I’d rather replay old games like SR1 100x than play a lot of modern games. I used to think it was just nostalgia but I genuinely think games back in the day were just more fun. Maybe I’m just old lmao
Nostalgia isn't bad and you are kinda right, I feel the same way and I'm only 22 years old. Video games these days aren't really all that fun compared to the PS2/Xbox & PS3/X360 days. Most of them are just cash grabs and developers aren't really passionate about gaming anymore and worry about being too offensive.
That's exactly what Volition should have gone with for a Saints Row origin story. Instead, they decide to go with 4 college hipsters who decide to build a criminal empire to pay off their student loans. Leave it to modern game devs to ignore the fans and give us something that we not only don't want, but also never asked for. The characters in the "reboot" look like the kind of losers Johnny Gat would enjoy kicking the crap out of.
From what I’ve heard from Mrsaintsgodzilla21 the original Saints Row 2 was supposed to be a prequel about how Julius and Benjamin King fell apart and how the Saints were formed but that all fell apart when the animators got lazy and now we have the Saints Row we have now
That woman committing Suicide wasn’t a bug, you can find people all over the city doing it and sometimes they’ll yell funny things before they do it, also happens in Saints Row 2 as well.
Saints row is that one game franchise where it had the potential for it to be one of the best video game series out there but due to THQ going bankrupt and volition going WOKE is now sadly a cashgrab series
IDK new Saints Row looks amazing, dont you want to fight patriarchy and white supremacy while drinking Starbucks and posting cancel tweets on MacBook playing as Snowflake and Safespace???
@@GRAHAMICVS at which point was it ever confirmed that any of the characters were gay 🤔 Also being upset that black characters are in a Saints Row gake is pretty ironic
Volition not only is tone deaf, has gone politically correct, but they're incompotent AF too, since they either lost or corrupted the source code for first 2 games, which is presumably why we dont see remasters of these games.
They actually found the source code for 2 and had a guy working on making a free update that fixes stuff and adds the DLC to the PC version of the game, but he died from cancer last month and we don't know if they'll finish his work yet.
@@haus_o_slaughter628 Changing ''Freckle Bitch's'' to ''FBS'' and toning down the girl's look in it's advertising, ''Rim Jobs'' to ''Jim Robs''. Female characters de-sexualised, while putting a sexualised male character front and center. Creative director in the interviews talking about ''cultural appropriation'', self flaggelating that his studio is mostly white and male, talking about wanting ''diversity'' in the game to be reflected in people making it. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Played SR1 back in 2006 when I got my first Xbox 360. Man this game was no where near a GTA clone. Hell the game was more gangster than San Andreas. Please do either Saints Row 2 or Sleeping Dogs next.
I know right?! Ridiculous to claim the original Saints Row game as a GTA Clone. Heck it's the best one in the whole series! (And this is coming from someone who played Saints Row 2 first before playing the original Saints Row!)
Yes GTA is more organised crime saints row is gangster and imo way more fun than GTA with all the activities. It's dumbass reviewers like IGN that ruined Saints Row calling it "GTA clone"
Oh mannn.... Sleeping Dogs is so much fun. I always felt that the Chinese- American 'Triads were so underhanded in GTAs and other media. But Sleeping Dogs flushed them out so great. The martial arts combat was a drug on its own. Maybe the only game where the guns were outclassed by hand to hand fights. The story was a real good gem too. Sad that the developer went bankrupt and had to cancel the sequel.
When i heard there was going to be an SR reboot i was hoping that they would go back to the first game and do the story as orginally intended, SR 1 and 2 will forever be some of my favorite games
They could have taken off from Saints Row 2 and do a second timeline where the boss "dreamed about Genki, some zombies, an alien invasion and going to hell" referring to the og timeline as a dream. Would have been what the kids call kino.
@Longplays & Other Random Stuff What!? Steelport was fucking horrible. It's the most un-inspiried, bland, poorly designed, rushed looking map I've ever seen in an open world crime game. Not even a re-design like SR2 had with Stilwater would fix it.
@@RealRogerFK This were perfect. A rebooted saints row 3 where the game started in a dream showing us saints row 3,4 and gat out of hell and than the boss awake and Saints Row 3 starts.
