I’m looking to buy the 2010 Manual which has been fully kitted out and in very good condition. It runs the 3.8 which I got to test drive today. Personally I did not feel it to be sluggish like some comments on various forums are saying and also there is negative comments about oil usage and other stuff, which it making me wonder if it’s worth getting now. Considering the price I can get it for is low, it should be a good deal. Only done 68k miles. Primary use is for off roading and camping, so will have a box trailer up to about 1100kg I’ll be towing which should not be a problem I HOPE Be good to get your opinion, cheers
As a non jeep guy, I think the 4 door jk is the smartest thing jeep ever did. Just like Ford and the Thunderbird. Everyone loved the 2 seater, but nobody bought them. As soon as they made it bigger, they sold a billion of them.
Yeah and that's why the 2 doors are the ones everyone wants now. In 30 years the JK will be as common as the xj Cherokee. Only not nearly as cool or as Jeep.
When you push your seat forward to get in the back, give it an upward tug. It is designed to move forward and up for even more space to get in the back
It doesn’t really work on the driver’s side from what I’ve seen when using them. Does on the passenger side where there is more clearance for the seat to actually move forward.
I love my 09 JKU! 149k miles, the only thing that’s been replaced is the EGR valve. Doesn’t leak a drop of oil and it gets me everywhere I need to go. Someday I’ll upgrade to a JL but for right now it’s paid for and I’ve got the mods I want and I love it!
I bought my 2014 JKU new when I was 19. So far total repairs have been less than 200 dollars. I still have it, 10 years later, and have zero intentions of selling it anytime soon. It’s reliable, easy to work on, is fun, and can tow enough for almost all of my needs.
Your constant whining is what purist don't like about JK owners. The Jeep is a Jeep. It has its flaws and straights. JK owners tend not to waive, complain about everything little thing that makes a Jeep a Jeep, and asked Jeep to make it more like every other car out there. Soccer moms who drive Jeeps are awesome, mall crawlers are Awesome, trail riders are awesome, as long as you love your Jeep.
I just bought a 2017 JKU to replace my 1999 TJ (four banger) and I gotta say i feel like a sell out, the ride is so plush. You cant compare the two jeeps. The TJ has street cred and soul. The JK feels like a NPC mall crawler for the masses. Having said that, Im selling the TJ since the JK is easyer to live with everyday, driving/room for kids/cargo ETC.
Hey Tommy, you can move the seats more than what you showed. It's called Tip n' Slide or something like that. Works on both seats (at least on my 2018 2 door JK Sport S), you basically move the back forward like you did, but then if you keep pushing the top of the seat forward towards the dash the seat will tilt from the base. This makes the access to the back much more easy.

The YJ is the worst Wrangler. We used to call them "Wronglers". When I finally sold my 83 CJ7 in the mid 90's I left Jeep behind. When I was looking to get back into a Jeep. The TJ just didn't do it. Then came the first gen JK. That too didn't do it. The second gen JK got me back to Jeep. I got a 2012 Sport, and eventually traded it in on a 2016 Rubicon. I'm pretty happy with it. Think this will be my last new Jeep, though. Once I'm finished building out my Rubi I want to save up and get an old late 40's/early 50's Jeepster for cruising with my girl on summer weekends.
Also, My 16 has window controls on the door. It's called a crank. Had to special order it to get a Rubi with a stick and crank windows. Totally worth the wait.
I just bought my 2018 2 door jk yesterday I have the same color as in the video. Mine is bone stock. Roll. Up windows n no factory alarm nothing. I have a early 18
Tommy - your 2 door JK is a beauty! The mods you have done to it are just right. Nothing over the top. When Jeep first introduced the 4 door, I thought it was an abomination. Jeeps are two doors only!! Yet, overtime I have come to really like the 4 doors. Great video as usual.
The 3.6L Chrysler engine is a very good and reliable engine. Probably the best feature about the Wrangler. The downside is all the electric problems that pretty much all Jeeps have.
Back in the late 70’s I had a CJ7 with a 258 slant 6, manual, high arch springs, Monroe Magnum shocks and “Ground Hog” tires. Had a lot of fun and misadventures in the machine. There may have been some chemical influences involved in those adventures. 🤪
The 258 was an AMC motor: a traditional American inline six with 7 main bearings & NOT a slant\6 as that used four large 426 HEMI main bearings...that's the Mopar "Leaning Tower of Power" for you! Those 2 ChryCo. motors were designed by the same guy (Willem Weertman). The 258 was eventually replaced by the famous AMC Jeep 4.0L inline six in late 1986 and survived till 2006 when the last real Jeeps were made.

