I drove Jeeps for 6 years and really enjoy the versatility of the Jeep. My first was a ‘12 JK & now a ‘17 JKU. Been my daily driver and has been very reliable. The 3.6 has lots of power for a Jk or JKU. It’s not a sports car and not built for a comfortable ride. It’s a Jeep. I bought it because it’s a great ride year round. Top down in the summer or running snowy roads in the winter. We get both in WV. Basically people don’t buy them for speed, comfort, or gas mileage. They buy it for the versatility & best off road vehicle (or on road) on the market.
Jeeps are great for the purpose for which they are built. The only problem I have with them is how over-inflated their costs have gotten. It's ridiculous.
True Minimalist I love mine. But for the same price I could of gotten a used newer Porsche. But a Porsche can't climb mountains or tow a small trailer or carry a fair amount of cargo. It's all in what you want I guess. If you want a cheap off-roader. Look at older jeeps, toyotas and so on. Even new toyotas are insanely priced.
So look at it like this, over inflated yes I agree. However, they hold their value like no other American made car Period. they are an investment. I bout a 2012 4 door JK for 28,000 I traded for a 2017 ruby I got 20 k for my vehicle with 109 k on mileage so the cost for my new jeep is significantly reduced. so inflated yes but its bad ass.
My dad has been a truck driver since the 80s so when it comes to buying cars I ask my dad since he sees which cars are unreliable (depending on how many times he has to tow certain makes and models). I asked him about jeep wranglers and he says he almost never has to tow one or ever get called to pick one up. according to him they are pretty good. he has a huge sample size and has no bias lol.
As a proud and very happy Jeep Wrangler owner I think a video like this is long overdue. Before I bought my Wrangler I told my mechanic (a rather experienced mechanic at that) that I was buying one. His response was that I was making a smart choice because they harldly ever break and when they do they are relatively easy to work on. Cheers TFL
Cameron Gill one of the easiest vehicles to work on. Took me less then 30 minutes to change my radiator, it's been one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. I've driven my little Jeep all over the US with never a problem, they really are bullet proof if you take care of them. I like how simplistic they are, I've got an 04 LJ with manual windows and door locks, electrical issues are non existent.
I have a 2007 JK - and this is the MOST reliable vehicle I've owned so far. I use it on and offroad in stock condition. With regular oil changes, tires, and brakes I have had ZERO maintenance issues and just crossed 120k miles this past weekend. If you want an American classic for offroad use and onroad style, buy in! JEEP IS GOLD. Resale is always high, they retain value forever, so you can always get some money out and upgrade to a newer model with additional investment. Plus, for hobbyists, they endless accessory stream for Wranglers is a natural. The JEEP is customizable as both a daily driver and an offroad monster.
@@kylethebanjoman3295 that’s a bad question. It’s an off road vehicle. It’s of course going to be great unless there’s a bad driver behind the wheel. If you can’t get it through the snow, then you need to take it back to the dealership for it having a manufacturing issue.
I have a 2014 with 130km the only issue ive had was the fuel injectors which happens to all vehicles over time and then some rusty bolts holding the exaust had to he replaced. Drives great no other issues
Im pretty sure wranglers are all over where ever you are. Considering your go to vehicle is a land cruiser im going to assume your in Australia and ive watched plenty videos of wranglers in the down under lol. Id rather buy a new GrandCherokee or Wrangler and put 30k into upgrades rather then buy a stock land cruiser.
2013 JK owner here, problems I have... 1-Replaced starter twice at 40k miles. Second starter was cheap AutoZone so it failed right away. 2-electronic sway bar disconnect stopped working. Water got inside it. Replaced it with anti rock. Much happier with the Anti Rock. 3- windshield wipers turn on randomly. Can't figure out why but I have reason to believe the electrical system isn't that great. As far as comfort and refinement I love the JK. Seats on the Rubicon are so soft. On my 2017 RAM my ass hurts from sitting too muc long. My Jk has a basic Bluetooth and honestly that's all the amenities I need to be refined
I have the same issue with my sway module, they don't tell you that part isn't really water proof, yet it can ford three feet at 5mph... B.s.! What is an anti-rock is it electronic? Or manual disconnect? I'm not paying 2500 for them top replace that module
Juan Uribe you have a loose ground. Probably on the passenger side of the engine bay, about halfway between air cleaner and the battery. Might not be that one but I think it is. Tighten it down and check your other grounding points as well. Stiff suspension can cause these to loosen.
I had a 2008 JK. For the 11 years I owned it, I loved it! The AC/heat work flawlessly. Not much road noise and I ran 32x12.5 Dick Cepek, Mud Country tires. Wife didn't like the cozy quarters of the JK so, she didn't ride with me much. :) I'd sell my current F250 if, the new Commander, could pull my camper. To the Jeep haters, It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand!
Just bought a 2014 Wrangler Sahara 2 door this year. It was lifted by the previous owner but I replaced the 35" mud terrain tires with stock sized all terrains and it drives so much nicer. I didn't buy it for a comfy ride and fancy interior, I bought it because it is like a truck and the interior is basic and the seats are comfy, no clue why people complain about them. I am 6'2" tall and weigh 280 pounds and I fit in it comfortably. I also like that the back seat can simply be removed.
2008 #DDWranger with over 170,000 miles. No reliability issues other than what I would consider typical wear and tear. Definitely not the most refined vehicle to drive but I LOVE being able to drop the top during the summer and drive through blizzards during the winter on my long daily commute. Not gonna lie and say it is a perfect vehicle though. Defrost and windshield washer cover the middle of the windshield but don't get the driver side particularly well. Consumes oil so it needs to be topped off periodically. Door hinges corrode causing the doors to stick, paint to peel and water streaks below. Not sure if these issues have been fixed in newer models. Hopefully when the next Wrangler redesign happens things like this will not be an issue.
#DDWrangler Unlimited Rubicon - totally stock. Love it - drives great to and from work and play. I plan to "Just Empty Every Pocket" as much as I can to make it my unique Jeep...
