- In this video I discussed about the game saints row 2, a game that constantly gets referred to as a GTA clone, and how it's not even close to a clone. If u haven't played saints row 2 yet, I would recommend you play it, it's an awesome game that I enjoyed playing through.

Deep Silver could've saved Volition if they used that $200 million to remaster or remake the first two games for every available console including the switch.

Playing games like this on PC can be a tough experience and also the Saints Row hell game should've never existed.
Got gat out of hell on the pc somehow for free thinking epic games played it for an hour or so then got bored and never touched it again map looked kinda cool otherwise waa meh

I’ll always think Saints Row is the superior GTA. Maybe not in story but definitely gameplay and features. You can customize your characters body features, hair, take part in numerous activities that unlocks upgrades like immunity to fire or bullet damage, past times like car surfing, pimping or streaking, even play as a cop going around fucking shit up. Things that even GTA 5 doesn’t let you do and Saints Row 2 came out in 2008.
Also some features like destroying a train and stuff like that, and picking up trash, traffic signs etc. Are far superior
GTA 5 doesn’t allow players to purchase nitrous for cars or bikes. SR2 on the other hand allowed you to modify nearly any vehicle to your hearts content.
GTA 5 didn’t have an enterable casino, SR2 does.
I could go on and on about what SR2 had before GTA 5, but those are just some of the features I could remember.

There are so many open world games that beat GTA to feature-rich experiences. They're just always behind because of Rockstar's attention to storytelling and detail which makes for iconic stories that some even treat like movies. If you remember how that Scarface game beat GTA to SO MANY features (character switching, calling for vehicles, even Trevor's ability is borrowed from Tony's Blind Rage) that GTA will only proceed to have a decade later, and that game still got no love compared to the GTAs of that era, you just know that GTA holds a different appeal that keeps people glued to the franchise.
@@Boopy357 for real. GTA though undoubtedly has the better story and lore, but I give the gameplay and features to the other games. Saints Row especially. Hell even Saints Row 3 and 4 were way more fun that GTA 5 and that’s a fact

The boss fights are kinda dumb because you can cheese them by running away and regening health. The game really should have released without health regen. You got a 4 slot inventory system and dead enemies even drop food sometimes, so health regen on top is excessive. The game plays fine when modded that way too, as I've done 2 playthroughs like that.

around %75 of everything that was mentioned in this video is was in San Andreas, I feel like it would be a more appropriate comparison considering San Andreas excessive amounts of playtime and variety. It’s actually astounding how much content they fit into a ps2 game

Got this game and played it obsessively for about a dozen hours doing side content. Eventually my character got so powerful I couldn't get into a situation where I'd actually die, I haven't felt compelled to complete the main story tbh. Awesome game
Saints Row is leaps and bounds better than GTA 4 when it comes to gameplay and the open world. There’s just so much to do, and the gameplay being so fun just sets it ahead. GTA always had the story down, but SR2 was ahead of its time.
SR2-3 imo had so much more different than GTA. i played those first while playing GTA and when i was younger i never thought they were similar

I had way more fun with SR2 than both GTA IV and V.
IMO Vice City, San Andreas, and Saints Row 2 are the best GTA-style games ever, and I don't see a need for them to compete. Everyone should be able to enjoy them all and appreciate what makes them all special in their own rights.
I disagree about driving being bad. The 2 PLAYERS at ANYTIME IS amazing!! And or npc homies.
You failed to mention how big and amazing the ONLINE MULTIPLAYER was and impact it had on people and true gamers. Very fun days back in time. The clans, daily friends, the battles/ team death matches. It was truly one of a kind with the gestures and shxt talkin, or the nice friendly gestures. I have to see if i can invest and get back on multiplayer online… hut waiting forever for a game to start, was always worth it. Different maps and lobbies, and the feud. It truly had a mark on the gaming culture especially for me. On a daily use for years at a time.
And for its time.. its sad its so old but all my younger siblings played it before 🔥

@@erso_returned2530 I didn't specifically say remasters I said ports too it would be good to be able to play these games again on new hardware because a lot of people can't afford an old physical copy and an old console but there always that chance they were push out a buggy broken mess for full price and that's unacceptable

Saints Row 2 is better than majority of GTA to me. Saints Row 2 and GTA 4 are literally neck and neck as far as story
Saints Row 1 was the best. SR2 was more popular simply because it was not an Xbox exclusive, which the first one was. Broader audience means a louder fanbase to voice their preference.
Except for the fact that SR1 had no checkpoints, & getting the heads of Highrollers & Los Carnales was frustrating as hell. I liked the 1st SR, but liked the 2nd one better.

Sick vid, i feel like you hit the points incredibly well and im looking forward to you covering more games (especially sleeping dogs which many people have pointed out). Only things i somewhat disagree on are that the driving really aint as bad as you made it sound. I agree its quite bad but i never felt like it was a pain to drive any of them, but then again i have used the GOTR (absolutely needed if you want to get the best experience nowadays + super customizable) patch for the last 2 playthroughs that makes it alot better supposedly. Also ya mentioned about there not being any missions that felt boring/shouldn't be in the game, but i disagree. Some of the escort missions (the ones you're a passanger and defend the vehicle, not the escort activity) felt horrible just because theres so many things that could absolutely destroy you, even if you're playing perfectly (ofc these are all my own opinions and every person experiences the game differently). Regardless i think you did a great job at conveying what made the game as fantastic as it is. Been a saints row fan for the last decade and a half almost, im really glad that people still talk about saints row 2 as i think its one of the best games ever made. Sadly we're in a time where Mike Watson/IdolNinja has passed away (R.I.P truly one of the greatest people in gaming and his love for the series and the fans wont ever be forgotten) and that Volition has shut down, we're more than likely never getting the patch that all the fans were waiting for.