SR1 that gangsta walk, The hoodie with the hood up or the pimp coat & hat with pimp cane, listening to Grindin by Clipse. ✊🏿 Gat, Troy & Dex the og homies
23 years old ... i come back to this game, load a new save, and take out gangs different types of ways OR leave the gangs completely and just start wars all day. This game had longevity.
I wanna wake up in a world where Saints Row 1 either gets a remaster or remake instead of the reboot, or hell even the reboot starts from scratch and is actually what most old school SR fans wanted. But no, I wake up in this dystopia and I get up from bed knowing that there is a studio called Volition, making a reboot where the characters of said reboot wanna pay off the student loans because they don't want to get a real job. And also the fact reboot partially screams "watch dogs 2 lol". Whatever, I guess we live in a funny world. Though I gotta admit that 2000s were some of the best times ever and it's shame that it's been already 20 years since the millennium. Or maybe it's just the brainwash provided by nostalgia but I couldn't give a damn.
I used to say “it’s bad to think old games were better because that’s just the nostalgia talking”. But, as I’m playing SR2, it has more than whatever Saints Row 2022 offers.
@@lupression4457 Well, I appreciate that. I've played all the others so far in the series to 100% completion, but so far I'm really really digging this one the most tbh.
I started with the 3rd myself, but when I got a pack on Steam that gave me the 2nd, the 3rd and the 4th with all DLC's included, dude, I just cant get over the 2, Saints Row 2 is the exact perfection of the Series, I cant play SR1 because I never had a console, but its clearly seen that Saints Row 2 perfected everything SR1 did but more and better, and I love the map in SR2, feels so good and engaging to explore.
I think saying SR2 is the best is fine, but I first got into the series waiting for the third to release because it looked cool in the Gameinformor magazine. They were selling the first 2 games in a bundle, I started with 2, but while doing it I did one as well, both are great games, but when I played it there was a time where I was more interested in the first and IIRC I actually beat the first one before the second even though I started 2 first.
SR2 improved allot of things from SR1, but it was also missing allot of great features from SR1. SR2 is my favorite game ever, but there are things in SR1 that i think we're handled better.
@@improbablyyourdad8458 sadly, I will never be able to play SR1, all I know is from watching gameplays, back in the day, it was really expensive to get your hands on a Console in my country, nowadays even more, so I guess I will never get to experience SR1, but hopefully I had the chance to play SR2 and dude, the story hit like a truck, everything felt more real, while at the same time the gameplay was quite bizarre, but the story not, you see, SR2 had the modesty to leave the bizarre for side activities, while the story was more grounded to Earth, it was the perfect balance.
I started out with SR3, myself. I had never heard of Saints Row until a buddy of mine showed me an article about SR3 in an issue of Game Informer and then I saw one of the trailers on UA-cam. It caught my interest, so I decided to give it a shot. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to try the earlier games. Haven't tried the first, since I don't own an Xbox 360, but I tried SR2 and loved it, then went on to play SR4. One feature in SR2 that I wish they would have kept in the 3rd & 4th games is the "Replay Mission" feature. That's really my only complaint about SR3 & SR4. Other than that, I enjoyed all of the multi-platform Saints Row games (and yes, that includes Gat Out Of Hell). I am planning to get an Xbox 360 so I can play the first game.
@@iiturbulencell8245 Saint's Row 2 pretty much improved on every aspect of Saint's Row 1 wouldn't call the first game better but it's more of a personal taste. The city alone got a massive face lift in Saint's Row 2 where i found going back to Saint's Row 1 really hard as the city itself felt so underdeveloped the story being the only reason i really return.
I know this video is about sr1 and yes this game was underated but sr2 for me had the perfect mix of seriousness, jokes sadness and all the emotions and its a shame we probably wont see another like it as it was the perfect combo that not even a gta game has captured in the same way, with the deaths of main characters feeling so emotional but also the badass moments feeling so good like the ending shooting the guy at the altor building, it was my favourite game for a long time the only thing that changed that is the fact i havent played it in so long, such a shame the direction the franchise has taken, rip saints row unless the new game is actually amazing, but i have serious doubts
Still, even though SR 3 and especially 4 cranked up the goofiness, if you go through the story of the entire series, it's pretty awesome. SR 4 I still love, especially rewarding when you've played the entire series, cause then you recognize all the call backs to the older games. Plus the missions give you a bit of a look into each of the other Saint's heads. I think the biggest problem for SR 4 was simply just them blowing up the Earth at the start. The rest is fine to me, but blowing up Earth kind of shot them in the foot narratively, as we'd either go further into space, or have to use time travel to fix it. Instead they just went with a whole entire reboot. Not even a reboot with any of the old characters from any of the games. I feel Agents of Mayhem did the reboot thing right, at least that one still has some of the characters show up.
