@Sean Stevens hey I made this comment years ago and now I live in Europe, honestly we should ban all guns, I've come to realize America is so unnecessarily dangerous and my situation made me a paranoid gun owner
@@NubaHuba Ban guns, huh? As if you think that would keep criminals from obtaining guns? Just like the prohibition on drugs in the US has been working out so well for public safety too, right?. Drugs are banned. So how are people getting drugs? The only thing prohibiting guns in the US would do is prohibit law-abiding people from obtaining them. Let me put this another way. ESPECIALLY nowadays with the proliferation of technology. But hey! Maybe we should regulate plastic and steel too! No buying PLA or round steel bar-stock without a license! Anything made of steel must have a serial number on it! 3D printers! Banned! Drill presses! Banned! Brass sheet! Banned! Not to mention the one thing people so conveniently leave out which is arguably the most important... Gun violence in this country has a million different causes precipitating it, far before even mentioning guns themselves. But no one wants to talk about that! (*cough* War on drugs)... I think it's great that you gave up your guns because you realized you were a paranoid individual. But not everyone is you, and the majority of people here do not live in fear. Gunner’s cameo appearances made me smile, with a few tears. Had to put our dog down yesterday after 15 years of loyal companionship. Rest easy lost friends. 😔 Thank you Hickok for all your videos and insightfulness over the years. Have probably seen them all and rewatched many like this one. I salute you.
I've pocket carried my G26 with Pierce grip extension in Dockers for the past 17 years with no problem. Yes it prints somewhat often but In all that time I don't believe anyone has noticed but me. I mean, who really looks at anothers' pockets anyway. Keep up the great videos, you're the best on UA-cam by far!
Yeah printing in your pocket almost no one would assume thats a gun. Most layman non gun owners don't even know they make guns that small let alone ppl serious carry them. I remember the first time I saw a tiny "stripper pistol" I thought it was just a gag range toy. Took first hand experience of how hard deep concealed carry can be to recognize their value.
Bless you sir. You're a Godsend for a rookie firearm owner like me. You are far and away the best instructor I've seen on UA-cam. Now a loyal follower.
I'm hardly a rookie with firearms, but I agree with the poster about you, Hicock45, being the BEST ON UA-cam. Even my wife, who is H3LL with a shotgun, but not a huge gun person as I am, lives your presentations here. Many thanks to you, Sir!
As someone who considers themself somewhere between noob and expert, I appreciate that you make the information digestible for everyone. It’s rare to see an honest review anymore... thanks again for being a go-to for me and many others!
Thanks. Everything I say might not be all that useful, but it will always be my honest opinion. We never accept sponsorship from anything we're going to review. We don't review ammunition, gun lube, distance learning schools, etc. so we can accept help from those sponsors. Gun companies are another matter; we cannot ever have sponsorship from a gun company.

