There’s just so much in Alpha Strike that it’s a little overwhelming to use it all. That’s my only criticism of the book.
My group has so far played really low level - here’s your total point value and BSP value, go do something with it. We haven’t done formations or special abilities that go alongside them. Feels like the next leap if we can.
We did adopt the optional variable damage rule (the variant of rolling 2d6 per point of damage you could do, nominating one pair to also count-as the crit check)
Yeah, I get that. The good thing is a lot of those more complex rules are optional, and not needed. However, if you are feeling a bit frisky, give them a go. Other than the MAR, we really play the basic "Free" rules.
With the Merc kickstarter about to fulfill (eventually) and a ton of vees and infantry about to hit, I think we'll also start using those as well.
Thanks for watching!
i am in SoCal...looking for BTAS players
Top ways I'd look for players in your area:
1. Check with any of the FLGS that carry Battletech. They might have a contact page, or you can run across some players.
2. Check and see if there are any Battletech Facebook groups for your area.
3. The Battletech Reddit page often has folks posting about the areas they are in, looking for players.
I hope you are able to find more players - I do enjoy me some Alpha Strike!
Thanks for watching.
Check out your local HMGS club. For SoCal it is the HMGS-PSW. We have a convention in September. Contact via website. We play battletech and all manner of games.
thanks!
