For the people asking “why” it’s because their pistols were single stack before this. They’re extremely accurate little pistols but the capacity was always the thing holding them back.
Accuracy and portability were the strength. Price, reliability, capacity and trigger feel all seemed to dog the brand. Frankly, until this video, I couldn’t have told you they were still in business. I wish them well and hope they continue to get better.
Don't miss the whole Kahr mission: Police backup for revolvers. Police transitioning from a 5 shot snub nosed revolver did not have a huge training/trigger disapline gap with the Kahr's long smooth trigger. Remember: more than a few NYC officers that switched to Glocks, were having negligent discharges. ( this also gave birth to the NY 12lb. Glock trigger.....musta' sucked huh?)
Kahr was one of my 1st guns. I was buying alot of reloads back then and blew it up. I sent it back to them in about 7 pieces and they sent me a brand new pistol back. Very very good customer service. I sold the pistol and haven't owned once since but 10 years later I still think they deserve some love
It’s great to see Kahr stepping into the double stack market and responding to consumers desire for a trigger they’re more comfortable with and doing it at a very reasonable price. My PM40 is old but shoots amazingly well. Groups on paper look like they’re from a full size pistol. Getting 40 caliber power in a 380 size pistol really quite an accomplishment. Kudos to Kahr.
My PM 40 is absolutely amazing for an old technology pistol. I can carry it with a 7rd mag so 8 chambered, if I can get it done with 8 rds of 40S&W then it ain’t getting done! Front pocket carryable especially with the 6rd mags is unbelievable! 👍🏻
For those who don't have experience with Kahr, they have an extremely rugged feel. My P9 feels like it could be run over by a truck. Also, super accurate for it's size. Can't wait for this new double stack.
I had a CT9 that never let me down. It was slim, had a great trigger and was accurate. I traded it in on a P365 and don’t regret it but the CT9 was a great little pistol.
I hope they release a "classic" version, especially in stainless, that's just like the old ones but with the double stack- including the CW380. Like how you can get a 2011 that is the same as a classic(ish) 1911 without a bunch of stuff being changed. Because that's what I liked about Kahr, was that they were different and felt different than anybody else. This new one looks like they're just trying to compete with everything else in the same class instead of being different like they always were. That's fine and they'll sell, but I want my classic Kahr just with a higher capacity...
They won't sell. What did people like about the K9? Nice stainless steel design, smooth with nothing to snag, elegance, one of the best double action triggers anywhere, being double action only so no need for tons of obtrusive safeties and levers everywhere, and a nice Lothar-Walther barrel. THIS THING is yet another disappointing, boring Glock clone. News flash to Kahr --- if I wanted a Glock --- I'D JUST GO BUY THE GLOCK!!
I remember paying $900 for my PM9 with night sights. UGH! About 20 years ago. Still carry it to this day. Haven't purchased a P365 or anything else micro since the PM9 is still smaller by a 1/2" on the barrel or more! I have found the smaller it is, the more likely I carry. Hoping this is a "real deal" new option.
I'm a big fan of Kahr, but I sold my K9 and K40. I've still got my PM9 as my pocket gun. But I might consider this as an alternative to my 43x. Good job, Kahr.
This looks like the making of an absolutely excellent boot gun. Battlefield pick up potential for mag interchangeability too! This thing looks sick! Looking forward to it.
I think this is awesome, and I don’t get people who are like ohhh man they are late because it’s not too late for someone who has brand loyalty or familiarity and it’s just another option and options and industry competition are always good!! @@granitejeepc3651I came to make the same comment. The Kel Tec P11 was 10+1, about the same size as the P365, once lighter than P365, and also had a removable chassis like the P365.

I'm very happy to see Kahr joining the rest of the industry with double-stack mags and increased capacity, let alone having 365 mag compatibility. Not a fan of that Glock-like slide release lever though - it looks cheap. That aside, I would love to see the K9 given the same treatment, but without the rail, front serrations, or optics cut. Aside from the nice DAO trigger, much of the appeal of the K9 comes from its smooth, clean lines and pretty looks.
I kinda like the aesthetics and the price of this new X9, but I wish they'd make a version with a stainless steel slide. Also an all metal version like the K9 would be awesome. Kahr needs to put this on the CA roster so I could buy one. Sig just put the P365 on the roster as well as SA's Hellcat so Kahr should do the same.
I remember when kahr announced their Gen 2 at Shot Show years ago and completely dropped the ball and it was never released. Hopefully they can pull this one off and it actually hits the market.
I remember that too. They even had a different trigger with an integrated safety. I emailed them asking when those would be available and got a prompt reply for a fall timeframe, then…nothing. Glad to see them not just improving but innovating with magazine “interchangeability.” Here’s to hoping they put out a steel frame double-stack K9 equivalent, eventually.