I just got Saints Row 1 a few days ago and boy is it a joy to play. It's easily one of the best games I've played. I don't mind some of the janky stuff as I find it part of the charm and the side activities are the first one's that I've played that don't feel forced or meaningless. I'm glad I saw this review and looked more into the first two Saints Row games as I can honestly say I was once in that crowd that called the series a "GTA Clone". My opinion has changed and I honestly believe that GTA has some things to learn from Saints Row. The first two anyway. Not the 3rd or 4th. A great review for a great game. Saints Row 2 is next on my list to buy.
To be fair there was 2 full gta games after San Andreas. There was Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. Both developed for psp but also released on PS2. So many people think GTA IV came after San Andreas and it’s simply not the case. VCS is super underrated too.
The saints 3 was my favorite until the reboot trailer dropped and I saw everyone talk about saints row 2. I thought I'd give it a try, and it is awesome.
@@Adam_X78 I agree. Usually, I don't buy a specific console to play just one game, but in this case, because I love the Saints Row series so much and I want so badly to play the first game, I'll make an exception.
@@Rambo-Gaming That’s like what I mean I feel bad that you have to get an Xbox just to play saints row it’s a great game seriously I just wish would you get a remaster of it
For me the S tier and D tier are swapped. SR1 K12 had amazing drum and bass tracks and it's always hilarious to cause mass destruction to the sounds of easy listening music.
Saints Row. The first time I played this game, I had a field day. A lot swearing, throwing the controller during some activities, like Hitman, and the airport mission in the Carnales Story. I used to camp out on Demolition Derby all the time gaining a ton of money and also collect Attraziones that sometimes randomly spawn. Also you can grab a Titan (Armored Truck) and save it in the garage, you can blow it up and rinse repeat. Saints Row was and still is a great game, loved the premise of it, the story and Donnie's quote, "Some Fifth Street Alter Boys" I died laughing when I heard that. Pimp Daddy Purple. Perfection.
Yes! Blowing up the Titan in my garage was so much fun! Me and my little cousin would call armoured trucks "Titans" when we were out in the city! Good times.
I've said it since 3 came out. Saint row 1 and 2 were the best and only good ones. Granted 3 was a fun sandbox, mess around and fight cops kinda experience, the stories became meaningless.. they murdered the whole story and I really felt after 2 they could've gone up to compete with the likes of GTA but that dream was quickly smothered out.
I'm a huge GTA fan who had completed most of the GTA games. I started playing Saints Row back last month for the 1st time because I wanted to play more open world games after Rockstars lack of respect for their own fanbase to deliver a brand new open world game. Saints Row 1 is a fantastically underrated game. It was refreshing to know more about all the awesome different gang factions you'd eventually have to take over like the Vice Kings, Los cornales and the Rollerz. Saints Row is very unique with its storytelling, plus the different side activities you do makes the game more fun. I love the characters like Lin, Julius, Dex, Johnny. The Stilwater city is just beautiful to explore. This may have one of the best map design I was surprised at how detailed it was. I would love to replay the game next time. It was brilliant.
Saints Row 1 was my introduction to the series, and while 2 is where my heart and most of my memories lie, I vividly remember the fun I had on the first game, and how hyped it made me when we got a sequel! Thanks for that little retrospective, it was a real blast from the past. :)
Some of SR1s missions still to this day haunt and scare me, but no matter how hard I hit my head against the learning curve I always come back. This game has real replayability and it holds up all these years later. True OG
By the way, THAT PIMP COAT. That coat has no problems with physics, it doesn't look that glued whatsoever, why the hell nobody added those long coats in SR-2 without problems? I remember one coat in SR-2 and it looked awfully glued to the Playa's legs
The fact that Saints Row 3 and 4 got that crazy shit due to people calling it a gta clone and later Rockstar ripped off Saints Row 3 and 4 in gta online Imagine if Rockstar rips off Saints Row Reboot and make the characters woke in gta 6
I owe one of my friends big time for this. He was bit into San Andreas, and while I played it and... didn't really like it, he still was excited to have me over to play Saint's Row when he got a copy. At the time, I was about to file it away in the 'GTA Clone' category myself. Because I was (and still am at times) an idiot. But, after I played a few missions, bought some custom clothes, and found a radio station that worked for me, I was having a blast. I bought my own copy shortly afterwards, and have never regretted it.