1995 wrangler 4.0cyl 2.5 liter with 215,000 miles. I keep maintenance up on it and it still holds up beautifully. I daily drive it and take it on trails and even rescued a few people with it. Definitely a reliable vehicle.
TheSockNapper But, you good sir, own a real Jeep. Yj's are great. Many Jeep enthusiasts consider the Tj's the last real Wranglers. Jk's are Italian made junk
I just turned 60 and love my 2013 Wrangler Sport 2 door. Came with the hardtop. Couple years ago I got a great deal on a tinted softop rightout of the box off Kijiji. Like to tow it behind motorhome. Follows wonderfully. I kind of look forward to that blizzard. Love plowing through the snow. Have a tow rope if someone might be stuck.
no issues to date and i had my jk since 2010. It's just like any car keep up with routine maintenance and its fine. Plus I have features on top of features remote car start, nav, apple carplay/ android auto, back-up cam just a few. I think my ruby is doing fine, and loved the purchase! #dailydriven
I never imagine owning a Jeep Wrangler and after owning my first Jeep 2016, it turned out to be the best investment for my family. My wife fights with me almost everyday because we agree in taking turns to drive it. But that was one agreement that I couldn’t honor. 😁
I have a 2014 Rubicon. I drive mine daily and just passed 130000 miles. I had a fuel injector go bad at 90000 and had to replace the lifters and rocker arms at 120000. I fixed them both myself. I find it to be very reliable and wheel offroad just about every weekend. Frankly I am surprised it holds up as well as it does!
Just one more thing. No matter what you own even if you have never had a problem with yours. Someone else has had a problem with the same make and model. Everything can be beat down and bad mouthed. I believe that if you treat your vehicles like it were a woman. Meaning take care of it and dont neglect it, it will serve you well. I'm no spring chicken. I bought a new 72 Toyota Land Cruiser in 1972. They gave me crap about buying it and said it would never last. Well it served me well until a couple of years ago when some guy offered me 15 times what I paid for it new. Take care of your stuff and they will last. Now if some guy would offer me 15 times what I have put into the wife she would be gone too.
I take real good care of mine. I repair/replace between fill-ups, and leave it parked in the garage when it's not in the shop. I always admired others for keeping their little treasure parked most of the time and realized only after I bought my own that you cannot drive them because of death-wobble, from overheated brakes to worn axles to a number of things, and gets maybe 13 mpg if even running. I have other vehicles to drive so JK can rest there in the garage till I find someone stupid enough to pay it off for me.
#ddwrangler ....and 4" lift on 37's...people who bash wrangler have a complete bias because they don't understand the separation of "built for to go to the grocery store" and "built to climb Imogene Pass" etc. A Wrangler is not a Tahoe, Expedition, Rav4, or whatever else they drive mostly. It stands alone in a single class that at the moment has no other vehicles to compare to in the US market. #geauxwheelin
Drove mine off into ditch mud pit flowing water under 1.5 feet of snow. Thought now way I am getting out done. Drove it out easily. 20 miles up on a mountain alone. Stock Jeep. 106000 on it. 2009. drives like a champ. Dealer put new rear seals on and differential parts. Would never live without a 2 door jeep again. Ever.
#DDW love my jeep. They are great... as long as you know what you are buying. For example, one wouldnt buy a honda accord and be upset that it doesnt tow well, or a 2 door truck and be upset that the small space in the back wont fit a kids seat. I think jeep people understand the jeep. The saying "its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" is very true
I don't know what you're talking about. I had an 04 EX coupe 5 speed and it towed a 4000lb firebird 5 miles without a complaint. Some of the trip was uphill too! That car could handle just about anything as long as I didn't slide it into a curb in the snow (or three). I spent a lot of time replacing control arms on that slippery car...
Stefan Bacon surely you understand the basic idea of what I'm saying, the base concept. That being, no real suprises when you buy a jeep. Obviously you can do many things vehicles weren't intended for, but they (vehicle x) are far from ideal for odd and end circumstances that they clearly weren't made for. Sure you can tow in your prius, but you will see more wear , more poor performance
themighty9mm #DDW about to hit 200k on my 2010. Parents own a 3rd gen cattle ranch, I duck hunt, I'm Offroad in some nasty places a lot. I have 35' and only a 2.5' AEV lift and the only drawback is the tire noise but I need those nitto grapplers. I have a hard top hoist in my garage and can be topless in literally 5 minutes. The only thing major I had to do was change out the gears when going above a 33' tire but that's not mandatory. I've never had any major mechanical issues since I've owned my Jeep besides standard wear and tear.
TiresBiggerThanTexas it's not the size of the tires as it is the skill of the driver. For instance, a few months ago I watched a YJ on 33s make record time on a rock coarse that had stomped everyone including a rock bouncer.
I own a 2015 Unlimited. It’s still tight. Rides and drives like the day it was made. Motor is perfect. It does go through front end parts quicker than other vehicles, but that’s attributed to lift/35” tire combination. And yes, it gets groceries and carts me to work. We do trails on weekends. #dailydriver
kingmike40 yeah no kidding. The more I see sophisticated setups the more I dread having to fix it if it breaks, especially because I’m a heavy equipment mechanic so brand new tractor trailer trucks and loaders and whatnot with such high tech setups (pitch, yaw, latitude and longitude setups on a new loader. I’ve NEVER heard of it until we bought a new one) are a nightmare because they never include enough documentation to troubleshoot an issue because it’s computer controlled 99% of the time
I've owned forty motor vehicles since the '70s, typically several at a time. My '13 Wrangler 6MT 2 dr hardtop is the first Jeep I've owned and it's easily in my top five favorite vehicles out of the forty. I've taken it on hiking and camping trips all over the West and it's my go-to daily driver (I don't have to commute for work). It's had zero problems so far in 56k miles. It's unlifted with 285/70R17 (33") BFG AT/TA's, which is a great combo for driving either on or off road up to and including sustained freeway speeds, and the 6MT makes it fun to drive. It's the perfect combo for what I use it for, which is mostly on road but with some hilly, sandy trails with occasional wash-outs thrown in.