Great video. I recently traded a 2001 two door for a 2106 Willys Wheeler two door. I was very skeptical of the newer model. It felt too fragile and fancy to take off road. While its nice enough as a daily driver in terms of comfort, its a rather boring ride. But, when I get it on the trail, wow, it comes to life. I find it way more capable than my older Jeep and its still stock. I know there are those who complain about various features ( for me it's the truly awful stereo interface), lack of storage, the need for expensive mods, etc. Yes those things are true, however that is also the fun of a Jeep. They are for people who want to make them their own and I think Jeep buyers know that going in. For me, I enjoy figuring out how to make it work for me ( and my budget) and I think most Jeepers do. Yeah they can be mall crawlers, but who cares. Its what you chose to do with it.
My dad passed his Yj sahara to me when I was in Highschool, then I got a TJ, and now own a JK. Ive owned sports cars and trucks but the Jeep always felt super right for me.
@@Welcometofacsistube , Jeep/Fiat has no competitors. Who else makes midsize SUV with solid front axle? What other midsize SUV has death wobble, only Jeep/Fiat with front solid Axle.
The JK as a whole is leaps better stock for stock over the TJ or even the LJ. Sure the 4.0l is bulletproof but they’ve had their fair share of issues over the years . The 3.8l was underpowered for the size of the JK but it’s a relatively reliable power plant as well, those things got abused for years in many different applications . The 3.6l is also very reliable engine that has been used is all sorts of vehicles from chargers to Ram trucks . Now as far as driveline differences the JK is all around beefier in every aspect that matters from axles to transfer cases. Any argument that favors the TJ over the JK in terms of offroad ability is purely anecdotal if comparing rigs stock to stock.
The 3.8 was a huge down grade. And the quality was far better on the tj wranglers. Also the tj wrangler holds its value because nobody wants that mini van engine. Jk sold more because it was a 4 door wrangler. The upgrade to 3.6 was way needed. The jk is more of a utility suv than jeep. You got the city folks trying to look cool with a lift and mud tires at the mall. It's a car seat jeep. The tj was the last real jeep. I want a four door for family too. It's just the way it is.

My 3 big dogs just weren't fitting in my 2 door JK comfortably especially when I had other shit and I wasn't going buy used again after my TJs engine went too soon, i thought. Yes it is definitely more comfortable than my TJ and similar to my JK but better. I went from the Sport to the Rubicon so I do have a lot more options. I dont know if its directly because I got older but being older did allow me to learn what I wanted in my recent purchase compared to what I had before. Yes I do also have more money to spend now as well so that helps. That said, that TJ was just a steel box with wheels lol.
Can you compare an XJ to those new Cherokees nowadays? I'm sorry I've turned into and opinionated a****** in the past few years but I feel strongly about the Jeep Legacy and they ruined it sorry if I offend people but as a Jeep lover they offend me
I'd like a JL or JT, but they feel more cramped inside than the JK. Also, I prefer the hydraulic steering of the JK. The 3.6L does well as long as you're not putting on heavy oversized wheels without regearing (C&D tested a 4dr from 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds stock). I'm a fan of all Wranglers, but the JK is an underrated member of the family. It has been a pure joy to own.. Just a solid, honest vehicle that makes you smile. There aren't many other vehicles like that.
Great Video and an awesome reminder as to why I did not go back to a Jeep last year. I love all the storage bins in my full size truck and Obviously Jeep is still not making it easy to stow gear in the modern age without spending lots of money at Quadretec to enhance the functionality of the JK's interior.

You clearly don’t know much about the power plant choices the JK used. There’s a reason the underpowered 4.0l was retired and it wasn’t to replace it with a crappier engine. @@Sig721Tau it was 3 years old and had 89k miles. But now you see the same year with 190k going for 12 grand. It's crazy to me
I love when people do reviews on certain vehicles and down them because their not something else. It's a Jeep. Not a sports car, pickup truck, or a family vehicle with a trunk large enough for all their luggage. It's exactly what it's been for years, a two-door Jeep with no room for hardly anything besides the passengers. lol. And like saying it has a minivan engine. Facts are the engine is the most powerful engine that's ever come in one. lol. I guess I just don't get it.

