Can confirm. I've done this a handful of times during karaoke sessions and it beats the hell out of your voice. The amount of gut you have to put in to sing like that is exhausting!
If this song doesn't hit you in some kind of way, check your pulse. For me, this song saying "Is someone getting the best of you?" is asking you the question of whether you're being your best person, and whether you're giving that to the people you love. We should all try to strive to be the best version of ourselves. It's just really hard sometimes.
Except he meant it as … are they getting the best of you, as in taking advantage of you? That’s why one of the first lines is about breaking the chains holding you. And then he goes on with an example of him resting his head in someone’s noose. It’s about breaking free, not giving up, moving on, and finding yourself again.
I love the fact that even though this came out 15 years ago and it got played to DEATH on radio - you can come back to this after a while and still feel the immense power in it. I saw the Fooeys on this album tour cycle in 2005 and they were ON IT! Relentless
The Foos have at least one monster track per album. Lots of material to check out if you want to dive deeper...Everlong, Pretender, Times Like These, My Hero, Learning To Fly, Monkey Wrench, Run, Big Me, This Is A Call, I'll Stick Around, The Sky Is A Neighborhood, and so much more.
Man, you are good at your job. So many see "the best of you" as solely victim-focused. Are you being abused? It is also a critique of self - are you giving your best into this situation? Are you holding back thru fear or whatever? Love this song dearly.
The last time I saw the Foos the crowd (about 60,000) were all chanting that "oooh oh oh" section as they left the stadium AFTER the gig! Also, just FYI, Dave often puts a quiet/loud section in his songs - he got that from Kurt Cobain (Dave was the drummer for Nirvana, in case anyone didn't know) who loved to do it too. But Kurt got the idea from The Pixies who used to do it before that.
The Foo Fighters are incredible. I've been to many concerts ranging from Allan Jackson to Dir en Grey and my favorite show BY FAR was the time I saw The Foo Fighters. From beginning to end Dave and the rest of the band really give it their all. And dude, you don't need sexy legs with arms like yours. Juuuuuuuuuust sayin. lol
Here’s the thing about the Foo Fighters they are one of the greatest bands ever! David Grohl is a fucking genius! Periodt! If you don’t like the Foo Fighters then there’s something wrong with you

I love this song so much!! I remember when it first aired on Mtv the making of
You know a song is amazing when Prince covers it during the Super Bowl.
One of my favorite bands courtesy of Prince. Saw them at work last year and cried a little...

Love this song dearly.
It can be viewed from two sides. I think it was written that way intentionally.
A Foo concert is this for about 3 hours, with Dave running back and forth non stop while chewing bubble gum.
and usually a few bonus song covers and LOTS of audience interaction - including giving away his guitar
If you wanna know, the vocalist is the drummer for the band Nirvana.

Dave Grohl has more than proved himself beyond the drummer form Nirvana

I think your right both ways. Are you giving your best and also is someone getting the best of you.
Bit of info. Prince covered this on his superbowl performance. Incredible.
Not sure which way to interpret the title, but what I do know is that it gets me fired up ! Let’s go