I have carried a PM9 over 10 years and it is on my hip now. Like many, the lure of a larger capacity is strong. The x 9 seems to be the answer us dedicated Kahr owners are seeking. several changes have modernized the platform with an advertised trigger update. Personally I have no problem with the PM 9 trigger. One becomes accustomed to a mechanical device and the trigger feels perfectly natural to me. I have other handguns with shorter takeup, shorter reset but none are as smooth as the Kahr. In a startling encounter the Kahr trigger will limit accidental discharge. If you practice, you know when the gun will fire. I always wonder how many have actually fired their handgun in an encounter and how many rounds were discharged. I think my PM 9 with 6 + 1 would handle 99% of encounters, but I’m eager to have a few more in reserve. You’ll never lose a battle because you have too many rounds. Waitin on June !
A Kahr PM40 was my first concealed carry handgun.. I was gifted a 1911 by my grandpa at 18, and never even dreamed of carrying it.. But once I got out of college a few years later and started working and was engaged to be married, I got a the Kahr pm40 used at the local gun store.. It was a freakin hand full of a pistol.. That thing was like 14-15oz in weight, with a tiny grip, and y'all know 40cal isn't a slouch in the recoil department.. After working and working on getting good, quick and repeatable accuracy.. I gave up and bought a glock 19..
My second but first semi-auto carry was a CW45 that I carried for years. A year ago I switched to the 9mm and wanted more capacity which Kahr didn't offer. This is a game changer. If they can get a Canik trigger on one I'll take it.
How is Kahr still in business? I remember when the Glock 43 came out, and all I could thing was that Kahr was done.. I haven’t seen any of their pistols in store since then.
I love your feed back and honesty on your videos……. But you didn’t sound too convinced about that reset lol I looked so long you almost came out of trigger guard lol

wow i absolutely cant wait for this this is the first time ive came across this video i discovered them making this about 2 months ago and i just cant wait
I got an early Kahr PM9, way back when, which I still front pocket carry most every day with only an occasional swap out to a different carry. I'm really delighted to see that Kahr is coming out with this double stack 9mm but it is not a gun I'm likely to purchase. [I'll be 80 years old in August and am actually looking to thin out my gun ownership.]
@@MF-Rell They don't need to because... people thinking about buying a 43X don't care about getting 15-round capacity from the standard size Glock mags (instead of paying extra for Shield Arms mags)?
@@kenhoward3512 No, they don't need to because Glock understands that they're a monolith in the gun community. They know the aftermarket will do it for them. Same reason they still ship with plastic sights. There will never not be an aftermarket solution for a Glock product.
I love the shorter reset on the original trigger. Ive always liked the trigger in my PM9 but that reset always feels too far out. Nice to hear theyre honing it in. And the magazine idea is beautiful considering stock Kahr sigle stack mags are typically expensive and hard to find, so being able to toss in some cheaper range mags that are more common is always a plus. Not super thrilled for the optics cut but maybe it'll convince me to try a red dot instead of just my trusty laser.
I can’t believe Kahr is still in business. But the gun looks way better than the older ones. I’ve had a Kahr 9 & .380 years ago. Long trigger reset and really stiff recoil springs. 😑 Ambi takedown levers 😂
@Kahr, please put this new styling and takedown into the 380 and 40, in the smallest slimmest models. Can keep single stack, keep it ultra slim. That's your defining winning differentiation. Please keep that.
2:26 I would assume to be able to switch from P365 mags to the Hellcat mags, the gun would need some kind of mag well adapter, right? Because I haven't heard mags can be swapped between a P365 and a Hellcat, so there's got to be some physical differences between the two. A hole can adapt a round peg or a square peg, you just have to convert the shape of that hole before you jam the peg in it :)
Still have my CM9. Lightest reliable single stack 9mm. Used it as a rear jersey pocket carry on my road bike. SIG double stack mags should hit this one out of the ballpark.
Look into the Mag Guts springs if you want an extra round. Comes with a better follower as well. XTPs or Critical Defense run well in mine. Flat point ammo, not so much
I'm still waiting for an optics ready single stack PM-9. If I wanted to carry a double stack I would just buy a Hellcat. Maybe they could improve it by adding a longer mag to double as a mono pod shooting rest.
I still have my MK9. Carried it since it was brand new. I mean since it first hit shelves. I will definitely be checking out the new one. I already have several P365 mags. That would be a trip if it was good enough to replace the gun that replaced my MK9.
Very, very excited for this gun. If I had one wish for a later model in this upcoming line, it would be this exact gun, but in .30 SC. S&W seems to basically have given up on even trying to make a proper .30 SC gun, so I'm still looking for someone else to do that.
