Louisiana Beer Reviews: Pilsner Urquell (duo review)

- 4.4% alcohol. Introduced in 1842. Brewed in the Czech Republic by Asahi.
"Pilsner Urquell’s signature flavour balances the sweetness from triple-decocted malt and the bitterness from Saaz hops. The thick head of dense, wet foam adds smoothness and seals in flavour and aroma."

Great video! Pilsner Urquell is absolutely world class. No grapefruit, no pumpkin, no chocolate, no kale. Just a real and world class beer. And you two guys are world class crazy entertaining. Thanks for the show!
You're welcome, and you're right about the beer. Thanks for watching, Roo. I appreciate it!
It's a shame and a disgrace I don't see this anywhere. It's arguably the World Best Beer.
You can no longer get it?
@@ronaldtheriotwe get Pilsner Urquell in the 500ml tall cans here in Vancouver Canada at every BC Government Liquor store. It's fantastic a world classic. The OG Pilsner that inspired the rest.
We have it at our local grocery store here, along with a shitload of other great brews.
Excellent!@@kerbygator
This is what I would take if I was only allowed to bring one beer to a deserted island. It goes with everything and I could drink it everyday.
I can't argue with that.
This (& Bitburger too) is the beer that really got me hooked on this style + had huge influence on my beer drinking tendencies & preferences ever since. From 2006-2010 or so this was my favorite beer on the planet, used to get these in the old green glass big/tall bottles all the time back in the day. In more recent times have seen those 4 packs of 16.9 oz cans before and picked up more than once. Had not had PU in a few months but was at Polish bar + restaurant in Linden, NJ (Amsterdam Alley) 2 days ago .... they had Urquell on draft. Had 1 of those on tap in a Pilsner Urquell embossed mug. They had Zywiec & Czechvar on tap too and had 1 of each of those 2 very good ones also. 3 winners !
I'd love to try the draft version!
My favorite beer. Side note; Noticed the Luling Site logo on your T-Shirt. Got married in Luling back in 89. Still remember the late night drive home from NO over the Huey P. Good times.
It's a beautiful beer, and that's a neat story, EP.
I’ve been aware of this label for decades but have never tried it. Based on your review I will grab a sixer next time I see it. Thanks!
You're welcome, and I strongly recommend this.
Six?
Not enough😂😂
It's an absolute winner for sure!
You've got that right.
world class beer, world class pils, like budvar and staropramen! cheers
You've got that right.
this is in a different league to both of those....
Yeah! AWESOME Review!!
Thanks so much!
I see this everywhere and never got it yet, gonna pick it up next time im down the shops
Yes! Please do!
Every time i used to buy this, it would be skunked. Just like Heineken. But they also used to come in green bottles instead of brown. I may need to revisit this since i haven't had it in a long time.
Yes, I think the brown bottles will solve that problem.
Brown 0,33 liter bottles are used for export version of PU. Here in the Czech Republic PU bottle are always green 0,5 liter and few years ago had gold foil coating of the bottle neck and top but it got replaced with gold paper strip.
Thanks for the information, Toru Valejo. I appreciate it!@@toruvalejo6152
@@ronaldtheriot My pleasure! If you want to know more peculiarities of Czech beers - let me know. :)
my all time favourite beer of all time peiold cheers ronald and david buddy
Cheers, back to you, David. I love it, too!
thank you buddys i am sorry about your new orleans pelicans gotten eliminated brothers
This and Bitburger are hard to beat. I say 9.8 for my score on this perfect brew. Cheers 🍻
Cheers, back to you!
$8.99 is a good price - but after 4 weeks in NJ, I just got back to SE VA. Walked into an Aldi yesterday & grabbed 4 pack of Wernesgruner for 5.99 (6.35 after tax). 4 x 16.9 oz actually comes out to about 1/2 oz more than 6 pack of euro bottles. Now that’s crazy good deal/ best value for a beer of its quality level you’ll see anywhere thanks to the deal Aldi cut with them. Priced even lower than BMC stuff but multiple tiers higher of a product. Love Pilsner Urquell too of course.
