Watched this one several years ago. You pretty much convinced me to try Kahr pistols. Bought a PM9 first, loved it so ended up with 2 more CM9s,1CW380 and a P9. All of them are accurate, reliable and outstanding conceal carry guns.
Hello, any comparison to the sig 365, hellcat, and m&p? I am aware those are better pistols but im not looking to spend $600+ on one. How does your cm9 hold up against those?
@musaabr Good question. The Sig is about the same size, very close and of course carries more. The Shield is bigger and again, carries more. Shooting characteristics, all three are excellent. The Shield is probably the most accurate and softest shooting. The sig and kahr are similar. Both good. Not jumpy pistols. Reliability... the Shield is tops and that's important. The Sig is considered more reliable but my Kahr has never misfed. So it's a toss up. The kahr is 100-200 $less. And that's something to consider. Understand this though, none of the 3 are true pocket pistols. Not even the Kahr. Too big for normal clothing or summer carry. So, it's up to you. All very good choices. Hope that helps.

Okay Hickok, after hearing you extol the virtues of Talon grips for the umpteen thousandth time, I finally took a look at their website. I just couldn't justify $18 for a little piece of rubberized sandpaper. Instead I cut a piece of bicycle inner tube (a little less than 1" in diameter) I had out in the garage, and stretched it over the grip. The aggressive checkering on the CM9 really holds it in place well, and the checkering actually shows through the rubber. And you're right - it made a HUGE difference in the way that little fella feels in my hand. I have to say, putting a little something on that grip was excellent advice. Thanks!
I bought a CM9 several years ago and I just love it. I carry it more than any other pistol that I own. The thing that really sets it apart for me is the trigger. Kahr has 7 different patents on their trigger, and it really is unique. You're just not going to find that kind of trigger on any other pistol.

He does not judge the firearm in anyway....he gets to the point....Look at all his sponsors...that should tell you something....good job Hickok / Hickok and son!! I've carried the .40 version of this exact pistol for some years now. Love it! Rides in my pocket all day with no discomfort, and it gives me 6 rounds of .40 power. Hurts like all hell to shoot, but for a pocket carry gun, it's awesome.
Iv got the cm .40 and i love mine. And that hang up your talking about clears up after break in. Mine did that when i first bought it,but it quit after i racked the slide quite a bit. Mine shoots perfect. Eats everything i feed it. And thank you for your videos. I watched your videos when i got my first gun. You've taught me so much. Thank you.
Being in south Texas, clothing options for concealed carry are often limited. I've had a CM9 riding in my pocket for 3 years now. I love the gun. Never a hiccup and she's had a lot of rounds downrange.
I have had the CM9 for a couple years and it has more then 5000 rounds through it. Not a single malfunction. I am very impressed with it. Thanks for reviewing
mr hickcock I've been shooting competition since I was twelve years old know many fine expert competitive shooter's you sir can handle a firearm very well! You are extremely knowledgeable with firearms facts and techniques and you are a gentleman! Enjoy your videos...
I carry a CW9 daily, and also have a CT380, CW380 and a CT45. All are excellent shooting weapons, accurate and reliable. I've not had one issue with any of them. I was apprehensive about buying such a small 9mm and assumed that the recoil would be to snappy and unmanageable; hard to keep on target. But this weapon is extremely easy to shoot and follow up shots are quick. You'll only get two fingers on the grip, but that's the trade-off for such a small weapon and it's enough to control the gun easily. Get yourself one. You'll be glad that you did
I just wanted to say how much my husband and I enjoy your videos--you are an amazing shot and have helped us so much with all the helpful information you provide. I just got my Talon Grips for my Karh CM9 and it has made an amazing difference for me. I have a pain condition which has not only weakened my hands but has made them far more sensative to pain. I loved my Karh before--it's a great gun and fits nicely in my purse and in my hand, but I was having trouble racking it and until today, it was simply painful to hold and handle because of harsh ridges on the grip. I took it out shooting today and I shot my best. I am having no pain at all while firing and it is far easier to rack. And now that I've put about 450 rounds through it, I did not have a single FTF which was a major concern before. Those Talon Grips were very easy to apply and made all the difference in the world! (We are sending back the Sandpaper Pistol Grips for the hubby's DB9 for Talons--these grips are just too complicated and rough on the skin for our purposes.) So thank you and keep shooting (and posting)! PS, we want your backyard! ;)
Have had a PM9 for a couple decades (CM9 wasn't available until about 2011). Outstanding carry pistol that has never malfunctioned in any way. Also have a TP9 (bigger version of PM9 with same trigger feel) as the longer barrel and grip is a little more fun for practice.