The Kahr PM/CM9 are still good for people who live in the desert wearing the thinnest clothing possible. I have it with the 6 round mag but i carry an 8 round back up. This is NOT a do it all piece. Its strictly deep concealment for niche roles. For me i carry it exclusively for my long walks in the Mojave or going to the gym. For other tasks i carry my Glock 30SF. Capacity doesnt mean anything if you arent hitting your target anyways. For most situstions the PM9 will be fine. When i go to the mall i pack a full sized handgun.
Glock mags will always been the most widely adopted, most readily available magazines for full size or compact size double stand handguns. However Sig P365 mags could become the standard for the micro-compact handguns since they come in 10, 12, and 17 round capacities.
Why bother showing them at Shot Show if they won't be available until June? How many times has Kahr made these kind of announcements only to NEVER bring the gun to market. A bunch. Yawn.
You know some women who won’t go out without their makeup on? That was Kahr. Very well put together, sleek, eye catching, beautiful lines in the K series. This gun has a snaggel tooth release and its grip is in pieces. Now that I think of it, the 365 has got the best lines of the compacts, especially the XL, and maybe that’s part of the reason for its success too. Kahr, please don’t make this the ugly sister of the 365. I hope this is a prototype only. I love my Kahrs. I love the revolver pull for safety combined with a narrow form. Would it be that much more costly in injecting molding to make a one piece grip?
James, I've watched a lot of your videos but this is the first time I've seen your camera-- is that a GH6? If it is, I 1000% trust your opinion on weapons from here on out.
we need more aftermarket companies to make sig mags.... i dont know why magpul didnt until this year but seriously oem 10-13rd mags are 40-50 dollars 15+s are like 50-60 and even that high price point some people say they are getting rust
What I really want to see is the P365 mags in a double stack 1911, I love the slim grip and ergos on a traditional 1911 but imagine that similar profile with these mags.
For the people asking “why” it’s because their pistols were single stack before this. They’re extremely accurate little pistols but the capacity was always the thing holding them back.

Mine was a PM40. Been almost 20 years too
Finally something truly new and improved from Kahr. Let's hope that trigger is a good one
My CW380 💩 the bed when the striker shattered into several pieces 74 rounds into it… never will trust Kahr again
Still have my CM9. Lightest reliable single stack 9mm. Used it as a rear jersey pocket carry on my road bike. SIG double stack mags should hit this one out of the ballpark.
Actually unexpected and very innovative from kahr
My first gun CCW 15 years ago was a Keltec P3AT but I really wanted a Kahr PM9 at the time. But I was a broke 23 year old so Keltec it was.
i recently got a cw380. kahrs are sick, idk why more designs haven’t gone with p365 mags
Look into the Mag Guts springs if you want an extra round. Comes with a better follower as well. XTPs or Critical Defense run well in mine. Flat point ammo, not so much
30SC version?
that reset was low key long..stevie wonder saw that one
I'm still waiting for an optics ready single stack PM-9. If I wanted to carry a double stack I would just buy a Hellcat. Maybe they could improve it by adding a longer mag to double as a mono pod shooting rest.
Idk why but i love the aesthetics of a single stack.
I still have my MK9. Carried it since it was brand new. I mean since it first hit shelves. I will definitely be checking out the new one. I already have several P365 mags. That would be a trip if it was good enough to replace the gun that replaced my MK9.
Do you conceal carry that? I imagine the weight offsets the "snap"
Cant wait to hold one. Gonna be a game changer that it takes 3 different types of mags.
Been waiting for this since the dawn of kahr pistols.
I love Kahr, but with PSA making the Micro Dagger (G43X) with in-house produced 15-round mags, accessory rail and optics ready, this seems a bit late.
I’m lowkey EXTREMELY excited for this one!!!
Coming out in June 2024! Which in shot show terms means July 2025.
Love kahr !
JUNE is when it will be available to buy !?!?! That SUKKS that we half to wait so long !! I've been waiting for this for lots of months .
Better late than never lol the mag comparability is cool
Is it the same size as the PM9?
Finally Kahr! How long did that take? 😂
Glock mags will always been the most widely adopted, most readily available magazines for full size or compact size double stand handguns.
However Sig P365 mags could become the standard for the micro-compact handguns since they come in 10, 12, and 17 round capacities.
Looking forward to this hitting my FFL.
Early 90ies 2000s "It take Glock mags" 2024 "It takes Sig mags" Nice pistol!
Kahr finally joins the current decade
What made Kahr is the trigger as long it hasn’t changed I probably put the trigger on it otherwise isn’t necessary
Excited about buying a used one.
Getting it.
What I really want to see is the P365 mags in a double stack 1911, I love the slim grip and ergos on a traditional 1911 but imagine that similar profile with these mags.
😂
When i saw thumbnail I was like kahr? Who cares? This looks freakn great.
Awesome! Can't wait!!!