4:51. No the games that came out and filled the four year wait was gta liberty city stories and gta vice city stories. Especially gta vice city stories being just as underrated as saints row.
So, I feel like I should mention few things (and yes, I'm going to bring several points and texts from Gypsy's video) - While yes, Saint's Row was inspired by GTA, the development of the first game started in 2003, right after Vicy City came out. It's not the only time something like this happened, as another popular example is mafia series - the development started before GTA 3. You mentioned what I'm about to say in one of the videos - developers haven't revealed it up until one of their anniversary livestreams, but Saints were originally meant to wear green instead of purple. What happened was, I shit you not, San Andreas got announced. So Developers realized that now they're making a similar game, in similar climates, with a gang that looks like a cheap knock-off of Grove Street. And only when you know this context, you know just how tragic this really is - Developers themselves saw the wave of "GTA Clones" comments coming mile away before the game even released. They did what little they could to mitigate it, but gaming outlets - back when they had power - convinced everyone otherwise. Criticism like that, whether true or false, messes up with you. Knowing that, it's no wonder the series became what it did with SR3 and 4. Hell, developers said it themselves, since SR2, Saint's Row just felt like them trying to say "we're not GTA, we're not like them". In the end, you can blame game journalists, you can blame Rockstar, you can blame even gamers - but sad truth is, Volition is the one to blame. They could not differentiate the praise from bullshit, opting instead to appease the haters, and condemn their fans. Secondly - believe it or not, other ports of Saint's Row 1 were being made, before being scrapped. More well known is Wii port, but there was also a PS3 port in the works. As far as I'm aware, publisher had alot of saying in the matter, but for whatever reason they chose to pull the plugs when ports were in the middle of development, or at the finish (hell, SR1 on PS3 even got all the ratings needed for release. I also think there was a review, but I'm not that certain about it).
As someone who likes the SR series and who's only played (finished 4/played some of 3/and some of 2 and never 1)... And who's actually happened to be playing them backwards which is interesting...I appreciate this comment. Thanks! I love them all so far and I'm excited to be honest to play 5 after seeing some leaked footage but, this was cool to read this and learn about some older history with the 1st SR. 👍🏾
@@Blessthefall333ccc Personally... I'm not buying the Reboot. I say that having seen the leaked footage. Mostly, it has to due with beginning of 2022 being stacked. First, Monster Hunter Rise on PC on January 12. Then, Elden Ring on 22, and then Dying Light 2 on February 4.
I played all the saints row games and I absolutely love the first on, it also had a really great demo that showcases the fun you could have with this game.
Dude grinding was a major hit in the states and by no means not from an underground artist. It’s by a group named The clipse spawned Pusha T and Farrell
The soundtrack had some bangers. They didn't have Rockstar money, so they didn't get alot of mainstream songs. Soundtrack was cool with talk radio station too. They were mocking conservatives, actually taking those stations seriously is stupid. I wouldn't like this guy's record collection

@@D3athL1vin It's a funny radio station but it really isn't smart satire, and that's not me being a conservative that's just how I see it, I feel the same way about The Liberal Super Hero in GTA V, it's funny but it could be smarter
I never finished SR1. But did play 2, The Third, and 4(didn't play Gat Out Of Hell either). R.I.P Michael Clarke Duncan. Also, I love Brandon Keener as Tobias in the Saints Row games.