Regarding "C vs P" build and reliability...I have a 5,000 round CW9 (slightly bigger brother to CM). No breakage, excellent accuracy, and just as reliable as my Glocks. Had it for 5 years, and bet my life on it daily. G43 is on my "must buy" list, but it keeps getting bumped down cause I already have an outstanding CCW pistol (and limited funds).
@@john091077 That wouldn't surprise me. I stopped looking since I had 3. If I know I am going to an area I might need more, I take my XD with 16 round mags, and they were giving those mags away. I think I have a dozen of them.
We have a PM9 and two CM9s and have never had a malfunction with any of them. I have been pocket carrying the CM9 for about a year now. I take it to the range without cleaning it after pocket carry and no problems. A great little pistol for the money.
That cm is an good little gun. I carried it for 2yrs. All kinds of cheap ammo and never one issue. With thats said if you dont rack it hard or release the slide lock it will stay open. It is crazy loud, ear piercing. Well worth the money though and very easy to carry even with the extended mag. Awsome review as usual.
Totally agree about the Talon Grips - I had never put them on any of my guns but I ordered some for my CM45 and it makes a huge difference! I just ordered a CW9 this week and might get some for it too.
Thank you so much for doing this nice carry gun. I've had mine for years and its the last conceal carry I have used. I got a High Noon Holster to go with it and its a charm! Ive had great service over the years and has never failed and ate all sorts of ammo types.
CM9 is also cheaper because of quality control. The top round in the mag actually flips up to feed. Recoil causes it, as does inserting the magazine. When you do so with the slide closed it gets pushed back down so it can hang when you rack it unless you do so very hard. Manual says it's intended to be carried condition 1 for that reason.
I bought the CM 9 over a year ago and love it.. I really wanted the PM 45 so I bought that one also.. I found that the 45 shoots as well as my Glock.. At 45 feet I was putting a full mag in a 3 inch group.. Kahr is a great gun.. I like it so much I trust it with my life because it's my everyday carry.. I have shot both guns hundreds of times and have had zero problems..
Enjoy all of your videos. Especially the pure enjoyment of shooting in a safe manner. It is good to see a fellow shooter showing responsibility and pushing back on the anti-gun community. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
After the break in, and if you use the slide release as they recommend, they seem very reliable. At least in my experience, and the forums tend to agree.
Kahr's manual with the firearm states, "Leave the slide locked back for a week to break it in." Went to the range the day I got it, lots of problems. Left it locked back a week, not a single problem since. Excellent firearms, Kahr has.
Grips, yes. Hi Hickok. Recently added a Pearce rubber grip to my LCP and 13lb spring and it is now a pleasure to shoot. Feels better to hold and recoil is now under control.
I've owned a P9 for six years and in that time have had exactly zero malfunctions of ANY kind. Always goes bang when it's supposed to. I've owned a CM9 for two years and in that time, same performance, zero issues of any kind. I carry one or the other every single day, and in south Florida that means through the hottest most humid temperatures in the country. The one thing that I do wish Kahr would do is improve the magazine design, it sticks out, and also, until break in, the smaller CM9 did not want to feed the extended 8 round magazines 100%. However, I gladly go out the door with the standard mag pistol every day. And in south Florida, the CM9 is available for $400 or slightly less if you look.
Hickok 45, I'm 69 and been a shooter most of my life, but when it came time to find a reliable, small 9mm for CCW I relied on you for good advice. I've put 200 rds through my CM9 without a hitch. This weapon is small enough that I don't hesitate to carry it IWB in a Vedder kydex holster. Thanks again for the sound counsel.
I have a Kahr CW45 as my conceal carry. I absolutely love that gun. It is reliable and accurate, especially once you get the feel of it. The CW45 also takes 1911 magazines, so you can save A LOT of money when purchasing extra magazines.
I just purchased a Kahr MK9 so I had to watch Hickok45 shoot a Kahr. The best part, he hits the turkey with the first shot then misses the cowboy the next two rounds, go figure. Hickok, you are the best.
hickok I just ordered this gun not even an hour' ago then came home and saw this vid . I think that's a good sign I did right by ordering it :-) thanks for all ur knowledge and input over the years I've relied on ur channel for a lot cheers
I have a PM9 and it's really nice! Changed the trigger pull, got the factory barrel nickel boron coated, changed the plastic plunger inside the slide and installed a Galloway flat trigger. Overall I've fired hundreds of rounds, after you break in the gun per the instructions it's really ultra reliable!!!
