Pilsner Urquell is my favourite beer full stop. Its mothers milk. A friend at work told me "Once you have tasted it you wont drink another scanky beer again". Well I tried it and only drink it now. Luckily in Dublin they have a bar where they serve unpasterurized Pilnser Urquell shipped in every month. You have not lived until you have tried that but the bottled Urquell is also great.
Ronald Theriot I'm thinking about buying Pillsner Urquell for the Canada holiday weekend this week I haven't had it since March 2017 I rember seeing a 12 pack of bottles in Bellingham Washington when I went to the United States at a Wal Mart it's a fantastic beer a classic one of the best Larger beers and the frist Larger beer to be invented in 1842 an A Plus rating from me too this beats all the Big mass produced Larger such as Budweiser Coors light Miller Corona Bud light and the European mass produced stuff such as Heniken Stella Carlsberg Koreanbourg Becks Or Fosters and Carling in the UK athough i do like Heniken and Dutch are up there with Czeck Republic and Germany and as great beer making
You ain't that far in Ireland. Book a guided trip of the actual brewery in pilsen. They still make it in small batches the exact same way they used to since the beggining, fermented in wood and all, no chemicals. It's only made and drunk there, never leaves the brewery. They will probably have to drag you out. Either the tour or you can book a room in the basement itself and they will let you have a get together and actually serve it to you. Hands down best beer I ever had or will have. It's not even like the pilsner that comes out to pubs, just a whole another level.
Of all the beers I've tried, this is simply my favorite. It's got such a wonderful flavor, extremely drinkable. Pilsner Urquell also now ships to America in brown bottles, and they've come out with a PR campaign describing how the beer is shipped cold and quickly to America, all of which is highly appreciated by us fans. I've also seen it as cheap as the $7.50 range in my area. I love this beer, and this beer channel!
This beer is shocking. How can a beer that's only 4.4% have so much body and flavor?? This is how session IPAs should be, not those bland watery atrocities. Truly a world original! 💚🍺
You should get some history lesson. This is NOT a german beer. Czech Republic, or former Czechoslovakia, was founded in 1918 indeed, but Bohemia (that is just a historical name for todays Czech Republic- simplified) has been here for more than a 1100 years. The beer is brewed in the town of Plzeň, but the name is more known in german, as Pilsner. Same situation with Czech Budweiser Budvar, and in czech Budějovický Budvar, beer from the town of Č. Budějovice. In 19th, Bohemia was part of the Austrian empire, and most people spoke german although they were Czechs. But the review of the beer is nice. Thumb up for the very original Pilsner🍻.
Yes, but from 1815 to 1866, Pilsen was part of the German Confederation and the 1st Reich (Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation). But, I understand what you mean. Thanks for watching, Tomas Prusa. I appreciate it!
@@ronaldtheriot sorry but Holy Roman empire of German nation broke up in 1806, so it couldn't be part of it. Czech lands were part of Austrian-Hungarian empire and Pilsen (Plzeň) is part of Bohemia (historical land). Czech republic was founded in 1993...Czechoslovakia was in 1918 in the end of WW1.
The Kingdom of Bohemia was part of the First Reich (Holy Roman Empire), within the German Confederation (1815-1866), and part of the Hapsburg Austrian Empire, from 1806-1918. I am not quite understanding what you are saying. Thanks for watching, Martin Volf. I appreciate it!
@@ronaldtheriot You can not say it is German, because Bohemia Kingdom(czech land) was just under political control of some german fck, but it was like union of lands, people were still czechs with czech nationality and germans german. It is like Canda is under Queen Elizabeth II, but if they brews beer, it is still Canadian beer not British. This stuff arround was more complex than just borders in European Union or United States now.
@@ronaldtheriot it was not a german beer, it's kind of ignorant for you to say that. I'm not Czech nor german, I am unbiased. your incredibly hot take that, because the kingdom of bohemia (which was culturally Czech) was a part of the austrian empire, makes the beer german, is incredibly dumb and reeks of nazi bullshit. the vast majority of Bohemians have been speaking the Czech language for a very long time. to somehow assume that calling it a german beer gives it more credibility over a Czech beer is kinda racist.
Hi, can you tell me which European beer is the most similar to American Bud Light. I used to dring BL when I lived in the States. I like strong sparkling taste of the beer on my tounge, especially cause I do not dring alcohol (including beer) often.
Thanks for watching, RallyVozac. I appreciate it! Well, I really can not think of a European beer that matches up with Bud Light, but if there is a Carling Light, it might be similar. Also, try the 4% Coors or Heineken Light, if you can get those.
As you mentioned in your video, this beer is even more amazing on draft (if the draft is well mantained). The taste is fuller and the beer head is so smooth that you can´t see the actual bubbles. Also, there are a few places in Pilsen, where you can have this beer non pausterized and unfiltered - probably the best beer I´ve ever had! Cheers
Jay, what beer did you reference toward the end of the review in comparison to this one? You said it was one of the best beers you've ever had regardless of style but I couldn't understand what you said-Stoudapromin?
Great review Ronald. I've been drinking this beer for years and tried one along with you. Pilsner Urquell literally defines the style. It's the beer others are measure by. Most certainly an "A" beer in any fair review. Laissez les bons temps rouler! ⚜🍺
Hi from Czech Republic, Staropramen is considered a normal cheap beer here whereas Pilsner Urquell is like our export good slightly more expensive beer :) nice review
Ive been drinking this for quite a few years. I used to be a Heineken enthusiast - went to the Brewery when I was 18 in '72 But this beer has it all over any other for me. I enjoyed your review and how you got more Enthusiastic as You Went Along!!
I discovered this beer in the early 80's in Louisiana and at that time, it was plentiful. Bars, and Taverns, and Restaurants had it in Baton Rouge. I never saw it on draft, not even today. Around the end of he 80's on into the 90's it just disappeared. I don know about New Orleans, but I found it in Lafayette again in the bottle only. For some reason, the distributors in Lake Charles will not carry it and I cannot get it in that region. Only the Lafayette area distributors has it. I live between Lafayette and Lake Charles and I wish i could get it locally. I would love to see what it is like on draft. Bottom line is me and my family love it. The Czech republic brews the best beers in the world in my opinion. However I love German Dunkels and Dobbels and of course their Pilsners.