I really believe the first game got *thoroughly* shafted with XBox exclusivity. I remember seeing the first trailer for the game on a demo disc that used to come with a local PC magazine IIRC. The one that looks like a "next-gen" street where a lowrider rolls up to the camera bearing dollar signs for hubcaps and then a guy jumps out and robs a jewelry store. Just imagine, it's like San Andreas but more! More customization, better graphics, an extended effort being put into car customization, gangs, what looks like reactive NPCs and world and so on... It looked amazing - even though it was pre-rendered and fake, but the game actually offers a lot of it. Back then, I loved SA, but I always thought that it could do so much more with many of the elements it brought to the table - which I now see wasn't really an option on the PS2, but games like NFS Underground 2 had already shown us what can be done to cars, Oblivion had shown us character/potato customization, etc. I must've watched the trailer 60 times and there was always a sigh at the end. I'll never be able to afford/convince my parents to get a 360, and even if I did I could never afford games for it (it was harder to find a PS2 without a modchip than with one, back then). History might've played out very different if it just released on more platforms.
In my opinion saints row 1 just felt so good to play the storyline was just mint customisation was pretty good for the time and just going from nobody on a street corner to clearing the streets up
If it wasn't for my cousin thanks to him, I wouldn't have even heard of Saints Row. I was glued to it. But, it really felt nonexistent at the time. I have never in my life ever heard anyone and I mean ANYONE! ever talk about it at all! Until Saints Row 3. Well, apart from the community of course.
@Adrian Scott I honestly felt like the majority of the sr2 players were returning players. Not that I'm not standing corrected, it was actually popular. But only for a bit. Sr3 had the spotlight for a couple of years!
@Adrian Scott couldn't agree more man. I really thought sr2 was left in the Dust along with sr1. You brought me some hope dude! And yes, you're right! Whenever people talk about sr3 or sr4, sr2 would often get brought up and sometimes sr1 as well. And you said it yourself. It was hyped and popularized by the good advantages it had against GTA IV like Co_op, female protagonist and being the opposite of GTA IV. And I failed to realize all of these things somehow😂 Though I really hope one day volition would make remastered versions of both sr1 and sr2. Most importantly to me is sr1 because I feel like people who never owned an xbox 360 or xbox one should at least experience this masterpiece on pc or the new gen consoles with better gameplay, graphics and frame rate. Both matter to me and getting one of them at least would be cool either way. You made my day with that reply. I appreciate that a lot!
21:35 to your point NPC taxi rides being therapeutic, I know exactly what you mean. as a kid I’d often hail a taxi in GTA IV just to immerse myself in the city and by god it worked.
Recently went back to experience the franchise, in chronological order, to wash the reboot's stink from my nostrils. My God; I forgot how ball-busting the game is at times! Chasing Lopez through the airport while a million LC's bombard me with rockets about sent my Xbox through the window.
I agree about the soundtrack. I loved that it introduced me to a ton of songs & artist I ain't heard before. "Grindin'" and "Overnight Celebrity" were the only songs I already knew. Both were big, on BET in the mid-2000s.
Saints Row being like GTA was why it caught my attention and made me want an Xbox 360, ASAP. As a kid, I loved GTA and embraced games like it such as True Crime, Bully, Mafia, The Getaway, Scarface: The World Is Yours, The Godfather games, and Driver: Parallel Lines. I wouldn't dismiss a game for being similar to another I enjoy. I would've missed out!
I bought an Xbox One S mainly for this game, and man was it worth it, this game is so fun and sometimes super frustrating, but it's now deep in my heart, as one of my favourite games ever, next to SR2
30:01 Stilwater was heavily inspired by Detroit and Chicago, albeit they tweaked it with their own style, but you can still tell that's where they drew the inspiration from. I've lived in metro Detroit my whole life and can tell you it's definitely got the vibe down perfectly. Even the radio stations are parodies of radio stations in Detroit - 95.4 KRyhme, the rap station, is based on the real world 95.5, 89 Generation X, the alternative rock station, is based on the now defunct 89x, The Krunch 106.6, the rock/metal station, is based on 101.1 The Wriff, etc. You can search it up and see the devs talk about it. Great video by the way, haven't finished watching yet but love everything about it so far. Quality content! The first Saints Row is honestly my favorite in the series when it comes to the story, I think it's much more grounded and flows a lot better than any of the other games.
Maybe it's an oversight by Volition but in my home town there used to be a record store and when CDs and MP3 players became a thing, they had a machine that let you rip your cds and download the music on your mp3 player if you didn't have access to a computer.
Got some great memories of SR1 & SR2. Recently replayed them all except SR1 since it ain't on PS+ I remember the Vice Kings, Los Carnales & Westside Rollerz. The unofficial sequel to San Andreas IMO.