I've got 600 rounds through my PM9 in the 6 months I've had it and I've never had a single malfunction of any sort with different brands of ammo. In my opinion it is the most versatile single stack 9 as it can fit comfortably in your pocket without bulging and it sits just as comfortably IWB.
I carry a cw9 and I really enjoyed this vid. Using the kahr has made me reflexively tap the real of my pistol when firing them, even when unneeded. Even with the problems of the platform, kahr is my favorite pistol company
Ric mine came with 3dot sites. Don't know about night sights. The one I have is the newest with a tungsten slide, 3 dot sights, rubber grip sleeve, and one 6 round mag with finger extension. It is my edc weapon.
Great review as always. I've had a CM 9 now for a few years. I must say it's a great little pistol. I've never had a problem one with it. Feeds every kind of ammo I've thrown at it since NIB without a single jam. This is a very accurate gun once you've shot it a bit considering its size. Its been my everyday carry since I've owned it.
A few years ago I traded a Para G.I. Expert 1911 for a Kahr P45, great little gun...good trade. I've been a fan of Kahr ever since I fired it. Great video, thanks for all you guys do for us.
Great video as always Hickok. You definitely got me back into shooting. Got my first pistol last week (springfield 1911). Took it out yesterday for the first time and was shooting some great groupings. No doubt thanks to your videos.
Good educational video, Hickok45. There is a big market for small everyday carry pistols, now days. All the Hickok45 videos will help people make a good decision, when they decide to buy a quality firearm.
Hundreds of rounds through my CW380. Had issues with slingshot and failures to feed when gun was brand new, but since about 300 or so rounds, i've had no issues with a slingshot on my CW380. Been reliable and awesome!
Got my cm9 a few years ago. Bout 4000 rds through it. Only problems I've had is the magazine catch try's to rust from laying on my skin. And also the feed ramp hit the magazine follower and broke the face off. Kahr sent me free replacement parts. No other problems. Love this little gun to carry in summer time. When u buy a new Kahr Google "proper prep of a new Kahr". Follow instructions on that forum and u won't have any problems with the gun.
I am also a Talon grips fan. I have the rubber version on my m&p shield, m&p 40, and g19. I find that I adjust my grip between shots much less with the Talon grips. Excellent product.
got this gun for my brother for his wedding gift ( didn't get his wife anything) told them they had to share. The gun is amazing, my brother cc's everywhere and its the smallest 9mm ive ever held, makes my shield look big. My brother was a bit confused with racking the slide, he contacted khar and they said its in the manual, who reads the manual? Great vid Hickok45 keep it up!
I've been waiting for this video. I carried the CW9 for a couple of years until I made the mistake of letting my wife try it. Now it's her primary carry pistol. My brother has the CM9 and it's been completely reliable as well.
I've had three. I don't show them off to family members any more. I've always gripped mine super tight. Never thought about grip tape. Headed to the closet right now. Thanks for the suggestion Hickok45. P.S. It is more accurate than me.
Another good review (would I expect anything less...) I really like the CM9. Smaller than the S&W Shield and Glock 43 cheaper than the PM9. I am gonna disagree about the use of grip tape on this particular pistol but that's a personal preference.
Hickok45 comes thru again. I know someone that wants to trade a Kahr CM9 for a Ruger LCP so I googled the CM9 and thankfully (and not surprisingly) you had done a review video on one. Needless to say I will be making the trade. Thanks again Hickok45.
Love the videos that you make. I have never owned a gun and live in a country where they are very difficult to buy but I am addicted to gun youtube sites in general and yours in particular. I think the reason for it is that guns are like jewelry. Very intricate and beautiful. Great camera work especially when watching in HD. Keep up the great work!
been watching your channel for 3 years and possibly more and as a brit its been a education and enjoyable you are a great guy ibest of luck and hope you never get permantly shut off by google :)
Keep up the good work, sir! We do enjoy your video's in Europe, even though we are not allowed to buy our own firearms (without permit). Hence we practice our shooting skills with our air guns and pistols (walther cp 88 and the swiss arms 1911...). I salute your country, sir. Long live the USA!
