I’m a mopar mechanic at performance jeep land and you can access the smaller start stop battery a lot easier by pulling the front right fender liner out towards you, then allowing you to lay on your back behind the front tire and remove it from the bottom with 3 10mm bolts and 2 10mm nuts for the terminals I personally hate doing them 😂 but that’s an easier way
@@stuntmandev2327 No JKs only have 1 battery. What he is calling a Dual battery group in the video. isn't a "Group" you can opt into or out of. It is your AUX/Start Stop battery. There are plenty of videos around You-tube that explain how big of a pain these are but also how to just bypass them. If this battery goes out it will display symptoms of your primary being dead, except with all you electronics working. You can bypass this battery with one wire and never have to worry about it again. Unless of course you are welding on the jeep.

Solution for the rear glass: coat the glass with rain repellent so that the water just runs off before you open it. no need for the rear windshield wiper either that way.
I've had the best luck with waxing my windows rather than rain x. Completely streak free perfect windows every time, and it seems to put a heavier layer of coating on there than rain repellant.
A Hood deflector works wonders. Bit Red Neck look but they do work. Sometimes they keep the bugs of the lover part of the windshield only. But it saved my trip by looking under. Late at night and nowhere to stop@@chaichilee
The 11 speaker alpine sound system is amazing, also when you take the top off, it sends a signal to make the radio louder. The cutting out is a issue they should fix. As far as the carpet getting wet, real off roaders takes the carpets out, so getting wet isn't an issue. A jeep is made to wheel and get dirty, not be a luxury vehicle.
I have a jeep JK. The part you said about dual battery. Has got me stopped in my tracks. I want a new one. But I do not want a lithium battery in my garage. Those batteries are not safe. They explode and catch on fire. UA-cam has tons of videos on that subject. And you cannot buy a jeep without one now. Which pisses me off. I just wish there was an option not to be able to get dual battery!! My JK works perfectly good without two batteries. I don’t need the added extra expense of that battery and especially what you said extremely hard to replace!! So thank you for making that video!! I believe it may be cheaper for me just to rebuild my JK. Especially when so many parts are available for JK‘s
Just a heads up, for the auxiliary battery, there’s a lead cable that goes from the auxiliary to the main battery. You just have to remove that cable. On the positive terminal there will be 3 terminals. The thicker one should be the auxiliary battery. And then tada, all power removed, and you’re free to weld away
Another cool thing about jeeps is when you do come to sell it, it being modified is actually a good thing in most cases. People looking for a Jeep wanna do jeep things, so it needs to be a full on jeep. So unlike most cars, modifying it doesn't mean your just eating 90% of the cost you put into it.
Just adding on to this tread, but you can also install a kill switch for the battery right next to the fuse box so you wouldnt need to disconnect ut the hard way every time, me as an audio person im always disconnecting my battery for different wiring setups and other shits
@@TheNuclearBolton the same happens when you disconnect the batteries tho doesn't it? im pretty sure most headunits and so on have capacitors or something that makes them remember even though the car is completely dead
Only if you sell it private party. Modded jeeps as a trade in gets pennies to the dollar on what people spend on accessories. If you accessorize your Jeep and it’s time to sell it or trade it in, strip it and put it back to stock.
You don’t buy a Jeep for luxury… you buy it to build it up and do amazing things on amazing trails. After having a Toyota, Ford, and a RAM, with their limitations on what “I want to do” my Jeep has been a God send.
A pro tacoma needs at least a 2.5 inch lift and a mount chop just to run 285s inch tires. Not to mention the regear for the poor gear ratio that comes stock. A 2021 stock rubicon comes with 285s and a gear ratio that can run 37s.
I have a 21 gladiator with 13k on it. It’s been flawless and the new interior is really nice coming from multiple JKs. All my JKs were flawless for the most part. My upgraded stereo is awesome too btw. 🤷🏻♂️. Nothing better than a Jeep, sorry and the trade in values, holy crap.
Agree - I have a Sahara with the upgraded stereo with sub and it sounds great. Only issue is the sub is too boomy, so I had to adjust it down in the equalizer for better fidelity.
I bought the 2020 Rubicon Recon Edition with the Alpine factory stereo system. It really sounds good with the top on or off. The only complaint I have is the fender wells in the front are flimsy and my tires destroyed them on a windy day.
You are 100% correct. The Jeep Wrangler is for someone who wants a Jeep Wrangler and it capabilities. It is definitely not a luxury vehicle by any means even though it comes with a luxury sticker price and usually several finishing flaws off the Chrysler Fiat assembly line. People who do not specifically want a Jeep Wrangler for what it is and what it is capable of are the ones who usually complain. My advice is make sure you do your research and make sure you know exactly what a Jeep Wrangler is and that you want it for what it is and what it can do, definitely not for comfort.
