Even when you mod your JK, buy the base Rubicon since it already has Dana44 front and rear axles, and front and rear locking differential. Then you can customize from there. If you start out with a Sport model, by the time you mod it to the level of the Rubicon, it will cost you more than the Rubicon. Also, the Rubicon Wrangler, in all vintage will hold its value much better than other Wrangler. This is the same for the previous generation TJ, JL, and now the JK.
the lesson when buying a jeep, buy a basic model as inexpensive as you can so that all that money you saved you can use on after market parts that are in the end less expensive, more functional, and better looking than anything that the factory will offer on any of the sahara, rubicon, anniversary models. my 2008 4 door wrangler cost me $21k, and ive spent $5000 in parts and labor on new steel bumpers, winch, led lights, 33inch mickey thompson tires, 17inch wheels, nerf bars, stereo and speakers.
Yep.... I did that, Bought a tad over $6000 in smoking looking upgrades. Then when you trade it in, all they give you is your base price for your Jeep. Like they say "Jeep", means.... Just Empty, Every, Pocket. But who cares.... it looked GREAT and I love it. :)
If you get the rubicon it has the Dana 44 front and rear axles which run you about six grand to upgrade your sport or Sahara plus the front lockers and sway bar disconnect. All that added together with your sport or Sahara price plus paying someone to install them for you if you don’t have the mechanical aptitude for it is really expensive. And would probably be better to just get the rubicon
Anytime I visit a dealership here in AZ no one knows anything about the wranglers. I was asking about the AC and whether it could be added to the rear as well, they weren't even aware that they don't come standard with AC. So, could air be added not only to the front but also the rear?
Ambrosia Malbrough my Jeep dealership (in the uk 🇬🇧) are equally as useless on anything except a baby renegade! Don't get the to reflash the ecu either. They'll brick your car!
come to toledo Ohio, the only great thing about this city period is everyone in it has most likely work on the wrangler line and can tell you everything about them.
i love my sahara unlimited i been adding stuff since i bought it and i'm doing some of the mods myself it's endless love it i never done this before but my vehicle has his own savings account just for whatever just in case...lol
Great video. I looked at all kinds of info before buying my used Rubicon. Nowhere in all that I looked at did I realize that my Rubicon is actually the Hard Rock edition till just now. Feeling kinda duh but wanted to say thank you for a clear explanation because I spend a ton of time researching and nothing explained it as well as you did here.
Oscar Mike Edition, Willys, etc. Another item that I do not believe you mentioned was that the HardRock package comes with heated leather seats (I own one of these). Heated mirrors are also an optional item for the Sport trim, if I remember correctly? The 4x4 system on the Rubicon is a bit different, as well, with a more effective low-range. Also, the Rubicon comes with Dana 44 axels front AND rear, with an optional 4.10 gear vs 3.73.
If you're buying brand new, perhaps so. But a ton of JK's are available on the pre-owned market. Some judicious shopping can yield some good prices on Rubicons. I purchased my Rubicon Unlimited that was a little over two years old, and for the money it was a good way to get the upgraded Dana 44 front axle and the lockers (among other things) that come with the Rubicon. Granted you could buy a used Sport and replace the Dana 30, add lockers, etc, but having experience doing that before, it's quite a bit of work on your own, and expensive to have a shop do it.
All the non-Rubicon's have the lighter Dana 30 axle in the front and the Dana 44 in the rear. But the Rubicon has Dana 44's in both the front and back. Just a much stronger front axle.
I claim my Jeep!! And I dont give permission to anyone to drive it!! :) I am tottaly open and receptive,my Jeep is a success joy and love for me I now establish, I move into the winning circle, this Jeep is part of my new avenues of income ,all good!!..#Banksofheaven I am blessed,I accept the best now, I deserve it,it is my birth right , I claim my good now.
Not hating on jeep, but every car manufacturer will put a new bumper on a truck or SUV and a different style of wheels and beefy tires and call it a new package to jack up the price. You could get the sport jeep and do essentially the same upgrades and spend half of what that limited edition jeep costs.
The Rubicon is the exception to your rule. It comes with a DANA 44 front axle, Rocktrack transfer case with 4:1 ratio, front and rear axle lockers, and electronic disconnecting sway bar - all of which you cannot get on any other trim package, and would cost way more aftermarket to add.