I absolutely loved SR4 super powers, I wish I could bring them in SR1 and 2. You know what, I think SR4 would have had a better reception overall if they had allowed full access to an inhabited Stillwater and gave up on that ugly sky texture. Wouldn't have completely fixed the game but, as I said, I think it would have made it a lot more appreciated.
The original Saints row is still my favorite one, shame it gets overshadowed by SR2 , I imagine because it wasn't a console exclusive. SR2 did some things better but the original had the best balance of goofiness and taking itself seriously.
The first one was the best one! It was inspired by GTA but could do more at the time. Even the side missions and bounty missions it was ahead of its time you could even smoke blunts and get high lol gta wasn’t on that yet. Only thing it was missing was the main character couldn’t talk he spoke once at the very end.
Great video as always. Although there is no autosaving, you can save any time from the main menu without having to go to a crib/save point, so I can let that slide.
Fun story : I started playing saints row 2 and when I wanted to play 1 but it was xbox 360 only so I bought the disc for later when I got the xbox one for free on tekken 7 tournament so 2017 I played 1 and I loved it
it's funny how IGN was ready to bury Volition out of the agte and yet they bothered to give that awful monstrosity of which i will not bother to even *name* a 6/10.
Imagine playing a game, loving every bit of it, then seeing that another game has come out that people are calling a clone of the previous fun game and not saying to yourself “AWESOME! MORE OF WHAT I LOVE!”
I started with the Original Saints Row, played 3, 4 and Gat out of hell, eventually found my way to Saints Row 2, honestly 1 & 2 are way more enjoyable than 3 and 4, something about the old school gang and story of the 3rd street saints is fucking awesome
Legit got an Xbox 360 on the cheap so I could play the original Saints Row, and got another several games for it. Best choice ever. Recently bagged the original (and the best) Assassin's Creed games for barely anything. Love this game despite some of it's flaws. Watching the Saints start out and properly expand to claim Stilwater as their own is really something, meeting the real people who are making it happen really fleshes out the gang and makes you care for them.
True like for example if you made a M rated game today like Manhunt then it would get cancelled as fast as possible when it’s literally supposed to be M rated
I started with SR2 and after a couple years of searching, I had finally found a copy of Saint's Row. It was probably one of the best purchases I have ever made.
It really was amazing. Im not a fan of GTA, despite its fantastic storytelling. SR1 Was for sure well written, but a more comical approach to psychopath rpg’s. Its art was well executed and some of the best experiences I’ve ever experienced were had in its unique and well implemented game modes. Protect Tha Pimp, was one of the best game modes I’ve ever played. Blinged out ride was a blast, I loved hiding throughout the city, protecting your car, and I vivdly recall having epic fights in the parking garage. The game mechanics were insanely fun for single player. I burned a lot of time in its world and very much enjoyed its retro comical depiction of thuggery and vice. Wont be seeing anything like it again, most likely. For me its like oblivion or dead rising, a classic gem from a classic time, with a classic feel we wont be getting from this industry again. The games true colors shined, when you spent time. I recall not liking the frustrating aspects of the hitman missions, but I think the point was to get you to stop, keep your eye out and explore.
Started with SR2. After being a long time fan and finally getting my hands on the original game. I'm currently playing SR1 and there is something just so magical about playing this game. I just wish SR2 had the same visuals as the original. It would be the perfect sequel.
I didn't know about the suicide lady, but it's definitely an Easter egg. There's an old bald white guy on the cliff behind the rollerz mansion who does it. Idk when he spawns but you can consistently find him there and he leaps to his death when approached as well.
28:54 I dunno, seems like a rational toss-up to me. Just spent 10 hours, albeit non-consecutively, on that hitman activity, and I could guess I'd get the same feeling playing SR 2022. But the rewards, on the other hand... golden-gun pistol, double-damage smg, and a heavy-kicking shotgun, plus that rocket launcher when you complete all three activities (and a discount at FF, I guess). I don't think you'd get that sort of thing in the reboot, so the OG wins the toss-up.
You are an absolute fucking legend lad. These videos keep getting better and I hope you've introduced that jacket into your everyday wear rotation because God knows, I would. I'm glad to know it wasn't just the rose tinted glasses but instead SR was just a great game. I hope you've got plans to cover SR2 in this format too because, christ it, what a bastarding fantastic game.