One of my first and favourite beer reviews, watched this after trying my first pilsner urquel. It's in a larger brown bottle over here at a great price in our local supermarket. Great chilled in hot weather. Btw you look like you are on your way to a wedding 😄
Ron, every single time I try out a new beer I look to see if you have reviewed it yet. I smell it, taste it, savor it. Your reviews are always spot on! I'm drinking Pilsner Urquell for the first time and I must say it is very delicious indeed! You are always enjoyable to watch, you are definitely a guy I could drink a beer with! =D
I have had this beer and I would say it is very good as most are no where near as smooth to drink. The Czech people know beer like no others do and have such a great history of fine beers.I have got to get to Prague someday and check-out the good things there. Czech Republic Rocks!!!!
As for "German beer": Pilsner was brewed in 1842, Germany as a country did not exist until 1871, before that there was the Austro-Prussian War and the German confederation ceased to exist. Its like saying prosecco is German because Northern Italy was also part of the Empire and therefore the German Confederation for a couple of decades. We are of course discussing times when nationality was a totally new concept.
Well, it was developed in the German Confederation, which existed from 1815-1866, and I was developed by Joseph Groll, of Bavaria, and everyone accepts that Bavaria is and was a German state. Also, at the time, Pilsen was an ethnically Germano-Czech city. Anyway, thanks for watching, B A. I appreciate it!
@@ronaldtheriot Applying your logic, McDonald's is a czech fast food chain then. It was founded by a czech immigrant (by the way - father of Ray Kroc was born near Pilsen).
They have really had time to engineer this one to greatness. Good to hear it now travels in new brown bottles, the green ones used to have problems with the seal on a bumpy ride.
Seen this several times and thought about buying it. because I love pilsners, but I pussed out every time for no apparent reason lol. You say you don't drink to get drunk, but I do, so this would be perfect for me from the sounds of it.
The first time I had this beer, was about 20 years ago. It was sold in a green bottle and it was bold and crisp. I saw it recently and bought a six pack. The bottle is now brown and it taste different. Makes me think if they changed the formula or if the green bottle affected the taste dramatically. Needless to say, this is a great and refreshing beer at 4.4%.
I have officially found my go to summer beer. I typically save the more interesting beers for the cold Canadian winters, but in the summer time, when it's hot outside, and I just want something cold and refreshing, that's when I'm more likely to go for a macro. This is really a fantastic compromise though, and I'd call it the best of both worlds. low ABV, so not too strong, and refreshing for when I want to sit on the deck or watch the game, but at the same time it doesn't taste like water.
I miss living in Dublin and good beer on tap Pilnser Urquell was my favourite. I think it was Davy Byrnes in was on tap but also in a lot of other places.
As a citizen of Czech republic I would have some argues about the Czech history facts in the video...but even though Iam very happy that there are people like you who has a passion for a beer and for the Czech beer especialy :)...for those who would like to try something alse, I would recommend Czech Beer called Bernard....this one I would review as the best right now...:)
Thanks so much for watching, Tomas Vylet! I appreciate it! If I see that Bernard beer, I'll check it out. And, I thought what I had said about Czech history was accurate.
Ronald Theriot What he probably meant was, that modern Czech republic originated in 1993. In 1918 it was Czechoslovakia and after that there were some changes during ww2.
Tomáš Výlet I was born in Czech Republic and I must agree, Pilsner Urquell is maybe the best, but Bernard, especially their "Sváteční ležák" is also excellent beer.
Now this a classc.. I am privileged to have drank it on Tap in Prague Czech Rep a few years back.. UK versions have had the ABV reduced now for a few years but it really hasn't affected the taste much..
I come from "Czechia" and I had a lot of very good beers, but Pilsner simply remains the best. There are tastier, more complex beers out there but Pilsner hits the exact point where it has the amazing taste but you can easily drink several of them, any day. You can't go wrong with ordering a Pilsner Urquel, or Plzeň as we call it. A must beer geek experience is going to a Pilsner Urquell certified pub which are all around Czech Republic, and order a Plzeň from a huge tank. You get one in a cold and wet glass with a beautiful consistent foam which conserves the taste and freshness under it. You have to drink it fast so you enjoy all the fresh phases of the beer.
@@ronaldtheriot I am having trouble getting on my FB page right now. Any other suggestions? By the way, was Faulstaff a New Orleans beer? I miss Faulstaff and I miss Jax. I went to school in the New Orleans area and I knew one of the Faubachers. I think his name was Chris. Those were some really good beers that are gone for good. I remember when they changed the label on the Jax can by adding "A Faubacher Family Brew" and then they just quit making it all of a sudden. The next thing I knew was they built this really nice shopping center on the river. It was a great place, but it does not explain what happened to Jax. And if it wasnt for the Bensons Dixie would have died long ago.
@@ronaldtheriot Since I could not get the image to you, I will just tell you what it was. Several Years ago, I found on Amazon the Rubber beer mats that are personalized by beer brand. I have two of Pilsner Urquell. A long skinny mat and a large square one. Both are really nice. I just thought you may have wanted to see them since they are rare. I also have one that you will never see again. A large Dixie Beer mat. It is really not anything important because I guess you have seen them all. I was just trying to be friendly and add to the conversation.
I just love pilsner beer, my favorite style and I can't get enough of it. Have you had a chance to try Trumer pils? If not, I am sure you would love it. Would love to see your review on that beer. Cheers!
thank you sir for such an insightful review :D. i am new to beer haven't tried much outside the big boys like molson, miller, guiness, keith, sleeman. thought i would try an export starting with a czech beer and bam! insta love! hahah this one defined "beer" for me.made me look it up. nice to know it's rated high in your book too. best wishes