Yes, it's hard to beat that Aldi deal.
There are so many Czech Beers, great beers, go to Czech twice a year , love it , and so many others.
Enjoy 👍
You're right, and I'd like to visit that place. Thanks for watching, Da Great Stoney. I appreciate it!
The beer is perfect in every way
I agree. Thanks for watching, Damian. I appreciate it!
this beer smells great- imagine that. then you taste it- it's a masterpiece. it is the original pils after all
It's a world classic!
Was cracking up to this, Dave (sorry if got name wrong?) On great form 😂😂
Thanks for watching, Ricky Durrance. I appreciate it!
A guy's great review a good Pilsner even better than Miller Lite
Even better 😂
Cheers, back to you, Tommy! Yes, better than Miller Lite.
I have to say, the 500 mL cans are the way to go in the US, or really anywhere else but Europe. I just think it travels better in a can, even with the brown bottles the use now. The have everything, "big box store" type of liquor store will usually have them, In my area (TX) that would be Total Wine and More. Other regions may have different options. But, the best way to enjoy is a fresh draft in the Czech Republic on a warm summer night with friends. Or maybe a cold ass night in the dead of winter at a pub, with some of the best pub food in the world, again, with friends. I am going to be there in a week, and cannot wait.
In Louisiana, we basically do NOT get the canned version, though. Well, thanks for watching, Keith Scott. I appreciate it!
So I picked up a 6 pack today I saw for $8.99, and I figured I'd try it. It's really good. 9.0 for me. A lot going on for a lager.
Yes, it really is a legend.
I like this from the can because it tastes like I'm drinking the more pure version. The bottles I had recently were not as fresh...and the freshness is in the bitterness. Beautiful beer, but I wouldn't session it. It's very food friendly...a big sandwich would make this beer taste fine. Bitburger is similar in taste but my favourite pilsner is Oettinger.
I'd like to someday try Oettinger. Thanks for watching, Mark of Fish. I appreciate it!
Been there Done that!!! LOL! Cheers, PROST, and Enjoy!!!!...The Booze Geek....
Thanks, and cheers, back to you!
Strike that cheers guys
Cheers, back to you, Tommy!
If you can ever find it on tap, you are in for a real treat.
I know that's true! Thanks for watching, Sigmagnat. I appreciate it!
Dang. $8.99 for a six pack of Pilsner Urquell would have been a good price a decade ago, let alone 2023.
I know, right?
Here in UK it goes for £ 2 a bottle
You guyz are privileged 😂
I got one today,(1-23-2024) for $8.99 at my HyVee grocery store here in Iowa. First time trying it. It's good.
It’s the only beer I drink.
It's a good choice to make. Thanks for watching, Jac Maclar. I appreciate it!
I have to know, why does Jay take off his hat prior to every beer taste? :)
Well, the ball caps put a shadow on my face. Thanks for watching, Bass & BBQ. I appreciate it!
Too bad the alcohol volume is so low , I like my beers at least 5.5 and up ⬆️
Yeah? Well, thanks for watching, Neil Younan. I appreciate it!
Worlds Best BEER
Please dont drink it so cold
Temperature around 10C is the best to feel the taste
😊❤
Right- don't drink it too cold. Thanks for watching, Caveman. I appreciate it.
@ronaldtheriot it is my pleasure
Here in UK there are some lovely beers but when they decide to make European beers for some reason it's not working, and all of them taste the same(mostly bad) that is why they sell them ice cold
I think its wierd how the guy to left keeps talking down to the guy on the right. The guy to the right was seriously explaining the history of Pilsner Urquell and the guy to the left just called it "nonsense"... The vibe between these two is kinda like a bully in high school?
Yeah, sometimes that's true, but I only get bullied so far. Thanks for watching, Tjorpas. I appreciate it!
Czechvar is better!
I don't agree.
is it fuck...