Thanks for the review, I always enjoy watching. I just bought a CM9 today after doing some research and finding many positive things said about the gun. People are saying (as well as Kahr themselves) to shoot 200 rounds through the gun to break it in. After that it should be very reliable. Heading to the range tomorrow to give it a whirl.
I agree with the use of Talon grips. Not too sure about the competitors but all polymer guns I own have a Talon grip on it. If Talon reads this, sponsor this channel. A million views is good advertising for a great company.
Own all the major brands. Kahr CM9 only model I ever returned for repair. When doing a mag dump the very last round (7) F2F would jam. To Kahr's credit they fixed the issue. Tiny little gun.
Well, its been about 5 years since your cm9/pm9 comparison. I currently own 2 khar cm9's and a cm45 among all my other guns. I own some glocks and a sig p365 too. What I have decided is that while the khar was my first choice, now it is limited in round count and is not as reliable as a glock or the p365. When I compared my khar to my glock, I noticed a major difference. The back of the glocks were longer, meaning that the feed ramp was at only a slight angle, while the khar feed ramp was much steeper. The steep feed ramp led to more stovepipes. In fact, I felt the khar was only about 85% reliable, while my glocks and sig were 100% reliable. I also notice on my cm45, there were multiple feed issues and closer spaces. Lately I had a light primer strike and tried to rack the slide. The round that hadn't gone off was caught in the ejection port beause was too big to easily fit through. My point here is that with all the new carry options, khar has not done enough to stay ahead of the pack.
Just want to drop a comment to Federal for helping sponsor your channel. Thanks to Bud's gun shop and Sanoran Institute also. All you guys together, not forgetting you and John, produce a quality show that is of great value to the gun public.
I installed a Hogue Handall Junior on my CM40. 40 S&W is a bear out of a 15 ounce pistol like this, the grip really helps you control the recoil. I used to use the talon grip rubber, but they didn't work as well as the Hogue.
I fell asleep while watching this and when I woke up I got ready for the day even though I slept only an hour. I hope your happy, now I'm watching the video again because I respect and enjoy your videos you evil man you.
Thank you again for an informative vid. I was close to getting a CM9 but came across a nice used PM9 for a good price and opted for that. What I also appreciate in this vid and the PM9 vid is the gong test! Several times at the range I thought my newly acquired PM9's site radius was too short to be accurate beyond say 25 yards. Thanks for setting me and others straight on this. Cheers and keep up the excellent things you do for the firearm community!
They're sweet little guns, regardless of configuration. If you really must have the melt treatment, polygonal rifling and the rest, your choice is clear. And you're right, this is a great time to be in the market for a small pistol in general. All the manufacturers small to large competing for that slice of the expanding pie and what a group of options we have as a result.

My experience mirrors yours (except my round count is still in 3 digits) with my all-black CM9. Great little pistol.
I would choose a Kahr over 2 Glocks
@@PyroRob69 I'm from three years in the future. They're $40 now.
I'm addicted to your videos. Appreciate your research.
I understand why this guy has one of the most popular channels.. Very knowledgeable and informative..
Thank you so much for doing this nice carry gun. I've had mine for years and its the last conceal carry I have used. I got a High Noon Holster to go with it and its a charm! Ive had great service over the years and has never failed and ate all sorts of ammo types.
You Mr. Hickok have helped me find my choice of purchase for carry glock 19. Thank you for educating us all and please keep it up sir, Class act job.
I like how you can see the bullet flying to that gong looks awesome :)
CM9 is a great little gun...sold to a friend and he's carried it for years.
This is one of those videos that Hickock helped me make a purchase decision. :)
Enjoy all of your videos. Especially the pure enjoyment of shooting in a safe manner. It is good to see a fellow shooter showing responsibility and pushing back on the anti-gun community. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been pocket carrying one of these for almost 2 years now. Great little pistol for that job, and a good shooter once you get practice with it.
After the break in, and if you use the slide release as they recommend, they seem very reliable. At least in my experience, and the forums tend to agree.
rumor has it if you take the cm9's recoil spring out press it real hard then let go, it hits harder than bullets.
Ive been carrying my cm9 recoil spring for years now and i love it!
Cm9 is my everyday carry. I love this gun. Goes everywhere with me
I've owned a P9 for six years and in that time have had exactly zero malfunctions of ANY kind.
