Nice video Bryce as always. Question, why didn’t you do the 2x4 method? I know you had a previous method doing this on your MK7 MANual R. I’m actually getting ready to redo my suspension. I originally installed ED springs on stock strut/shocks using the 2x4 method. It was okay, kind of sketchy getting the strut back in for me. Anyway, I’m thinking of removing the strut how you did it here. Also, Humble Mechanic seems to like it this way also.
It’s less sketchy and I had some other things to adjust and check on as well. To be honestly the only reason I did the 2x4 was because back then I only had hand tools, and fighting that axle bolt was really not fun all alone. Now that I have some real impacts (Milwaukee high torque is a beast) I can just zip right through the process without doing anything sketchy lol

Looks sick! also in a pervious video you mentioned a brake upgrade. Have you thought about perhaps staying with the stock sized rotors being oem or 034 2 piece and maybe upgrading the caliper to the oem akebono 6 piston that come on like the q7 and other models? You'd be able to stick to the 18" tires and improve the modulate ability with the 6pots.
I didn’t realize those 6 piston would work.. are those the same as the macan caliper? I would love a “OEM+” setup honestly. As I sit I’d prolly do the 034 rotors front and rear with new pads and call it a day, but if I can save even more weight I’d love to do that too without spending thousands more
Do you think its possible to change the front coilover spring down the line without pulling the entire coilover out? In my last car I was able to leave the bottom bolts connected to the coilover, disconnect the top bolts, endlinks etc and pull it down enough to pop the coil off and slide a differant spring on. Not having to disconnect the axle to change spring rates would be great. It was impossible with the strut setup but the coilover was much shorter and didnt need spring compressor etc to swap so it made it a quick 1 hour spring swap.
It very well might be possible! I’ve never seen or tried it myself but it is significantly shorter!

Question, on the eqt coilovers it won’t be necessary to swap or upgrade the top mounts right since they come fixed or adjustable?
Correct. You just pick whatever tops you want when you order. But you could always change it down the line if you wanted to
@@BryceJordanProductions I forgot, are the magnetic rear top mounts reusable or manageable to swap out onto the coilovers too? Or a new set of rear top mounts are required?
You can use the oem ones, I’d personally swap them while you’re in there though for some 034 units

@maniirdzjr24 there’s no wire to the mount 😃 only to the strut.