I leased a 19 JL Sahara that had literally no options but cold weather group. Pandemic came around and I was able to sell it back for hardly any depreciation hit. Waited a few months and picked up a 21 Rubicon fully loaded. Not all packages are a must have but the Alpine upgrade is night and day sound quality
my only regret when purchasing my 18 JLUR was not getting the upgraded Alpine system. But back in late 2018 I only had the option of 1 of 3 JLUR's in the entire state of NC. Can't imagine how hard it would be to try and purchase that same vehicle today with the lack of inventory and insane dealer markups. I could probably sell my JL for almost what I paid for it with a few upgrades and low miles
My JK has the same issue with the rear glass to the point that I was getting mold forming under the rear carpets. When I went all in off road with it I ripped out all of the interior carpets and Xlined the interior floors 👌🏻👌🏻 best investment I promise
Great video. As far as the Aux battery, you don't have to disconnect the actual Aux battery if you want to kill power to the Jeep. There are certain cables on the battery and firewall that you can disconnect to kill the Aux battery. If you ever have to replace the Aux battery don't do it through the top of the Jeep. You will run risk of screwing up your fuse box that route. It is actually designed to be replaced from under the Jeep. You have to remove a few bolts holding the passenger fender on (I think around 4), and then pull the fender off (some clips might break which sucks but they are like $.25 to replace). Once the fender is removed (don't forget to disconnet the turn signal connection) you will see the box that holds the battery. Removing the 3 (10mm I think) bolts that hold the box will drop the box and the battery exposing the terminals.
I have a basic manual trans JK Jeep without any single luxury option, not even power locks or windows... I love it! It is so crude and honest of a drive, its indestructible, I can go anywhere, it can get super dirty and even look cool being all dirty. Mine has zero build quality issues, everything is hard resistent plastics inside... totally the opposite to my Mini Cooper, which I love for being the total opposite to the Jeep...
I've got a 2011. I bought it with 112k miles on it in late 2019. I'm currently at 241,000 miles in TWO years of driving it. I also have a supercharged 3.8 pushing around 370hp. My Jeep has never had an issue. I'm changing my clutch in a few days from the stock clutch to a 400hp clutch because it does slip when launching (as if I'm racing). If you just take off normally, the clutch is fine. Just mean the engine has too much hp for the clutch, so that has to go. Other than that, this Jeep has had NO issues over the last 128,000 miles in the last two years of driving. Has always started. Always made it home. Always made it thru off-roading. By far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned in my life. This thing doesn't break down, even driving 250-300 miles per day.
I love my JK!! I am on my 3rd Wrangler and it gets mr thru New England winters. Jeep is all I will drive.. This guy on the video is more like the Subaru type lol..
@@tjj5337 LMAOOOOOOOO!! The Subaru type! FACTS! Man, he doesn't understand the fickle stuff he's complaining about is NOTHING by the time you leave a trail. LOL! He's worried about a girlfriend opening a door and seeing an 1/8th of an inch crease in the handle component, whereas TRUE Jeep girlfriends worry if you can make it out of the ravine without knocking a fender off. LOL! That's all they really care about: can we get home in front wheel drive til we get a new rear driveshaft? LOL!
@@tjj5337 And the 80miles is CAKE for a Jeep! That's just warming it up a bit. I see Jeeps with 100k miles and I'm like, "...oh, you're just breaking it in." LOL!
The battery is super easy to disconnect. Disconnect the other cable on the negative terminal and that will disconnect the negative from the aux battery.
Man, I feel ya. It's got it's flaws but, I just love my jeep. All the quirks, the less than stellar ride quality, etc.. It lends to a unique Jeep personality. Kinda like that significant other that makes you crazy but, the good outweighs the bad so you keep them around. Good looking JL though. Enjoy!
Don't listen to the haters who waste their typing up a million different reasons why you shouldn't have but your car. it's your choice, your money, your car not there's. Loving all the jeep content so far👍 stay committed
I won't rail on this video upload or commenters. Idiosyncrasies like he mentions are what makes a Jeep [Wrangler] a Jeep. Sloppy handling, it's a Jeep, loud and wind intrusion, yeah, it's a Jeep, poor gas mileage...it's a JEEP! Wrangler, I mean. Just Enough Essential Parts. I am on my tenth one (1st JLUR). Don't like the handling, go get a Redneck ram assist or PSC. Get the upgraded Alpine or other radio systems. There are Boom mats and others to help squelch the noise. As for the battery issue Genesis Offroad makes a beautiful dual battery tray, I just brought my second and will be installing shortly (thanks Northridge 4x4). For me the joy of a Jeep (Wrangler) is in the build. Think of like your body, not the most aestheticly pleasing, you workout and eat better. Make it what you want and know, it will within it's limits take you anywhere. And that's why Jeep (Wrangler) owners love their Jeeps. 4x1=4; 4x2=8; 4x3=12; and 4x4=Jeep. There's only one.
:::one more thing::: if you have a push button start, get a killswitch installed. My buddies push star jeep was stolen with a hacked fob and they just drove off. The key start jeeps are a little harder to steal because they have a chipped key so they would have to get into the steering column. But a kill switch on either is really nice. Got one installed on mine (won’t say where it is) and I’m comfortable leaving my jeep parked with no doors. Also have gps tracking in case someone gets ballzy and tries to tow it out.