I've owned an 1988, 1992, 2002 and now a 2012 Wrangler and driven them all as my daily driver. Total mileage around 300,000. This started in Ohio and now happens in New Mexico. The only time I have been without my Jeep in almost 30 years due to Maintenance issues was when I blew the engine crossing a deep section of a stream without a snorkel during a flood,. I stupidly tried to move too fast and pushed water into the intake.... The jeep would have done fine if I had had better 4-wheel driving skills. If yo want a Corolla, buy a Corolla. If you want to have fun in an amazing ride that will take you (almost) anywhere , buy a Jeep! I'm planning to buy another in 2022!
so you have put an avarage of 75k on each one? thats barely broken in, no wonder you think their reliable. put that 300k on a single jeep and see how it goes. my 91 f150 has 289k with the original engine, transmission, transfer case, axles, etc. and has survived 27 years of minnesota winters and neglectfull owners
I'm in New Mexico with a jeep as well. Id be willing to argue that with the right build a jeep can go anywhere. I have friends with jeeps that are from the 1980's and have well over 350,000 miles on the engine. this is with years of driving on bigger tires with a lift too!
shonuffisthemaster retired my still going strong XJ Cherokee with 280k on it. Original engine, automatic transmission, axels, transfer case, steering box and pump. Survived 21 CT winters with liquid road salts. Retired it just to upgrade, I’d have driven anywhere in it without a second thought. Older Jeeps are plenty reliable.
I have a 2001 Cherokee with 270,000 miles on it, original everything - and it's ready for 270,000 more. It's all in how you drive. Jeep before that I sold with 240,000 miles on it, in excellent condition all around.
l bought a 2008 wrangler jk about 2 months ago. i drive it every day.and love it. feel like im driving a big toy. im 63 years old. next to my 1967 chevelle ss i had when i was a kid.out of all the vehicles iv had.this by far the funnest.
One of the best selling SUVS, actually top 10 to be precise, this vehicle is so customizable, to the point you can litterally put your own spin and personality into it, reliability it owns it, that's why people have made "The Jk", jeep life almost like a religion and lifestyle, I mean look up JK Experience for a good example, The Wrangler is, simplistic at its natural core but, that allows for so much more than you realize, like feeling like your apart of the environment your driving in, whether it's out on the sandy beaches, rock crawling in the Rockies or mud bogging in the south east, JEEP or JEEPING is a way of life and a lifestyle all together, those who own these vehicles enjoy them more than most vehicles on the road, it's just a Jeep thing and only jeep owners will ever understand that.
Murphinite Agreed! I've never seen a vehicle with that big of an aftermarket available. JK has way more parts available for customization then any other Jeep or vehicle.
Driving a jeep is fun, feels like a tank, Kinda like the 5th gen camaros. However the community is full of idiots, and I have a low tolerance for ignorance.
Dig a little deeper into those Consumer Reports studies and you will see they are complaints from people that bought it for the cool factor and not for it's intended use.
Consumer Reports does a breakdown of how they conduct these surveys. I also cross check with www.carcomplaints.com. If you look close, many of the "issues" are isolated to certain model years and/or trim levels.
www.jdpower.com/cars/jeep/wrangler/2012 Ive been looking at different models including the tiguan and on the number of vehicles sold its more likele that some ended up with lemons, but was looking at toyotas andyou really need to try hard to find people complaining about engines. I love the concept of the jeep, the looks, but does it need to have such a cheap interior at that price? Dont get me wrong, im all for simplicity and utility, but it could be very high quality and still very simple and rugged. But I know jeeps fans will be offended by this comment but it just seems like a large part of the price is related to the branding and image more than bulletproof reliability which is not to say that many customers might have trouble free jeeps. Just seems like they are charging premium for basics.
I am the proud owner of a 2018 f250xlt, my wife owns a 2018 jk unlimited. It’s a chief blue model, loaded. It’s her daily driver, and she loves it. I must admit, I also love it. It puts a smile on my face, every time I get the chance to drive it. I think it’s better in city driving than it gets credit for. My wife is 5’0 tall, she loves it for shopping, she finds it easy to park, due to how well she can see. We are Canadian, my wife looks forward to snow now. That is where this vehicle shines brightest, bad road conditions. I have more confidence in that 4door Jeep, than in my f250, or my Bobcat, in a snowstorm. I push snow for part of my living, I am a decent driver, in an emergency it’s the wrangler for me. Love the channel guys!
@@Adriansito1506 it may be the worst decision of your life. I bought a 2016 JK. It has been a month check engine light comes on all the time and I have had nothing but problems with it. They are pieces of shit. PERIOD
@@Adriansito1506 Nice! Those are awesome and super capable off-road. Glad you went with something more reliable and didn’t make the mistake I did. This is definitely not a “debunk”video. All the “myths” about jeep wranglers being unreliable or not myths. They are facts!
I totally agree about jeep in general. I grew up with grand cherokees that are always so "unreliable". All three - a 1999, 2005 and a 2015 are all still on the road. The two older ones both have over 170k miles with no serious issues. I now have a Wrangler and I love it.
My '01 Grand Cherokee is still going great and its at over 250k mileage. The only true issue I have had with it was the cracked head (casting manufacturing defect for this year model), but replace that and you're good to go for around $1,000. I fully expect this thing to roll over the 300k mark no problem.
My ZJ was super reliable. I got rid of it when it was 15 years old and had 165k miles, and up till that time it had never let me down. Zero engine or transmission problems, only issues were suspension and steering related due to the lift kit I put on it. Only reason I got rid of it was the damn rust (thanks New England!). The thing still ran perfect.
You do realize that the majority of online hate comments for _any_ vehicle, typically comes from people who have never even driven before, right? They're kids who watch a few videos and play driving games on their Xbox, so they think they know something.
