- Try using this lead guitar concept before you choose a scale. Sound more melodic when playing lead guitar. In this intermediate guitar lesson we will use the notes in the chords to create a melodic lead guitar solo. I will teach a simple pattern that is movable for any major or minor chords to play a lead guitar solo. Improvising on guitar just became easier, using this movable chord tone pattern. With this knowledge, the scales that you already know, will make a lot more sense on the fretboard. it’s very easy to visualize these movable, chord tone patterns. Even if you’re just starting to improvise lead guitar, this is a game changing guitar lesson. I really needed this guitar lesson many years ago! Most guitar players live to improvise lead guitar solos. This guitar lesson will bring you more confidence on the guitar fretboard.

This is a good concept! It really helps us visualize the fretboard! Always good to hear from you Dave! Enjoy your Sunday! Thanks 🙏
I've been delving into chord based soloing recently, using only scale notes to connect the different positions on the neck to hit the chord tones I'm targeting. This makes it all seem so obvious and easily understood. Just a fantastic lesson! Rusty, you just keep coming up with great ideas in small bites that we all can put into our playing immediately. Thank you so much!
It sounds like the fretboard is making more sense to you, Doug! I’m always happy to help! Talk to you soon👍
Man, I wish you were my neighbor! LOL@@rustysguitar1
👍
I knew this already, but I forget how beautiful it sounds to play it. I'll have to start using this again
Thanks mate! I’m glad you got something from the lesson!👌
Another helpful lesson. Thanks Rusty, have a great weekend.
Thanks Ray! I hope you have a great weekend also 👌
Rusty reminds me quite a bit of that great Ric Ocasek tune with The Cars...........'You're just what I needed'!! Plain and descriptive instruction.........trumped only by Rusty's great intuitive area of guitar playing we need to get going with our playing! Rusty absolutely cares that we play and sound the best we possibly can and with fun style!! Jim C.
I love that tune! And I appreciate this comment JC!!! Always good to hear from you mate 👍
You are my new favorite guitar teacher! Thanks for the lesson!

Another useful and brilliant lesson, Rusty. It's an amazing thing when I as a guitarist start to see the fretboard in its entirety and I thank you for that. -Dax
I’m glad the lesson was useful! I believe that the better you visualize the fretboard the better guitar player you will be! Thanks Dax for checking out the video 🤛
I made sure I gave you a thumbs up on this lesson because I didn't have time when I saw it and your right Rusty, a game changer my. I taught myself guitar but a few things I never did and that's to memorize the root notes of chords and now I see how important it is. I don't know who taught you but thanks 🙏 for passing it on Rusty. Peace 🕊️ and root notes, lol.
Thanks Douglas! Sounds like you’re really moving forward! Thanks a lot for checking out the lesson. Talk to you soon.👍

Thanks for watching Robert! And you’re welcome 👍
Brilliant, Rusty… love the things you’re doing now about fills between chords, and targeting root notes… much more immediate and easy to grasp (and use straight away) than scales
Cool mate! I’m happy to help 👍
It's pretty amazing how you take things I know, reassess them through your eyes, and I end up getting something new out of it. More simple keyboard mapping courtesy of the "route" note. LOL Thanks, Rust. - Jstn
I get excited when I read comments like this! I’m trying to help players better see the fretboard! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my videos Jstn!!!👌
@@rustysguitar1 I watch nearly every one. I greatly appreciate what you teach and your style of doing it. I suspect many others do, even if they don't comment. (Maybe they're shy. After all, they're guitarists, not drummers. LMAO)

That’s awesome Jason! I thank you for your support 👍
Just found it... This is a game changer! Thanks a million for this cool session 🎸 I'd love to see more of this together with scales and backing tracks to find ideas for soloing with questions and answers. But this session is very, very helpful anyway 👌
I do have other videos that expand on this topic. But definitely more to come! I’m glad you found my channel.👍
Another great lesson glad you have 70K plus subs

Thanks WJ!👌
Your name sure isn't fitting for your guitar skills, Thanks again for sharing your genius guitar knowledge 💯
I appreciate that! Thank you 👍
I have a friend who’s been playing for 13 years. He’s learned some songs but that’s it. I’ve tried to tell him to learn the pentatonic shapes but I think it’s too boring for him. He just doesn’t understand that on the other side of those scales is a whole world of jamming by yourself and making your own music. I sent him some of your videos because he’s threatened to take lessons.
Hey Jill, there’s nothing like improvising! Leaning songs is fun but if you don’t know how those songs are put together, you will progress very slowly! Thanks a lot for your support and enjoy your Sunday 🙏
Have you tried these little shapes over progressions with 7th chords?
Yes! They work very well over dominant seventh chords. Using these movable shapes, and then going back to the minor pentatonic is a bluesy thing to do! Thanks buddy 😎
Great...I'm 666. Somebody hurry up and like this video!!! Lol
Great video!
Yes! Let’s get off that number! I thank you for checking out the video! Later bro 😎
I promise everyone if they practice this type of stuff they will level up in no time. I think the best way to practice is to do it in a musical way. Scales are important, but this type of practice has made me a way better guitarist. It’s an easy way to learn the fret board without it feeling like homework. I learned scales for years but never really knew how to use them until I started learning this type of stuff. I’m a little more advanced in my playing now, but almost every time I noodle (practice) it sounds something like this. It’s been way more useful for me. I like to pick a progression, and play around with ideas just like this. This will just be another I add to my tool box. Anyway, just sending my love 🫶 tnx Rust
I like the way you said it in your comment here! Picking a progression and playing around the chords is a great way to practice the guitar no matter what skill level you’re at. Thanks for leaving a comment and let’s talk soon.👍
