Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 тра 2024
- In this intermediate lead guitar lesson I will show you how the pros use double stops in their guitar playing. So many of our guitar hero's use double stops in their blues rock lead guitar solo's!!! We will be using a double stop shape that is movable and very useful! Here is a link for this addictive awesome backing track • Hard Rock Blues in A -... . These double stops really rock! This approach can really take you away from the first position of the minor Pentatonic scale. These double stops are simple so we can put them into our lead Guitar improvising today. This is such a fun way to play the guitar! These double stops will fill in between the blues rock licks that you already know. This is a intermediate guitar lesson but a beginner will certainly be able to start using these double stops. And you will be able to take your guitar playing into some advanced levels with these double stops.

Great lesson Rusty. Works well in A or G but how about E when the first position pentatonic is either at 12th fret (very high) or open? Any thoughts how best to approach these double stop ideas in E? Thanks.
Hey Mark, this works very well in the open E position. Hit the open G and B strings, then hammer on first fret of the G string. Then slide up to 4-3 and 6-5 of the G and B string’s. I use it that way all the time. I hope you have fun with it Mark. Thanks man.😎
@@rustysguitar1 Hi Rusty, with the open E position, i was thinking more like the slide from 2-1 to 4-3 (G & B strings) to get the feel of the Amin to Bmin chords which implies the Emin Key.
I think the 4-3 and 5-6 also works as you are getting the feel of Bmin to C#min which implies the Emaj key because the 5th of the chord which is B can be either major or minor.
@@rajeshgumber363 we are talking E major. E-A-B major chords. 1-4-5 progression. Thanks
@@rustysguitar1 Thanks Rusty , could I ask what chords are being implied with the slide from 4-3 to 6-5 on G&B strings which you mention? helps me to understand the theory etc. Thanks
@@rajeshgumber363 A good way to think about it is E major to A major. The 4-3 double stop (G and B strings) implies E7 and the 6-5 (G and B strings) implies the A chord. And then 8-7 (G and B strings) implies the B chord. I will definitely expand on this topic in some upcoming videos. Thanks guys.👍
Mr. Rusty, I notice a book laying there on the table behind you and I believe its placement is no accident. Warms my heart! Love your lessons and your humble approach to teaching guitar.
I do read the Bible every day in my studio. So I leave it in plain sight. It has prompted many great comments and I’ve had a chance to pray with many of my subscribers. I really do appreciate this comment. Have a great rest of your week and let’s talk soon.🙏
@@rustysguitar1You have made my morning a bit brighter with your prompt reply! I am an old (well, only 50 but I feel old) Gospel singer and a 4 track bedroom recording artist. 10 years ago I was struck with the realization that our hymns are dying and being forgotten. I want to keep them alive, so I sing hymns and old Hank Williams Gospel songs in a way that makes them feel fresh and hopefully engaging to the listener.
Some time ago, my pastor called me out in front of the church and said I should make a CD (he didn't even know that is a lifelong dream for me). 2 years later I am now on my 3rd song of what will hopefully be a 10 song album. Because I am a diehard classic rock fan, I can't resist employing techniques that I hear in the music I grew up loving as I record songs that are most definitely not classic rock. In keeping with the traditions of the Beatles and other such bands of old, I have been timidly leaking out a "single and B side" ahead of the album and have received nothing but positive affirmation so far which I take as a sign that I am on the right path and am greatly encouraged to continue despite the tribulations that have greatly increased since I started. As long as the product is finished and delivered to my small church and whoever else wants it, I don't care if it kills me.
Keep doing what you're doing. I've been wanting to learn more about double stops for years and this video is a Godsend!
I was guessing it was Mel Bay.....

Hi Rusty I like this lesson on double stops and using them in context, A and D which come alive with the stops ,also your attack either plectrum or using your fingers or use both at once ,there.is so much in this lesson to make my own playing more alive, thanks for your time and direction ❤🎉❤😊
Well said Alan! These double stops are all over rock and blues music. I’m glad you got some thing from the lesson! Thanks a lot for the comment and all your support. Talk to you soon.👍
@rustysguitar5143 thanks Rusty 😊
@@alanfisher1524 Thanks Alan! I’m glad you guys engaged with some questions 👍
By the way, Rusty, if you're looking for more lesson ideas, pedal points are quite awesome. They work in any scale and open up totally new sonic landscapes - definitely a way to "break out of the box" or a rut. My favourite way to play them are with scales available on open strings, which helps increase speed/alternate picking chops. (Or of course, just tune a suitable string to the desired note which isn't in standard tuning.) Just a thought.
Many good ideas here! Thanks for the feedback👍
Great lesson! Rusty, you are my favorite UA-cam instructor!
Also, I noticed you have a Bible on your desk. Keep plucking and reading! Love ya man!

That was a lot of fun for me as well. And the backing track that you linked is a Gas. Thanks, that was a lot of very useful information in a short time frame. I'll have to revisit it a few times to pick up the things I missed the first time around. Maybe I'm a little early, but let me wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
