  • After eating mostly plant-based for about 8 years, as well as being gluten-free and dairy-free for over 10, things have changed. Sharing how I started eating gluten and dairy again, as well as why I decided to add more animal proteins back into my diet.
REMEMBER: this is a personal choice for me and my body. You can agree or disagree with this decision, but it's one that I made for myself, so there's no need to judgement, anger or disrespect ❤️

I had the same experience with dairy; after cutting out dairy for 5-6 years, I can handle it fine now and don't have any of the symptoms I did before 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don't think I could ever eat meat again, but I respect your choice; I'm glad that you're feeling good and happy ❤️

You did with gluten what I did with eggs. I was allergic to eggs all my life. Then I spoke with my doctor about trying them to see if I was still allergic and low and behold...I was no longer allergic. I love you girl. Your conversations are always awesome. You have helped me so much, Alyssa. Thanks for sharing.

I was plant based vegan for 4 years but was very anemic and lost my period. I spent so much money on supplements that didn't work. I slowly transitioned from vegan to vegetarian and then started eating chicken and fish. Now I eat everything in moderation and got my period back and my hair stopped falling out :) I feel a lot more energy and less migraines too :)

Of course your diet your choice, always! Unless you decide give lessons to others, which you are not doing. My personal humble experience is that i was years thinking that plant based or vegetarian was the key. But discovered now, based on those science papers shared in the 'Physicians committee Exam Room' that the key is Whole Foods, not just plant based. Ultra processed foods, sugars and saturated fats out. Ultra processed foots, even if vegan, are not ok for your body. And, matters what you bring in: whole foods, grains, legumes whole flours, tofu, nuts and seeds, and lots of veggies and fruits as well. All of these every day/week makes the most balanced diet; supported by millions of scientific articles not just a few. This podcast is run but very well known doctors; many of them also professors in prestigious universities that publish in prestigious peer reviewed journals....it as my eye opener. May be of value for of you guys...enjoy eating healthy; but check what healthy is supported by the medical community on this new exiting field of 'WFPB'(Whole Food Plant Based--> if you type this before the name of a recipe, the delicious creative healthy options will blow your mind :)

@@RoxinaSolerGamborena I was actually whole foods plant based vegan. Like I ate as clean as you got. I only ate vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and legumes. I cooked everything at home because I was afraid of not being in control of what they were putting in my food. I never ate any processed, sugar, ready-to eat food. Everything was homemade and whole -- the healthiest you can imagine. To a point looking back I was probably orthorexic because of my fear of eating anything unhealthy or processed. I worked out every single day at 4am before work. I spent hundreds if not thousands on superfoods and supplements. My body was telling me otherwise. So yes, I did everything you said.

I feel your words and think it is a great decision for you. Sometimes I feel like eating egg (vegan for 8 years now) but then I remember what needs to happen for an egg to be on my plate and I just can't. Like yes my health is important and my blood work could be better but those baby chickens need to die for that! How could I possibly just overlook that for my own sake? Of course there would be less stress in social situations or less discussions or more freedom when I'm out. That really is the downfall to veganism. @@mic9965 No that is not about how they care for the animals it is about how baby chickens even in that farms have to die if you can't use them as egg producing chickens. Believe me we have better farms when it comes to taking care of the animals than in the US (living in Switzerland). It is the fact that you can't predict what sex comes out of an egg and you can't use the male chickens on an egg producing farm so the male eventually gets killed somewhere other than this farm and this is the problem with even the best farm. The only way would be if they keep all of their animals that are born for ever and don't produce eggs so they always just have a little amount of eggs and no one gets killed. That you only find with private people and not farmers who need to live from their produce.