MY SUGGESTION TO ANYONE WANTING TO BUY A CURRENT JEEP, is to READ the detail specs of all the Wrangler's on the web site. The have it laid out really well so you can compare 4 at the same time. Make sure you hit the tab for the DETAILED specs or you'll miss some very defining differences like break over angles, rear axle type, suspension types, and differential locking systems which all separates the pretty comfy models from the real trail horses. Personally I think the Willy's Wheeler trim line (not the sport with the willy's appearance package and NOT the Willy's Wheeler W) is the best bang for the buck of the current website trim offers. It has the best break over angle (same as Rubicon) and approach/exit clearances of all the models (better than the Big Bear), the same performance suspension as the Rubicon, the Trac-Lock on the fly rear limited slip differential, and the Dana 44 rear end and it starts at only $28,295 only 3k above the base. The worst in my opinion is the Sahara. The Sahara looks great but has a lesser suspension, no trac lock or tru lock so no locking differential AT ALL (probably because it's geared to sand) and standard front and rear axle not the Dana 44 yet a higher MSRP at 30,445.00 IMO the Sahara is all comfort and appearance. The Willy's Wheeler is like a 1/2 Rubicon for less IMO.
My rubicon from 2013 has similar features to the hard rock. The 10a package. I still have it. 13k miles. Its a kick ass anvil color. Red tow hooks n rubicon lettering. A cool 10a badge on the side. Its clean af.
I live in Scotland and really want a 4 door rubicon. As far as i can tell it does not come with the diesel engine. Is this correct? I looked on the dealer site and it does not seem to be an option. I would not own a 4x4 in the uk if it was a petrol because our fuel prices are far too high.
I want to buy a sport wrangler 2014 used. It is sold with the soft top, and I was wondering if I could add a hard top for the winter? Great video btw, really helped!
If you plan on getting tons of mods and wheeling a lot with your JK and you don't want to dump $40k, get the sport. You can add plenty of axle re-enforcements and change gearing that would be comparable to the Rubi and save nearly $10k. If you want a 'pretty SUV', get the Saraha. If you have the money to drop on the Rubi, get it. Dana 44s, upgraded gearing, factory sway bar disconnect, rock rail, etc.
I have some questions about the sport jeep wrangler. Is A.c., steps, and heated front seats standard for the unlimited sport? How is the jeep at night? Does the images on the interior's buttons glow so we would be able to see them? Does the cup holders glow at night like the Willy's jeep wrangler? Sorry I'm just really curious☺
If you want to customize your jeep go with the sport S or Sahara. If you're just going to remain stock go with the Rubicon, It doesn't make sense to buy the Rubicon package just to replace half of the special parts. My buddy bought a Rubicon and switched the rims and tires, he put on dana 60 axles, he has a huge stinger bumper and a beefy rear bumper and a 3" lift kit then he changed the gears. so it basically wasn't a Rubicon anymore because he changed majority of the components. I did all the work for him in return for the oem parts (which i then put on my 2014 wrangler sport S) So I basically have a Rubicon for the price of a sport S. My point is my buddy would've saved about $10,000 if he just got the sport
What’s with the new MOAB Edition, just seems a Sahara 75th Anniversary with larger wheels. Like the 75, has the upgraded rear axle with Trac-loc, should have at least Rubi features, if you’re going to have a price tag of 10K more than the Rubicon, but not as capable.
That is the 75th Anniversary edition, made in 2016 and for a few months in 2017. Limited supply of those left. YES, you can get a 2 door Rubicon. Actually all packages can come in 2 and 4 door except the Right Hand Drive Wrangler which only comes in 4 door.
I will never own anything other than a Jeep Wrangler . Unfortunately I just totaled my 2007 Jeep Wrangler . It just hit 103,000 miles and never once had to be but in the shop. I last ran a red light and I totaled my baby. I replaced her with a 2019!sahara hope she’s just as great
I got the 18 Sport S and couldn't be happier. If you dont go rock crawling, dont buy the rubi. Alot dont take theirs off road and at the end of the day, you're just paying for the Rubicon sticker on the hood.
Finally a video where the guy knows what he’s talking about.
and that doesn't mention the "seven slot grill".
Yea that's why he said they come standard with 4x4 which they have 2wd models and they don't all come standard with power options or cruise control .
Shockingly a dealer put out a good video
Love my 2016 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited. I named her Lego Lily because you can take pieces off and put them back on!
Awesome! :)
That’s a clever name. Very creative!
Barbie lol
Even when you mod your JK, buy the base Rubicon since it already has Dana44 front and rear axles, and front and rear locking differential. Then you can customize from there. jaime rodarte I think the 75th anniversary wheels are still bad ass. Won’t go bigger than a 35 just to keep them
Only paid 20 grand for my Rubicon. Bought a wench for it and that is all it needed.
jaime rodarte What you said makes a lot of sense. Thank you
Yep.... I did that, Bought a tad over $6000 in smoking looking upgrades. Then when you trade it in, all they give you is your base price for your Jeep. Like they say "Jeep", means.... Just Empty, Every, Pocket. But who cares.... it looked GREAT and I love it. :)

I picked up a 16 Rubi Hard Rock. This thing is awesome!
