Hi Lorraine and Chris I had bariatric surgery in 2002 for me that was the best thing I ever did but then after about 15 years I started gaining up to 189 pounds went to see my doctor. I mentioned to her that I wanted to go back to a bariatric specialist to see if I had to get it redone then we will discussing GP1 and that’s when she said sure and she put me on Zepbound so far I’ve lost 45 pounds
I love the idea of the topic “how to deflect questions about your weight loss”. I haven’t told family or friends and I know some people would freak out about the medication. 😂
@@lenadisney9261 I haven’t even told my mother. I just don’t feel like feeling with judgement and questions. Hopefully, she doesn’t follow The Downsized! 🤪
I like your cooking segments! Ya'll are such a great team. If we are waiting for the onions to carmelize, you and Laraine chit-chat. I always learn so much!
Guys! You know I’ve been begging to come over for Christopher’s cooking! Definitely include me! This was a great conversation. I believe many people who get bariatric surgery keep it private. I think they get the same “side eye” about cheating that we do. I’d love to see a panel of bariatric patients. I am very active on social and see SO many. Dr. Weiner might also be an interesting interview for that topic. Thanks for keeping me company during my trainer ride! 🚴🏼 😘
Love the stockpile talk. So many are cautious of sharing this information because so many get upset. I have a year and a half of name brand in the refrigerator in my attempts to become shortage resistant.
Congratulations on maintenance! I have been on ozempic for 2 months but paying $365 a month with discount. Just got my compounded semiglutide yesterday. Wednesday is my shot day!
I had sleeve and revision never got down to what I expected. Regained a bit due to Covid but then lost that with revision but still no where I wanted to be. Now 2 months on tirzepatide down 18 lbs I am open and tell anyone it’s part of my journey and I’m not embarrassed that I try what I can to make myself healthier all together down 90 lbs
Your Thanksgiving cooking video would be fantastic! I know you say people have it been watching them. But with time, I think you’ll get more viewers. I haven’t started the challenge of cooking yet. I will look forward to your videos
Thanks for another great video and this week’s weight loss. The holidays can be triggering for some folks, so I am glad that you’re broaching the subject as well. Anecdotally, I know some folks are talking about skipping their shots so they can “enjoy” the holidays. CD, are there some recipes where people can get flavor-packed food that satisfies the yearning for “Thanksgiving”, but portioned small enough for those who are enjoying the satiety don’t feel they’re missing out?
CD: my challenge is always I don’t actually work with recipes So I have to reverse engineer. The cooking event is essentially that idea - take fall flavors, scale them down and make them taste great but unique recipes so that are not sad shadows of another recipe. Then have a few folks with us to chat while we cook
The white appearance on chocolate is called chocolate bloom and is usually due to dramatic changes in temperature. It is still fine to eat, although I won’t eat it like that 😊
CD: THanks I am familiar with Chocolate Bloom. These Reeses also had an off taste, that was very unpleasant. Which is fine I am not really a Reeses fan, bu they are Laraine's favorite
Ha ha! So funny to hear of your colonoscopy on Monday- my husband is also getting his on Monday (tomorrow). He just started the prep so waiting for the onslaught:) momentarily. He is feeling pretty sorry for himself and says he’s starving. I just laughed. I am the one on 10 terzep and have had cheese and crackers with salmon so far today(it’s 5pm) here. I am actually thankful he is not nosing around the kitchen bugging me about dinner😊. Good luck tomorrow. Be thankful for that great sleep!
I drank the first part of the prep 🤢. I am also in the “poor me” stage and have been hungry all day! I’ve had chicken broth and Apple juice. 🧃 I’m looking forward to eating something tomorrow 🍦🍩🍔 😝
There's a hormone in our bodies that controls hunger called grehlin, and another hormone in our bodies that controls satiety called leptin. When you don't sleep enough grehlin levels rise and leptin levels fall. So you're hungrier and you get less full when you finally eat. Another tidbit I've learned about the importance of sleep: during the day as you think and process information your brain builds up toxins in the lymphatic fluid of the brain. Our bodies have a dedicated drainage system for these toxin filled fluids called the glymphatic system. The glymphatic channels only open full bore to successfully drain out the fluid with toxins and replace it with new fluid during REM sleep. That's why the day after a night with very little sleep you feel very foggy and like your brain just isn't clicking on all cylinders.
Colonoscopy. Being well hydrated helps with IV placement. That’s the worst part, then you fall asleep when you wake up and it’s over and you go home. Good luck!
Hi! I love the setting you are in, and you two seem so relaxed there. When I started tihis GLP-1 journey, mostly on compounded tirz, on Aug. 20, 2023 I weighed 235 and as of today, shot day, I weigh 156.8 on 12.5 mg. My question is: have you addressed the issue of loose skin?
Well I definitely have loose skin on my arms and thighs. I exfoliate daily and moisturize. I’ve also been using a product called Glow Fairy. I think it helps somewhat. Not really much to do about except surgery. No plans for that.
First week, down 3.6 pounds. Laid off excersize just to see if I’d still Loose, plus a little tired. However, energy IS better. Really just seeing if weight loss could happen without working out… My breakfast shake is my addiction. 30-40 grams of protein with lots of fiber. I find I am actually hungry in the morning..
I had bariatric surgery and have not tried to hide that. It slowed down my weight loss though. Most people I know who have had the surgery don’t hid it. I find GLP-1 users are more secretive and some report lying to people’s faces when asked how they lost weight. I couldn’t do that. Someone asks I will tell all in case it helps someone else.
Could you please talk about body dysmorphia? Also a conversation about living in a society that is fatphobic and navigating that while losing weight, and how people may treat us differently, how society treats fat people and how not to become a former fat person that’s now mean/judgmental to other fat people.
Label the vials on the day you open/first pierce it! That way you know an dont guess. Yes, they do loose effectiveness. Another tip make sure you rotate your stock, putting newly obtained behind what you already had.
Hi Christopher and Laraine, Talking about eating for energy to stay awake. My fiancé a Logger, he drives a lot so he likes for me to pack him fruit and fresh vegetables. broccoli, cauliflower & carrots so he can munch while he’s driving to stay awake. I’m still trying to get him on GLP-1 medication he needs to lose over 100 pounds. but he’s kind of afraid I think of the side effects, him being out in the middle of nowhere running heavy equipment and having the opposite effect of constipation 😬 But he’s really considering it because he sees how well it has worked for me and he also has sleep apnea.? So we’ll see 🤷♀️
My church puts on an event for Thanksgiving and If I make one of the 5 turkeys at least I know that protein I can eat. Most are really good about not being mean about how they comment on my weightloss but some come across with such concern that I am not healthy and maybe I should stop taking my shot. I usually say thank you but my Dr. and I have got this under control. My endocrinologist won't let me titrate up from 7.5 mg to 10 mg because my diabetic numbers are beautiful and that was the goal not weight loss. I am 5 foot 2 inches and my BMI could go down 5 more pounds but 140 lbs she says is just fine.
CD: it sounds like you are doing great. With Type Diabetes you are the reason we always say talk to your doctor - there are so many comorbidities and complications that it is great to hear your doctor is actively helping you manage your health.
I would like to start on GLP-1, to help me lose about 30 lbs. I'm a bit nervous to start. I've been watching your videos to help with the anxiety. Thank you for your time and sharing your journey.