After being plant-based for 9 years, in 2021 I started eating fish and in 2022, after a year of craving chicken, I decided my body was telling me something. In fact, due to health issues, I need to look at sporadically doing keto (my doctor endorsed!) and I personally can’t see achieving that without animal products. So I’ve been easing back into it. It’s so key to do what your health dictates. I have compassion for animals, too, so I do my best with the income I have and choices I can make to be as conscious as possible. This is interesting because I'm new to your videos and I realize now that the reason you were vegan was because of your health. If it were not for that e.g your dairy intolerance, you would not have changed your diet. I am vegan because I don't want to participate in the suffering of animals before they die (or, in the case of dairy and eggs, they way they are treated when producing.) It is absolutely heart-breaking and horrendous. I'd kind of known about it for awhile - I'd seen photos like most of us, and just turned away - but I read part of a book about factory farming because a friend's husband had written it and that was it for me. At first I thought I would just buy meat or eggs/dairy from farms where I knew they were humanely treated. I then realized it would be virtually impossible to determine that when eating out, difficult to find and expensive. So I just decided to become a vegetarian. It's been about 15 years, I've never missed it and in fact the thought of eating flesh grosses me out now. I am 61 and extremely healthy with great energy (I walk 10 miles a day in my job and take dance classes twice a week.) I wasn't vegan for quite a while - I didn't know how animals are treated in factory farming with regard to dairy and eggs. I had the idea that vegans were sort of extreme. But when I found out what happens to animals in those food industries, I had to give it up. And again, I've never, ever missed it. There's nothing extreme about it, it's very easy to do and again, I am very healthy. (I don't even like the taste of milk anymore - it seems really heavy and thick and, like meat, now kind of grosses me out!) I guess it is disappointing to me that animal suffering had not even a tiny bit to do with your decision to go vegan. It bothers me that you would have an entire video basically encouraging people to go back to meat and dairy products. If people don't need to, why would you encourage them to when it means being complicit in the suffering of animals? (And to anyone reading this who thinks it's stupid - I challenge you to do some research and find out how these animals live and are treated and get back to me. I also ask - what's stupid about being kind?) I understand you wanted to increase your chances of getting pregnant, but it doesn't seem like you had any issues. Not everyone gets pregnant instantly. Six months is pretty quick. And I don't know what "experts" you spoke to, but I highly doubt that eating animal products improves egg quality. A healthy diet does. It bothers me that you are encouraging women to eat meat and dairy for something that is not necessarily true. I would like to also say that personally I don't mind enduring a bit of inconvenience in social situations because I am vegan - I feel it's a small sacrifice to make for not participating in the suffering of animals. Anyhow - why does it have to be all one way or another? You could still eat/drink animal products in certain situations without giving up being vegan or vegetarian altogether. We all do what we are able, there's no rule that says it has to be all or nothing. In any case, it's your decision and we all do what is best for ourselves, but it does bother me nonetheless that you are so cavalier about returning to animal products without considering the other reasons for not doing so. It doesn't seem to have entered your head at all.

Wishing you and yours best wishes and very excited for you during this pregnancy. ☮️

I switched back from vegan to intuitive eating after i had brocken my spine on three spots and was at Rehabilitation clinic... they didnt serve vegan food.... turned out i feel better since then.... i do believe that everybody has his own diet for feeling well and should follow it.... best wishes for your 3rd trimester. I went vegetarian years but stopped bc I lost too much weight and became anemic...
Now, I'm plant based & gluten-free (due to IBS-C) & eat fish or chicken no more than 2× in a week.

Just found your channel. I am not vegan because J never feel well eating that way but I am gluten free. I find that our bodies change. What works at one stage may not work at another. At 71 I cannot eat the way I did at even 50. Frankly it is hard to really tune in to your body because there are so many conflicting messages. And different people need different things at different stages of life. By now you may have had your baby, or are really close. Good luck!!

Please, do get informed before correlating lactose in cheese with its negative impact on health. Leaving out totally also the impact that growing cows has on the environment. And the cruelty animals are exposed to. By the way, do be aware cows are constantly pregnant so they can produce milk. And as a consequence, all the hormones in their milk is hyper concentrated in cheese. Not talking about the fat content of cheese...if interested in learning facts, based on science, type 'Physicians committee, the exam room, and cheese: best science based podcast on the benefits of Whole Foods Plant Based and the impact of animal products on human health...

I was vegan for 7 years and just went pescatarian a few months ago just because the world is going to crap and I wanted to go out eating the foods I liked (mainly shrimp, sushi with crab and shrimp, regular eggs, hard boiled eggs, and cottage cheese, lol). It has literally been so freeing to eat other foods after being vegan for 7 YEARS. I started developing a bad lazy vegan habit of eating gardein, beyond meat, and other products and they contained a lot of sodium and I didn't realize I was putting so much sodium into my body. I was still eating salad and fruits but with the mock meats mixed in. I've lost so much weight after changing my diet and reducing the amount of sodium in my diet and my diet is much more healthier because i'm eating all of the foods that I actually like eating in moderation. I still don't drink cows milk and never will and I still dont eat chicken, steak, pork, or fish. The only meat i'm eating is shrimp. The eggs I eat aren't fertilized eggs either which is nice, lol.

I'm sorry that veganism didn't work out for you. I've been vegan for 18 years and it was the best decision of my life. Going vegan cured all my health problems. It cured my depression, anxiety, sleep problems and anemia. I have so much more energy. On the flip side I have met people who have destroyed their health on a vegan diet. Mainly because they eat a lot of processed food and not nearly enough vegetables or theyre not taking a b 12 supplement. I respect everyone's food choices and don't judge other people for eating animal products.