You can stitch a patch of denim inside your pocket to reduce the printing. Since the stitching is to the pocket it remains out of sight. You can also stich in a small bit of velcro and the other side to your holster to keep it in your pocket.
I’ve been using the Sticky holster with a Taurus .380. Once the holster molded to the gun (a week or so), the pistol breaks clear so fast I thought I had pulled out the holster...but it was still in my pocket. Worth a look.
The advice about buying pants with deep pockets is spot on. Not all pants work, particularly non-cargo style flat pockets. Your pockets are as important to effective pocket carry as strong belts are to open carry holsters.
Ricky Pastille spot on. Low quality clothing such as the overwhelming majority available to us right now will leave a hole in your pocket after a while. I’ve reinforced mine via a taylor, cost me more than the pants but worth it!
A year ago I bought a Kimber Micro 9 for concealed carry and it came with a nylon IWB right handed holster. I'm a big guy and I'm already cramming enough inside this waistband so I decided to utilize it as a pocket holster instead. And it works well for me. The clip fits tightly on the outside of the pocket and doesn't go anywhere when I pull the gun out of it. So that's how I carry. I wear a long t-shirt to cover it and the whole setup just feels most natural and ergonomic for me. Your mileage may vary.
hickok 45, I want to take the time to thank you for your videos. You have a very diverse and comprehensive series of videos. I watched many ( probably all) of them. I teach CCW for the state of Illinois ... (I know the last girl to the dance lol)! I also spent nine years in the US Army Special Forces, commonly known as the Green Berets. Thank you for the excellent, mostly unbiased, (Glock) reviews of firearms!
Thank YOU for watching and for your service. We're pleased that such a diverse group of people seem to watch the videos, everybody from youngsters with little or no real firearms experience to folks like yourself with extensive experience.
Great channel. I learned so much watching these videos about safety, functionality, shooting techniques etc.... Hes not cocky or thinks he’s Rambo, just a regular guy who exercises his right. Very educational but fun at the same time.
My personal defense carry firearm is a Ruger LCP .380, and I use a DeSantis size G1 pocket holster. That combination works very well. Normally does not 'print' when carried in my right trouser pocket (unless I'm wearing tight fitting trousers or shorts). I can pull the pistol out cleanly and the holster stays in my pocket, and the pistol operates exactly like a double-action revolver, that is: pull the trigger and it fires. No safety button to worry about. The Ruger LCP is 'double action only'. It can be safely carried with a round in the chamber due to it's long trigger pull to fire the first round. That and the DeSantis holster covers the trigger so I'm confident in carrying the Ruger ready to go with a round in the chamber. Hickok 45 you and Paul Harrell have the best firearms videos on UA-cam.
Not only have you introduced me to/taught me most of what I know about firearms, you have also inspired me to go into law enforcement. I hope I can become a deputy someday and make my county a safer place and NOT do any gun-grabbing or violating of constitutional rights!
I have discovered another use for an extra pocket holster and that is to carry extra magazines. A pocket holster made for a pistol with a laser can also very snugly carry a couple extra magazines with one slightly higher than the other. This just gives another option for carrying them. My jacket has two very deep zippered pockets. The one on the right holds my LCP max in a pocket holster and the left pocket has a pocket holster for a laser equipped LCP that very nicely holds two 12 round magazines. This also balances out the weight on each side of my jacket. I normally keep both pockets zipped so that nothing falls out when getting in and out of the car. This may not work for many people but I find it convenient for me and a better way to carry the extra magazines. This only works if the magazines fit snugly so they don't come out of the pocket holster before you need them.
All of you who conceal carry and fulfill our civic Constitutional duty to protect our fellow citizens are to be commended. I am about to get my CCW, and take on my responsibikity to protect my home, and carry for my community. Thank you for your educational videos.
Mr. Hickok45, you are the difference between the professional gun user and the so many amateur want to be's on UA-cam! Can't stand these guys that think they know so much about guns and then in their videos they say "I got this gun but I have never fired it." Then they act like they know everything about it, when in reality, they know absolutely nothing about the gun. Thank you for making these videos and thank you for your service!
When u get pulled over bc of a tail light or going over the speed limit, this is why the officer gets real upset if u stick ur hands in ur pocket while he is talking to u. You make it look easy. I was up in TN recently, family vacation to Dollywood, if I didnt have so much family back here, I wouldve stayed, I love TN, I think all country boys do.
I used to pocket carry a Ruger SR40c. I wear nothing but classic fit dress pants, so the pockets are slippery and fairly big because of how they fit. Because of the pocket design, a holster designed to hook the pocket never unsheathed it. I went with a DeSantis SuperFly that grips the pocket as it comes out and it allows me to draw it perfectly. Just got a Ruger LCP II w/ Veridian laser and ordered another SuperFly. They cover the trigger, fit phenomenally for a sheath holster, and it has a pocket protector that's reversible to make it ambidextrous!
I know this video was made years ago but I have to comment on your dog. I too, had a dog that was wild about guns. She would stand in the field in front of the house and bark (beg) me to shoot the .22. I could shoot into the field and make her run clear back to the river. She loved chasing bullets!!! Every time I would take a gun off the rack, she would hear it??? and run into the field barking all the way. A really good, if somewhat crazy dog.
I know this comment was made years ago but I also have to comment on your dog. When I would visit my dad we would shoot bows in the back yard at a bale of hay with targets on it and it was out in the countryside so there were a lot of roaming dogs that were almost always super friendly. Well there was one that every time we went out to shoot some arrows would run over and chase the arrows as we shot them. He was also the best fetch player in existence if he brought you a rock and you threw it into a pile of rocks he would dig around until he found the exact rock with his spittle on it.
@@gottagobuy6436 I know this comment was made a year ago but, I also have to comment on your dog. My dog hates gun shots, fireworks, thunder, loud vehicles (school buses, garbage trucks, etc.), you name it. I don't know that he will ever change.
I pocket carry my S&W 642 air weight .38+p as my back up to my Glock 26 IWB or my 642 is my only CCW for the day . When out riding my road bicycle I wear a “Fanny pack” with either gun inside a holster inside the Fanny pack , it’s a great option for days of exercise activities. Any pocket or Fanny pack carry must be dedicated for the firearm to keep AD at a very minimum . Excellent video as always! 😁✌️🇺🇸
Since 2/3 of the draw time is grip acquisition, the pocket holster is just about the fastest concealed carry method, presuming the the shooter has his / her hand already on the weapon when the fat hits the fire. The problem with pocket carry is that it is difficult to draw one’s weapon when seated, especially when seated in an automobile with the seat belt fastened.