Marc Sachs buying one tomorrow for my wife's every day driver..man I can't wait to take it out here in the mountains of southern New Mexico
The Jeep Wrangler is best car in whole world for me
same to me it just feels safer and then not being super fast is another feat i like :)
A Roblox Player It’s a vehicle or SUV but no a car ... lol
“Jeep”
But yeah I agree
I have a 2 door Sahara. I chose the Sahara because it’s my daily driver. I love the interior and it’s an easy drive
I have a 2017 willys and liv in az everyday I hit a trial after work and this thing is unbelievable ....love it
I bought my wrangler sport in 2014. loving every minute of it.
I actually live close by in Arkansas and will be in the market for a Jeep in the near future. This video helped a ton! I will keep Fletcher in mind.
THANK YOU! From California! Team Sahara.
Anytime I visit a dealership here in AZ no one knows anything about the wranglers. I was asking about the AC and whether it could be added to the rear as well, they weren't even aware that they don't come standard with AC. So, could air be added not only to the front but also the rear?
No ac in the rear for whatever reason.
No way to add rear A/C or any A/C to a non A/C jeep that we have found.
I had a local A/C shop do an add on kit. It turned out to be a complete nightmare and I ate $$$.
Thanks for the video, love jeeps and glad you took the time to point out the differences ive been wondering with so many choices.
Im buying a jeep soon and This video was so helpful thank you
Did u buy a jeep I bought a 2015 jeep wrangler black out edition made by a company in Essex called derranged
i love my sahara unlimited i been adding stuff since i bought it and i'm doing some of the mods myself it's endless love it i never done this before but my vehicle has his own savings account just for whatever just in case...lol

This was suchhhhh a helpful video!
team rubicon
Edwin Tejeda LS SWAPPED SPORT TEAM! 💪
Edwin Tejeda team rubicon RECON! #jeepwave
Thank you. I've been reading about the differences and it gets confusing. This was clear and concise.
Rubicons are still top of the line, no matter how many "limited editions" they make, the Rubi has the best resale value as well.
I love my roll up windows and cloth seats. I'm a simple man
Oscar Mike Edition, Willys, etc. Another item that I do not believe you mentioned was that the HardRock package comes with heated leather seats (I own one of these). i liked SAHARA
I want the Sport, seems like the most authentic Wrangler to me.
EElectric_M I have a 2door sport the one I like best 18 inch wheels 12000 lb winch
It’s like an empty canvas, so the owner can add their own personal upgrades.
You did an awesome job on presenting the Jeeps! Thanks 👍
Sport is the best if your gonna mod (not mall crawler) your jeep.

+upupaepops why is that u change the axle for which I canna know but don't wanna ask that shit around until now lol
All the non-Rubicon's have the lighter Dana 30 axle in the front and the Dana 44 in the rear. But the Rubicon has Dana 44's in both the front and back. Just a much stronger front axle.
+upupaepops meaning the Upgrade gonna work only if I'm pushing it or it just for the bigger tire I see
I'm looking into these. can you explain why, in a technical way. thank you
I love my 2016 sport wrangler!
I claim my Jeep!! And I dont give permission to anyone to drive it!! :) I am tottaly open and receptive,my Jeep is a success joy and love for me I now establish, I move into the winning circle, this Jeep is part of my new avenues of income ,all good!!..#Banksofheaven I am blessed,I accept the best now, I deserve it,it is my birth right , I claim my good now.

trust me bro, a modified sport can never be the same as a rubicon
I've been in both

You are a good salesman. Good job.
I did not know the back country was a limited edition. Thank you
Love the one in the beginning of the video👌🏼
Me too! What color is that?...
Prolly tan.
My rubicon from 2013 has similar features to the hard rock.
The 10a package. I still have it. 13k miles.
Its a kick ass anvil color. Red tow hooks n rubicon lettering. A cool 10a badge on the side. Its clean af.
there is a bird shit on the sahara's front window...
Does that come standard? Lol.
lobecosc I think it's optional for cosmetics
Luke K 🤣🤣
I learned a lot. There are a few things on the new Jeeps I don't like, but all in all a very nice upgrade.
Awesome explanations. :) Planning to get the Sport Unlimited!
Well done. Best overall review on the differences. Thanks!!
just bought my first jeep.....love it
Rubicon is the beast•|||||•
This really did help! Thank you!
Great video. What details do you have on the factory 4-half door option? Years avail? Only on Sport? Thx
Thank you very much for explaining the differences. Thinking about getting a Jeep and there are so many models it was confusing.
Wish I could afford one, I love these cars.
shestrendy it's a jeep not a car
Yes, you can as long as you have comfortable job
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much. This is really an informative video.
Loved this vid! Keep it up #JeepLife ...we're dying to get one! 🤘Got any deals right now ;) ????
I have seen many videos by seller them only speak about aesthetics. I would like they talk about mechanisms engine, transmission and suspension.
Great video!! Did a fantastic job!!