Charles Eye Thank you. I hate everyone that thinks there truck or car is the best. You cant talk shit if you haven't driven it. Just like food. Can't hate it till you've tried it.
Max T. So the shit you talk is due to experience that you've had with said cars? You spend a lot of time driving various vehicles without a license? Or have you collected irrefutable data about each vehicle to defend your point of view? Those would be the only ways to know what you're talking about. Anything less is hearsay.
My wife has a 2015 Sport S and it is her #DDWrangler. And I drive it as much as I can... The only time I was kinda uncomfortable was when we drove from Illinois to Florida and had an 18 hour drive day. The only problem we have had has been with the radiator leaking which I've heard is a design flaw, but as soon as the warranty is up an all aluminum radiator will fix that. I feel the only people that complain about Wranglers, are people that got them for the status and not because they actually wanted a Wrangler. To them I usually say get a Cherokee, or Renegade, if you can't get a Grand Cherokee.
I’ve had a Rubicon new since May 2016. Replaced a 2001 Xterra from new with 276k miles on it. I use mine as a daily driver and after 52k miles no complaints. Love it. This thing is a rock star! Plan on owning this forever like the Xterra.
Had my 3.6 JK for 4 years now and have loved every minute - except the cost of keeping it on the going . Spent several thousand dollars on finding a recurring “sensor fault” (Engine warning light / ESP light and going into limp mode when driving over a small bump in the road), replacing numerous rockers (failed needle bearings) and several other “electrical faults. It never left me stranded, so I wouldn’t say unreliable - just expensive to keep going. I have no intentions of buying anything else (except maybe a CJ with no sensors, no computers and a basic engine that doesn’t need a computerised workshop to service it).
I traded my black on black 2013 Porsche Carrera 911 S and bought a 2017 Rubicon Recon for me, 2017 Jeep Sahara for my wife and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sports for my daugther. You'll never know how fun of a car it is until you own one. There's definitely a cool factor that's only unique to this vehicle. Every other car just got boring... including my Porsche.
Ron Salazar Hey man i couldn't of said it better. .. i love my Rubicon JKU and prefer it over a G wagon, Range Rover, and even a BMW X5. I have it all hooked up and it gets more compliments than all those other vehicles combined. i offroad constantly in the mojave desert and never had an issue. its almost at the 100k mark too. I still kept my BMW 3 series though haha
My wife has a 2012 JK Sahara Unlimited and that thing is fully loaded and I’ll tell you it’s hands down 100x nicer then my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. Super comfy, built in Nav, leather heated seats, power everything, I almost wanted to joke in saying that it wasn’t jeep enough but she’s able to rock crawl and off road with almost anyone anywhere. Still in love with it.
I had one of those Jeeps for almost two weeks as a loaner. It was 4 door hardtop w/ 3.6L engine & an automatic transmission. I think it was a Sahara. It was actually brand new w/ less than 500 miles on the odometer. I strictly drove it city & highway miles & put something like approx 400 to 600 miles on it (I don't remember my exact mileage). I dared not take it off road for fear of putting a scratch on it. I really enjoyed it & took extra trips just for the fun of driving it. I thought the handling & road manners were very refined for being a "truck". Also I was really impressed w/ the interior appointments & level of refinement. It had been decades since I had been in a Jeep. I was impressed w/ the vehicle overall. My regular vehicle is a late model 4 door sedan w/ independent suspension. So naturally I could tell a difference between my independent suspension sedan versus the solid axle Jeep. However as stated earlier, I was really impressed w/ the Jeeps quality of ride. (edit) I forgot to mention. The window sticker was in the glove box & I believe the MSRP was approx $38,000.
Here's the thing about a Jeep... It has pretty damn great acceleration for a vehicle that can go where this thing ACTUALLY goes. On road performance is blah, but with the available aftermarket parts, even that can be fixed.... You want 0 - 60 in under 5 seconds, the aftermarket will help you put a HEMI or an LSX in it. You want soft ride? Aftermarket has you covered. You want cornering like it's on rails... um... It can go offroad!
As an 2010 JKU owner that I bought new I can say this: Pros, even in stock non rubicon form it is a highly off-road capable vehicle and minor modifications will vastly improve on that capability and still remain with a reasonable ride comfort. Good aftermarket mod parts support by now allowing to customize/personalize your Jeep to give it a unique look. It can take a beating and until now it never left me stranded or had to get towed. Now to the cons, brand new a steering column selector switch didn't work and needed replacement, an aerodynamic brick with poor gas milage, auto transmission (4 speed RLE42) overheating at around 10K during a milk-run off-road tour in the mountains, it didn't burn down but it likely caused damage to the transmission shortening its life span, various water leaks on either soft-top or hard top, several annoying squeaks and rattles early on but @30k Jeep got slightly lifted (2.5") and 35" Toyo Open Country MTs installed so the squeaks and rattles are of no importance from then on. Also added and additional trans fluid cooler to combat transmission overheating which keeps reoccurring. At 45K Power steering pump shaft seal leak just out of warranty requiring new pump. Water pump shaft seal leaks and replacement at about 50 and 100K . Clock-spring failure at around 80K with no warranty here. Transmission shift solenoid failure with limp mode and 2-4 clutch burned at 120K requiring transmission rebuild (damage from early overheating?!), three occasions i do not remember at which mileage they happened where the CanBus freaked out with instrument cluster going nuts and not allowing the trans to shift into drive. Battery disconnect and reconnect fixed that issue but that could have left an tech unsavy person stranded. Other things where I cannot really blame Chrysler/Jeep component quality for are bend tie rod and track bar, smashed steering stabilizer (not needed anyways), death wobble due to worn bushings on aftermarket trackbar, Front driveshaft CV Joint boot failure, Valve failure on charcoal canister after the jeeps ass end was submerged in water for 10 minutes until I winched out of it and other off-road related battle scars that just add character. I love my JKU despite the issues it had but I'm certainly not on good terms with Chrysler especially on the early transmission failure.