I bought a 2006 wrangler Rubicon, lifted it, tires and all the bells and whistles, when my son was born I traded that one for a 2012 Rubicon unlimited, loved it, then the wife said she wanted a Lexus, so I traded it for the lexus, and I regret that decision every day, living in WV with the hills and trails, I miss my jeep each and every day, as soon as the RX350 is paid off, I already told her I am getting another Jeep, for me and well my son wants one too, so it can be for him when the time comes, thats my justification to stay a kid with an overpriced vehicle,,, Too expensive yes for what you get but damnit I want my jeep back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont get a 2012. You did yourself a favor by dumping that one. Stay out of the 3.8 v6, get a 3.6, diesel, or hope they have a v8 when youre ready to buy again. The 3.8s are heaps.
@@rugbydoc1999 I thought the 3.6 started In 2013, but also thought the early 3.6 had oil consumption issues not resolved until later models, but corrected by bulletins that may have been released a little too late. Correct me if my history is wrong.
Just picked up my 4th Jeep, 2020 JLUR and after driving my 2011 JKUR for 7 years, this is a game changer! Things a beast with a hint of luxury and with the premium sound system, you can truly enjoy all of your music on those outdoor adventures. These new Jeeps are NOT cheap but after doing a TON of research regarding the quality compared to my 2011, I can see now why they are higher in price and not to mention sky high inflation, lack of chips, pandemic, etc. I enjoy your channel... keep pumping out the content! #JeepLifeBestLife but yup... Just Empty Every Pocket.
Look up battery disconnect switches lots of different options. It rain getting to the battery just once install the switch and wouldn't have to access again until you needed a new battery one time install the switch so in the future you would have easier access to a easy disconnect.
You r amazing, I've searched a few reviews about Jeep, because I want to buy one but after seeing your video I've changed my mind. Thank's for opening my Eyes.
Wow , I'm glad i kept my JK Rubicon. I've grown up with Jeeps in my family since the 70s and it's been a great dependable transport and it went everywhere we pointed it .Since it's a jeep i don't expect it's fit and finish to be on par with my BMW X5 but your right about missing a screw holding in a piece of your handle especially for the price you paid , maybe you should check your wheel lugs? But for me ,i beat the hell out of my jeep and if something breaks ,it just gives me an excuse to upgrade.
I'm not sure there is a more honest unpartial review on UA-cam or anywhere in the world on any topic. Well done! I'm not sure if this made me want a Jeep more or less.... but well done! :)
I love this review! When he starts out by saying, “We’ll, it is a Chrysler.” I’m about to buy a used one. I’ve watched a ton of reviews. The car is unique and a timeless classic and I can take it down forest service roads all opened up and pretend I’m on high adventure. With that said, I just hope it holds together. I’m not a fan of Chrysler at all, but maybe I can enjoy it for the thrill it delivers.
I own a JLUR. It now has 25k miles. Other than the sloppy steering that they fixed, I really have no complaints. Sure there is wind noise - its a square box doing 65+ mph. Sure I have tire noise - mud tires. Sure it rides rough - lifted with big heavy tires and hd shocks. Sure it gets 13 mpg - 37” tires.... I’m not complaining cause I knew going in what I was getting and what I was gonna do to it and where it will take me. I see very few Chevy Blazers or Ford Explorers on trails like Hells Revenge or Poison Spider in Moab or on Engineers Pass or Corkscrew Gulch in Ouray....
I've had many Wranglers and I've also had many Toyotas...Toyota holds their value extremely well, has extremely good quality and is the most reliable vehicle on the market. The 4Runner TRD Pro is light years ahead of the Wrangler in these areas. The only downside to Toyota in my opinion is that the top does not come off. JEEP..."Just Empty Every Pocket" is a very true statement. All of my jeeps with the exception of my 1995 YJ, broke down constantly. Other than the removable top, Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro beats Jeep in every area. However, I do appreciate the Jeep community and I really like all of the Jeep events that are available. *** I wish I could have the looks of a Wrangler and the dependability of a 4runner..
The reason your audio sounded like crap is you didn’t unplug the rear defroster connector to fool the system into thinking the top is off. Unplugging that will get you much more powerful audio.
I drove my 2015 JKU Sport for 7 years, not ONE build issue with it (that base sound system was worse than a 1983 Ford Escort)! Just traded the JKU for a 2021 JLU Willys, and man what a difference! I have the same screen/sound system in your video, trust me, it is light years better than the JKU I had before replacing every speaker and head unit, so far I have had no issues with the sound or connectivity. The rear window...it's a Jeep thing, RainX takes care of that, snow and water run down off the window. That rear door thing, yeah they definitely messed that up at the factory.
Worst issue: paint bubbling on the hinges…and hood…and bottom of drivers door. Fixed once by a Jeep dealer, with Jeep approved body shop… Added overspray to the inside of the passenger front door, and all the bubbling returned a year later. In the shop again (different shop)… It’s likely it will return again… Other than that…I love it.
