Very nice 1925 Wagner. I have a 1908 #7 Griswold that looks identical. It gets used on our 1930 Home Comfort kitchen wood stove. Its so great to be able to step back in time and relive how my grandmother cooked. She shared so much with me when I was growing up. Now I make use of these vintage antiques, especially during winter power failures. It fun to light the stove, heat up the waffle iron and have an old fashioned breakfast by the light of an oil lamp. Thanks for demonstrating the Wagner. ~ Diane
I would have probably used it in the house a few times, before attempting it in an uncontrolled environment… BUT WOW!!! What a beautiful iron!!! They knew how to make things back then, look how many generations this has lasted through, and STILL going!!
I've got that exact model on the way, will be making my own video too. When you fill it up, flip it over once to help spread the batter around.
Good info thanks.
if you don't want to use sticking spray, you can keep some butter out of the recipe, and use that same amount of butter on the cast iron before each waffle pour. (2 pats of butter per waffle)
Not a bad start. Appreciate you 'sharing' all the failures per se. The problem, though, is you need MORE heat.😉
I’ve got a 1922 Grizwold, looks almost identical, and it work’s AWESOME!! Golden brown crispy on the outside, light and fluffy inside!!
Looks good I want to get me one of those waffle makers
You got a sub from me.
Heat for 10 minutes, flipping every 2. Butter iron with cold stick of butter. Flip after 2 minutes, then cook another minute or two. Works on any stove.
2-4 minutes per side, depending how you like’em, some ppl do 3 min 1 side? 1.5 min 2nd side…just play with it, you’ll find your own sweet spot.
Its crazy how much it costs to buy one of these on line. Just ordered one for $195. Hopefully It will be passed down for a couple generations so I can get my moneys worth😂
