Yeah, David is something special. After seeing this, Paul Simon, (the guy who wrote this song) called David and told him that this was the most emotional version he's heard. Now THAT is saying something.

This is a great cover by Disturbed. But you need to check out the official video to get the great visuals, which add more meaning to this song. David Draiman, lead singer, was trained as a Cantor, as most of his family. But he changed courses and went into the Metal Band genre.
The original by Simon and Garfunkel, dang it as a warning. Disturbed showed the anger because people didn't take the warning.

Well said. This version hits hard to me, at 70 years old I’m tired, I’m discouraged, I’m to gentle minded with a soft heart and soul to think that the world will get better or safer so I wish that a ship would come by and take us to a better, softer land as the ship in the video sail off to.

Best description of this performance I've heard is that the Simon and Garfunkel version is God warning humanity of the dangers of technology and Disturbed version is a pissed off God that we ignored the warning.
@ David Bird I honestly do not know if Paul Simon wrote the song intending that it seem a warning from god and he may have but I always just interpreted it as Paul Simon issuing a warning based on what he was seeing happen and what he imagined would happen if in person communication between people continued to decline which it has exponentially since the song was written with addition of internet, social media, and cell phones.
I don't think anyone in 1963 or 64 whenever it was written would believe it if it was described to them back then. And with the further rapid decline in personal communication Disturbed turned the song into the "you better listen and correct because you ignored the warning long ago" version but nowhere in the entire song did any god come to mind. But I guess everyone has their own interpretation

Notice that he never stopped leaning on the chair. David was too sick to stand during this performance. There was one small section where the producers used auto-tune because they thought it was needed with David's sickness. David was very upset they did that.