In my 2008 jeep I had a problem with the roof leaking whenever it rained. Right where the driver and passenger removable tops come together and it would drip down onto the center console and shifter area. Super annoying but my fix was putting a napkin up there and changing it out every so often lol
had to comment on this one. back in 1996 I ordered a brand new 1997 Jeep Wrangler sport inline 6 manual. I drove it 80 miles. 60 of that was trip home from dealership. Kid you not the gear shift came out in my hand while I was driving. the mechanic that went back in and fixed it said someone simply did not do their job at the factory they never attach the gear shift in the transmission. it's still sitting in my driveway I drive it back and forth to work daily.
Worth every penny. My gladiator is loaded for 46k dude. Don’t know what option you got. And I once bought a 2 door for 29k (2013) put 60k on it over 4 years and traded for 23k or 8k more than I owed on it at the time.Jeep is the way. Subarus suck btw. Cvts are junk and my girlfriends Impreza blew had gaskets at 40k👎🏻
I was sound system operator for years. I love upgrading sound systems, but all you need to do is learn how to tune the stereo audio system; there are menu features to do this and mine plays clean and perfect, unless forbid YOU just unluckily got a faulty stereo system in your vehicle. You're just unlucky and got a vehicle that was made faulty with the broken door pull handle, stereo etc. Go to your dealership and let them fix the mistakes. Overall the Jeep Wrangler JL is not as bad as you're misleading people to believe and I don't have these problems with mine. As a mechanic I built mine to the specifications I require and it's great and I love it!
I bought a 2011 jeep grand Cherokee limited and in 30,000 miles this thing is about to bankrupt me. Every time I turn around I'm having to spend hundreds of dollars to keep it on the road. I love it, but I'm definitely regretting buying it. The repairs seem to be non stop, as soon as I fix one thing something else breaks.
Aux battery can be disconnected on the right side of the fuse box. You don’t have to pull the battery or even access it if all you want to do is disconnect it from the vehicle for welding. Pull the top off the fuse box. On the right side you’ll see multiple studs with wires held on by nuts. Disconnect the aux power wires from there. I believe there are two but don’t quote me. I think the main one is connected to the N2 stud. I have it wrote down and in my glove box. I’m 400 miles from my Jeep or I’d look lol. Just search on the net. Plenty of info out there. This isn’t a Jeep issue. This is common with almost all newer vehicles with the auto start/stop feature.
I too was thinking of getting one 4 years ago and started to do a lot of research. There were more cons than pros and that was a red flag for me. That and the fact that Chrysler is behind this. I rented a Chrysler car and also drove my driver’s instructor’s Chrysler; the fit and finish.... garbage.
After one year, I still love my 2021 sarge green Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport, with 18" black stars on the front doors. It got me out of the deep snow & mud, I was also able to rescue some stuck vehicles, even a 4x4 truck.
Great honest video. And I appreciate the laughs. As a JLU Sport owner myself, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Also, I didn’t much care because I just love Jeeps and wanted a JL. Had mine for 3 years now and I still love it.
Just looking through the videos on this guy's channel is can comfortably say he will never be able to adjust to a jeep life. It is a hard leap for some.
I have a Sahara JKU full package. First thing I had changed was the radio, plus amp and all the wiring and the speakers. The Sahara with full package comes with Alpine amplifier and speaker+subwoofer. The only decent thing was the subw, but I had to twinkle it a bit. The rest was pure garbage. But.... a Wrangler has something special that slowly gets into you, if you like offroading, overlanding or just having fun in the sand/dirt. It is like a Lego of a car: you can pull it apart, change what you want, put it back together.... Give it time, go out with a bunch of jeepers/toyoters/whatever, and you will start feeling it coming! I would recommend you to get in touch or follow Jason from Autoedits and Brad from Trailrecon. A lot of knowledge there! Keep your amazing content coming!!!
Robbery? No. It's called the market. And this how how all goods and services work. They sell Jeeps at this cost because they can. That's how all market prices get established. It is simply overpriced to YOU. Nothing that sells is overpriced or underpriced. If it was, those selling it would have to raise or lower the price. They have to lower it if no one was buying it because the price was too high. Or they'd have to raise the price because they can't keep up with demand.
Bought my Jeep Rubicon brand new in the Bronx (NYC) - $44k. In the shop 8 times within first 2 weeks! Down-hill after that. By the time it was 3 yrs old, it'd been in the shop probably a good 85 times! Wheel defects, water leakage, gas tank failure at 3 yrs old. After replacing entire fuel tank, got it back and 3 wks later transmission went out! (defect) At 3 yrs old!! Airbag failure, oil pan defects. Window defoggers defects, air actuators constantly go out, head gasket/warped heads... repeated P06 cylinder codes and misfires that weren't resolved when replacing coil pack, spark plugs, sp wires (twice), catalytic converter replacement, oxygen sensors. AND, let's not forget that "Death Wobble"! There's nothing better than coming around a mountain at night on a highway doing 55, with rain, and all of the sudden your sh*t $44,000 pile of sh*t Jeep goes into a Death Wobble. If I thought I could get away with murder, the 2 former CEOs of Jeep would have been dead within the first year I bought the pile of crap. After replacing transmission fluid lines and the head gasket, now I smell gas when I drive. A douchebag tech told me it's "normal" to smell gas when you start your Jeep. That's just stupid! I've NEVER smelled gas in any car I've had, not even this pile of sh*t.
