I’ve seen a few people that removed all their trim pieces and sent them off to be carbon fiber coated and they looked really mint, OEM.
Any idea what the tq limits are on the gen4 motor?
I wish we knew! Gonna keep it limited at 450 just like last gen for now till more information is out. Not sure if the rods are the same or not. Pistons are new though and they look real nice

Highly recommended to get a full front ppf if not the full car ppf'd. I have the mythos black on my s3 and for a black paint the car didn't have many swirls etc my buddy bought a brand new mustang in black and that thing looked like it had been through one of those bad car washes several times and been driven 10k plus miles but it was off the lot new lol. I looked at a s3 8v with 4k miles right before I bought my s3 8y with 1800 miles and the 8v's black paint looked like it had been through 20k plus miles and swirls everywhere. My s3 8y actually has really good paint imo for black color but it was an extra 750 I think but it's got this really nice sparkle in it when the sunlight hits just right owwwwie :). But yeah you can always polish out some stuffs and get the front wrapped and you should be good for the most part. Headlights getting wrapped was a huge thing for me as well but I'm pretty fortunate my brothers own a wrap company so it's easy for me to say these things cause I just pay for the material and not the labor.

Just picked up a new s3. Have you noticed when ur in manual mode the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shifts are a bit jerky? When ur half throttle shifting at about 4k rpms? Almost feels like ur hitting a small pot hole when the shifts happen
Yup it happens to me too. A proper trans tune should fix that. My TCU tune just increases pressure so clutch’s don’t slip under power. Will be testing 034 stage 2 TCU that actually changes shift points, part throttle, launch control etc come next week. Cable gets here Tuesday should have a initial thoughts vid out end of the week next week
@Bryce Jordan Productions cool thanks for the reply. Also I don't mind it but is it bad for the transmission I plan on keeping the car stock with the warranty but the warranty only lasts so long so I'm concerned haha

Pull the fuse 🤷🏽♂️ long hold is enough for it to allow me to get the car sideways lol
Any powertrain issues at that mileage? Any powertrain warranty issues that you missed out on? I have Stage 1+ Unitronic and cable sitting here but I’m afraid of having a costly warranty claim.

Nope no issues! Just doing maintence early as you should! These transmissions are pretty stout as are the rear ends, I have no worries there! Turbo is beefy too, I don’t think we will have turbo issues it would’ve been very public by now if there was! No worries ask anything and everything you have on your mind!!
I am assuming a stage 2 map will bump the boost while stage 1+ runs more timing over stage 1. Besides having higher EGTs u could in theory run a stage 2 map without the Dp right?