Pocket carry is mainly a warm weather thing for me, and I've found that cargo shorts that are dark-colored or patterned (camo, plaid, etc.) go a long way in helping to break up any printing, especially if I'm carrying something a bit larger like a Glock 43.
I wear cargo pants/shorts with the Vietnam era style camouflage. The pockets are great for spare magazines and carry meds. The camo tends to conceal the outline of your pocket contents (unless you're packin' a .357 wheel gun). The Glock 43 fits comfortably in either front pocket, and I keep a spare mag in each lower cargo pocket. 124gr +P Winchester Ranger Talons are my ammo choice. It's a crazy world today. , and i want every advantage I can have. Carry on and God bless.
I don't let my dog near the range when I'm on it because I don't want a deaf dog! I had a deaf dog growing up and he barked all the time because he thought he "heard" one thing or other outside...
Great video. Could use an update. Pocket carried off duty for 30 years and on into retirement. J-frame .357 in my right pocket and since it was introduced, a .380 LCP backup in my left just in case there is no time to reload. Love me some cargo shorts no matter how ugly they are!
Yep, I've gone to cargo pants, as well, when the weather changes and I have to give up my cargo shorts. I get spoiled by the pockets all through the summer, so I decided I needed to keep my pocket arrangement the same throughout the year. Fashion is the least of my concerns, so I now just wear the same Duluth pants year around; it's just that they have a longer inseam come October. :-)
@@hickok45 Don't laugh, but I'm going to give overalls a try for winter. Not the denim ones but the Carhartt canvas ones. But I have to make sure the main pockets are big enough first.
Great video. On that note I seen a guy the other day with a 1911 pocket carrying in his back pocket. I was shocked all sticking out his pocket like a big chain wallet NO holster. Perhaps you have done a video on this but a good topic would be weapon retention. Not only do you not want it to fall out or carry in a manner where someone could take it from you.
there is always the Seecamp guy... JK. Yes, they may be better than the 3032 Tomcat Beretta, but they are a very 'niche' gun. Most folks will do better with the 3032 in a modern Beretta or 1935 in a classic Beretta in 32ACP.
Not to bring up a sad memory but I miss Gunner I loved seeing him. On a more positive note you officially sold me on pocket carry. this won't be my primary method but for a backup firearm or for more dressy occasions when I have to tuck in my shirt in or be in more fitted clothing I think this is going to be the way to go for me. I'm looking into buying a khar cm9 at the moment anyway so this works perfectly. as always stay safe to hickok, love your videos.
I’ve pocket carried a J frame, or my LCP, w/a pocket holster since my retirement in ‘97. My back-up weapon on duty was a Model 38 carried in a left front pocket (south paw) of my uniform pants.
It's now April 2022 and I have been pocket carrying for 5 years. I carry a Sig p365 and no one has ever noticed it. I doubt people are looking at your pockets, it doesn't print like a gun. I use a Desantis pocket holster, it's the fastest way to draw your gun, no shirt to pullup.
im kind of new to firearm education. only ever shot a .22 riffle when moving out of nyc going to MO to reside after marriage. i was never comfortable fireing firearms. my family was law enforcement ive seen and held theres, was never confident. i wanna say, this is my second video from this channel. i love how this man talks in these videos to us "regular" people. every other firearm video in my view only talks gun fun tech talk for reviews or anything else. hickcok channel to me talks common sense talk. just as if i was talking to a family member to explain the different firearms to me and caliper of ammunition. questions i asked my local store where mentions he said in this video. due to this man i today bought my second ever pistol. a ruger lcp max. the ruger video was the first video i have seen of this channel, but for the ruger i looked at many videos. after seeing the hickock channel video of the ruger, i made my purchase. second ever firearm purchase, im going to watch more videos and i assure you i will purchase more. i too reside in TN, northeast TN, tri cities area. im proud i live in this area that i can just as he practice in my own "backyard" . thank you so much for the fun to watch videos as well as the education such as in this video right now.
I recently started carrying my 642 with a pocket holster and I find it much more comfortable and accessible. Pocket carry has been netting the fastest draw times for me as well.
When I first started thinking about getting a gun (again) I was lucky enough to stumble across these videos by you. I can't begin to tell you how helpful they have been. You have taught me so much. Just wanted to say thanks and keep 'em coming!
Guys I love guns, not the killing part of them but engineering and sporting part. I love shooting guns on a shooting range or 3 miles outside populated area (that is a law in my country) because that's the thing that relaxes me and a way that I release excess stress. But in my country even though gun related crimes are fairly common for a population of 7 million citizens, carrying a gun legitimately is nearly impossible if you are not a high court judge or a policeman or a civil security employee (doing any kind of police work). Does having a law that allows carrying a gun actually lowers gun violence or makes you feel safer if you know that everyone could have one?
Statistically you would never need one, but if I was ever in a situation where I could have used one to save the life of someone but it was home in my safe I don't know if I could forgive myself. There is an element of peace of mind that comes with being able to defend yourself competently.
Really enjoy your videos the one I just watched was from 11 years ago I believe. Curious if you're still doing videos of course this is 2022. If you are hope to see a more recent video. Concealed carry as you're saying can be very frustrating. Especially in the hot summer months when you can't conceal carry very well. Hope you're still doing videos hope you doing well take care Gary
I just viewed for the first time. All good points, even with changes to and new models which have come out since then, making pocket carry easier. Thank you
True dat. I always put all my pets inside before shooting. Can't describe how upset I would be (or how p*ssed off the spouse would be) if one of my own bullets hurt one of my pets.
The Rohrbaugh R9 is the smallest 9mm that I know of. I don’t think they make them anymore but Kahr is still plugging away with those small single stacks! 👍🏻
I really like the air weight S&W, it's what I carry in My overall pocket. I have also cut the legs off a pair of blue jeans and traced out a pattern of my 44 S&W 29 out of one of the legs. I then stitched it up and stitched it onto my overall bib on the inside and put a couple of rivets in it just to help out and now I can conceal that thing pretty easily and if need to get ahold of it quickly it's no problem. And of course the galluses help support the weight. Country Boy Can Survive!
If you pocket carry DeSantes has the Mag-Packer similar shaped like any regular pocket gun holster. But, specifically made to carry a single magazine there are two sizes. A .380 auto sized, single stack magazine. And one that a large size for double stack magazines. The larger Mag-Packer can accommodate a single stack 1911 magazine. The Mag-Packer is fairly tight when new. It will fit your magazine after a break-in period.