I've had my 2018 JLUR since a month after they first came out and have had no issues. It's one of the best vehicles I've owned and that includes Audi, MB, Ford, Toyo. The price point is the only thing I could agree on being a disappointment but like you said, it holds the value like very few vehicles in the market.
@@erickdiaz6152 25K miles. Once I updated the steering stabilizer it's been a great vehicle. It's not perfect on the roads but I wouldn't trade it for anything else on the market (including the Bronco which I do like a lot.)
@@drewengles4477 start using your lockers as much as you can to fish out any bad 2018 sensors before you hit the 5 year warranty mark. My 2018 JLUR has close to 60K miles and I have had this locker sensor issue happen twice. It's a $5 part but becasue of sensor location and limited supply of parts, the dealership ended up replacing my entire axle both times. Didn't cost me a dime but if it happens after the warranty it could become a costly repair.
I don't understand the Jeep pricing. Up here in Canada you can get a Sahara for $58,000 Can$ which would be about $45,000 US, but our delivery charges are also higher. You can definitely see the affects of all the shortages though. Some units have heated seats but no heated steering wheel, it may or may not have blind spot detectors, and sometimes there is no engine cover on brand new units (not that that does anything, but it looks nice).
You bought one of the new Italian Fiat versions. I had to revise to add... I had/have at least a dozen various kings of Jeeps, CJ5, CJ7s, CJ8, 4 Wranglers, Cherokee, and 2 Grand Cherokees . I've never had any problems. Currently, I have a Made-in-USA version 2014 Rubicon Unlimited 4dr. The best BEAST Jeep. The air-lockers means it will never get stuck. I picked it up for $34,400 brand spanking new. It is fantastic. The doors seal perfectly. Matter of fact, the last one to shut his or her door has to do it with gusto because it is so air tight. My stereo is beautiful. I had it unlocked and added a rear camera for $250. Now I can program GPS and even watch DVDs while driving. I added a rear tire swing away carrier, a HD front bumper with a Smittybuilt winch. Alas, things changed. The Jeeps maybe went downhill when the moved the iconic front parking lights to the fenders, and started redesigning them at Fiat headquarters. You know it's bad when they name garbage currency as Fiat, the builder of your Jeep. Oh, the "Gladiator" is a joke! The original Gladiator was built on the Jeep truck chassis. The longer vehicle built on the wrangler of CJ chassis is the SCRAMBLER. Fiat can't even get that right! Hahaha.. 🤣😂
Just sold both my jeeps! And yeah they sell for an insane amount I sold my 2011 for 28k. But it did have alot done to it. And my 2016 I sold for 33k and I actually made money on them after driving them for the time I had them 😂 and they both sold in the first couple days and I had hundreds of people wanting them. It was wild
FYI - You can disconnect the secondary/smaller battery's negative terminal without digging through all the garbage to get to the battery terminals themselves. Give that a google, might save you some hassle next time you are doing some basic electrical work.
Looking at the new Jeeps, it’s hard to justify the price looking at everything else. I bought an old 97 tj and I’m building it how I want it to be. It’s currently having a ford 302 v8 being swapped into it
I didn't have those issues with my jeep but I had some minor annoyances I tracked down and fixed. The thing is I owned Subaru Ford VW Hyundai Dodge ram and they ALL had minor issues a grimlins. That's just the game nothing is perfect.
Weird you're knocking the initial quality of Stellantis, but they have 3 of the top 9 spots for 2021 JD Powers initial quality ratings, including the number 1 and number 2 spots ... Jeep is included in that top 9 ... while Chevrolet is not in the top 9, and Subaru is ranked all the way down at the number 25 spot
I had a jeep for 13 years, I purchased a brand new 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi (still have it) and now a 2023 Tacoma. I want to touch on the price that you mentioned. I was driving a my parents Corolla because they can’t get in my trucks and I saw this guy driving a really nice white Jeep lifted from the factory but it was an E version. So at the light I told the guy you have a really nice Jeep, he sarcastically replied it’s for sale $74,000, like trying to tell me you can’t afford one. He made a right on red and at the same time I called out “you got robbed.”
I have the Apline sound in my JLUR. The two best mods I have done are the Hothead head liners with sound assassin mats and the terra accoustics front stage speakers. I am sure a full switch out of the stereo is better. The headliners + mats will help regardless of the stereo as it cancels road noise and echos from the hardtop.