U very much should like the story is split into 3 different parts so I do suggest u break up the game into different parts by playing through one gang as there's not much crossover between them
Drive thru's work in SR2, rear seats on two door convertibles as well- all add-on lights when modifying cars, things even 5 still falls short on in the small details SR has been doing since 1 and 2.

Saints row being called a gta clone is like call of duty being called a clone of medal of honor, however i think its more of a competitor than a clone because at least it was the first game that pretty much evolved around gangs than going for the usual gta being a parody of America, i love saints row 2 the story was amazing and the customization was 10 times better than gta

What’s better about SR2 side missions than GTA ones (and needing respect to start missions) is that to get 100% in gta u need to do the missions in SR2 side jobs go for credit as missions but on top of that the side jobs are fun have unlockables and add stats/fighting styles etc
I found San andreas to be better saints row 2 is great but i was more impressed with San andreas still to this day. GTA4 is favorite GTA game but its very differnt to sqints Row.2 critics found it to be more impressive and next gen the saints row 2 at the time. The choices you can make in GTA4 which lead to diffenrt side quests and being first GTA to have more then one adding it had less activites the San but they give you much more Insight on Niko the story of GTA4 is also great and the Ragdoll physics are still great to this day and the Graphics at the time were amazing it was truly a Next gen game.

There was also a fantastic gta knockoff called Mercenaries: World Of Destruction that allowed you to play as a mercenary in a fictionalized second korean war.
I played mercenaries 2 : world in flames it was set in Venezuela and it had impressive destruction and military vehicles But you cannot fly planes. We can fly helicopters.

Yh driving is very much a pain in the ass abd ive played the game 50+ times i suggest if u like this game u try sleeping dog if u haven't already its the perfect mix of aracdey and realistic and story based but yh sr2 and sleeping dogs is possibly my mount Rushmore of games

Personally I think saints row 2006 gets forgotten about, I would say that was superior to san andreas with its more simple and smooth gameplay. It was nowhere near as frustrating to do missions or turf wars, saints row 2 improved on alot and was an amazing open world game but I feel the silly comedy elements were just too much, it should have kept the the more serious tone of the first game

It's funny how Saints Row has been compared to GTA, yet eventually Rockstar started ripping them off and copy the very direction Volition took to avoid being compared. All the ridiculous sci-fi stuff eventually came to GTA Online. And from the trailer of GTA VI, it seems they want to compete with the Saints Row reboot for who has the lamest main characters.

@@ScorpionWag It's not exactly copying, more like repeating the same mistake. The whole part of the main characters not looking any badass or menacing, more like NPCs you'd run over in the OG games. The main characters in SR 2022 look like Starbucks customers while the main characters from GTA VI look like a trailer park couple on welfare.

I would say potentially better than San Andreas for me, I hated the driving in this game. But III and Vice City had terrible driving, and San Andreas was okay. The other stuff in SR2 could make up for it; however, definitely wouldn’t say better than IV or V. IV’s car handling is like a near perfect mix of arcade and realism making it feel like a car movie from the 70s with cars surviving stunts that would be impossible in real life, and Grand Theft Auto V’s car handling is the closest I have found to an Arcady masterpiece. And the combat is better in both. Overall main gameplay like driving and combat trumps customization IMP. Unless a new Saints Row comes out with driving that makes GTA IV and maybe even BeamNG look bad, or better arcade driving than V, and better combat, I wouldn’t say it’s better than GTA IV and V. What’d I’d really want to see is missions as crazy as the ones in Saints Row and potentially content, but in a setting that still makes it feel grounded or realistic. A good example of what I mean is if GTA V kept or improved the same driving from IV, and made the combat more realistic like IV, while still having unrealistic things like the Railgun, content from the cut agent Trevor DLC like the Jetpack or Oppressor, the mission involving stopping the end of the world, etc… unrealistic content but immersive feeling gameplay I guess is a way to put it.

The driving for me in my opinion was way better than GTA 3, Vice City but the flying planes is a pain in the ass. One wrong move or if you hit your helicopter on one of the buildings you can lose control and end up crushing it causing you restart a mission.
the only reason I've never played SR2 is that everyone's telling me how shit it is on PC. I'd love to try it though, having played Saints Row from 3 onwards, i feel like I've only seen one half of what this series is about.
Unless ur trying to install like 30 mods to make it run somewhat okay, ur better off playing it the xbox 360 or xbox one

I always felt that Saints Row 1 and 2 were better than than the regular Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5 because the story was way more interesting; But when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 4: Ballad Of Gay Tony, that game was probably better than Saints Row 1 and 2, but unfortunately, Ballad Of Gay Tony was kind of short for an open world game
