Everything is better in cast iron!! You should do a whole cast iron cooking series!
my wife tells me all the time to use the cast iron skillet
Not everything.
Agree! We need classes on how to use these wonderful things!
My favorite guy is back YES!!! Waffles baby 😆😆😆😆
I recently restored a 1920 Griswold hearts & star waffle iron and needed a recipe. Did a quick UA-cam search and discovered this video. Great recipe! Tasty and very filling, and thank-you for the tips on how to use a cast iron waffle maker!
so excited you uploaded!! i’ll probably try this for breakfast this week!
Finally a new video! Glad you’re back!
Where the heck you been? Something for tomorrows breakfast!

@@croutoncrackerjacks I'm making your pine cone ornaments for a Secret Santa
So glad to see you back. You have ruined me for any other cooking shows on UA-cam. Hope to see you on food network one day. Also the Waffles looked wonderful can’t wait to try them. Have to find the Malted Milk first.
Yay!!!! New video!!!!! Those look yummy. Can't wait to try the recipe!
Thanks for the video ! I grew up with my mom cooking waffles from scratch. She used a recipe from a very old better homes and gardens cook book in which I still have. Forty yrs later I do it for my children. Cant wait to try this recipe . I found a brand new , never used electric waffle maker from the 70s for 2 bucks at a garage sale a few years back . Yummy in my tummy !!
Missed you! Thanks for coming back, you have the best recipes!
The before and after of your waffle iron, when you bought it compared to now, is unreal. Gorgeous waffles!!
You are so thoughtful to remind people to skip part of the clip. I enjoy watching them full.
Got my Griswold #8 a few weeks ago. Seasoned it 3-4 times.
Followed your cooking ‘technique’ to the letter.
Did not use your batter recipe, had my own.
Your tips on painting butter, cooking time, heat strength, etc. were spot on! Also thickness of batter, etc.
Thanks so much! Now I will try it with your batter recipe. 👍🧇🧇
For Reals? - I found a #7- 1908 Griswold in mint condition after searching for two years. Found it in VT. It had never been stripped and was perfectly seasoned. Does yours have the spring coil handles? I held out for those, as I use this iron on our kitchen wood stove. So much fun to be using a piece of history. ~ Diane
@@dianehall5345 , yes.. Spring coil handles here.
Dangs! I think I need to make waffles soon. 😜
Great tutorial! Looks delicious!

Very excited and happy to have a video from you back in my notifications! :)
I'm envious! Years ago I picked up an old wood/coal burning kitchen stove and added it to my kitchen. On cold winter days I have it going and cook on it and bake in it (warms the house nicely). 'have always been on the lookout for a waffle iron like yours so I can try and get proficient using one on a my wood stove. Oh yea .....I LOVE MALT. A vanilla milk shake with extra malt just makes me happy..
OMG YOU BACKKK ILYSM I REMEMBER OLD MEMORIES WHEN I USED TO COOK AT HOME WITH YOUR VIDEOS ❤️

That looks DELICIOUS! I love cast iron!
A NEW VIDEO!!! And my favorite UA-camr!! You have been missed!! Also, I am still on the lookout for my waffle iron. I can't even find one in my price range that is horribly rusted!! Yours is beautiful and I know how much work it took to make it so!! Please keep posting!!
Thanks Sue! What's sad is I was at a junk shop a few month back and they had a Wagner waffle iron just like mine hanging on the wall. It had a little bit of rust on it but nowhere near what mine had. It had the wooden handles like mine and even had the base ring with it. And they drilled a fricken hole into the center of it to make it a fricken clock!!! Who does that?!?! Oh I was livid. Ruining perfectly good stuff to make it 'farmhouse chic'. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, LOL!! But I guess his trash is our treasure (well, would've been if he hadn't ruined it but I digress...). Some day you'll find one cheap. Hopefully without a hole in the middle of it! LOL!!
@@croutoncrackerjacks OH,NO!! I would have been horrified!! I'm still looking, but if I find one with a hole in it and made into a clock or some other such tchotchke, I will lose it!! You will hear me scream when I find a good one!!
Susan Robinson i got one on e-
bay for 92 bucks. It was in good shape and cleaned up nicely.
These Waffles looks so incredible and fancy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Outstanding and Thank you!
I'm a new subscriber and your food all looks delicious!!!!
Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. Thanks for this interesting malted waffle recipe. I have a 1908 Griswold #7 waffle iron that I use on our 1930 Home Comfort kitchen wood stove. The handles on mine are the cool spring coil, as our stove gets really hot! It was a pricey find at $113.00, in mint condition. I'm told I got a bargain because it was kept seasoned and not stripped. Most dealers want the #8, so I lucked out and really enjoy mine. Good to see you perfected you recipe. I look forward to trying it ~ Diane
Missed u....thanks for another delightful recipe.
Yay you’re back, you were missed! 🙂
Thanks for this! I just ordered myself an old Victor waffle iron. Will try this for sure :)

