I loved Saints Row 2 for brutality and 3 for characters, crazines and music.
I felt more attached to the characters in saints row one and two. It was down to earth and everything happening felt like it could be real. I’ll never understand why they decided to throw that all away in 3&4 for silly antics and blowing up the earth. How did something so humble end up like that? Shouldn’t have ever taken the direction that started with saints row 3.

I did enjoy the gang aspect to these games. Like customization of the outfits and what type of gang you run.
I loved in 2 that you got to go further with it. Costumes, gang signs, oh it was a riot.

I love Johnny. He's fantastic. That scene of him in SR2 in the courtroom is probably just my favourite Gat scene in the franchise. Just him casually trying to tell the judge that his murder count should really be closer to 250, due to "the statute of limitations".....which isn't a thing for murder.....and then getting genuinely pissed off and trying to argue the point when he found that out? Classic Johnny.

I played all the Saints Row games except Gat out of hell. I enjoyed them all to certain degrees, but Saints Row 2 will always be my favorite.
Saints row could’ve done something like mass effect and got there games remastered altogether and filled with dlcs and I bet people would’ve been more excited about that than the reboot
They are trying their best to distance themselves from the first 2 games
They would have to make the first 2 from scratch as they lost the original files so a remastered version is impossible it would have to be a remake.

It kinda confusing me how Saints Row (new one) is still getting a lot of good reviews from people. Hell, even 6/10 is being too nice. It seems like peoples standards with games have really gone downhill. Maybe that’s why developers think they can do whatever they want since people eat this shit up.
It's not even about the scores being good, it's all about all major reviewers literally not using at least 50% of their scale. Seriously, go to any major review website and go through all the bad games that came out in the last 5 years, and the majority of their scores will be in the upper 50% of the scale.
Game journalism scale has been a meme for awhile, it only goes from 6-10 if its a title from a big publisher
Man, I dunno. It's a buggy game, but at the end of the day I think the latest Saints Row is pretty much a standard 6/10 or 5/10. It isn't completely horrible, it just ain't great. Thinking of games I'd consider pure 1/10 or 10/10 is nigh impossible to me. You'd basically need to go to bootleg games or buggy games to the point of being unbeatable for me to start giving out 1/10s nowadays.
In general though people have gotten more forgiving about shoddy launch experiences because of the availability of patches and updates to make the game better after the fact. Which is certainly a rather large downside for people who would expect a functioning game on launch.
If anything it shows that people are lenient on criticism for other games over the years. It's not even that bad of a game, it's just an easy pick and choose kinda target.
@@coolpizzacook you’re wrong. It’s completely horrible. There’s not a single redeeming thing about the game except the customisation of vehicles but none of them are fun to use and they all sound terrible.
The gameplay (its a third person shooter and the gunplay is horrible), the sound, the graphics (looks like a 360 game), the characters, the story, the writing, the dialogue, it’s all horrendous and the game is completely lifeless. On top of all that it’s a buggy, broken mess. The dialogue and the story is the cringiest stuff I’ve ever heard in my life, it’s so bad it’s offensive. It’s written by people who spend 24 hours a day on twitter and Reddit.
To top it off it’s just not saints row and what they’ve done to the series with this game is criminal. I wouldn’t even recommend people to pirate it, it’s not worth the space on your hard drive for free.

Saints Row is one of the few games who manages to be a underrated gem with great writing and a next gen dumpster fire at the same time, it's sad that Gat had a infinitely bigger chance of getting 250 with the statute of limitations than the Volition Inc have of saving the new one.
2 really is a true master piece tho, I still remember when I went to my friends house and he put it on, ''looks like a poor mans gta clone'' was the first words my dumb ass uttered and within 15 minutes the game had me choking on that line harder than a alter boy in the Vatican.

Two of my favorite bits from the OG Saint's Row was the Freckle Bitch's ads on the radio and the whole "Oh shit, it's the Los Carnales!" thing. Still rewatch from time to time.

I played Saints Row 1 for the first time in the last two years. I figured it wouldn't be very good given its age, but I was really surprised how good it was. Now, look what happened to a game in the same franchise with the same name that released recently... Yikes.
same i started with 2 when it released on the 360. i didnt wrap around and play 1 until more recently and the only thing i have against it is the lack of checkpoints. driving multiple times to the airport just to lose to a random rocket is just annoying.
If this game was released today in this EXACT same state, I'd STILL rather play this game over that reboot that is made out of 100% cringe.

The ragdoll missions were my favorite. So fun.
And no one remembers Saints Row: Gat out of Hell where it's Johnny Gat from the previous games but now in hell and here I can basically describe the game in a nutshell.
The captain of your creation forced to marry the daughter of Satan himself in a middle of someones birthday while doing the "What is your name?" thing to demons and so Johnny Gat like any normal person would do decides to cause chaos through mini games to fill up a bar to kill Satan...........also out of nowhere Disney song.

The worst sin a game can commit isn't being bad is to be mediocre/boring. A bad game can be funny to make fun of and of course a good game is always welcomed but a mediocre game will always be shit.
Kev you should try playing True Crime: New York City. One of my favorite games growing up. It's like if GTA and saints row had a love child.
The thing with Agents of Mayhem is that I can forgive it for a few reasons
1) The majority of the OG Saints Row characters actually come back as playable characters
2) It fits into the franchise's story, as this is supposed to be the remade world Johnny wished for in Gat out of hell, making that ending canon
3) It actually respects the original story and timeline of Saints Row. One good example is Kingpin's backstory. See, Kingpin is actually Pierce Washington, and in this unviverse, instead of the playa taking out all the gangs in Saints Row 1, Pierce actually just pulled up and said "Yo, I got cash, let's all join up under me, and everyone goes home rich", basically making Tanya, Benjamin King, Los Carnales', etc. all work for him, making him the Kingpin of Saints Row.
Or how despite being brought back in a new world, all the OG characters retained their old personalities, making it so they didn't just erase these characters, but simply put them in a new situation.
It's not exactly Saints Row, but you can tell the soul of the franchise, and respect for it is still there.

Always hilarious when people drop into the comments to tell us how much they're enjoying their modern polished turd because they're living in an age where they've just come to accept poorly made (although sometimes pretty looking) golden turds. Games are all show with little substance these days, and the easily pleased will see it, eventually, in a decade once they've played many dozens of games and matured their tastes a little. The series is SR only in name now, none of the original vision and creativity is there anymore (nor i imagine any of the original creators that lead to it's success).
People have always sorta accepted trash, we just remember the good parts. Same as music, it never used to be better, but only all the good things are still played now so it seems like it was better. Although i hate it too you will never change the general public, they want a game that looks pretty and is a distraction.
Saints Row is a classic and I would prefer to play it again for the 4th time than play the new Saints Row.

I would just like to point out that Saint's Row 4 was supposed to be DLC. The developer was going under and the third one was so popular they thought expanding it into aa full game would save them but because they were starting from a base of it just being an add-on it turned out... the way it turned out.