Damn, I have 150 k on my '08 and have only done clockspring under warranty, the ECM went crazy at 50k, The radiator at 130k, I had death wobble at about 30k probably because of lift kit, but fixed with heavy duty track bar. Mine is a manual, and still has original clutch and brake pads believe it or not ... I never skip any service, and always change fluids immediately after deep water crossing....but overall I would say the JK is a darn reliable rig.
I had a 2012 for7yrs and had 1 issue, a brake pad seized to the rotor and got very, very hot. On Sept. 15 th of this year I totaled my buddy on I95 in Boston. Very sad day so when people say the jk undeniable...they're full of crap!!! Keep up the good work.....Bob
My 2013 JK is a daily driver it doesn’t break it just runs it’s a Rubicon. Leather seats just like a Cadillac!! Six speed manual transmission just like yours Tommy . Without a doubt coolest vehicle I’ve ever driven!! It’s the ultimate sport car!!!
I'll bet that 2017 Wrangler is way, way more comfortable than my 88 yj. If there is a dime in the road, I can tell if it is heads or tails. That being said, I love my old YJ. To me, a new JK would be akin to buying a luxury car, as far as comfort. Reliability? Why did Jeep have to add on another shift at their manufacturing plant? Because they cant keep up with demand. Now the new 2018 JL is out and being touted as even better.
Most of experts say the same when they test or compare a Jeep (especially Wrangler or Grand Cherokee): both vehicles are the best on the market, despite Toyofans hate that fact and keep saying Jeeps are not reliable, but Jeeps rule the 4x4 off-road vehicles in the US and outsell Toyota, even when "not reliable"... lol. Cheers from Costa Rica.
I have a 2012 unlimited sport and I put 130,000 miles on it and i only did a 2.5 lift and a few u joints. I love my jeep. Nothing but love and respect from Brookfield Connecticut!!
I own an 03 TJ that I bought when it was one year old. It now has over 140,000 miles and has had very little maintenance and last year I towed it to Alaska where I used it to drive several back roads to different parts of Alaska. How many 16 year old cars would you trust to go on back roads in Alaska? I didn't buy it for comfort or economy and I have NEVER been disappointed in it. Moreover, I LOVE it. I hope to keep it another decade at least. I use it everyday and would trust it to go anywhere I choose to go. I am an old guy so I don't abuse it in any way but it has served me well and continues to do so. I am a happy Jeep owner in Utah. There is no shortage of back roads to play on here.
I live in Upstate New York. I have a 2014 JK Unlimited with a soft top. I bought it new, it's my only car, and I drive it every day. It's reliable, no brake downs, no major repairs, only general maintenance. I find the ride to be comfortable, not luxurious. The cabin stays comfortable (warm and cool, depending on the Heat/AC setting). One complaint is poor gas mileage. The other is that after some time, the hinge bushings corroded making the doors stiff to open and close. I bought a replacement plastic bushings kit, PB Blaster and set aside 2 days to remove and replace the bushings. It wasn't a horrible project but required some patience. I was quite satisfied after it was done. In all, Jeep Wranglers are fine vehicles. They just aren't meant for everyone. ✌🏽👍🏽
#DDWrangler 18JKUR. I think a lot of people buy used and abused jeeps and expect perfection. I traded my 16 4runner in and never looked back, it probably would have lasted 300k+ but It would have been a mediocre journey.
@@simoncohn-gruenwald8867 Sorry i'm late on this. There's nothing wrong with the Runner and it's the more practical of the two. The ability to take the top and doors off the jeep is great. The Jeep just has it's own personality and a big "smile factor' where my 4runner just felt like anything else.
same jeep here! well over 180k miles with no issues. still running like the first day i drove it off the lot. run it through mud, over rocks, over the sand at the beach, take the doors off, top etc
I know this is several years old (it popped up in my suggested play list today).. I daily drive a 2012 JKU 6sp manual 3inch Teraflex and 35's . It is by far more comfortable that my 1993 YJ that I had many years ago. It rides about the same as my wife's 2020 Kia Rio but is a LOT safer and more fun to drive. It starts every time I turn the key too!
Nice video! I agree that the biggest problem is people do not understand what the Wrangler is designed for, this is not your comfy daily driver, it is an off road king! My dad is a big Ford guy and knocked by Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon Recon, but it put his F150 to shame. Plus, I drove this vehicle 1200+ miles open road in a single trip and was very comfortable. Rear seat passenger may have been sore, but as drive I was completely fine. Wrangler is it what it is, you cannot beat it in off road performance. Not to knock your vehicle, you have not even pushed the limits of your Wrangler. P.S. Charolette is amazing! #DDWrangler
#DDWrangler JKU Sport S, 21k miles and not one issue. Just drove from San Jose to Yosemite (200 miles) in 95+ degree weather. With soft top up and A/C, drive was cool and comfortable.
So I thought I'd post back on this video.. I sold the 4Runner and now am the proud owner of a JLU. The updated ride, interior, and transmission won me over. I love it!
Daily diver of a '07 JK here. I often leave the doors at home and the front part of the hard top. When it rains, I just wipe the seat and sit. It drains through the holes that are made for that. I took the carpets off. I'm thinking of having it Line-X'd everywhere inside. I love it.
#DDWrangler - Daily driven 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Moab with a family of four including a 23 month old and 8 year old. Not a mall roader here either, love going off road with the family. 40 mile daily commute to work and top down stress reliever all in one with no compromises. Definitely a Jeep thing that doesn't have to be explained.
I purchased a 2008 JK Unlimited Rubicon with 3.8L Pentastar in December 2007. I drive it everyday both on road and off road (used it for work as a land surveyor for 5 years) past ten years. I have 315k miles and counting. I towed a 2500lb trailer for more than 220k miles of that. Trouble free for first 215k miles, that’s when I replaced the water pump. The next thing i replaced was the harmonic balancer when it sheered a bolt at 310K, had it replaced under warranty(Lifetime Powertrain warranty). Looking forward to putting 1million miles on it! 02/07/2021 Update: 325k miles and still going strong!