Love your reviews, I left a comment on another video of yours, but if you ever come across a Polish beer called Okocim (also known as O.K. beer) it is labeled as a pilsner, it's 5.6 abv. I really dig it, we can get it pretty easily in Arizona, don't know if it's available in your region, but it's not expensive, we get 4 pack pints here for about 6 or 7 dollars
Love the sharpness of this beer with a sharp, hoppy and crisp bitterness. Strange thing for me is I got a can of it in Taiwan and it had that cheesy smell that beer gets when the pipes are yeasty/bacteria filled....I hope it was just a bad one and it hasn't changed. I also prefer the Staropramen compared to this but they are both fine.
**I was actually far ahead of the 'trendy fad' of microbrews and exotic imported beer, by about 8-10 years. Only 2 stores in my tri-state region actually carried microbrewed or exotic imports in the 80s and early 90s. It was at the better of those 2 stores(State Line Liquors in Elkton Md) that a friend and I first discovered quality beer. They carried over 100 different exotic imports and many American microbrews.** They allowed you to buy mixed 6 packs, so they had empty six pack holders by the beer case, and they sold single bottles of every brand, so you could buy 6 different beers at only 10% higher than the 6 pack price of just 1 brand. We tried a LOT of different beers, and Pilsner Urquell was in my top 3. The problem back in the mid 80s - early 90s, was that it was relatively common to get skunky Pilsner Urquell, because the microbrew fad had not hit the region yet, so it tended to sit in the store longer than it should have. That's because 99% of people DIDNT drink microbrews or exotic imports! They ONLY drank mass produced standards like Bud, Coors, Miller, Stroh's etc. Their choice of imports was limited to Molson, St. Pauli Girl, Becks, Corona, Fosters and maybe Guinness/Harp. That was it! So, we long haired "rebels without clues" would some times end up at preppie/yuppie parties carrying 6 packs of Pilsner Urquell, New Amsterdam Amber, Anchor Steam or Sierra Nevada. The house would be filled with people wearing $125 sweaters and kackis, who would give us odd looks, as they confusingly asked us what the hell it was that we were drinking, and why weren't we drinking THEIR choice of exotic, high caliber beer, Michelob! I'd bet every last penny that within 8-10 years, those same yuppie/preppies would have switched away from Michelob to P.U., but would now be looking down at people who drink 'lowly Michelob'! 😂
@@ronaldtheriot I like that, too. Tend to travel from Bavaria to Czech twice a year just to get some really good beer there. Cheers and great channel btw
Interestingly, you mention around the 4:00 mark that this is about 8 or 9 dollars for a 6 pack (in January 2014). I was able to get this for 8.99 today and it is of course enjoyable. Yet I am astonished in our current inflation situation with bloated prices on beer(particularly at gas stations and grocery stores rather than a chain like Total Wine) - that this beer's price has remained the same. Anyway, enjoyed the throwback review. Cheers Jay!
I forgot entirely about you dressing up for beer reviews. Pretty distinguished, as is appropriate for this classic pils. And don't forget the role the WATER plays, man! I can't recall wearing a vest since I was maybe 15, for some church supper, maybe. In college I sported a corduroy jacket, for a while. The tie is great. I'm shopping for a forest green vest, and I bought this pistachio-colored satin tie I've never worn that's waiting for it. Maybe to bury me in! :D
There is a couple of certain bars in prague that sell pilsner in its freshest form . Be sure to try it from them bars and give it a proper deserved rating.. 10/10 for me :) also if someday you visit prague try klaster or bernard.... Mmmmmm
It's a wonderful beer, the bitterness of the Czech style pilsners is a nice change from the German or European versions. Though if looking for something more sessionable I think I prefer the German ones. Couldn't complain about any of them, Bitburger had the highest bitterness of the German made ones I've had, Warsteiner is a bit more mild but still great. How anyone could in good conscious rate this as -B like they do on beer advocate is beyond me.
just found this beer in my liquor store for the first time. i bought a single, 500ml can for about 3 dollars canadian. i got to say... ill be buying this again. but of course, i had to watch your video on it before even opening the beer
I' am on my drill of two six pack of pilsner urquell here in baton rouge, and there is not challenge fors this beer.beer is for me a cult.so i will be able to try,the bernard, klaster or sparotramen to compare.I saw another one pliny the elder.where to buy them?Ronald can you help me with these.
They are making this beer in brown bottles now for shipment preservation its states now on the bottle. This is a great beer, i like it straight from the bottle cold. Liked the review 👍
Great review of this wonderful beer! And if you think that this beer is good you should try out the unfiltered version which is so friggin good! Kind of hard to get to try though. Cheers!
I got a 12 pack for $8.97 befor tax from Albertsons in Southern New Mexico. It had a good date , i don't know why i got it so cheap. Maybe its not selling in my town.
Great vid ! 0:27 The outer rims of the nowadays Czech republic that are called the Sudeten were always part German till the end of the WW2 . Its not a German beer .. infact it never was. You could say that the first versions of this type of beer (which were brewed up from 1842 until 1845 by Josef Groll who was of German nationality ) were sort of kind of littlebit German .. even though all the ingredients were of Bohemian land and the City brewery of Plzeň who employed mr. Groll was founded built and run by a collective of wealthy czech buisnessmen such as Emil Škoda and the residents of Pilsen who were largely of czech nationality. Huge amounts of money was invested into the brewery after the brew of the year 1841 ended up in a fiasco and was considered to be almost undrinkable by local drinkers, some pilsner citizens even mortgaged their belongings to be able to contribute.
Just tried this for the first time tonight. I really like it, it is nearly as tasty as Grain Belt Premium :) Once I get through the six pack, maybe I will even enjoy it more than Premium. The problem is that I am so accustomed to the sweetness of the American lagers and without the corn, it feels like something is missing from this fine beer. I do like the roasted malt and hint of hop bitterness, as you noted.
+Daniel Page Grain Belt...well, I did find it interesting to explore those brands, and I can't wait to try the Cypress Blanc lager, which should be tres interesting.
yeah its a fantastic beer pillsner Urquell it has a great biter taste really fresh and smooth a great example of a good quality beer way better than Bud light and miller lite Natty lite that college students drink or young adults drink this beats all those beers by a huge amount if there is one beer I recommend that anyone try in there life time it's Pillsner Urquell
