BATTLETECH Override Part 5 - Force Building Tutorial

- Опубліковано 27 чер 2024
- Part 5 of our six-part BattleTech: Override Tutorial will walk you through force building using our BV-backed "Strike Operations" house rules, which allow you to design forces quickly, pick your favorite units, and get right into the action!
BattleTech: Override is a DFA modification of the MechWarrior: Destiny 'mech combat system. It leverages many rules and components of Alpha Strike (with inspiration from Classic) to fill in the gaps, connect the dots and present a complete table top wargaming experience. It is a middle-ground system that retains the detail of Classic we love combined with the speed-of-play that Alpha Strike provides.

I love building my forces with the DFA Strike Ops system. So quick! 🎉 Battletech:Override is where it's at!
Very Slick System and simple for building a force.... it is nice to grab those mechs you wanna use with out BV crunching!
Yah that 100% was the inspiration behind it - glad you like it and thanks for watching!
The House Master will experiment using these rules and determine how well they work. In the meantime, excellent video, Gentlemen!
Stay tuned for part 6 next week, which may or may not feature the Chancellor’s own.
Wow! I really like your FV builder. It finally allows for force groups to be configured and benefits from it in a setting similar to Classic. Great stuff guys, I cannot wait to try it out!!!
Thanks! Let us know how it works out for you!
O o the rifleman III was a wild choice
I’m genuinely struggling to do the vehicle conversions on the override website
Notification gang!
This seems like a really good system to actually start Battletech, but I have a few questions:
1) Can I really assign weapons of different ranges to the same TIC? This seems like an obvious way to "cheat" longer ranges to shorter ranged weapons
2) I can't find a regular flamer in the DFA card builder as a weapon option (cFlamer yes, but not regular). If this intentional?
3) Will there be a demo on how vechicles, infantry, VTOL etc. work in BTO? They seem to function somewhat differently, at least in the crit sense based on Mechwarrior Destiny, and it'd be helpful to get a similar walkthrough these more advanced aspects as you've done with the other parts of the rules
Thanks for the pretty nifty system!
1) you can, but by the rules in MWD it uses the worst range mods so you can’t cheese it.
2) it should be there - looks like a bug. I will take a look.
3) they do have some differences - we aren’t planning on any more tutorials at this time, but discord is a great resource for Q&A, and I think you can pick up a lot from the batreps too!
Update: Flamers should now appear in the list!
Thank you for the clarification@@DeathfromAboveWargaming!
Are there no Inner Sphere Gauss Rifle to be choosen ? No Inner Sphere ERPPC ? I mean those weapons were available when the Clans came...
They're available for patrons, or using the conversation rules in the core rules reference
How does Override handle say just a lance on lance game? Im looking for a bit more depth than alpha strike but i still want to be faster than classic.
It works brilliantly. Short, fast, fun games. I often play Lance on Lance when I demo BT:Override for new players.
I really love all that you guys are doing in Override. I'm wondering if Comstar will eventually get options for Strike Ops force building? Is this something in the hopper?
Thanks Eric!! It is possible we’ll add level ii’s - but in the meantime you could create 3 IS lances and divide them up into two level ii’s! That is my “hack” haha.
I was wondering about how Comstar Level IIs are handled in Strike Ops list building. You have lances and stars, but not Level IIs, so I was wondering. Thanks.
We didn’t create rules for them because they’re so unconventional. My advice would be to create 3 lances and then divide them up into 2 Level IIs. That will get you close enough.
Alternatively. You can build a lance and tack on two ‘mechs via the adhoc rules and just agree with your opponent that they all count as part of the formation.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Thank you. Great ideas!
You are most welcome!
Hey! This is awesome. But when I try the card builder, most wepaons are not available in the drop down. There are no IS LBX's, streaks, ER Lasers, Pulses. Those exist for clans, but nothing for IS?
The card builder includes everything in MechWarrior: Destiny. If you want weapons and equipment beyond that (eg things we built house rules around, including integration with megamek) can be accessed via patreon.

To echo merkarion7883; are the missing weapons grouped in with the import feature of the card builder?
That’s correct. The rules are available in the rules reference (free) so everyone can get the job done - but if you’d like the automation, you can get access to the extra digital features via patreon.
Non-Com is Non-Commisioned officer, not non-commanding officer. Essentially they are a Sargent, not an officer.
Knowing is half the battle! Thanks!