The 3.8 in a 2 door manual transmission is a good match also long lasting. Have over 220000 miles and going strong.
Primary use is for off roading and camping, so will have a box trailer up to about 1100kg I’ll be towing which should not be a problem I HOPE
Be good to get your opinion, cheers
@@Unkownktm if its a 2 Door ..motor will be O.K....
As a non jeep guy, I think the 4 door jk is the smartest thing jeep ever did. Just like Ford and the Thunderbird. Everyone loved the 2 seater, but nobody bought them. As soon as they made it bigger, they sold a billion of them.

Don't be an ass! Not everyone wants a 2 door Jeep.
Yeah and that's why the 2 doors are the ones everyone wants now. In 30 years the JK will be as common as the xj Cherokee. Only not nearly as cool or as Jeep.
And those are the ones for sale! After a few weeks they decided it wasn't what they thought it was, so they sold the kids and bought a 2 door. 🤗
@@patpollifrone1651
Yeah, that's why the 4dr outsells the 2dr in 3-to-1 sales numbers.
When you push your seat forward to get in the back, give it an upward tug. It is designed to move forward and up for even more space to get in the back
found that entertaining.... could see it wanting to pop up and move forward but he just didn't know haha
It doesn’t really work on the driver’s side from what I’ve seen when using them. Does on the passenger side where there is more clearance for the seat to actually move forward.
I have a 2 door jk manual and my console squeaks like your mama’s mattress and the gas mileage makes me think I’m towing a semi behind me
If Jeep hasn’t evolved into what we have today it would have gone the way AMC, Hudson and International.

Worst back seat entry? Try getting into a 90's Mustang at 6'3" lmao JK 2d is spacious in comparison.
BMW fanboys say the same things about the new BMWs. I love the newer BMWs and I love the new Jeeps. Things change, brands evolve.
I remember Jeep describing the JK's doors' purpose as protection from weather elements, not crash protection.
He skipped right over the reliability aspect of it, and that's the elephant in the room. The build quality and reliability is horrible with jeeps.
Jeep, make a two door Gladiator with the 5.7L V8?!?!?!
5.9 gas too
I wonder what the tow rating would increase to with the hemi?

Nice review Tommy. Glad I waited for the JLU, though. Less quirks (except auto start/stop). We shall see how it holds up over time.
I hated my 2008 JK. I'm much happier with my '05 TJ.
I love my 2016 JK. 4” lift w 35’s. It’s solid.👊

I owned TJ's and CJ's for 20 years. But when the JK came out, I could never get over the fact you could push the metal in with your pinky finger.

The JK is a real Jeep. Whoever says it's not is just a hipster. I like the JK more than the JL other than how it looks.
Fireblade1000cc absolutely, the JK will go down as a classic in due time, they’re just outstanding offroad , a great platform and better than its predecessors . Anyone who says different just isn’t being honest and haven’t spent enough time in the offroad scene. The JL will be better than the JK but the difference won’t be as big as going from the TJ to JK was.
@@jrexplores5488 the JL may be better in some ways but it's got too much technology in my opinion. And things like the FAD and STT that no one seems to like.
Fireblade1000cc yeah they will be great I’m sure and the diesel option when it’s available will make them sell like hot cakes, I’ll be excited to see how the diesels do but I’ll keep my jk for quite awhile until the JL diesels come down on price, probably another decade lol
@@jrexplores5488 yeah I think the diesel is going to pull a ton of people towards buying a JL. That's probably the only reason I'd consider buying one. It's too bad the JK never had a diesel.

My 16 JKU Hard Rock is an incredible offroad vehicle stock! my 2006 TJ was fun but liveability wise there is no comparison.
Oh, no. My stuff bounces around in the cargo netting. *Smh*. Tommy, stick to owning and reviewing four door sedans like hatchbacks and Priuses. Cmon Tommy, everyone knows that's called the "Chicken handle".

The reason I bought my 2008 JK was because it was only 17,995 brand new. And it had a lifetime powertrain warranty.
Could you please do some more videos with the land cruiser?

I traded my TJ for a JK in 2012 and now traded my JK for a JL 2019 now.

@Mazen Ahmed was it the more horse power and torque with lighter weight that was dumb? The better resale? Or was it the solid axels?
I'd like a JL or JT, but they feel more cramped inside than the JK. Also, I prefer the hydraulic steering of the JK. The 3.6L does well as long as you're not putting on heavy oversized wheels without regearing (C&D tested a 4dr from 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds stock). I'm a fan of all Wranglers, but the JK is an underrated member of the family. It has been a pure joy to own.. Just a solid, honest vehicle that makes you smile. There aren't many other vehicles like that.