Thanks for the grip advice, and you've sold me on that cm9. Thanks- great video-
Use a bike tube you can take it off, I eventually just went with no grip.
absolutely love the kahr 380 aswell as the 9mm. simple yet beautifully designed handguns🔥🔥🙌🏼
Hickok 45, I'm 69 and been a shooter most of my life, but when it came time to find a reliable, small 9mm for CCW I relied on you for good advice. I've put 200 rds through my CM9 without
a hitch.
You're my hero and I envy the things you get to play with. so much fun. Thanks for the reviews
This guy must get a lot of ants in his yard from all those two liters🤣
i think that every time I see that. hahaha
Haven't read one thing bad about either,,,, I think its a perfect choice for an EDC,,,,😁✌🇺🇸💪
Lmao
With his accuracy, I'm sure he target practices on the and lowers the ant population in one session
I carry a cw9 and I really enjoyed this vid. Using the kahr has made me reflexively tap the real of my pistol when firing them, even when unneeded. Even with the problems of the platform, kahr is my favorite pistol company
So glad that you are back! Nobody does a better job on firearms than you.
Love my CM9. The newer ones come with a rubber grip in the box. This weapon is the perfect pocket pistol as far as I am concerned.
Ross Whaley do the newer ones come with night sights
Ric mine came with 3dot sites. Don't know about night sights. The one I have is the newest with a tungsten slide, 3 dot sights, rubber grip sleeve, and one 6 round mag with finger extension. It is my edc weapon.
Great review as always. I've had a CM 9 now for a few years. I must say it's a great little pistol. I've never had a problem one with it. Feeds every kind of ammo I've thrown at it since NIB without a single jam. This is a very accurate gun once you've shot it a bit considering its size. Its been my everyday carry since I've owned it.
The best gun show ever...hands down!!!
A few years ago I traded a Para G.I. Expert 1911 for a Kahr P45, great little gun...good trade. I've been a fan of Kahr ever since I fired it. Great video, thanks for all you guys do for us.
I agree in adding something to grips on the smaller EDCs - I put a little hogue on my EC9S and it made a huge improvement
Great video as always Hickok. You definitely got me back into shooting. Got my first pistol last week (springfield 1911). Took it out yesterday for the first time and was shooting some great groupings. No doubt thanks to your videos.
Kahr makes great CCW pistols with excellent triggers 👌
Good educational video, Hickok45. There is a big market for small everyday carry pistols, now days. All the Hickok45 videos will help people make a good decision, when they decide to buy a quality firearm.
Mr. Hickok45, I truly enjoy your videos. I just traded for a lightly used PM9 today, after watching your video review from earlier. Thank you sir.
I bought a CM-9 this morning because of this video and the fact that my son-in-law loves his, also I just wanted one I will see how it goes.
I love when the camera person zooms in on you shooting the Gong. You can see the bullet flying for a split second before it hits. Love it.
Send Big John to Starbucks with it. He could be a comedian with a kahr getting coffee.
+jasonjur Ouch! Lol!
I've been waiting for this video. I carried the CW9 for a couple of years until I made the mistake of letting my wife try it. Now it's her primary carry pistol. My brother has the CM9 and it's been completely reliable as well.
I finally bought a Talon grip for mine based on this video recommendation. The grip is great! Vast improvement.
H45's pistols always look good with the Talon grips 👍
Keep up the great work!
been watching your channel for 3 years and possibly more and as a brit its been a education and enjoyable you are a great guy ibest of luck and hope you never get permantly shut off by google :)
awesome focusing from the camera, i love these closeups
Great shooting! I wish I had your skills. Thank you for continuing to make great gun videos for us to be entertained by and to learn from!
Its because they shoved 3.6" barrel into that size.
Just want to drop a comment to Federal for helping sponsor your channel. Thanks to Bud's gun shop and Sanoran Institute also. All you guys together, not forgetting you and John, produce a quality show that is of great value to the gun public.
The vid quality is superb Mr. Hickok! This has been something I'm thinking of adding to the collection. The cw380 is a great lil Firearm too. 💓 Hickok
I installed a Hogue Handall Junior on my CM40. 40 S&W is a bear out of a 15 ounce pistol like this, the grip really helps you control the recoil. I used to use the talon grip rubber, but they didn't work as well as the Hogue.
Same here.
100% agree on the need for Talon Grips. I have the rubber material. Night and day difference for sure.
Love when I need a review on a gun and Hickok never fails
Great video! Always like the comparison videos of different guns!
My EDC for the last 3 years, I really trust it!
I bought my Kahr cm9 after watching this video. Thanks for the video Hickok45.
