  • This class is part 4 of a 7-part Chakra Series. We focus on the Heart Chakra (Anahata in Sanskrit), which is located in our chest, in and around our heart. It's our center of love for both ourself and others.
    Throughout this class we'll focus on poses and practices that activate and open our heart chakra - through backbends and shoulder opening and strengthening poses. The heart chakra is associated with the color green, the element air, joy and compassion. It is the bridge between the lower three chakras, the more physical chakras, and the upper three chakras, the more spiritual chakras.

    Thank you for your wonderful yoga classes. You are an awesome teacher!
    My longs and heart are feeling much better now. I had some heart chakra meditation music in the background and fresh spring air flowing around me. Finding the courage to forgive myself and sending love to all wonderful places on this earth.

    This practice left me with a smile on my face. I thought you were headed towards thread the needle and instead we ended up doing arm massage! Much more comfortable and comforting. I tend to use towels instead of blocks under my neck and back as they are softer and lower.
    I also can never decide if I should squat lower and let my heels come up or stay way higher but with my heels down. Also, if you could do more cuing of toe position (like you did for camel) that would be helpful; I sometimes don't know when we put a leg down whether to lay my foot flat or stay on the toe.
    You are awesome and you are loved! Namaste

      I remember thinking of you when I taught this class and we did the arm massage instead of thread the needle :) Towels, pillows, and blankets are a great alternative to the blocks under your neck and back.
      As far as squatting and heels being lifted, I would say whatever is most comfortable for you. Often our heels don't touch the ground when achilles and calves are tight, so if it feels good to ground heels and stretch them stay there, or if you like going lower and lifting I think that's fine too!
      Yes, good feedback on cueing toes! Namaste, Suzanne!

      Floating Yoga School Interesting - I just try to pay attention to keeping my back straight but was always curious as to what was the "proper" adaption for those of us who are a bit tight. Your classes help me so much, I'm glad if I can give you good feedback in return ;)

    hi..the style your are teaching in your videos is Vinyasa or ashtanga? I m really getting confused between the two. some help is much appreciated :)

    • @FloatingYogaSchool
      @FloatingYogaSchool  7 років тому +2

      Hi Shrruti! It's vinyasa, but vinyasa has roots in ashtanga, so I can see how it's confusing! Vinyasa is often translated as "to carefully place," and many people think of it any time you flow with your breath. The chaturanga to updog to downdog series of poses is called "vinyasa" in both vinyasa and ashtanga (and maybe others!) classes. Thanks for watching!