Ford Bronco was the best t hing that happend to Jeep. Jeep finally woke up and started modernizing the Wrangler. Couple things I wish they'd do different: 1) 35" wheels from the factory, 2) Air compressor in almost all models 3) Scree in the rear headrest, 4) Front and Rear parking sensors on almost all models, 5) Heated and Cooled seats, front and rear, 6) Cloth covered ceiling, or at least paint it black, 7) Better Insulation and sount proff, 8) Make the rear door a little longer, thus the whole wrangler a bit longer, by like 6" so that it's possible for a full size person to get in and out, 9) Make all doors like Ford Bronco, so they become half doors if you roll the window down. No reason people should buy half doors just to have half doors, 10) A 2" lift on all models, with better suspension. Additionally I would say please please please improve quality of interior and exterior. Quality suffers like crazy. This vehicle can be one of the most desirable if they just improve quality. Or lover the price by at least 25%
For the rear window why not use a lanyard to act as a limit strap for winter times. Fiat in Europe isn’t known for being ultimate quality, but then again I thought they were on par with Chevy and Ford, but I’ve wanted one like yours since seeing Brads but they hold even more value in the UK and same money gets you used a 2nd hand Porsche Cayenne
One thing that challenges European carmakers is that North American vehicles are driven a lot more than European. On average a car in the EU goes 11k km/year, 15k km/year in Canada, and 22k km/year (13.5k mi) in the US. So when European makes do things like "lifetime" timing belts and transmission fluid, they fail halfway through a car's life in the US. The other thing is that there's no hefty displacement/carbon/size tax in North America, nor 20% VAT (in some states, vehicles aren't even subject to a sales tax). This is especially relevant to Chrysler which loves to stick large engines in everything. So what's considered a fairly cheap car here, like a Wrangler, is taxed to heck in Europe.
@@straightpipediesel not sure who in EU does Lifetime timing belts, most now are often 10yrs or 120k miles, gearbox fluid for the life is commonly used phrase though but commonly still changed in the life of the vehicle. Not just the tax is the cause for us to have smaller engines, the cost of fuel is also currently £1.50 per litre of 95ron petrol, when I had a Supercharged 4.2 V8 doing 12mpg it added up quick Also we don't have the same engines options, wranglers in UK come with a 2.0 turbo 300bhp engine or a similar size diesel
@@cba360 The Wrangler in the US has the same base engine, the 4 cyl 2.0 L turbo gas. The diesel option is larger, the same 3.0 L diesel on the Euro Chrysler 300, etc. and Europe doesn't get the 3.6L V6. The thing is the EPA mileage rating difference from the base to the V-6 is a loss of merely 1 MPG (22 vs 21), but you have European countries with displacement taxes which means you don't get it.
@@straightpipediesel The 2.0L turbo is actually more expensive than the 3.6L V6. They do drop $500 if you go with the 2L, but then they make you take the automatic transmission which increases the price over the V6 with a manual. I have the 2L, but in plugin hybrid form (375 hp and 470 lb ft of torque). It's the second quickest after the V8 equiped Rubicon 392 (470 hp and 470 lb ft of torque) and it gets better mileage for shorter trips (long trips is about 20 mpg). It really would be the best setup for Europe.
I bought a 2013 with the 6 Speed Manuel with 96k for $24000 a little over a year ago- had a 98 grand Cherokee with 234000 when automatic tranny crapped out! I’m very happy with the wrangler- I put about 3000 in deferred maintenance that dealer wouldn’t fix new battery, plugs, pvc valve, rear diffservice, new shocks, steering dampner and replaced the rear speakers and added new stock decals, chrome side mirror covers, chrome metal hood latches, new headlights, led fog lights instead of the stock, serpentine belt. Dealer put new brakes tires, front diff, radiator and tranny flush and new clock spring! The car runs and looks great and goes thru the snow like butter! I think they ride ok for a daily driver some camping and in inclement weather, interiors a little noisey- overall for the price I think it’s a great all around vehicle! I could have bought one new- why- let someone else eat the depreciation- I think she’ll go 230 to 250k- might need a clutch tires and brakes and more tuneup! I figure about $10-13k in total repairs maintenance costs for 10 to 12 years! Maybe you should get used next time! I’m happy with mine!
I have a 2018 wrangler sport, purchased used with 50k on it for 32k. Only issue I’ve run into was the “Start/Stop” function light would randomly pop on. I turned the feature off on the Jeep because I heard it drains your battery crazy. I love my Jeep & I can agree with your statements especially the stereo 😡. That’ll be my next upgrade for sure ✌🏽
I was wondering the same thing, I have a 21' Gladiator Mohave fully loaded and it was $58K, if this is a sport trim and you paid almost $60k, call the police you have been victim of a crime
I will stick with my older vehicles that are paid for and easier to work on.. no way I'm spending 60,000 dollars on a vehicle can't justify in doing so...
I’ve been pleasantly surprised at my Rubicon JT. My first new American vehicle, and I’m 57. 16k trouble-free miles. And I paid $45k for it (manual). How did you spend so much on a Sport???