I’m currently looking at S3, S5, SQ5, M340i and M2. I’m so torn on what to do, I am already an indecisive person and I like all the cars for different reasons. I plan on doing some light modifications to begin with, a tune, air intake, intercooler, maybe a downpipe and exhaust, fuel pump, so when my warranty is up I can go stage 3 and upgrade the turbo to something bigger. But for the first few years of the cars life it’s going to be stage 1/stage 2.
RS3, M240i, S5 or X4M. I looked at all of those too and I settled on the S3 because I plan to keep it for 2 or so years then get a SUV. I didn’t like the prices in my country to the S3 ticked a lot of boxes to hold me for now.
I like the RS3 but it just doesn’t make much sense financially, I would get an M2 before I got the RS3, they’re cheaper for some reason and I think you’re getting a lot more car in my opinion especially for the money. The S3 however is kind of in a Goldilocks are where they’re very affordable, the new ones are heavily discounted right now like 4-6k on average and the low mileage used ones are extremely affordable. My “affordable”/“temporary” options are the S3, new or used, the S5 lightly used, SQ5 lightly used, or the m340i lightly used. My more longer term vehicles would be the M2, or a new M340i. The cheap ones I would have paid off in a couple years and ready to be traded in towards whatever my dream car is in 2 years. It’s such a tough decision I like them all in their own way. I’ve considered the g80 M3, but I’ve decided to do that next, there’s going to be a million low mileage options in a couple years and they’re going to be affordable, so I’m not leveraging myself into a 90k car and losing my ass on a depreciating asset. Do you like the S3? For me it’s a cool looking car with potential for some good performance with mods, I can live with it. I don’t need 550hp to live my life.
@@ChrisDavis333 Yh I've been watching Bryce for a couple months now and other channels so I knew what was coming when I placed my order, it's a very fun car, I had a spreadsheet with pretty much all you had above, I wanted the RS3 but couldn't justify the cost for just power that I could tune and get for free later since other than the extra cylinder, minor trim and ~100hp they are effectively the same car. 300hp is more than enough to whip around town, on the highway and be faster than 90% of what you encounter on the road. I don't like bmw interiors they all look the same and they drive rough so as a daily that was out, Benz interior is an acquired taste and they are pretty pricey so Audi took the crown for being sporty, performance oriented and luxury (my gf loves the sunroof). The car also looks good from every angle, I couldn't stop looking at it the day I picked it up (glacier white). I wouldn't keep it for a long time just because I can afford to get something newer in maybe 4 years but it's a good "in between" or even long term car to hold you. I drove my evo x for a decade so I can appreciate what it brings to the table and this car will smoke those cars from the 2010s easily. When it gets going it goes man.
@@ChrisDavis333 Also what really pushed me to cop the S3 was how I knew it could look with just a wrap and a tune. Search "UK's fastest S3" and you will see a charcoal grey wrapped 475bhp one, looks sick.
Im debating on this S3 or an M240i with the B58 engine. I have to test drive both but i believe the S3 will feel nimbler and faster out the corners.
I wish I could help your decision there I haven’t drove a 240 yet. They seem like they would be quicker though tbh.
I fixed my piano black center console issue with $10 in vinyl wrap. The center console piece snaps out in like 5 minutes and you can wrap the piano black on a table in like 20 minutes. No way I was babying that piano black around the shifter for years and years.
I went with a carbon fiber look but obviously there is 100s of vinyl to choose from.
I want some kinda custom vinyl wrap. Maybe match the seat design. Or even rather get a shop to make literally the same thing as my seat and glue it to that so it matches. Think that would be pretty cool tbh

It’s not listed under 8Y. It’s the 8V unit. Most 8V & mk7 suspension stuff fits the 8Y. It’s the same body underneath just new panels etc.
You can get a real magnetic paddle kit and install it yourself, you work on generators and aircraft so I’m fairly certain you’re more mechanically proficient than I am, I’m a generac certified tech and I was able to do it.

I actually have a question. So I assume you’ve seen the Golf R and it’s nice paddles. Do you think it would be possible to swap them onto a S3? Since I know it just has those small ones I figured what it would take to swap the R ones in and it would look better than extensions! I’ve never owned a DSG but the S3 is nicer than the R.
And I would love to own another MQB car again. Here in SATX traffic is a bit to bad to own a manual. My calves are already different shape from my stage 2 clutch

Not any positive thoughts 😅😅 seen them fail too many times to wanna try it for myself. They are very cool (ha) systems though!
Methanol works well, problem is the systems do not.
I love the S3 look. Just odd that the R does have transmission and coolant temps on the dash but the S3 don’t. Also I did notice the R front bumper is open for the transmission cooler on one side. The S3 interior much better also
the s3 has a vent open on the front on one side and closed on the other. It bothers me that the s3 didn't come with psi gauge too
@@MistaBrown420 What? Well it’s kinda useless as it reads absolute pressure with boost but I guess after a tune APR recalibrated it so it should read only boost

China lol any of those china shops will do it. You lose self driving though. But ACC DCC all that other stuff still works. The new wheel won’t have the hand sensor so self driving just won’t work. I coded it out as well to get rid of the light

Yeah I need to add a piece of foam to it or something.. just goes to show how much stiffer I’ve made the chasis though so I guess that’s a plus lol