Good find!!! She’s a beauty.
I luvv it😍
Nice to see you again!
I love it gave you a thumbs up new subscriber can’t wait to try thanks for sharing blessings
$15? What a sweet score. I found a lodge cast iron pan (modern one) rusted out in a parking lot. Little steel wool and vinegar and some elbow grease and its good as new.
So happy to see you!!!?? Where have you been????? This looks so good. Welcome back. 🎄
I saw the blue notification dot ( on the side of your youtube name, letting me know you got a new vid) and i was so happy!! I love your videos! The food you make are dishes i love and i kinda struggle with , thanks for the good food!!
yay you're back!
I been binge watching your vids for a hour now
Always feels like an early Christmas when you upload a video mate
There may be another early present yet this year... ;-)
Wow, this was amazing and this looks so good to eat I think I’m going to invest in a cast iron waffle maker.
They have one with American flag stars instead of the squares, the company is Appalachian cast iron company.
Awesome! Just acquired one of these. Paid a little more than $15, but very happy. Thanks for sharing!!!
It had been a long time since I had made waffles. I decided to try a yeast recipe. It was good, but it was just lacking something, flavor-wise. So I tried this recipe, and that malt flavor was just right. I prefer waffles with a bit more structure, but I love the flavor so much of these waffles, that I'm putting up with it. 😉 This will be my go-to recipe for now on. Fast, and yummy. I've made these a couple times now, and my husband loves them.
Love this....
Our family has different types of cast iron waffle irons, including yours, and a 4 inch tall square one. We use them while out camping. Traditionally, we top them with strawberries and whipped cream. I can't wait to try your recipe in them!
Lovely presentation. Cheers from Australia.
Ha! I have one I use on an open fire at cow camp! I was looking for new recipie! Nice!!!
Looks good
Excellent Video !
Very nice!
Nice find!!
HE'S BACK
Love this waffle iron!!! You have done a fantastic work in getting that old piece in to live again! I’m so interested to know how you cleaned it? Wish you had a video of that! I know I sound crazy!
Btw, love the recipe too. Cheers from Scotland!
It took about 6 months of soaking in sodium carbonate and scrubbing with brass and wire brushes every few weeks while soaking to get it good enough. It isn't perfect by any means but I was tired of waiting so let some of the old stuff stay. It was definitely worth the wait though!
Yay!!! I've been looking for a way that's non toxic and sustainable like not buying a machine that breaks and ends up in landfills and finally found a Lehmans waffle iron for like $40? Can't remember but way cheaper than most waffle makers. Found your video today and used the recipe and advice and they came out great! We haven't ate waffles at home for at least 10 yrs because of this quest of mine! Thank you!!!
I learned a lot by watching you.
Please don’t leave anymore I kept checking to see if you had uploaded
Yummmm!! I really enjoyed your gem waffle maker and video 👍I'm desperately looking to add an iron waffle to my iron collection. I actually do crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Belgian waffles with a very similar recipe as yours . The only differences are half baking soda, half baking powder + 2-3 tbsp plain yoghurt as wet ingredients. Voila!
excellent sir very well explained
I enjoy his voice some ppl have high pitch the waffles look quite delicious
Very smart, detailed, and informative. I like the way he verbally delivers the recipe. 😳
Derrick Lowe why the 😳 emoji?
Kawaii Potato I was wondering the same thing 😂
You are the man great waffles buddy.
Welcome back
So pleased you’re back, try not to leave us so long next time ;)
I have the exact same waffle iron. I use the high temperature nonstick spray instead of butter and it works great! I actually use a very similar recipe that was handed down from my mom and I’m not sure where she got it from. My recipe asks for a little bit of cornmeal as well, and it actually really adds to that outer layer crunch in a beautiful way.(for your recipe you’d only have to use 1 tablespoon of that. Added to the other dry ingredients.)
Oooh, those look good! I'll bring the coffee. ;D P.S. Nice to see you back on the tubes.
Yippie!!! You’re back!!! I am making this tomorrow. Could you please also make some Christmas cookies? Thank you :) can’t wait for the next cooking video!
Oooh my goodness those waffles are amazing! Wow how have you been? Missed your videos
