Simon called Draimen and loved the song so much they added it to his playlist.
Imagine the original song writer being overwhelmed and so impressed he told Draimen that’s exactly how I wanted to resonate.
Draimen can sing anything. His family were not supportive of his decision to go the rock/metal route but Draimen knew what he wanted and his voice is perfect and amazing. One of a kind. Draimen 🥰
And to think that David Draiman was sick during the Conan performance. He still killed it.

I heard that David was so emotional after this live performance, he was crying backstage afterwards. I guess his sickness at the time didn't help either. What an astonishing live performance it really was, and despite his illness, he didn't appear to struggle with any of the deeper or higher notes, which I find amazing.

Simon and Garfunkel unknowingly made a song decades ago only to ultimately be finished in my opinion by David’s vocals. Now the song can finally take a rest from waiting for it to actually be completed ❤

Agree with you 100% - the song has finally been completed and sung with the pain, and hurt and bringing forth the inner demons, David has taken the song, and given it life, bringing forth the soul of the song the way it needed to be.

Many thanks to Simon & Garfunkel, they have a huge catalogue of work and have influenced MANY current artists.....thanks to them for writing and recording this classic first over 50 years ago, warning us to not turn our backs on the world and it's willingness to embrace "SILENCE"........they made it possible for Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret this great piece of music......

As someone who suffers really bad with depression I find comfort and truth in the song
I had a very heavy depression session a couple of months ago and literally laid in bed and listened to this on a loop, day and night, for 2 weeks straight.

I read David was the only one who wanted to do this song. He convinced the band but they said they never want to do another cover. Well probably their biggest hit ever. This song the way he sings it is beautiful. Simon Garfunkel I read was so impressed with it ❤️
It was actually the opposite. He did an interview with "charismatic voice" and explained. I believe it was his drummer originally then another member. They basically had to convince David. He was leary that they could pull it off.
I saw them in concert and he did this song, and it was just AMAZING!!!!!!!!@

As it’s been said David had a bad case of the flu during this performance you should react to the original video it’s better I think . The original version is said to be a warning of things to come David’s version is said it’s that no one listened to the warning. I saw an interview where Simon called David after seeing this, and told him the song was now his he like it so much.

Yes that was awesome especially when you consider he had to be helped off-stage afterward because he was so ill. Please check out the studio version which is even more polished as he was not ill and the performance even more slick.

Actually that night since he was horribly sick with a high temperature and stressing about what his performance would be like, Conan's producers without telling him autotuned I believe the end of one stanza. I read that David wasn't terribly happy about that. Nobody needs to autotune David. He was born to sing this song.
To say that David was upset with the small bit of autotune is an understatement. He tried having it removed but it was too late.

This version is not as good as the studio version . And yet that voice is incredible.
You totally blew it by including the lady with red hair. Not only was her commenbtary boring, but the sound of her voice alone would have driven anyone with a male chromozone from the room screaming!
You chose the wrong version. Listen to the official studio version, not this creeps show. The sound is much better. Fantastic song.
I respectfully disagree, the studio version seems lifeless and artificial to me, compared to the depth of emotion of this performance.
I understand it when bands do covers of songs from older bands that aren't all that great and make them better like how Led Zeppelin took a few songs from older blues artists and made them their own and they sounded a bit different but I never understood the purpose of doing a cover of a song that's already great and possibly not doing it justice and actually ruining the song for some of us like in this song because in Simon & Garfunkel's version their voices are much softer and in a song called
"The sounds of silence" it fits a lot better I think because the singer of disturbed voice is too deep for the song.. To me it only proves that Disturbed doesn't really have their own creativity to make something of their own great so instead they try to share the spotlight with someone else's greatness which is just another form of plagiarism.
You missed the whole point of this remarkable cover. Go & listen to the original.....its a warning. The remake shows the anger & disparaging loss.....because the warning was ignored. Once you have done this.......go & research what Paul Simon himself had to say regarding the cover. I understand if you are a purest....don't let it handicap you to the point where you can't witness something transcend to a whole other plane.✌

Well first of all it wouldn't make any sense for me to talk about this in a comment section where people agree because then no one would learn from what I'm saying.
Second of all they didn't even make it their own they just copied right from the source so that it sounds exactly the same except for the voice which does prove my point that they don't have their own creativity at least not when it comes to this song and I have heard their music it's garbage as with most all today's so-called music which is pretty much CGI, Auto-Tune, simulated artificial intelligence and fake but to you it's really good because your standards are low they play lots of bar chords with distortion and virtually no complex arrangements so it's basically like everything else simplified surface music with no depth but that's typical for today's heavy meddle, I listen to older classic progressive rock and older rock jazz fusion and there's a big difference.

David was ill with the flu when he did this live rendition. He told the producers they were NOT to add auto-tune, but they ultimately did. He was pissed, to say the least.
For anyone willing to do their own reaction to David's rendition, I would highly recommend NOT using this version, but go with the music video version. Much better in my opinion.
I noticed that just about every woman's reactions here, that they were literally swooning over him. The lady who said she lived on an ambulance route made me laugh... She was swooning over the thickness of David's neck LMAO 😂😂