Perhaps - we will probably do it as a live stream and have a few folks on to chat so it’s one part cooking one part talk show
Thanks again for all of the valuable information.💗
You are so welcome!
Hey Laraine and Christopher! Congratulations on your progress. I can relate to the candy being too sweet.
Thank you! 🤗
Thanks guys I always enjoy your videos 😊
Thanks for watching!

Me, too! Lots of loose skin on my upper arms and hip/thigh area. Not so much on my stomach! Hmm. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into them.

All good topics. Body dysmorphia is real. I have so many stories from my life about being overweight. All of my videos have a story or two from me!
Laraine is Mochi still dispensing Tirzepatide for new members? Also what compounded pharmacy did you get your prescription from last?
As far as I know, they are. My shipments come from Aequita pharmacy in WA. Mochi owns Aequita.
Hi Larain and Cris,
Oh gosh that candy on Halloween I think I ate too much.. it was the day after my shot.. I have a terrible weakness for candy…😭
Me too
I read somewhere that the GLP1 stays in your system for 30 days after you stop using them.
I would love to join a panel of people who had gastric bypass surgery 😊
Thanks Johnna! I’ll let you know when we can get that together
Label the vials on the day you open/first pierce it! That way you know an dont guess. Yes, they do loose effectiveness. Another tip make sure you rotate your stock, putting newly obtained behind what you already had.

I hope that you can convince him! Maybe he could start over a vacation or sometime when he could take a few days off. ❤️
LD coming from a nurse your procedure should go just fine so just enjoy your recovery period you should feel much lighter after.😊
Thanks for the kinds words ❤️

They mail me three vials for 3 months. Have you seen anything about how long the GLP1 is stable for in refrigerator? I hate to throw it away.
You just answered it, thanks

Giving yourself a shot can be overwhelming, but when you see the results, it’s worth it! 😍
My Dr. will send 3 months but my pharmacy won’t fill it
CD: ours only fills it one month at a time, but at least its there and we can move it if necessary
Good luck with your colonoscopy! You might lose another pound or two, lol.
I hope 5 🤞🏻😎
Did the GLPI shrink you? Just kidding 😂
🤔 maybe??? Probably not. My Mom shrunk too.
