I spent my teens and twenties missing iconic shows by amazing bands, but I am so thankful that I made it to this Wembley show (I think there were actually 2 nights). I’d only just got into Foo Fighters in the previous year or too and had no sense of how popular they were in the UK. The energy and the connection between Dave/the band and the crowd was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I was lucky enough to be at that gig. That song was amazing and still gives me goosebumps listening back now. Great review as always! I love your insights in to the method behind the music.
The whole Live at Wembley concert was my how-to perform live textbook if you will. Dave really knows how to fill a stage and get 20,000+ people to groove and dance.
I always thought this was him doing the acoustic arrangement of Everlong on electric. Sounds so good and really fun to play along to their Wembley show! Thanks Michael, GREAT video choice today and wonderful reaction as always!
Wooo... didnt think a song ive heard so many times could give me the chills so many times... Dave Grohl is so awesome. And I'm super appreciative of this breakdown. Still trying to learn theory and why it matters and you do a good job of connecting emotion to theory.
one thing I found super interesting is how grohl's described his chord playing as being like he's drumming them, with the low E as the bass kick and the other strings as melody laid over the top of it in whatever stroke motion he's doing
Love your connection to the flow of this performance. Definitely anthem - y -- I’m not a tech musician but I hear it. I’m a touring drummer and very frustrated guitar player. But for some reason Foo Fighters songs are easier for me to play. I can see how Dave’s approach to writing riffs comes from a drummer’s perspective. Lot’s of 1/8th notes and it’s like he’s playing kick, snare and hat with a riff.

Lyrics :
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this…
