Count me in as a big European pilsner fan. I happened to grab a bottle of this beer the other day as part of a mixed 6-pack haul (you can buy individual bottles from the six packs here in my local Brooklyn grocery marts/delis) and I just popped it now. Crisp, refreshing, with that nice bite. Agree with you on this one. Perfect.

1977Futre I love the Chzeck marco beers like Pillsner Urquell which is fantastic and great quality too I've just bought Budweiser Budvar to try this weekend and hopefully it tastes great last time I had budvar it was too warm and not cold enough to get the full taste the Chzeck republic Marcos like Budvar Pillsner Urquell and Steropramen put the Budwiser bud light Coors light Miller or Stella Artios Heniken Carlsberg Fosters Carling in the UK to shame did you try Budvar before how is it thanks
This beer used to be available in most of the places I’ve lived (NJ, Atlanta, Norfolk/Virginia Beach) not sure about Houston tho - right next to Pilsner Urquell & Czechvar in any of the big beer stores with a solid international/ European selection. Since about 2 years ago however it’s completely GONE. Apparently no longer exported to USA or so it seems. If you ever get back to NJ look up a place called “Amsterdam Alley” in Linden NJ. It’s an Eastern European bar n grill with lots of people inside speaking Polish and lots of lovely euro beers on tap. They gave me a beautiful Staropramen glass mug there a year or 2 ago. They always had the matching glassware for all their euro beers - Tyskie, Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen, Zywiwc - got that glass there too- among others. Too bad can’t get Staropramen here anymore - was commonplace a few years ago in stores with big selections :(
it seems that the states is finally starting to produce quality craft pilsners, as opposed to every flavor of IPA. what american pilsners do you think start to approach benchmark euro lagers like this one?
The absolute best in my opinion is Sierra Nevada Nooner Pilsner. Also, I recommend Full Sail Pilsner, Angel City Brewery Pilsner, Sudwerk Brewing Northern Pilsner , Goose Island Four Star Pils, Samuel Adams Downtime Pilsner and Samuel Adams Bohemian Pilsner.
Get your hands on Hyone pillsner from Hyone brewing company here in Vancouver Canada it's made in victoria island which is a tourist town or college town unvristy of victoria u Vic Hyone pillsner is a fantastic example of a well made craft Pillsner

No probs Ronald - Wychwood of england brewing company make the almighty 'Kinggoblin Special reserve' 6.8% Ruby ale and it is literally the best beer ive tasted in some time. No idea about the Halloween lingo surrounding it and dont let it put you off, this stuff is exceptional! Its not trendy enough to be part of the craft beer scene here yet so still cheap enough but awesome all the same. I wouldnt bother recommending unless i knew you'd love this stuff..its the dogs. Look forward to hearing what you think of it. Buy 24x of them if paying heavy on import, totally worth it. Cheers
Best is to have at tank pub in Czechia Unfiltered Staro is must try and very different from the bottle. Drinkability is huge, can drink it all day as it is with all tank beer in Czehia. Visit Golden Tiger in Prague. But there is a special note to get in.
Agree with you, Blaztv, the nefiltrovani version is very nice although there are far more better ones here. Not to mention the barley yeast beers. Part of a reason why I moved here from Scandinavia. However, think you got it wrong though on how to get it. The golden tiger only serves Plzen beer (Urquell). It is still one of the very best beerplaces in entire Prague for a Plzen - and its not even tankova. You have to be there when they open though at 15.00 to get a seat. The best staropramen nefilter in Prague, out of the brewery itself, is at vinohradsky parlament on Namesti Miru.Ronald: I am very much enjoying your rewiews, specialy the czech ones, and I am so much looking forward to the ones AFTER you've been here in the country. Its gonna change your life as of lagers and pilsners.
Yes, I know Golden Tiger only serves Pilzner Urquell, probably best outside of the actual brewery. I know of many better beers in Czech, especially when one has opportunity to drink from the tank. Svijany is one of my favorites. Had it from the tank in Liberec. I live in Poland but go to Czech often.
Excellent beer, maybe the best. My old favorite was Pilsner Urquell, but this may be better, still like Urquell for its full taste lighter alcohol, while thisone's full body, full flavor, full alcohol.. But so well balanced, not sure how anybody would think this is average..

Im resisting the urge to crack one really early in the day now 😁got a few bottles in my fridge in england while in lockdown .its a great beer alsoif you havent already try erdinger wheat beer and krombacher pils we're lucky here all great german and czech lagers readily available and pretty cheap

Get your self to Prague the city is fantastic and the beer is fantastic been twice. Drink were the locals drink though much cheaper than the tourists traps

I'm coming to appreciate pilsners more and more. If you run across a Suntory The Premium Malts (Pilsner), it's worth a try. Czech hops and German Malts.

It's a shame, really, but I was delighted to get this one sample, on that road trip.
A really good beer, tastes best in a pint glass from the tap, sat by a lake in the summer heat, in a small town in Czech Republic :D

H'mm. Good question. Well, I guess Saint Arnold 5 O'Clock Pils and Michelob are two good examples.

You should revisit Stella Artois ( genuine import from Belgium ). It not as good as beers from Czech but Stella trump all other typical euro lager.
