    ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: Olive Oil For Dogs
    Can dogs eat olive oil and is it good for them?
    The anecdotal evidence from hundreds of dog owners I've researched say it's an excellent choice, that their dogs love it and the coat of their dog benefits with extra shine while the skin is smoother and less dry.
    With this feedback in mind here's 5 reasons to add olive oil to your dogs diet.
    NUMBER 1 is dogs like the taste. Pet parents have found that by adding olive oil to their dogs kibble meals, their dog is more enthusiastic about meal time and enjoy their kibble coated with a little olive oil.
    NUMBER 2 is olive oil contains monounsaturated fats healthy for a dog, helping to lower the incidence of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Oleic acid, squalene and terpinoids also help to protect against cancer.
    NUMBER 3 is that olive oil contains high levels of antioxidants, which includes polyphenols, vitamin E, chlorophyll and carotenoids. Olive oil for dogs keeps free radical cell oxidation in check, and slows down premature aging, so it aids in keeping your dog looking and feeling younger.
    NUMBER 4 is olive oil assists in preventing the cognitive decline linked to aging in dogs. This means olive oil can benefit your senior dog. Give your senior dog a serving of olive oil at minimum once daily, to help maintain mental clarity and sharpness.
    NUMBER 5 is olive oil helps improved circulation and breathing. It also aids the increase in blood flow and reduces the effects of Brachycephalic dogs like Boston Terriers and Bulldogs.
    For small dogs serve a one teaspoon per day, for medium sized dogs give 2 teaspoon per day and for large dogs give 3 teaspoons per day.
    So olive oil is a healthy addition to your dogs diet and I recommend that if you have a dog with diabetes or any liver or pancreatic health issues, to give them coconut oil instead.

    my dog only eats once every OTHER day..i feed my dog raw organs ,meat and bones. and half of those meals i leave rotting in a zip lock bag for atleast 2 or 3 days before i feed it to her.i feed her rotten meat,organs, and bones to keep her gut biome STRONG as it should be... she is in excellent condition .i also give her 1tbsp of extra virgin olive oil when i know her stomach is empty on the day she skips a meal..
    she looks and acts like a puppy even at 11 years old.. i can see me keeping her alive atleast 20 more years.

    My retired rescue Greyhound is now 13, he is pretty stiff and the vet said paracetamol and Metacam as anti inflammatory... I don't want to give him this long term as meds are never good long term.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +4

      Well said. Both those drugs are bad long term, vets eh.
      CBD is great for any kind of stiffness, arthritis and pain, very anti inflammatory. Shood take the stiffness right out (what country are you in, i'll send a link to a good one)
      Veg is very anti inflammatory too. Part cook, mash and serve.
      Add some flax, olive or hemp oil to food daily, plus some canned sardines and vitamin E. Great combo.

    What about salmon oil?
    What’s the difference in salmon oil
    To olive oil? Thank you so much 😊

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +4

      Both great but Fish oil is rich in the polyunsaturated fatty acids EPA and DHA (omega-3), while extra virgin olive oil is rich in the monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid (omega-9).
      Olive oil has much more fat in it than salmon oil.
      For your dog and diet balance, hemp oil is excellent for Omega-3, very similer to salmon oil but much more stable long term unlike fish oil which degrades once opened and must be kept fresh. For me personally, it's hemp oil and canned sardines to get the fats right.
      Hemp oil: amzn.to/3vDdtjX
      12 Pack Sardines - amzn.to/3vaXrj6
      With those two, all oil bases are covered and balanced.

    soo the olive oil is the best of all oils for dogs?
    because now im using cod liver oil, because it's more good than fish oil

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  Рік тому +1

      Olive oil is great and there's others like hemp oil for example. Cod liver and fish oil are unstable oils which are affected by heat, air and potential pollution from the ocean. Plus cod these days is farmed which makes it a no-no for me. Plus you can get organic olive oil and hemp oil which I like best.
      Just depends on budget and health needs. Maybe if you keep it in the fridge and use it quick, it's ok till you buy again and get the olive or hemp oils.