Well, I have a 2017 JK very basic model and I love it. My principal vehicle is a Dodge RAM 1500 Longhorn so the contrast in equipment and comfort is night and day. I have used the Jeep to commute to the city a good 110km each way. Yes it is basic, but that is one of the reasons I love it. My wife hates it, which is quite funny actually as she once had a convertible Mini which is not exactly comfort driving!! I have hesitated to do upgrades because I like the base look but watching your channel I would like to change the front bumper to one like your grey JK, with the fog lights and winch. The two major upgrades I have done....I installed a new Alpine sound system with a touch screen and Apple Carplay which was a real game changer; secondly, I bought a hard top in a scrap yard and installed it. The latter was quite a challenge. One of the downsides of driving the Jeep in the winter on crazy Montreal area winter roads, was the soft top. The windows were always filthy and difficult to clean without scratching the plastic, they were actually a danger. So I found a nice hard top for $1700 Cdn but I wrongly assumed that the wiring and wiper kit would be installed in all Jeeps so facilitate this upgrade. It took a Jeep dealer 13 hours to install the kit, they had to remove the steering wheel and dash to get it done, big job. The hard top has solved all the issues I had with winter driving and I am even more attached to the vehicle now. So thinking about new bumper, wheels/tires and small lift to make it mine. I am keeping the step rails despite the fact that purists hate them, they are great in parking lots when people want to ding your doors!! I wish I had AC but that was a crazy project to undertake so I gave up on it. Would have been more economical to just trade it in for one that had that option. All summer no doors and no roof for me, love it. I take the back seat out and put my dogs in the back with car leashes attached to the seat anchors, they love it too! My wife is a work in progress with respect to the Jeep, but on a hot summer day with the roof and doors off....she won’t say it, but I know she likes it. Things that would really improve the design of this vehicle as a daily driver would include an all wheel drive option, this would make it safer and more practical on winter roads at speed. Better/more storage could easily be incorporated and that would add value as well. Maybe I will drive it Colorado and have you guys do my upgrades for me after this pandemic is over, make a video on the “Upgrade of the Canadian JK the Wife Hates!”, that might be fun viewing!! Might be a nice way to get rid of the cabin fever that is setting in all over. I live in a small town near the Vermont border in a region of Quebec that has become the epicenter of the pandemic here because snowbirds coming back from Florida refused to self isolate as required. So locked up and safe, but dreaming Jeeps!! Stay healthy and keep doing these great videos.
I just purchased my first ever Wrangler. 2018 JK Sport Golden Eagle edition. I drove it from the dealership 900 miles to my house. I just stopped for fuel and snacks. I could have kept going. I thought it was really comfortable. Cannot wait to take it off roading.
Here is the thing with FCA - they make GREAT stuff that falls apart around 80k miles. Frankly ANY car in 2017 should be reliable enough to have a mostly trouble free experience in the warrantee period. I mean, thats expected right? The trouble is what happens after that. I realize Its anecdotal at best but I had a good long chat with a NPS ranger in the Maze district in canyonlands national park. They use JKU's to patrol the park and unlike other parks this one REQUIRES a jeep level vehicle...its about 1-2 hour graded dirt road to get INTO the park and the rest of the park is pretty legit. She told me that she likes the capability but not how fast they wear out. She was on her 3rd one in 5 years because after a very short amount of time they start to become very unreliable and start to basically fall apart. Sure its being used hard, but we're talking less than 40,000 miles before replacement. Its not that they aren't nice new...what car isn't...its what is it going to be like at 100k?
Thank you for that objective, fact based anecdote that conveniently serves to confirm your anti-Jeep bias. Why isn't my Wrangler falling apart at 110,000?
Patrick Rich ..i have owned 1 CJ and 2 Wranglers along with 3 XJs and no problems with any of them . The TJs and XJs from 1997 to 2001 used pretty much the same parts and built at the same place . All my Jeeps had over 100000 when I sold them and except my TJ , and they had no issues .
Cool video. I've been driving an '03 Rubicon TJ everyday since they pulled it out of the showroom for me 17 years ago (October 2002 actually, 3 years until a rebuild:). It's a bit bumpy, but it's not horrible, the YJs were bumpy AF. I'll say this, it's one of the easier vehicles to park, not too many spots it won't fit. My hesitation with the newer jeeps is the V6. At first I thought they were ugly, but they've grown on me. The last thing I'd think about the newer Wranglers is unsophisticated, I think the complete opposite, they're getting too sophisticated. #DDWrangler
I have an 07 Wrangler Unlimited with 290,000 kms, I’ve own it since 2008 and drive it everyday and still love it. Just replaced the clutch at 288,000 kms, still running great. What more can a person want.
Pistol Chronicles Pistol Chronicles my recommendation is to take a vacation with a hot girl. You go to the mountains, you have to make sure you check oil on both. you will discover the true of double pleasure and more if you used a good oil. will go to 100% luvricar later you will realize when you put the lever in slip smooth and the girl and your car will thank you and return home and work triple ok lol.
$50 a week in gas! Geez I do $10 every two weeks in My Toyota. That's the main reason I have been derailed from buying a Jeep. And My friend who has the 4 door is always complaining about the gas mileage. And now she is dealing with the death wobble issues. IDK, waiting for now. Actually looking at a Toyota truck or maybe an FJ. Can't beat Toyota Reliability and style.
Truth is owning a wrangler is a luxury. They are expensive impractical and high maintenance. They are more of a symbolic toy vehicle. They are fun and cool for sure but that's about it. If someone disagrees you love your wrangler toooo much
I DD my JK everyday and drive it to wind rock off road park in Tennessee from Ohio (8 hour drive) 3 times a year and it very comfortable and very very reliable #ddwrangler
I have the first jk, a 2007 3.8. It still looks great, has been as reliable as the sunrise and has nearly 220,000 km on it. I live at the end of a very rough dirt road - so it is no mall crawler either. Simple to fix, reliable, comfortable and an off road weapon.