Saw a few for sale with NO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE! Looks like they removed it, or ordered it without???
I live in Scotland and really want a 4 door rubicon. As far as i can tell it does not come with the diesel engine. Is this correct? I looked on the dealer site and it does not seem to be an option. I would not own a 4x4 in the uk if it was a petrol because our fuel prices are far too high.
The Diesel is not currently available in the US, but I've been videos and pictures of 2.8L CRD Diesels in Europe.
ty. I finally understand the packages now
I want to buy a sport wrangler 2014 used. It is sold with the soft top, and I was wondering if I could add a hard top for the winter? Great video btw, really helped!
Great video~
How does the 'Altitude' version compare?
good video but wash the Sahara's windshield.
Birds drop where they want, regardless of how often you clean the vehicle or windshield.
You
I guess the rubicon hard rock is less on gas then the rubicon? Because it will make the weight of wallet 5 grand less....
Awesome video. Consise and precise... keep up the good work guys. 👍
what about the jeep willys I see them everywhere..
We just didn't have any at that time, but we do now. See the inventory at www.FletcherDCJ.com
Frank Fletcher Dodge Chrysler Jeep why did you leave out the Willys
Any fact about it?
Proverbs, probably because the dude making the video either wasnt aware they made one or because he forgot they did.
Fantastic description of each package 🤙🤙🚚
AWESOME VIDEO. Are the Jeeps presented here 2016 Models?
Very good video. Where do you find upgrades to make it yours? Is the step the same as the rock cover?
If you plan on getting tons of mods and wheeling a lot with your JK and you don't want to dump $40k, get the sport. this vid helped so much thank you for the info
Great video I just went from no knowledge to now I know knowledge. Wow
Very good video, you just answered all my questions I had. Thank you very much
Damn good video and very informative. Looking to buy a Wrangler and this was really helpful.
Very helpful as I always got confused on the different models.
thank you. Never owned one but plan to buy in the spring. very informative
Getting a 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport can I get my fender flares and top painted to match the body color ?

Very detailed... thank you.
Awesome video but what are the prices?
wow what a great review, well explain with almost all the model.
Keep up the good work sir :)
No mention of the Willys wheeler model/package?
Do all rubicons come with the dana axle? I'm just learning about the difference between the wrangler and rubicon.
Very informative
Definitely getting the Rubicon!
Definitely getting you ❤️
What’s with the new MOAB Edition, just seems a Sahara 75th Anniversary with larger wheels. Like the 75, has the upgraded rear axle with Trac-loc, should have at least Rubi features, if you’re going to have a price tag of 10K more than the Rubicon, but not as capable.
Where does the Willy Wheeler fall amongst these? Is it a version of the Sport?
Whats the complete name of the jeep at 7:55? PLEASE!
And another question, is there a jeep Wrangler rubicon with only 2 doors?
That is the 75th Anniversary edition, made in 2016 and for a few months in 2017. Limited supply of those left. YES, you can get a 2 door Rubicon. Actually all packages can come in 2 and 4 door except the Right Hand Drive Wrangler which only comes in 4 door.
I’m looking for a wrangler now , what would you say is the best years to look for ? I’m not trying to go over 30k
Damn helpful video! Seems I wouldn't wanna go past Sahara myself.
Just the video/info that was looking for. 👍👍
Does the 70th anniversary 2011 has the same features as a rubicon?
What’s the difference between the ones u mentioned in ur video and the Jeep Wrangler unlimited X ?
I will never own anything other than a Jeep Wrangler . Unfortunately I just totaled my 2007 Jeep Wrangler . It just hit 103,000 miles and never once had to be but in the shop. I last ran a red light and I totaled my baby. I replaced her with a 2019!sahara hope she’s just as great
guys should i buy a jeep wrangler or a jeep wrangler sport rubicon both are 2001 model
I used a friends CJ7 back in the late 80's and did in fact put down the windshield, for a short run , just to say I did it! :O)
Parents have the Backcountry Edition in Graphite; really nice rig.
also, are there some of the 4 doors 4 cylinder, or all of them are 6 cylinder?
sports s for me
I got the 18 Sport S and couldn't be happier. If you dont go rock crawling, dont buy the rubi. Alot dont take theirs off road and at the end of the day, you're just paying for the Rubicon sticker on the hood.
are some jeeps larger than others? i am just referring to the 4 doors ones. it seems to me that the sport model is smaller that the others.
Thanks sir. Very helpful video
Can a 5'10 tall person sleep in the back of any of these if the back seats are taken out?
Bring back the LJ!!!
are all the unlimited Rubicon's the same length? some seem a little longer than others...
My grandparents got there Wrangler at fletcher.
Love my Jeep!
Jennifer Garcia which one do you have??
Wrangler Sport Unlimited(:
I have a 2016 hard rock love it