Best beer I've ever tasted. I had this on tap in the old town square in Pilsen, Czech. Fantastic beer. Budvar (had that on tap in České Budějovice) is my #2 (best lager in the world) & Staropramen a superb #3. Best on tap. All are Czech beers. Czech is a beautiful country. I'll be going back.
In Australia it comes in a brown 330mL bottle 4.4% and has a different shape. Very very very bitter and no surprise it gets a high rating, bitter rates well, too bitter for me but I can see why you liked it. Good bready taste, clean water (always clean from the Czechs), just that the bitterness gets overwhelming after a few sips.
+Larry Alexander We get a new bottle and label design, here, too, Larry Alexander. Sorry that you don't much care for its bitterness. Well, thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Here in Sweden we have 500 and 330 ml glass bottles and also 500ml aluminium cans. (500ml bottles are 3.5%, the other 4.4% alcohol). When I first tried Urquell I thought it was too bitter, but now I don't mind. I do prefer the slightly less bitter but more spicy Starobrno (I can feel the spiciness stick on the tongue after a small bottle).
Pilsner Urquell is the best beer I've ever tasted (on tap in Pilsen old town square). Then again I prefer pils style beers. Staropramen was also superb, just a bit more sweet at first taste. Both are A+ beers to me, along with Budvar. My 3 favorite beers.
I just had this one and compared to Budvar Czechvar.I have to say I like Budvar than Pilsner Urquell, because it's sweeter. Just discovered this youtube channel and you make great videos.Greetings from Romania :)
This beer is very strange (in a magic way). While you drink it, the warmer it gets the better and fuller it tastes. You never get tired of it. It even worked at room temperature without any cooling for me. Taste explosion! There is almost no other beer (maybe Czech or German black beers) that work this way.
I really enjoyed this one. Poured it into a mug. This ranks high on the list of lagers next to the best of the best German imports...I hope the recipe is kept the same in case AB Miller is acquired by Anheuser Busch.
I prefer the euro pilsners and lagers as well. I dont care for the US cutting of the hops with corn or what not. My friends refer to this style as "skunked" but I know its an appreciative or aquired taste that really wins hands down in the end.
Revisiting this one tonight/this morning (for about the 500th time!)... you are right on the money with your appraisal. I'm enjoying it as always. However, I have to say that Alpine Spring is markedly better (it's that salty, super-fresh quality that PU doesn't display quite as much). A great style nonetheless.
History facts corection: Bohemian kingdom was surely part of A-H Empire that time, but that does not mean that all the Bohemian seases to exist .. the surounding part of CR you are reffering to as mainly Germanic was called Sudety or Sudeten land and yes its true that there were towns with more than 50 percent of poppulation beeing germans.BUT Pilsen was not part of that area. It is true that the 1st brewmaster was Bavarian but he was hired by bohemian town citizens who founded the brewery. And second part the most important thing that makes Pilsner so unique is the water and ingredients and those were surely Bohemian the famous Hops from Žatec called červeńák witch gives the beer that strong aroma and full body...P.S: Best one is freshly drafted in 0,5 liter big glass with ear and of course in Plzeň ;)
Thanks for your comments, ElKaramel. I appreciate it! I'v had Pilsner Urquell on draft, here, but never in Europe, of course. I appreciate you watching!
You are welcome. I am glad that people around the world likes our liquid gold :) If you have a chance to get drafted PU maybe you want to try thing we call "Šnyt" it's the half liter glas or pint (i think thats not such difference) and the glass is filled only on first time ( should be like 50/50 beer and foam) and enjoy ;)
They say pilsner urquell is one of the best beers in the world, i know cause i m Czech. BUT, an import bottle doesn't do it justice like original draft at a Czech pub.
ronald, try this, one pilsner urquell and second a beck's .the experiment was involuntary, the result was that i do not recognize the flavor or taste of the beck's then i take the second beck's and it was similar as the first one.both beck's we're still lager but missing the flavor, and then comes the pilsner urquell "wao",ha ha ha! no variation in the whole flavor and taste of a mother flower beer.Like a big black hole in the universe swallowing any other planet.thank i discovered it here in baton rouge la.
Your videos are always very pleasant to watch. Just as an anecdote: (Note that I am from Germany) When I was in the 9th grade (aged 15) our teacher of political science hold a long speech about Pilsner Urquell and about it's drinkability and that it was the best beer in his opinion. And this was not related to andy subject matter. It was more like: "*Talking about Pilsen* Ah, Pilsen, yeah that city reminds me of that beer.... listen....") And this even before the legal drinking age of - by US standards early - 16. Nobody and nobody's parents or anyone else has objected. Would that be legal for a teacher in the US? :D (I guess, not)
David Sch in Germany the Drinking age is 16 for beer and wine and 18 for hard Liquor right and about your teacher talking about beer in your class that probably wouldn't be allowed in the US I'm from Canada and my English Teacher got upset at a few of my classmates taking about drinking beer this was when i was in 9th grade hrere in Vancover in 2008 . so In Canada and the US it wouldn't be allowed although our age limit for alchoal is 19 or 18 in Quebec Alberta and in Manitoba. where the Drinking age in United States is 21. but yeah your Teacher and other beer fans like myself are right I started drinking Pillsner Urquell last year in October 2015 and it's one of my favorite beers it has a great flavor and that nice bitterness and smooth drink ablity it's such a great Quality beer if there's one beer I recommend anyone in the world to try it's Pillsner Urquell
The funny thing is that there was a story about a teacher here in Canada Vancouver Edward Lefergey who drank Alcohol before Chaperoning the 12th grade senior prom which is called Dry grad here in Canada and supposed to keep kids from drinking alcohol at prom. Apparently he had 2 drinks beforehand and while at the prom made comments to some of the students like is he even graduating to a students mom and later denied he was that teacher and said to a girl your boyfriend looks good but you can do so much better and pulled his shrit sleeves up and flexed his muscles. This was in 2017 and he was suspended without pay
Anyone who's been to the Czech Rep. & drank this beer fresh knows that it's pointless to drink the imported version that we get here in the U.S. It's simply not the same beer in any respect! The bottled import does this great beer no justice!