I live in California and I love your videos I can't wait to move out to a gun loving state maybe Georgia just wanted to say thanks for the great videos
If you're still there I'll trade you places! We like guns in CA. We like the 2nd amendment as much as any. Don't want or need to change it. Self defense, personal protection and hunting with common sense legal firearms is where the debate should stay. I wonder about a weapon for a civilian that shreds people up and would leave nothing but soup on the ground if you shot a deer with it. Is it just because? Not to be used? Collecting? Im ok with those, too. Just please be responsible. That definition is in Webster's. 🙏
One thing I especially like about this video is that he doesn’t put his pistol back in his pocket without first removing and replacing the holster. Failing to follow this basic pocket carry safety rule is a good way to shoot off a kneecap! Every pocket carry video should stress this technique. He doesn’t talk about it enough but his experience shows in his consistency. MikeinMinnesota
@@michaelweyer5702 are you actually comfortable carrying a polymer .357magnum? one that you have shot 2000 rounds through before you actually carried it? I guess you like the 580lbs/ft (weak AF) factory loads that are much worse than the off-the-shelf 357magnum if you buy a box of antique ammo. My Underwood or Buffalo Bore 357 will produce 750+ lbs/ft energy but you can only shoot it with a (real) steel-framed .357magnum (as they were designed). I carry Glock 19 in my short cargo pants in Vegas summer. I’ve never had holster in pocket. Wonder if they make one for that size gun. I never have anything in pocket though. The drawback of course is when your in car or eating at restaurant. Or sitting anytime. Then it’s really tough to draw without a lot of obvious movement going on. I’m thing of carrying 2 guns. Glock in pocket. And the 380 on front of belt in holster while I’m sitting. I don’t tuck shirt like you. I always have long shirts that cover belt. I love the pocket though like you showed at beginning of video. So easy to draw and non threatening posture.
For many years before I retired from the PD, I carried my S&W 442 that I added in 1997 to my daily carry guns as my on-duty backup. I carried either in my pocket or on my ankle depending on the day's assignment. The world has certainly changed some since this video, but for the most part applying common sense works in most if not all scenarios for carrying your firearm.