since they either lost or corrupted the source code for first 2 games,
which is presumably why we dont see remasters of these games.
They actually found the source code for 2 and had a guy working on making a free update that fixes stuff and adds the DLC to the PC version of the game, but he died from cancer last month and we don't know if they'll finish his work yet.

1 and 2 have something the other games don't have: Replayability

I bought my own copy shortly afterwards, and have never regretted it.
you gotta cover saints row 2 after this

In my opinion saints row 1 just felt so good to play the storyline was just mint customisation was pretty good for the time and just going from nobody on a street corner to clearing the streets up
i keep on coming back to this video and i cannot begin to thank you enough!
And I failed to realize all of these things somehow😂
Though I really hope one day volition would make remastered versions of both sr1 and sr2.

Beautiful video! A proper tribute to a legendary game. I don't know if there will ever be another like it, besides 2.

Please watch this video for me and let’s all come up with a solution ua-cam.com/video/KDDQQ41wEs8/v-deo.html
At this point i don't mind to do a spiritual successor of Saints Row. I would love return to experience well written storytelling.
Phenomenal review chief, definitely going to keep tabs
Maybe it's an oversight by Volition but in my home town there used to be a record store and when CDs and MP3 players became a thing, they had a machine that let you rip your cds and download the music on your mp3 player if you didn't have access to a computer.
Got some great memories of SR1 & SR2. Recently replayed them all except SR1 since it ain't on PS+
I remember the Vice Kings, Los Carnales & Westside Rollerz. The unofficial sequel to San Andreas IMO.
Never finished SR1, the game was so much fun at the time I could just run around the city, with cheats for hours, SR1 will always be in my heart.
22:15 this is how every REAL saints row fan looks like, untamed, long damaged greasy hair, crooked teeth, and looks like they haven't slept for days.

Now I can't stop listening to Local H's song "Bound for the Floor"
Legit got an Xbox 360 on the cheap so I could play the original Saints Row, and got another several games for it. Best choice ever. Recently bagged the original (and the best) Assassin's Creed games for barely anything. Love this game despite some of it's flaws.
Watching the Saints start out and properly expand to claim Stilwater as their own is really something, meeting the real people who are making it happen really fleshes out the gang and makes you care for them.
They don't make games like SR1 and 2, hell even 3 and 4 anymore. Even an 'M' rated game has to be 'safe' and 'clean' nowadays.
True like for example if you made a M rated game today like Manhunt then it would get cancelled as fast as possible when it’s literally supposed to be M rated
Congratulations on 100% Completion just purchased this in 2023 very informative video thank you💯
44:00 the woman jumping in the water is an Easter egg of people committing suicide. It's a random ped and it happens in the suburbs district too.
THE SHEET ZOO IS AT 38:47!!
That was 1 hell of a video, great presentation, an accurate representation that us SR Og's greatly appreciate.💪
I started with SR2 and after a couple years of searching, I had finally found a copy of Saint's Row. It was probably one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Saints row 1 holds a special place in my heart being the first game I got for my 360 back in the day
a true comedy is to be underrated, know you're underrated, people say you're underrated, and yet, forever continue to be underrated.
If you take a look of the gun shaped city of saints row cover, that should tell you how ground breaking this game was.
The fact that I played the first Saints Row back in 2010 for the first time I'm glad I have your respect
greetings from south australia. what a Great review dude. brings back lots of memories. Saints Row 1 is definitely worth a play/replay.
Started with SR2. After being a long time fan and finally getting my hands on the original game. I'm currently playing SR1 and there is something just so magical about playing this game. I just wish SR2 had the same visuals as the original. It would be the perfect sequel.
Metal and classical music for the win. That being said, Volition had one good metal song in it. Bound to the Floor by Local H.
I can clearly see you have a great and funny personality and thank you for another fantastic video! ✌😁✌❤🌎❤
I absolutely love the first saints row. I remember back in the day playing on my 360 now I still play it sometimes on my series S.
Sr1 is a classic
I don't think you'd get that sort of thing in the reboot, so the OG wins the toss-up.
liberty city stories got released in 2005 and vice city stories in 2006
You are an absolute fucking legend lad.