Yes, I understand, Deloix. And, thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Hallo from Germany, and thanks for this presentation of my favorite beer. Best regards from Dresden / Saxony to the U.S. !!! :-)
Thanks, Axel Schneider. I appreciate you watching! Best wishes, back to you, in Dresden!
we also love u brothers.

@@Falcey yes, a fine Czech Plzeň beer
A very nice beer to be sure. Cheers, grabbed it on your recommendation a couple weeks ago. They have it in tall single cans here.
I agree. It's one of the best beers, in the world!
one of my all time favorites
It's great, LT!
Just tried it tonight for the first time. Stellar review Ron and spot on! Stay tuned for the review! It gonna be good!
Excellent, Bill! I'm glad you liked this gem!
Cheers
I should do a draft version review of it, MrChiaak. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
It depends on the guy ur getting the beer from... Only pros can give u the GOD beer u want from draft
Happy new year Ron. Keep reviewing beers.
Thanks, BS, and the same back to you!
Jay, what beer did you reference toward the end of the review in comparison to this one? You said it was one of the best beers you've ever had regardless of style but I couldn't understand what you said-Stoudapromin?
Oh, it's called Staropramen, Paul. Thanks for watching!
Great review Ronald. I've been drinking this beer for years and tried one along with you. Pilsner Urquell literally defines the style. It's the beer others are measure by. Most certainly an "A" beer in any fair review. Laissez les bons temps rouler! ⚜🍺
Thanks, John, and you're right. This defines the style. Let the good times roll!
Hi from Czech Republic, Staropramen is considered a normal cheap beer here whereas Pilsner Urquell is like our export good slightly more expensive beer :) nice review
Ah, thank you for the information, data00entity. Greetings to you, in the Czech Rep., and thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Love it!
It's a world classic!
Ive been drinking this for quite a few years. I used to be a Heineken enthusiast - went to the Brewery when I was 18 in '72
But this beer has it all over any other for me. I enjoyed your review and how you got more Enthusiastic as You Went Along!!
Ha-ha. I do get excited, about some of these beers, it's true. Thanks for watching, Ken R. I appreciate it!
I wish you could get it. Thanks for the good comments, Vespasion, and I appreciate you watching!
One of my first and favourite beer reviews, watched this after trying my first pilsner urquel. It's in a larger brown bottle over here at a great price in our local supermarket. Great chilled in hot weather. Btw you look like you are on your way to a wedding 😄
Ha-ha. Thanks. Well, I sure would like to see those big bottles. Thanks for watching, Michael Cummings. I appreciate it!
In my opinion, this is one of the best beers on the planet. I've enjoyed it in bottles and on draft.
I can not detect any negatives with this beer, trav.

