  • This class is part 7 of a 7-part Chakra Series. We focus on the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara in Sanskrit), which is located at the top of your head. It's our connection to higher levels of consciousness.
    Throughout this class we'll focus on poses and practices that stimulate our crown chakra. The crown chakra is associated with the color white, violet, or gold, and our connection to the rest of the universe, bliss, and awareness.

    Hi Helen! I really enjoyed all the toe stand variations in this class. I smashed my knee falling out of my attempt at crow on my fists (I knew better than to let myself fall on my head), but as the ballet teacher likes to say, if you never fall you aren't trying hard enough! Namaste.

    In class I was told I was "cheating" when I let my shoulder rest on my thigh in humble warrior. Is it wrong to do so?

    • @FloatingYogaSchool
      @FloatingYogaSchool  7 років тому

      Hi! No, I don't think so. If you're resting all your weight on your thigh and not engaging any core muscles I would encourage you to try and engage and lift but a little rest on your thigh isn't a big deal. More important to me is that you still lengthen your back and stay strong through your legs. Great question!!

      I was also corrected by the same teacher for letting my head down in lizard. I've seen it done on many videos on You Tube,. Which is correct? Thanks!!

    • @FloatingYogaSchool
      @FloatingYogaSchool  7 років тому

      Haha, I also think that's fine! Every teacher teaches poses a little differently, and it may depend on the lineage. I would approach the teacher after class and ask for a reason why to do or not do those things. If they can explain it in a way that makes sense to you, follow their reasoning, if not just do what feels best for you!!

      Thank you Helen. I will ask the teacher. I was singled out and thought I was doing something "wrong" or harmful to my body. Thanks again for ALL you do!

      My big "rule" in my yoga class is that no matter what, yoga shouldn't be stressful. I hate to think there are yoga teachers out there who single out people, yell at them, or make them feel badly, but I know there are because I've experience them too (and everyone learns differently so maybe some people like that?). Definitely ask the teacher for their reasoning! Thank you for sharing and supporting me. Have a wonderful week!
