As long as Canon will have their stupid Cinema line active, they will always sabotage the poor “hybrid” shooters (yes, even 5000-6000 is “poor” vs. their cine cameras, which cost like a car…).
Even so, they prefer to charge so much for their wannabe hybrid cameras and stupid big cow lenses.
And that stupid wannabe autofocus which acts like a cheap point and shoot autofocus camera - just watch some of Toneh’s Northrup videos.
Why have we not seen a Canon rp + 16mm 2.8 vlog yet? Get Camera Canada to hook it up!

Bro, I love you (nohomo). Even though you have a funny approach, the information you put out is very true to real life usage. The "why buy a FF body to use an APS-C lens" resonated with me. When I moved from Sony APS-C and went FF everyone praised about how you can use the 10-18 with a bit of crop and zoomed in around 14mm to eliminate the vignetting. But unfortunately the quality is just not there and in terms of photos that 10-18 doesn't have the rendering qualities for an A7RIII for example. Mind you I had a good sample of that lens, no corner softness, very sharp on APS-C but when you get used to good FF glass and you go back you can tell the difference, you don't need to pixel peep, it's just there, you can see it.

I actually found a g85 used and still have enough to get a 45-200 lens used that i just found on market place. You're right, 600 bucks isn't allot to work with but I raise 5 kids by myself and I'm hoping to at least get some decent quality video of our times together. It all worked out.
Remember my dude, the gear doesn't matter at all. It's about the things in front of the camera.
If the $600 budget is just for the camera, then the G85 might be doable. It retails for $695, so you might can find a smaller camera shop that has one and is willing to negotiate. If you can afford it, pair it with the Lumix 14-140mm mk.ii. That lens will do well for interviews and has a little reach for wildlife. It also has dual stabilization and is weather-sealed. If the $600 budget includes the lens also, you could grab a used g85 and a 14-42mm mk.ii. It's a great little kit lens, but it won't be doing you any favors in the wildlife department.

Hey Kasey, loving the new content with the wildlife shots. I have the XT4 (Which I love). You suggested I buy the Olympus... I didn't listen... that's on me.
Question. I have the 16mm 2.8 and the TTartisan 50mm 1.2 (which I'm really enjoying - It is almost magic how bright it is - the first fast lens I've ever owned).
I'm considering a new lens soon. I'd like to buy either the Viltrox 13mm 1.4 (to replace my boring, not quite wide enough, but compact and light 16mm), or get the 70-300mm (for wild-life, UFOs etc), or get a 7artisans 60mm 2.8 macro (for tiny wildlife) AND a cheap fast TT/7artisans 35mm (So I have another focal length for photos).
What do you think I should buy for my bullsh1t content?

I set up a lupe to tilt down over my rear screen, easiest when you tilt the screen horizontal. Then I got the XH-1 and bye bye lupe. Viewfinder, dude. But a fun add on is one of those hot shoe mount russian 4 lens turret viewfinders. They actually work and you just match your lens with one of it's completely clear lenses. Helps to wear a long fake moustache and a huge fur hat. Maybe a goose step and an overcoat.

Catalyst Browse looks like it works well but it would be a game changer if the meta data could import into the leading video editing software and you could run it on your final edited video. Like many other things these companies come out with, it falls short.

Hi. I'm currently invested way too far into my BoujieFilm system to ever justify making a switch even considering my love/hate relationship with it.
I do weddings and puppet videos (very similar to vlogging) and for all intents and purposes, it's good enough. I don't even think I'll seriously look at the xh2 when it comes out, even that trade would be an unjustifiable hit (cracked my xt4 base carrying it around like a lumberjack. Heavy telephoto lens with no tripod mount. -Thanks KEH. It was a good deal though, user error)
My problem is. I still have the GAS. I just like gadgets. But not enough to waste any more large sums of money.

need advise on a Fuji lens, need a low light lens to shoot night shots, toneh range (1-1.4) mainly for neon lights, xmas lights, outdoor light shows, buildings etc. Autofocus, weatherproof preferred, budget less than a 1000. So many new primes within that range, but can't decide on the brand and focal lens need to be somewhat wide enough to shoot building, but also want to be able to shoot inside museums, castles, etc. Currently have the trio toneh 2 weatherproof little lens, and all the toneh 4 zoom lens plus the 70-300. So not enough toneh unless I crank up the iso.
I think you’ll love the new Fuji 18 f1.4. It’s perfectly wide enough for your outdoor needs and is able to focus really close for artistic neon captures. It’s also the sharpest of the new f1.4s and perfect for street photography. Note that for street, you’ll have to get close to your subjects to capture them within a scene.

Hey Casey. I need a system able to get the most amount of light, because I shoot macro outdoors. But I also want it to be compact. Should I go xs-10 and hope for the dynamic range, or should I go full-frame and sacrifice portability for light?
MFT for fast focus bracketing. More light means faster aperture means less dof. If you only want to photograph the front tips of a flower, ok. But if you want to photograph the whole flower and you have to stop down, sensor size has no influence anymore.

Bullshit often is indeed what we prefer and in that spirit, I'd certainly welcome a few rough-cut-only vids and definitely a no-cut. You can dress them up as teaching vids for UA-cam scrubbers while taking back a few hours of your day !

this is not good. secondhand Canon EOS M50 is the best cinematic camera in the market in terms of price/performance ratio.
I know it's just a thumbnail, but Canon is underrated IMO. I'm not endorsing all of the decisions they make, but their entry level and mid-tier cameras are great for talking head videos and live streaming. In my experience, their face and eye tracking is very reliable and the color looks fantastic right out of camera, even better if you tweak the picture profile settings a bit. Yes, most of them can't shoot 4K, but Canon's 1080p is a higher bitrate than Sony's and I wouldn't recommend shooting/editing 4K unless you have a spec'd out computer and the hard drive space to handle it, nor would I recommend live streaming in 4K. I use my 90D into an Elgato Cam Link 4K and record/stream in 1080p using OBS. My shotgun mic is boomed right out of frame and connected to my camera. This means I can bypass the 30 minute recording limit and that I don't need to spend any time transferring files, syncing audio, or color correcting. It's a phenomenal workflow that more people should be taking advantage of.