Hey, thanks a lot, Martin Hedgecoke. I appreciate those kind words! I also want to thank you for watching my channel!

I have had this beer and I would say it is very good as most are no where near as smooth to drink. The Czech people know beer like no others do and have such a great history of fine beers.I have got to get to Prague someday and check-out the good things there. Czech Republic Rocks!!!!
I'd like to go there, myself, one day. Thanks for watching, Bob Airhart. I appreciate it!
Wow! Thanks for the recommendation. Do any USA craft beer approach the quality of this Pilsner Urquell?👍🙏
Well, yes, some do, but none of them are pilsners, that I can detect.
I just had one today this beer hits a home run for me every time.
Definitely, EVERY time!
Cheers, having this one again, awesome beer!
A world classic!
Yes, this is a world classic beer! Thanks for watching, Breakfast of Champions. I appreciate it!
Seen this several times and thought about buying it. because I love pilsners, but I pussed out every time for no apparent reason lol. You say you don't drink to get drunk, but I do, so this would be perfect for me from the sounds of it.
Well, it is a bit pricey for "getting drunk" purposes, I think.
Just tried it out yesterday. I knew you'd have a review for it.

melvin melendez I just adore Pilsner Urqell, melvin.
It was probably the old green bottle, affecting the flavor. I love it, too!
Wait what? i have never seen a pilsener in a brown bottle. Then again I live in the czech republic
@@aturefrati7407 I live in the US and just picked up a 6 pack today. They are in brown bottles.
You're right. It is just a great, great beer! Thanks for watching, Blake Walker. I appreciate it!
I miss living in Dublin and good beer on tap Pilnser Urquell was my favourite. I think it was Davy Byrnes in was on tap but also in a lot of other places.