My gf really, really wanted a Wrangler. I worked in auto industry for 8 years and i kept telling her no. For Thanksgiving i reserved an SUV from Enterprise, they messed up and rented out the SUV but they gave me a 4 door Wrangler at even a cheaper rate than the SUV. Had it for a week and went from Chicago to Kentucky, 6 hour drive and drive around in KY. After the road trips and being in the jeep for a week it finally convinced her to NOT get a Jeep and I'm glad. In my opinion they are cool as a toy vehicle. But absolutely awful everyday vehicle. The heat is HOT which is nice in winter, and since the inside - specially in the rear is so drafty (hard top).
This is interesting, I went on Vacation and ended up with a jeep for a week and fell in love with it. Sold my Equinox and bought a JL for my daily. Love the truck like ride height but small car like parking and was simply so much fun to drive! Won't be as comfy as my car was, but much more fun!
@@russluck4290 i do have to say, driving around town was fun, nice turning radius, i really like the seating position. I don't like how the reliability and quality can be very poor, specially for a vehicle that averages over $50K USD.
@@PrinceofPwnage Yes, that is definitely a concern, the reliability. But, then again, my last truck blew a transmission at 99,000 and my first equinox blew a rod at 80,000 and the transmission went at 195,000, my kids car turbo went out at 125,000 and my dad blew a motor in his Subaru at 45,000 miles! Seems like issues all around these days, sadly!
I love mine!!! I have no trouble with the stereo. I'm very handy with tools so the battery is no issue. Back window thing does not bother me, I use rainx
When using CarPlay I notice exactly what he is describing. But using Bluetooth or usb (non CarPlay) the stereo is decent. Not the best by any means but it’s way better than using CarPlay
I paid 50k for my 2door with Sport S package during covid. I tried to trade it in at 30k km's and all I was getting offered was 35k range. Even with used prices through the roof right now I am not getting anywhere near what I think I should get. So I have decided to keep it, even though I can't stand the gas milage it gets.
Here's one for ya that I didn't think about and I've never seen mentioned by anyone... I bought a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon and love it, but of the odd shape of this vehicle (assuming Wranglers too), they do not get very clean running it through a car wash. There are so many weird angles and nooks and crannies that just do not get cleaned (deep fender grooves, external hinges on doors, gap between cab and bed, etc. Wiping it down after a top-end car wash requires a lot of time. Anyone else?
I have a 2023 Rubicon & the I absolutely love it.. The one thing that bugs tf outta me is the LOUD ASS FAN!!! Like my car isn’t running hot, it’s not even hot outside & my fan cuts on every 6 minutes😫😫
Hummer h3 adventure has 4wd with center, front and rear lockers, GM build quality, fits 35” tires completely stock and you can get one for less than 10k
ill be honest idc for the jeep content, its not my thing. but I do still watch just to support you and you can get your view and like from me at least!
Here you go gentleman!! There is the like.. I totally agree, I love my Jeep gladiator as much as I hate to remember the rip off when I see those quality imperfections… still has the brand new smell, and a whistling sound started at 70mph, fixed with a weather strip (I am sure dealer was going to park it for two days and say that couldn’t replicate, so I did it), few days ago noticed water under the passenger mat, under, not on top, dude is a 65K car!! Wtf&@$. On the other hand is great to ride it, feels powerful, strong and you can go places with it.
Only 2 things that really bother me, the rear defrost breaks off so easily.. and the auto door handles don't work in freezing weather... I have to go to the rear door to unlock my doors...

It’s a Jeep. Obviously it’s your first Wrangler type vehicle and you’re a newbie. All of those thing you mentioned aren’t that serious. My first Jeep was an AMC Jeep CJ7 Renegade . Bought it new when I was 20 years old. It was loud, it’s steering was always needing correction and it ride was serious harsh. Few people bought them back then. But I knew I was buying an off road vehicle meant for the military, post office and boarder patrol. My CJ7 audio system was barebones with two speakers. My hardtop need three dudes to take off. There were no comforts. The seats on my JL are like couches compared to my CJ. So don’t complain. The Wrangler has come a long way from the days of my beloved CJ which when I sold had 157,000 miles on the venerable 4.2 258 CID inline 6.
The reason I bought my JL was because they finally got it right. Plenty of power, 8 speed trans, it can comfortably cruise down the interstate at 80mph (if left stock) and it looks good.
Good video. As a fellow Wrangler owner I feel you! One thing is your radio definitely seems defective, I have sensitive ears (I have done tons of audio engineering and mixdowns) and mine doesn't show that issue.
$60K for a SPORT! Are you in Canada or something?! I bought a new '95 hardtop YJ for $12K. Base MSRP was $8999. TJs were just coming out then, for a base MSRP of $9999. Even today, JLU Sports start in the low-mid $30K range. A Sport S starts at mid-high $30K. $60K could get a pretty loaded Rubicon or Sahara around here. People buy a lot of expensive accessories now too. A YJ or TJ could be a pretty darn good rig with just some lunchbox lockers, 30-31" siped mudders for $100-$130/ea, a winch, recovery gear, and home-fabbed armor and anti-swaybar disconnects. YJ rocker guards were as cheap as some painted angle-iron and mounting screws.
as long as you drive it off-road. I live in Chicago and they are EVERYWHERE. Why??? and no the 3 inches of snow we get doesn't warrant getting one either

Solution for the rear glass: coat the glass with rain repellent so that the water just runs off before you open it. no need for the rear windshield wiper either that way.

