LFR family what you need to realize is that the lead singer/rhythm guitarist Dave Grohl is a living legend. He was the drummer for the ultra famous grunge band Nirvana. After Kurt Cobain died (RIP) he threw himself into writing and came out with a small album where he played every instrument. And he wanted it to seem like it was group of guys so he called it Foo Fighters. Now many many years later he has recorded 9 studio albums, and sold well over 12,000,000 of them, and has collabed with countless other legends. (Paul McCartney, the remaining members of Led Zeppelin, Jack Black with his band Tenacious D, and started two super groups with other famous rockstars). I have always said he has the "Midas touch" as everything he does turns to gold, and you can plainly see that from his success. And on top of all that, one of his nicknames is the "nicest guy in rock", he is genuinely an amazing musician, father, and role model. I have been playing the drums for about 13 years now and he will forever be my idle and inspiration.

Well said!!! My favorite band.... partially because Dave Grohl is just freaking AWESOME at everything. When a rocker has a good soul... is there anything better? I got to see them in 2017... paid way more than I ever have to go to a concert...but I wanted to be near the front... and OMG best money I've ever spent. They ROCK!

He paused in the middle of the song and told Taylor, the drummer, that he was about to cry. Taylor said, it's alright man. This was, at the time, the pinnacle of his and their career. He was overwhelmed with emotion.

Dave Grohl has a quote that says something like this: you can sing a song to 85,000 people and they will sing it back to you for 85,000 different reasons. He is known as the "nice guy of rock"
Also, he broke his leg in a show falling off the stage. He finished the show and had a throne made so he could finish the tour. It is on UA-cam if you look..

So Dave Grohl breaks his leg during a concert, finishes the concert, then creates a "Throne" to sit on so he did not have to cancel any concerts. He is a great showman. Watch some clips where he brings fans on stage to play or sing with them. Love this band.

Dave was emotional & blown away by the whole thing, at that stage. ya can't fake that shiz. to date, at this time in 2008, this was the most honoured they felt, being asked to play THE famous Wembley Stadium in UK. it was a HUGE deal for them! they were so excited, elated & stoked that they didn't remember alot of it, afterwards LOL they knew they'd reached a supremely magical point in their bands career, so wanted to document it properly, which went out on DVD. they also couldn't believe they'd sold out in a matter of minutes. humble dudes at heart, & a concert of theirs is one you just don't forget! you should watch Carpool Karaoke with them & James Corden on yt. It's really great :-)

I was there! I was in that video in the crowd! This was the last song of the night, 3 hours of partying hard! Up to this point the Foo's had done so much, Dave Grohl had done so much, Whilst they were in the studio recording the album for this tour the manager walked in and said so whats next for the Foo Fighters?? Wembley Stadium was mentioned and Dave said man that place is huge how are we going to fill that place?? They went with it and 3 hours after the tickets went on sale to their astonishment they were told they had sold out! It was a momentous occasion a mile stone in their career! Wembley Stadium is Englands national Football(soccer) stadium in London. 86,000 seater, The UK loves the Foo Fighters, having been there on that night I can tell you it was incredible! The best night of my life!

This was one of those gigs where I am truly grateful I can say.......I was there. I'd seen them before and I've seen them since but this was the most emotionally charged gig I've ever been to. I remember him breaking down and crying. I remember his words. "How did this fucking band get this fucking big?" And it was a genuine question, he was truly blown away by the love the crowd showed him and how successful they had become . Dave has always held the UK crowds in high esteem and it was only fitting that this was the biggest gig they'd ever played at the time.

A great Foo Fighters song to react to would be The Pretender. To me this song embraces the spirit of rising against adversity to become the best you that you can whether the obstacles be love, a person, etc. It's meant to be a motivational song that allows everyone to embrace their dreams for just a moment.

  • @amelirachelmcqueen
    @amelirachelmcqueen 3 роки тому +10

Love this reaction!! Dave Grohl gives 10000%. This is normally the song they end the show with.... and you can tell his voice has had it - yet he gives the crowd what they came for! I loved when he didn't do the "ooohhhh... ooohhhhhh.... ooohhhhh.... oooohhhh" and the crowd sung it. The energy at a Foo Fighters show is unexplainable.

It's so true - I've been a fan for over 20 years and see them every single time I can because of the energy at their shows - I'm especially lucky that I have seen them play Chicago so many times because Dave credits his cousin from Chicago with taking him to his first punk show and changing his life. Lollapalooza in the pouring rain was a fantastic show, and so was Wrigley in 2015. Last time they were in town (also at Wrigley) I was broke AF and couldn't get a ticket. So I, along with about 200 people, hung out just outside the stadium for the whole show just to hear it. Highly recommend seeing them to anyone who hasn't.

The singer is Dave Grohl, formerly drummer of Nirvana.. and with Foo Fighters he‘d start a new thing and it became one of the biggest rock group of the last decade. Dave is simply a genius!! Check out ‚my hero‘. Its an older one, but i just love it, cause for me its about Nirvana Singer Kurt Cobain who died in 1994. Dave said its not about him... but as the biggest Nirvana Fan on earth, i imagine it is about Kurt! ua-cam.com/video/rhAUTOBBfm8/v-deo.html

In 1991 I think, I saw an interview of Nirvana. I heard a very young David Grohl. He was so pretentious and full of himself. I remember thinking he needs a punch to the face. I was young, he was young. I couldn't stand him. Flash to 8 years later and he is writing songs and expressing himself in such an elegant way. It has actually made me cry.