Just bought a six pack yesterday. The bottles are light brown now but back to 11.2 oz. Delicious!
1qwasz12 11.2 ounces. That .8 will add up (or subtract up) with a six-pack. It's good beer, though.
Tomáš Výlet yeah i was just going to say that, a few of the facts seem a bit off
Which facts? Thanks for watching, genuine_legend. I appreciate it!
It's sickening- that reduced abv thing.
Ronald Theriot Sure is Jay but its for tax reasons to keep the price down..
I understand, not to say that I agree with the tax, though.
Aaron Chand
We can't get the UK version, though.
+Ronald Theriot im having my frist Pillsner Urquell right now Jay it tastes really well a mangnifcent Beer

I totally agree, Jan Valis, and I would love to visit that location. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Fun fact:
This beer used to have less alcohol in it, but because of some EU-regulation-stuff they had to raise it to be able to call it "beer".
Whew! I never knew that! Thanks for watching, Zuzana Sucha. I appreciate it!
Thank you EU!

I have an Iphone image I am sure you would like to see but I dont know how to insert it here in the comments. How can I get this image to you?
You could sent it to me on FB. I can be found in the group, Alcohol Legs. Ah, I remember when that Don's was in Henderson.
Ah, yes. I have heard of that beer, and seen photos of it, but we rarely get Polish beers, in Louisiana, sad to say.
Sounds like a Great beer will look to try it Cheers !
It's really delicious, K_S!
Yeah, the tap line cleanliness can be a real issue.
I can only say that we in Pilsen wash our feet in Staropramen. :-) :D

Oh, well...Thanks for watching, Htm Bida. I appreciate it!
They carried over 100 different exotic imports and many American microbrews.**
They allowed you to buy mixed 6 packs, so they had empty six pack holders by the beer case, and they sold single bottles of every brand, so you could buy 6 different beers at only 10% higher than the 6 pack price of just 1 brand.
Ha-ha. That's a great story! Thanks, so much! I appreciate you watching, Patrick McLeod!

Thomas Vautour It certainly is very pleasant.
Cheers Jay!
Wow! That's a great 2022 price! Thanks for watching, Shane Blair. I appreciate it!
If I had a dollar for ever time I dressed up, I'd have only a few dollars. Thanks, WB!
There is a couple of certain bars in prague that sell pilsner in its freshest form . Be sure to try it from them bars and give it a proper deserved rating.. 10/10 for me :) also if someday you visit prague try klaster or bernard.... Mmmmmm
Gman Friel Oh, yes. I bet I'd love all of them, GF!
Yeah, you're right. A "B-" is outrageous!

Ah, so it was a very rocky beginning, eh? Thanks for watching, Augusto Pinochet. I appreciate it!