Bought our first JKU Sport 2016 for my Husband loved it so much that I went and found a 2014 JKU Sport 👍 for my myself. My son and his wife own a 2016 JKU too and they love it 😊 So I guess you can say we are a jeep family
I had to retire my old Ford and bought me a Jeep to get up the mountain. I'm in love. Miss my old 81 Custom, but this Wrangler has stolen my heart.
Jeeps are great for the purpose for which they are built. The only problem I have with them is how over-inflated their costs have gotten. It's ridiculous.
Mark Gutekunst, DC couldn't agree more.
Amen to that, brother. It's supply and demand, and these things sell as fast as they come off the line...poor reputation or not.
So get the base model
They are truly incredible vehicles. The most fun one can have on four wheels without breaking any speed limits, or endangering oneself or others.
True!
Very well said. I just always Love my JEEP. Even the earlier models are Great!
How's it in snow? My 1st yr with a 2008 jk. I put tires and a winch (12,000 lb) on it.
I commute 45 min 1 way through the country for work.
@@kylethebanjoman3295 that’s a bad question. It’s an off road vehicle. It’s of course going to be great unless there’s a bad driver behind the wheel. If you can’t get it through the snow, then you need to take it back to the dealership for it having a manufacturing issue.
I just gave my 2015 JKU to my son. Never had a single issue, and we drive it hard. He’s over the moon happy with it. Great car.
spectech73 wow...good for u
Can you adopt me?
I have a 2014 with 130km the only issue ive had was the fuel injectors which happens to all vehicles over time and then some rusty bolts holding the exaust had to he replaced. Drives great no other issues
You exit the car, turn around, look at it and you can't stop smiling ;)
FhargaZ I have a 2016 Black Bear and I do the exact same thing. lol
And when that Jeep gets stuck in the snow or mud, my Toyota Tacoma can help you out. So it's a win win. Sweet.
Hahahahahaha, American's should stick to the road if that's the 4wd's they buy. Wtf is a toyota tacoma. Import a landcruiser and grow up.
Yeah true - Just got mine and modding it.. Now it doesn't look like how it did when I got it
2013 JK owner here, problems I have...
To the Jeep haters, It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand!
well said!
Diragonoman couldn't agree more my dude
TheSockNapper I love Jeep Cherokee Grand I own one my self but I would love to get a wrangler. In drivers around the world
I just turned 60 and love my 2013 Wrangler Sport 2 door.
I also own a 95 Wrangler 4.0 Jeep with 80,000 miles and like you said.... it runs beautifully
"And then it fixed itself". I can't count how many times I've said that about my Jeep.
John Miller my YJ did this...
I heard that getting that sway bar reconnected is difficult. The trick is to park on level ground to get the pin to line up.
Just got a jeep but my subaru did this all the time
Mine had a periodic vibration when i first bought it at 61K, changed all the fluids and it went away 😂
No vehicle should ever do this at any time in its life. My half a million mile 85 Toyota 4runner never does this lol
I bought my 2008 Rubicon JK with 54k miles for $20k it has everything I wanted. Lift, 35’s winch ,heavy duty bumpers. I love it.
no issues to date and i had my jk since 2010. It's just like any car keep up with routine maintenance and its fine. Plus I have features on top of features remote car start, nav, apple carplay/ android auto, back-up cam just a few. I think my ruby is doing fine, and loved the purchase! #dailydriven
no issues still In 2020?
#DDWrangler 2014 Jk sport 2 door. I love mine. 3.5in lift 35s bfg ko2. bumpers winch lights everything. It's comfortable. its reliable. I love it
MajorHolyNight Where do you offroad?
I juste got the NFG LO2 - the 33's rides nice
BFG LOL
I am a JK daily driver and I have a great time with my family JK. THANKS TFL
I have an 18 rubicon 4 door, no issues! This vehicle is dependable , comfortable and with a lot of bells and whistles. I love it
Just one more thing.
Totally agree.
Bob DeMuth you'd be a billionaire!
Bob DeMuth Lmao "if someone gave me 15 times what I put into the wife she would be gone too"😂😂😂
Your last comment was so funny
The saying "its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" is very true
themighty9mm 100%. Go buy a Prius if you want technology and fuel economy.
45 or gtfo!
Baby Boomers and Yuppies need to be reminded that a Jeep is not a Lincoln town-car!
PunchingMegaTree damn right bud
It may be a piece of shit, but it still made your girl wet for one.
Ethan McLeod JK on 35's right? That's cute💁🏼
Has nothing to do with the baby boomers. We grew up driving CJ's CJ-5's and war time jeeps.
Unsophisticated would be a benefit to me.
kingmike40 yeah no kidding. The more I see sophisticated setups the more I dread having to fix it if it breaks, especially because I’m a heavy equipment mechanic so brand new tractor trailer trucks and loaders and whatnot with such high tech setups (pitch, yaw, latitude and longitude setups on a new loader. I’ve NEVER heard of it until we bought a new one) are a nightmare because they never include enough documentation to troubleshoot an issue because it’s computer controlled 99% of the time
Just bought my first jeep wrangler couldn't be happier wanted one since I was 18 ,32 years later love it
I've owned forty motor vehicles since the '70s, typically several at a time.
Older Jeeps are plenty reliable.
shonuffisthemaster not to mention ford’s less than stellar reputation for reliability as well.
My sisters 92 Cherokee has 280,000 miles and still drives amazingly
38,000 miles is not an indication of reliability. 380,000 miles is reliablility.
Which vehicle is that?
manbeastx69 Most every Honda or Toyota if you're able to avoid accidents. And I've owned Jeeps, Hondas, and Toyotas.
Which Honda or Toyota?
LOL, 300,000+ on every Toyota or Honda, what an idiot.
Murphinite this guy owns a fidget spinner

Murphinite The backwards hat wearing douche bag that drives a Jeep
Driving a jeep is fun, feels like a tank, Kinda like the 5th gen camaros. However the community is full of idiots, and I have a low tolerance for ignorance.