So, regarding context, I don't know if what I am about to say is at all true for Dave Grohl, but when I listen to the lyrics, I hear overtones that speak to the idea of deep soul struggle; of giving up vs continuing the fight. Lyrics like "I needed somewhere to hang my head, without your noose, You gave me something that I didn't have, but had no use, I was to weak to give in, too strong to lose, My heart is under arrest again, but I break loose, My head is giving me life or death, but I can't choose, I swear I'll never give in, I refuse". These are human lyrics that resound with the struggle so many of us go through everyday in so many ways. More than that, they could be taken as someone in the midst of contemplating suicide, given the overtones of choice between life and death. Grohl lost a band mate to suicide very publicly. If this song is in any way a manner of dealing with some of the questions he has as a result of that, or a way of supporting those who may be contemplating suicide, the rawness of emotions you saw would make a lot of sense. Again, I don't know if this thought is in any way true of what Grohl was feeling in the moment, but the rawness struck me as personal, as you observed in the video. Lastly, if anyone out there is contemplating suicide, please reach out to your local crisis line.

I was there at Wembley stadium in 2008 (Saturday night, I think but can't actually remember, it was either the 6th or 7th June), anyway I have seen Foo Fighters 3 times and that one at Wembley was my first time I had seen them play live and the second time was at Milton Keynes bowl when he was recovering from his broken leg and had to sit in his own throne but still came out onto the stage a legend and the third and most recent time, my wife and I (a present from her) saw them play at the London stadium in Stratford in June 2018, so, pretty much 10 years after the first time I saw them live but the first one at Wembley just blew my mind away, from the moment they came up through the stage and started with The Pretender and Dave Grohl walking up and down that aisle/runway/catwalk whatever you want to call it to the very last song and the fireworks at the end, it will forever be in my memories.
The other 2 concerts were amazing and will always be in my memories too but for me, the Wembley concert is number one, then the London stadium concert (plus the fact it's the new home of my club West Ham haha..) and then the one in Milton Keynes in that order.

Lots of details added below already but possibly a few bits extra. This was one of 2 nights at Wembley Stadium (I was at both nights), the first time they had ever headlined a Stadium show and their largest crowd for their own gig in their careers to date. In interviews before the show Dave Grohl had said the Foos "were never meant to get this big". The emotion just overwhelmed Dave Grohl in this song.
They had played Live 8 (charity gig with Metallica, Pussycat Dolls and Madonna) a year or two before at Wembley Stadium and had joked that the next time they came to the UK they would come back and headline this stadium... and they did!
If I could recommend an interesting band to check out try Rammstein - Du Hast (live at Download). They only sing in German but are huge all over the world. Their official videos seem to get blocked for most reactors so ideally find the live stuff (not from their DVDs), which is great as the stage show is immense.

I kind of think this song was right after he and Taylor (drummer) did 2 songs with John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Dream come true. He and the drummer are best friends - like brothers. When the drummer OD’d early on in his career, Dave spent every day in the hospital by his bedside until he woke from his coma. They were playing the biggest venue they could be and the sheer scale of it overwhelmed him.

To me, Foo Fighters are the top of rock. Some will argue that, which is all in their right. Dave, being so disenfranchised with music after Nirvana. Just couldn't play it anymore. Then , while traveling in Europe or Asia. He saw a young kid wearing a Nirvana shirt. Seeing that the music he helped create could reach that far. It rekindled his spark. He's very often said that he doesn't make records to make money. He does it because he loves music. Foo Fighters does not put out bad music. I would even argue that Everlong is one of the best songs ever written and composed.
Not for a reaction. If you have HBO Max. Look up Sonic Highways. Watch as they learn the history of a city and write a song based on it all. It was a beautiful concept album that they give you the backstory for on every episode. Then, play the song at the end.

To understand this song and this concert you should see the video "Foo fighters - About Wembley" here on UA-cam. It's their real breakthrough. They wanted to make sure they gave i 110%.

If you sold out Wembley like they did 2x back to back, that is selling out the mecca of concert venues to put it into perspective. That is the place where Queen did their historical concert, which was also shown in the movie.

One thing that might explain the sheer size of the audience here is how famous and beloved Foo Fighters are here in the UK. From what I hear, in the US they're no bigger than any other mainstream rock band. Over here, on the other hand, they're essentially rock gods. Ask any Brit what the biggest modern rock band is and they'll more likely than not answer Foo Fighters. They're a staple in any major music festival over here, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who didn't grow up listening to at least a couple of their songs and couldn't sing along to Best Of You and My Hero!

I saw them play in Madison Square Garden and they did this song. We were doing the vocalizations and Dave says, "One more time." We do the vocalizations again and Dave stops the whole band and says, "What the fuck are you guys doing? I wanna finish the fucking song." And then we did the final chorus together and it was awesome.

Thanks for reacting to this song. I have become such a fan of the Foo Fighters for so many songs in their catalogue. Going to see them in July in NYC. Dave Grohl is a fan as much as a musician and he was overwhelmed with emotion knowing he was standing in the same place that his music idols stood.
I recommend you watch the Foo Fighters whole show for the last episode of David Letterman. One of my FAVORITE songs from that set is STACKED ACTORS... go check THAT song out👍🏾👍🏾💗

I don’t know how old this video is but I’m writing anyways. The lyrics are about being taken advantage of, whether it be political or personal. The Best of you should be for you, your dreams, your goals, whatever you desire. Don’t let somebody else get the best of you.
Nia...I have no idea how to spell her name but she’s gorgeous and I love the family atmosphere of the videos. Family is everything...praying for and with y’all.

My favorite Foo Fighter moment was when during one of his shows this dude was starting a fight and causing trouble and Dave Grohl stopped everything pointed him out and had security remove him. Saying "That's not allowed at a Foo Fighter show. The the fuck out of here!" 🤣🤣🤣