I’ve got the Smokey mountain edition. It’ll make ya noise itch.

Only if you sell it private party. Modded jeeps as a trade in gets pennies to the dollar on what people spend on accessories. If you accessorize your Jeep and it’s time to sell it or trade it in, strip it and put it back to stock.
Not if you plan on selling it back to the dealership.

I just don't understand the appeal of self-inflicted dissatisfaction.
I have a basic manual trans JK Jeep without any single luxury option, not even power locks or windows... I love it!

Fixed once by a Jeep dealer, with Jeep approved body shop…
Added overspray to the inside of the passenger front door, and all the bubbling returned a year later. In the shop again (different shop)…
It’s likely it will return again…
Other than that…I love it.
My 2006 Liberty had a long standing relationship with rust. ;-)
Grand Cherokees have always been junk. I've never seen one that hasn't blown a head gasket. Any Jeep with a 4.0 is a keeper.
Thanks for explaining pros and cons I was really into buying one but now I changed my mine
Just bought a 2022 gladiator rubicon and aside from the gas consumption it’s epic! It’s a rolling tank!
I like your energy and the honest review.
I agree about the quality of some of those things and that price tag is str8 up robbery.
Robbery?
2018 JLUR...have you checked your frame welds? 😉
How many miles do you have on it now?
@@darrenroos6408 thanks for the heads up, ill try them out this weekend on some muddy trails :)
Someone who works at a Toyota dealership I can say I’d have to argue that Subaru holds their value like no other lmao
Totally agree! Especially the trucks.
Only STIs hold their value. Considering how unreliable the EJ25 is I don’t understand why they hold their value. Garbage engine.
It was wild
Cool you panties and dry them off buddy.
Fools 😂
What do they say about suckers, one born every minute.
FYI - You can disconnect the secondary/smaller battery's negative terminal without digging through all the garbage to get to the battery terminals themselves. Give that a google, might save you some hassle next time you are doing some basic electrical work.
I just don't watch the jeep videos cause I don't like em. But I'm happy you're happy
what they dont tell you is that its a jeep thing isnt a complement but something understandable between jeep owners that you sacrifice many things
I was driving a my parents Corolla because they can’t get in my trucks and I saw this guy driving a
really nice white Jeep lifted from the factory but it was an E version.
Have the same system in my 09 Aspen, at 800 watts it is a beast and makes heads turn.
Not just the tax is the cause for us to have smaller engines, the cost of fuel is also currently £1.50 per litre of 95ron petrol, when I had a Supercharged 4.2 V8 doing 12mpg it added up quick
Also we don't have the same engines options, wranglers in UK come with a 2.0 turbo 300bhp engine or a similar size diesel

Why are you comparing a Porsche to the Wrangler? Lol
Great video, so truthful. You pay for the versatility, but the quality control leaves something to be desired for the $ we paid!
That’s hella miles for that price
Out of curiosity what options did you get? We have a 21’ JLU that we put the eco diesel in and a few other options we were Out the door at $45k.
I was wondering the same thing, I have a 21' Gladiator Mohave fully loaded and it was $58K, if this is a sport trim and you paid almost $60k, call the police you have been victim of a crime
I'm paid $63k for a Rubicon 4xe. It doesn't make much sense to pay $60k for a sport.
It appears to be Ontario Canada plates.
Just ordered mine! 😎 hopefully I can still afford it once it shows up with gas prices 🤣 I’ll be pushing the damn thing home!
Robbie your videos are upright honest and well done. Have an Sahara Altitude on order. Went in eyes wide open. It'll be fun and nothing's perfect.
I have a 2023 Rubicon & the I absolutely love it.. The one thing that bugs tf outta me is the LOUD ASS FAN!!! Like my car isn’t running hot, it’s not even hot outside & my fan cuts on every 6 minutes😫😫
Remember. Jeep is not Jeep any longer. Jeep died a long time ago. You bought a Fiat.
Hummer h3 adventure has 4wd with center, front and rear lockers, GM build quality, fits 35” tires completely stock and you can get one for less than 10k
ill be honest idc for the jeep content, its not my thing. but I do still watch just to support you and you can get your view and like from me at least!
How does one spend 60K on a Sport edition without getting a Sahara or Rubicon? How does that happen?
Waiting to see the other builds….still
Paid 73k for rubicon extreme recon with almost full options.
Everything is expensive now a days.

Plenty of power, 8 speed trans, it can comfortably cruise down the interstate at 80mph (if left stock) and it looks good.
you can access the second battery from the passenger side wheel / fender liner.