@@-_--le3zk They are underrated because of their perception within the UA-cam community for being behind in mirrorless technology compared to Sony and not listening to what their customers want. Canon cameras are littered with arbitrary limitations and caveats that they call "segmentation" to protect their more expensive camera lines that don't have those limitations. They are often glossed over and/or made fun of, therefore people think they're "uncool" and don't buy them. All of the cool kids use Sony cameras.
Everything is over rated until you master it, work around its limitations… and let your skill - if you have any; shine.
The A7iv is a great APSC video camera but its also a fantastic full frame stills camera.
The rolling shutter is just disgusting in Full Frame 4K (and to be fair, all the other full frame camera in that price range also suffer from bad rolling shutter) but if you switch to APSC/crop mode, you get rid of all that jelly and you still get a beautiful/sharp 4K video. By the way, you are not limited to 4K60 in crop mode, you can shoot at 4K30 and HD120... but you can't shoot 4K60 in full frame mode, that's the catch.
Sony colors were better than the Arri ones, for me at least.

Canon colour science doesn't mean shit to me, since I chuck my files into LR and they always need correcting all over the place with calibration and HSL. I usually stick to Adobe's profile since it allows more room for movement. It is rare that I accept the colours out of camera in DPP. I mean my monitor isn't even calibrated.

You can do super 35 at any framerate on the 7IV. Matter of fact, you can bind it to a button and switch it even while you're recording =)
It's nice that Sony lets you do that. I still think it's silly to buy a full frame camera to use exclusively in crop mode.

Just for your information, that 70-350 lens has almost full coverage on fullframe frame at the wide end. If the point is to use the more reach for wildlife why would you need to use the full sensor? I see what you mean what's the point of getting a ff body then. But that's the only affordable apsc option available now which gives you animal eye AF in video and 4k 60p at least. It's 1080 120 is also nice and usable. You can add 1.5 clear image zoom for videos and you won't have any problems in reach. For that loser photography part you still have a 105-525mm with 14mp which is quite enough for instagram. For wildlife you won't miss the more Toneh of the ff in apsc as you already know it.

In the DSLR days the best thing Canon had was an entry level camera that took the same EF lenses as their high end cameras. Then you could use the same lenses as you grew into better cameras.
Canon in dumping DSLR also dumps their EF line of lenses. The M50 is their only entry level camera right now and there's no realistic way you can mount the RF lenses of their new "high end" cameras.
I don't think any brand other than Sony with E-mount, does right now either. It's a shame as there's no reason to stick with a brand. You end up spending way more on glass then your camera. It was harder to leave a brand but now unless you're buying a newer model in the same camera, you need all new lenses anyway.
Right now I have a hard time recommending anything other than the Sony ZV-E 10 for beginners. It's not anywhere close to the perfect camera but at least you can progress to better cameras more easily as you grow.
You can get an EF to RF adapter at least. The problem is they have limited options in terms of entry level RF bodies.
Ive seen used RPs for 800 or less. Its not going to knock your socks off but it will best just about anything else for that money.
I am assuming you are talking full frame only?
All 200 lenses in the Micro Four Thirds land fit and work on any camera body from Panasonic G1 and Olympus E-p1.... To today's Gh5ii and OM-1.
I may be incorrect, but the X-mount lenses from fuji will work on any x-mount camera, even a 10 year old one.
In other words, your harp on camera companies only applies to 2 companies actually, Cannon and Nikon. All the other mounts have lenses that will work on cameras produced in the last decade plus.
People over emphasize the importance of "buying into a lens system". Most people just want to by a good lens for their camera and be done with it, they don't care about upgrade paths. IMO, the M50 and Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is hard combo to beat for the price and would make many aspiring content creators very happy. You can always sell them when you're ready to upgrade. The used camera market is a sellers market right now and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
@@joeygwood that setup give you only digital stabilization. Sure its a wide lens so it matters less but I would go that route. An RP with the RF 35mm 1.8 would although pricier a much more capable and versatile setup

Hey Casey, I currently have the fuji x-t3 and X-S10 and am considering trading in and getting the X-T4 (second hand), currently i do hobbiest wildlife (samyang 135mm T2.2 cine lens) video's and on occassion photos but tend to do more street photos ( i know boo hiss to photography), i use the sony ZV1 for vlogging and head shots with controlled lighting, but is 4k 60p with stabe on the X-T4 a worthwhile upgrade within the Fuji system.. or stick with the x-s10 and 1080 120p for any hand held video...but then do i save up some dollars and trade them in for the X-H2s if it's what we hope...I do use the atomos so get 10-bit out on both cameras... Thank you please. :-)

Arri more pleasing in the colours but there definitely seemed to be a bit more noise. You should denoise each frame in GIMP and then send an out-of-phase signal through a Quantel Mirage to clean that up. Should only take you a fortnight.
ARRI colors don't look good here, they're crushing too much of the blacks and making your skin look weird

If you don't compare I wouldn't noticed the difference. But standard was alright. But showing the log footage, it obviously more pro looking. But for vlogging I think standard is good enough.