I started pocket carry recently, and I don’t carry a compact, it G19 in size. I’m happy with the decision. It’s all a compromise comfort or efficiency. Since Chances are low I’ll ever need to pull, but need to be prepared, I compromised and went with comfort. I can still get to it quick enough if needed. With practice, it’s a good way to carry. It also very natural to go for the pocket. Thanks and God bless

Cop, Teacher, UA-camr, and Great shot. This guy has a full life.

Bless you sir. You're a Godsend for a rookie firearm owner like me. You are far and away the best instructor I've seen on UA-cam. Now a loyal follower.
He is a really great man and very good instructor when it comes to any firearm
I'm hardly a rookie with firearms, but I agree with the poster about you, Hicock45, being the BEST ON UA-cam. Even my wife, who is H3LL with a shotgun, but not a huge gun person as I am, lives your presentations here. Many thanks to you, Sir!

“I’m on vacation for three months.” Thank you, Mr. Hickok45, for your honesty. All my teacher friends want to insist that they actually spend the summers planning lessons and doing other teacher stuff.
While simultaneously griping about how underpaid they are
You can stitch a patch of denim inside your pocket to reduce the printing. Since the stitching is to the pocket it remains out of sight. You can also stich in a small bit of velcro and the other side to your holster to keep it in your pocket.
I like this guy's style. I like the way he explains and demonstrates the safety of using a firearm. Thank you for uploading these videos.
This guy is Hickok45. You will address him by his handle, please, lol.
I’ve been using the Sticky holster with a Taurus .380. Once the holster molded to the gun (a week or so), the pistol breaks clear so fast I thought I had pulled out the holster...but it was still in my pocket. Worth a look.
I own a Sticky to fit every gun I own, great versatile design for pocket or waist. 👍
Pan to the "dog squat", but keep Hickok in frame.
Brilliant!
We're pleased that such a diverse group of people seem to watch the videos, everybody from youngsters with little or no real firearms experience to folks like yourself with extensive experience.
anyone else enjoy how everytime he moves you can hear the mountain of brass he's standing on?
Yup, sounds like he has spurs.
Great channel. I learned so much watching these videos about safety, functionality, shooting techniques etc.... Hes not cocky or thinks he’s Rambo, just a regular guy who exercises his right. Very educational but fun at the same time.
Someone should introduce Hickock to the old Jynco jeans. You could pocket carry a Marlin 30-30 in those things.
JFeezy lmao
I saw a guy wearing some yesterday.
He was an English teacher. I think he has seen them.
Lol. Hell ya jynco jeans you could conceal the 500 magnum

My Ruger LCP is in my pocket every day with a Desantis Superfly holster. Every day for the past two years. .45 Kimber TLE II Ultra on my 3:00.
Now if you can only get the dog to pick up all the brass, you'd be set.
Not only have you introduced me to/taught me most of what I know about firearms, you have also inspired me to go into law enforcement. I hope I can become a deputy someday and make my county a safer place and NOT do any gun-grabbing or violating of constitutional rights!
How’s it going ?
Deputy Joey??
Are you a cop now?

