely hamper my Christmas shopping.
its really wonderful how good faith yall are to george as a writer and although im very skeptical id be lying if i said i diddnt enjoy every second of this video and your hopeful giggles
It may be the case that we never see more books, but we're still here in this weird nerdy place together and that makes me happy too lol
If you cant get Sean Bean, the obvious choice is Harry Lloyd as he already did Dunk and Egg and crushed it
Oh this is an excellent point. He was really good in Dunk and Egg.
There's a really cool channel on UA-cam called DavidreadsASOIAF. It's a free audiobook and he does all the voices really well.
The winds are blowing.
What if the alien emoji is meant to be a child of the forest?
I hate this. Let's make it a theory lol
Ok I watched the whole video now. God this was long. I spend way too much time and energy on this but the bottom line of all the speculation is "Well maybe! But also maybe not!" We thought he was surely going to announce the book was done in 2021 and then he said "I still have a long way to go". Ertac Altinoz has been hinting about the book being released in November 2024, but we dunno if it's a prank or his source is wrong or anything like that. George hasn't said anything about the progress of the book since October 2022, so maybe he's almost done and wants to just say nothing until he's done and he's almost done, or maybe he's had a hard time and been rewriting for all of 2023 and half of 2024 and he hasn't made much progress. Maybe him giving an "update" to the Burlington Bar was that he was almost done, or maybe it was he was at like 1200 pages or something. Maybe he's going to announce the book is done at the end of the HotD season or at Worldcon, or maybe he'll announce at worldcon he "still has a long way to go". Maybe he's going to announce it on his notablog and "Words of Wisdom" is a hint, or maybe it's random coincidence. Maybe Javi Marcos was right and Penguin Randomhouse Spain buying the rights to the ASOIAF series from Gilgamesh was indicitive that they had an internal release date soon, or maybe that was just wrong. Every last thing isn't definitive, the only thing would be George giving an update of some kind, and he hasn't. So... we wait. And we hope that someday the long night will end.
That said, the book is coming out November 12th 2024 you heard it in this youtube comment first.
Yup, so much of the fandom is like "welp, idk!" But I'd like to note that we went the best route. We have a hard number that will either be proved or disproved. So at least we get to rib each other if we're wrong lol
Now I really hope there's a chapter in the Winds of Winter that just says "And so-and-so just t-posed for 6 months" and that's the whole chapter.
11 days, that’s how long it took my hopes to get dashed after watching this. Was a tough blog post last night.
the reason hes taking so long is because he can't think of how to write the announcement post on not a blog
@whyismyricewet1986 I'd be livid if it has been just straight up finished for 7 years and he's purposefully sitting on it. It's untrue luckily.
I like the idea that he doesn't know how to finish it. Literally, he's literally on the last page.
@InterestingNerdClub While I think he has the idea of the ending of the series is (ironically george is great at writing, in particular, twist endings in his Sci fi works), I have always liked the idea that the book literature wise contains a finnegans wake style quirk. The first line of the entire series is "we should start back" and there are some clear time travel themes if nothing else. I think there will be a meta narrative pay off in some way that would be very hard to adequately construct.
I think george has had to hybridise his writing style, becoming an architect-gardener capable of completing the hanging gardens of Babylon.
It makes sense that he would work on the outline of dream of spring concurrently with winds, at least once winds was nearly finished.
How else could he make sure he wasnt making mistakes with winds that would make dream impossible to write.
That way he could go back to winds and make the changes he needed for the purpose of making dream work.
I also find you guys' rewrite theory very plausible
Hell yeah. There's a lot of downer points of view and they might be right I guess, but there no fun to talk about lol. I'd rather be excited any day!
@GiordanoBruno42 not necessarily an optimistic point of view but like the boys discussed there's evidence he Sat down with editors and realised it didn't work. It might not have just been that book that didn't work but he realised that this story wouldn't lead to the ending he wanted or that they decided to make changes to the ending either after the show or just after giving it more thought or criticism. Maybe he watched some Preston Jacobs and decided that there should be a dornish master plan.
That would make a lot of sense to me as a factor in any rewrites or delays in the book releasing. It's a hard story to get right. I think especially with so long to wait and theorise and mythologise I think a dream of spring might be among the hardest books to satisfactorily bring to an audience in history.
love a new tank of hopium to huff
***rips a long hit of hope*** you know it might be this year.
Have either of you seen the 4.5 hour cut of the Hobbit Trilogy? Someone basically cut out all the extra stuff from the trilogy and wound up with one fairly coherent movie in the end. Highly recommend it.
I haven't seen this and now I want to.
@@InterestingNerdClub I believe it's called the “The Tolkien Edit” IIRC.
@@InterestingNerdClub There are many, many Fan Edits for The Hobbit Trilogy. Generally, the main two ways they're done is either editing them down to two movies instead of three (as was originally intended) and editing them down to one film.