Dig a little deeper into those Consumer Reports studies and you will see they are complaints from people that bought it for the cool factor and not for it's intended use.
Drofmurd Troll how would I go about finding that data?
Consumer Reports does a breakdown of how they conduct these surveys. I also cross check with www.carcomplaints.com. If you look close, many of the "issues" are isolated to certain model years and/or trim levels.
Edmunds has a good number of reviews written by owners that seem real. I haven't looked at the Jeep reviews.
www.jdpower.com/cars/jeep/wrangler/2012
Ive been looking at different models including the tiguan and on the number of vehicles sold its more likele that some ended up with lemons, but was looking at toyotas andyou really need to try hard to find people complaining about engines.
Jeeps start below $25,000. The interior may look cheap to some but I see it as easy to clean. If I had a Jeep you can bet there would be mud inside.
2014 Wrangler Unlimited, I drive it daily, take it off road and bash it around. Best car I have ever owned.
Same, best vehicle I've ever owned
I drive my everyday it has 145000 miles and is a 2012 for me is perfect
Im about to buy a 2012 but I m sooooo scared about what they say of the 2012 being a recall monster and Im about to buy used for 12.5k
@@Adriansito1506 it may be the worst decision of your life. I bought a 2016 JK. It has been a month check engine light comes on all the time and I have had nothing but problems with it. They are pieces of shit. PERIOD
@@sector783 I went with a Toyota Hilux 2017 SR5
@@Adriansito1506 Nice! Those are awesome and super capable off-road. Glad you went with something more reliable and didn’t make the mistake I did. This is definitely not a “debunk”video. All the “myths” about jeep wranglers being unreliable or not myths. They are facts!
Got a 2016 hardrock Rubicon. Love it.
I totally agree about jeep in general. I grew up with grand cherokees that are always so "unreliable". All three - a 1999, 2005 and a 2015 are all still on the road. The two older ones both have over 170k miles with no serious issues. I now have a Wrangler and I love it.
it was the zj that was unreliable, especially with the v8.
Zackery Cail Also less likely to roll over and extremely reliable and never want to stop and also work good for daily driving
Max T. So the shit you talk is due to experience that you've had with said cars? You spend a lot of time driving various vehicles without a license? Or have you collected irrefutable data about each vehicle to defend your point of view? Those would be the only ways to know what you're talking about. Anything less is hearsay.
They can hate all they want, but resale values don't lie, one of the best resale values on the planet the last 20 years.
If you're not in a rolls royce, an 18 hour drive day would suck in any car. Lol
I have bought three jeeps in a row. Love my JEEP.
I got a 07 jk and have spent 1000 + oil every 5k and no problems
2008 JKU 156k so far daily driven. I love it.
I have an 08 jk I daily it has 37”tires a 6 speed and 257k still runs strong here in Colorado. Original motor and trans second clutch.
Trolls
Just bought a Basic Wrangler Unlimited Sport and I LOVE IT!!!
Well part of why I love jeeps are their simplicity something going away with the newer ones
I just bought my first Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2011 I love it 😻
I had one of those Jeeps for almost two weeks as a loaner.
The window sticker was in the glove box & I believe the MSRP was approx $38,000.
only a jeep driver can appreciate the handling and offroad onroad ability on jeep !! nobody expect jeep to fly or go 0to60 in 2 sec!!! iits a jeep !
The clock spring is a recall. On all wranglers
2011 wrangler everyday. I love it
2017 willys - soft top & half doors. Daily driven, love it
My 2013 JK is a daily driver it doesn’t break it just runs it’s a Rubicon. Leather seats just like a Cadillac!! Six speed manual transmission just like yours Tommy . Without a doubt coolest vehicle I’ve ever driven!! It’s the ultimate sport car!!!

DDriven2018 JKU, 2 1/2 years old 32,000 miles so far. 0 issues, None, Nada. Wife and I are recently retired and plan to keep this one FOREVER!
5 years old now with 54,000 miles. Still 0 issues 👌. We absolutely love it!
2008 JKU Sahara, loud and rough and I love it. First and only owner and it's been getting looks since day 1!
Same here. What color is yours?

Ty O'Banion what’s wrong with the 4runner? Im choosing between the two atm
175,000 miles on my 2010 Jk.
I have driven the same Jeep Wrangler for 26 years, this year I bought a 2016 JK two door, it is like I went from a log wagon to a Cadillac. I love it!
You need to have Charlotte in more videos!!! She makes the videos much more interesting.

I disagree. I think he did fine.

Love the show guys. I drive my 2008 jk Sahara everyday bought it used but it's a great daily driver. Everything I wanted it to be 👍
same jeep here! well over 180k miles with no issues. still running like the first day i drove it off the lot. run it through mud, over rocks, over the sand at the beach, take the doors off, top etc
Stay healthy and keep doing these great videos.
re. self isolate lol.. that has since been proven to be TOTAL bs as was the whole plan-dem-ic.
I have my 4th Jeep. Great vehicle and it was Enzo Ferrari's favorite vehicle.
Why isn't my Wrangler falling apart at 110,000?
maybe you aren't trying hard enough. give a ring when you get to 300,000
Patrick Rich ..my Jeep has 155000 , still running strong .
Your XJ. Which isn't a wrangler, nor was it made by FCA
#dailydrivenwrangler I drive mine 7 days a week. I work two jobs and average $50 a week in gas. Wouldn't have it any other way
Pistol Chronicles Pistol Chronicles my recommendation is to take a vacation with a hot girl.
I've put 150,000 miles on a TJ and only replaced universals. That's it there amazing vehicles for sure

Truth is owning a wrangler is a luxury. They are expensive impractical and high maintenance. They are more of a symbolic toy vehicle. They are fun and cool for sure but that's about it. If someone disagrees you love your wrangler toooo much
Exactly they aren't even good for off roading since jeep Fiat decided to put all the important parts where they can be broken

When you say they've "modded" it for all off-road and have no lift and stock tires and suspension city slickers