I know this is a old video but you have great recoil control. Quite amazing actually, you make a 9mm look like a .22.
Thank you for enlightening me on pocket carry I am going to get a pocket holster very soon. In Missouri we can all carry this is November 2019
There are always trade-offs. A shoulder rig can be good for that. 😉
Pocket carry is mainly a warm weather thing for me, and I've found that cargo shorts that are dark-colored or patterned (camo, plaid, etc.) go a long way in helping to break up any printing, especially if I'm carrying something a bit larger like a Glock 43.
glock 43 is same barrel and grip as Hickock's g26 and g27, but 5/16 inch thinner. not exactly 'a bit larger'.
I think its funny you can hear the dog playing with his toy
I kept pulling out my ear buds because I though it was my dog in the living room

Do you need a holster to conceal carry though? In his case could he legally have the pistol in his waistband without the holster?
Personally, i never leave home without my Seecamp 32. Great pocket-carry pistol with proper ammo.
there is always the Seecamp guy...
My back-up weapon on duty was a Model 38 carried in a left front pocket (south paw) of my uniform pants.

im kind of new to firearm education. only ever shot a .22 riffle when moving out of nyc going to MO to reside after marriage. i was never comfortable fireing firearms. my family was law enforcement ive seen and held theres, was never confident. i wanna say, this is my second video from this channel. i love how this man talks in these videos to us "regular" people. every other firearm video in my view only talks gun fun tech talk for reviews or anything else. hickcok channel to me talks common sense talk. just as if i was talking to a family member to explain the different firearms to me and caliper of ammunition. questions i asked my local store where mentions he said in this video. due to this man i today bought my second ever pistol. a ruger lcp max. the ruger video was the first video i have seen of this channel, but for the ruger i looked at many videos. after seeing the hickock channel video of the ruger, i made my purchase. second ever firearm purchase, im going to watch more videos and i assure you i will purchase more. i too reside in TN, northeast TN, tri cities area. im proud i live in this area that i can just as he practice in my own "backyard" . thank you so much for the fun to watch videos as well as the education such as in this video right now.
Hope all your firearm use goes well

I recently started carrying my 642 with a pocket holster and I find it much more comfortable and accessible. Pocket carry has been netting the fastest draw times for me as well.
When I first started thinking about getting a gun (again) I was lucky enough to stumble across these videos by you. I can't begin to tell you how helpful they have been. You have taught me so much. Just wanted to say thanks and keep 'em coming!
Did you ever get a gun? If so, what kind?
A humble and knowledgeable gentleman and a great teacher.
Yes
Trigger Happy If you need guns to do that you've already lost
Statistically you would never need one, but if I was ever in a situation where I could have used one to save the life of someone but it was home in my safe I don't know if I could forgive myself. There is an element of peace of mind that comes with being able to defend yourself competently.
Those who wont allow citizens to carry for protection are the ones you need protection from.
It allows you to not be an easy target. That is all.
Thank you
That dog claimed this video as his 4:08.
Ha.... first at 2:34. Checking out the closer targets.
Ha... the only thing better would have been a full dump taken on camera behind the speaker.
True dat. I always put all my pets inside before shooting. Can't describe how upset I would be (or how p*ssed off the spouse would be) if one of my own bullets hurt one of my pets.
Oh jeez, my Lab likes to lay right in front of my targets. I swear I could shoot right over him and he wouldn't care.
Aaron Weaver LMAO!!!!
The Rohrbaugh R9 is the smallest 9mm that I know of. I don’t think they make them anymore but Kahr is still plugging away with those small single stacks! 👍🏻
Remington is making one like it they bought the blueprints for it from them.
I really appreciate your videos. Whenever I need info on a gun I look to see if you’ve done a review of it.
I've heard that they ARE very busy. I know that it took a long time on one of my orders a couple of years ago.
Can you make a video on the taurus spectrum 380 pocket pistol
If you pocket carry DeSantes has the Mag-Packer similar shaped like any regular pocket gun holster. But, specifically made to carry a single magazine there are two sizes. A .380 auto sized, single stack magazine. And one that a large size for double stack magazines. The larger Mag-Packer can accommodate a single stack 1911 magazine. The Mag-Packer is fairly tight when new. It will fit your magazine after a break-in period.

Self defense, personal protection and hunting with common sense legal firearms is where the debate should stay.

It also very natural to go for the pocket. Thanks and God bless