The Hobbit: Legendary Edition (by Wraith), The Hobbit: The Spence Edit (by Spence), The Hobbit: Book Edit (by M4_) and The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Edits (by Stromboli Bones) are the most notable, popular and seemingly the best edits of the trilogy, at least as far as adapting the trilogy into one singular film goes.
I saw this vid was 2 hours long and I knew there was no way you were going to sufficiently explore the subject matter. Half and hour just isn't enough once you've removed the hour and a half of gags and bits
You don’t watch this channel often, do you? 😅
Never have I been so accurately called out.
@@ngarcia2116he does watch it because he literally broke down every video lol
@@cbob213 I think I took him too literally then 🙃
19:15 This was the first change in Game of Thrones that really rubbed me the wrong way. In season 4, Jon's plan to kill the mutineers made no sense at all. By the time Jon would have gotten to Craster's keep, it would have already been raided by the wildlings or the wildlings would have already passed by it on their way to the wall. The show spent 3 episodes on that stupid waste of time.
Loras sleeping around was a real canary in the coal mine what the back half of the show turned out to be
Would be great if Emilia started the audio with "And this is what really happened."
All jokes aside, I would love to hear Emilia narrate Winds, it would bring a tear to my eye 😢
Guys, what is this unnecessary bother? The winds of winter, the final episode of bad dragln show season 6, was released in 2016....
Hope is a fickle thing.
@@peterusmc20 No it isn't.
19:16 for me it was when Jaime and Bron went to Dorne.. ooooo noooo....
Subbed! Really enjoyed this video!
WELCOME TO THE PARTY
Dany is a character I see really suffering from the five year gap, although this idea could theoretically work as is. I know her being in the dothraki sea is at the end of dance, but I think that's more a function of how the books ended up being organized rather than a matter of chronology being in the way of George's vision for her. Her five year gap, starting a couple chapters after where she leaves off in dance, she takes a very firm, religiously inspired grip on the dothraki, and actually DEVELOPS some psychopathy by fire and blooding essos with them. Works even better the less it actually contributes to her goals, becoming more solidifying her own ego than any power she actually needs to acquire, having picked it up from her followers.
This could be happening at the exact same time as Jon using HIS position as an object of worship (following his resurrection, a dropped plot in the show with huge potential and consequence) to do good things for people, in a way that has nothing to do with his ego.
This build-up of how each is using their extreme power over people culminating in them meeting gives the audience the juxtaposition between them, but the fun would be in watching them discover these things about each other. The dream of spring is the dream they both have that the other is exactly who they need, but dreams are even windier than words.
Max von Sydow would’ve been the best for the audiobook. RIP
Would be good with Harry Lloyd again however
Extremely good points both.
Always a nice day when you two lovable scamps upload
1:05 7, Bad Dragon™️
6:00 we can hear your disappointed face Zac
26:11 it was Salvatore and the dragon was that chubby red dragon who lives in the Underdark
Dont you dare give me hope
So this just got disproven by Grrms new statement right?
Yay visual clues! Looks sick!

And thank you for making the video!
IT WAS A TERRIFYING JOY
I will be back to comment. You better hope this is true.
o7 I look forward to it
Maybe they'll announce season 9 of GOT this year too?
Let it be known that my bet for who is gonna be TWOW prologue POV is Sybell Spicer. Yk, Jeyne Westerling's mother. Yk, Maggy the Frog's granddaughter. It might set up stuff with Stoneheart or Cersei later in the book.
This is a very fun pick, I love it. She's such an interesting character and I won't be sad if she dies lol
If this is true the announcement will be made on my birthday
I'm hoping. A good birthday present. Please.
Didn't George recently say he got no work on TWOW done the past year?
I randomly stumbled upon this video, it's good stuff. The joke about the "red arrow/woke" stuff made me giggle and earned y'all a sub 😂.
I really hate those people. I'm so glad the ASOIAF community (at least content creators) seem to not go with that mindset
@hardlo7146 it's strange how in my experience at least those around me who buy into real world conspiracies also tend to have very surface level interpretations of media or miss intended satire in shows that are deconstructions of their genres.
@@peterusmc20 Indeed, they are the type of people who mocked their English teachers back in high school for trying to dissect the true meaning of words within literature. They lack any kind of media literacy or critical thinking, so they're easy prey for grifters, cults, and conspiracy peddlers.
It's amazing how many people like that are in the fandom. I like to think we've weeded them out by having too much fun lol

Lord of the rings people are too generous to the films, fellowship was basically perfect but rotk is bad
Wdym? RotK is probably the best of the LotR films, all of them however suffer from simplifying and excluding loral minutiae for broader audiences
Yeah this is a remarkably hot take, I'm a big fan of the third one! It's got a ghost army and almost no patiently walking through bogs lol
Though I do wish we got the scouring of the shire to be fair