I love all three of them, and I would like to visit the Czech Republic! Thanks for watching, Snuffy Ballparks. I appreciate it!
Staropramen sucks, top 3 beers in Czech Republic is Pilsen, Poutník and Únětice
If anyone wants Czech beer that isn't as bitter I'd suggest Krusovice Imperial. Same price where I live as Urquell.
Pilsner Urquell is the best beer I've ever tasted (on tap in Pilsen old town square). Then again I prefer pils style beers. Staropramen was also superb, just a bit more sweet at first taste. Both are A+ beers to me, along with Budvar. My 3 favorite beers.
I agree that those three are outstanding & delicious beers.
whats crazy is that most czechs hate the others and only like pilsner, as an english person i like all
I just had this one and compared to Budvar Czechvar.I have to say I like Budvar than Pilsner Urquell, because it's sweeter.

This beer is very strange (in a magic way). While you drink it, the warmer it gets the better and fuller it tastes. You never get tired of it. It even worked at room temperature without any cooling for me. Taste explosion! There is almost no other beer (maybe Czech or German black beers) that work this way.
I'd never get tired of it. Thanks for watching, Cosmo. I appreciate it!
Czechvar is also like this much better fi you let it warm up for 15-20 min out of the fridge

Yeah, and it's not skunked, anyway, if light doesn't hit it, bjjbrawler1. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!

However, I have to say that Alpine Spring is markedly better (it's that salty, super-fresh quality that PU doesn't display quite as much). A great style nonetheless.
+Greg B. Yes, it surely is a good one. You think Alpine Spring is better than Pislner Urquell?
Absolutely.
At least in the incantation I sampled it in.
You may need to revisit to see...
I got this in a can and it had 1842 on that can.
Right, that's the year! Pretty neat, because I've not ever seen the canned version, here. Thanks for watching, Daniel Wells. I appreciate it!
I think I would like that!
They say pilsner urquell is one of the best beers in the world, i know cause i m Czech. BUT, an import bottle doesn't do it justice like original draft at a Czech pub.
I am sure you are correct. Thanks for watching, MarkoTiano. I appreciate it!
Best beer in the world..👌
I love it! Thanks for watching, PAVEL JAKL. I appreciate it!
You need to try the Unpasturised stuff in the Czech Republic. The bottled stuff is poor compared to that.
I am sure you are right about that, vivamorrissey1. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
You should go to Pilsen and make a video about it
I'd like to do that! Thanks for watching, Atur Efrati. I appreciate it! Yes, this beer is a world classic!
ronald, try this, one pilsner urquell and second a beck's .the experiment was involuntary, the result was that i do not recognize the flavor or taste of the beck's then i take the second beck's and it was similar as the first one.both beck's we're still lager but missing the flavor, and then comes the pilsner urquell "wao",ha ha ha! no variation in the whole flavor and taste of a mother flower beer.Like a big black hole in the universe swallowing any other planet.thank i discovered it here in baton rouge la.
+melvin melendez Yes, it is difficult to top the terrific Pilsner Urquell, melvin.
🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 out of 5. Only beer I drink, cheers!
Excellent! Thanks for watching, Trespasser. I appreciate it!
So...this is some beer guy.
So...that's right. Thanks for watching, Fellow Worker Gritty. I appreciate it!
:D (I guess, not)
Thanks for watching, David Sch. I appreciate it! It would be legal for a teacher, perhaps, but very unwise, I think.
David Sch in Germany the Drinking age is 16 for beer and wine and 18 for hard Liquor right and about your teacher talking about beer in your class that probably wouldn't be allowed in the US I'm from Canada and my English Teacher got upset at a few of my classmates taking about drinking beer this was when i was in 9th grade hrere in Vancover in 2008
. so In Canada and the US it wouldn't be allowed although our age limit for alchoal is 19 or 18 in Quebec Alberta and in Manitoba. where the Drinking age in United States is 21. but yeah your Teacher and other beer fans like myself are right I started drinking Pillsner Urquell last year in October 2015 and it's one of my favorite beers it has a great flavor and that nice bitterness and smooth drink ablity it's such a great Quality beer if there's one beer I recommend anyone in the world to try it's Pillsner Urquell
Hey Ron good news I just picked up 15 single beers from Madison county so the beer reviews will continue!!!!!!!
Awesome, brandon!
What state is that Madison County in? We have one here as well, and I am on the border of it.
Mississippi
I'm in rankin county
Cool. I didn't know if you meant NY. Madison County NY is one of the most famous counties for growing hops and providing specialty malts to brewers.
Anyone who's been to the Czech Rep. & drank this beer fresh knows that it's pointless to drink the imported version that we get here in the U.S. It's simply not the same beer in any respect! The bottled import does this great beer no justice!
+Ronnie Compton It's not pointless, because I enjoy it, Ronnie Compton. Hey, thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
I miss living in louisanna
Sorry, man. Well, thanks for watching, John Reagan. I appreciate it!
