Yeah man, Clapton had hit is rock bottom in the late 70s right? Sees his friend going through the same shit and you can tell Page is TRYING to play his heart out but his mind is just way too messed up. Clapton's look is one of pity and empathy.
GraphiteBlimp Yeah, it's a funny thing. I used to play with a buzz and I'd listen to the soundboard afterwards and think "that engineer really sucked because I was killing it last night". In reality, I was flubbing notes and my timing was off...So Jimmy probably thought he was playing great.
GraphiteBlimp Hearing is literally the first thing to go when you tack one on...I have literally retuned my guitar many times after a small amount of alcohol when I thought my automatic tuner was "wrong"...only to listen to it the next day and go..."oops"...
loved my Led Zeppelin since the 60's and now Jimmy Page is 71 and wrote a book full of his photos. how awesome. He did an interview on national TV and he looked great.. He has come a long way. Love you Jimmy Page
This is so well put together, it is a ballad that says it all about Jimmy but then so many fantastic tracks say so much about Jimmy, sounds the part always looks the part and plays so beautifully. A real guitar legend.
This is the absolute best version of Stairway to Heavan in my eyes. Because Jimmy Page lets you know that when all are one and one is all. To be a Rocck and not to Roll.
Clapton and Beck are truly fantastic on this, but God, Page is unbelievable. He put so much soul and emotion in his playing that the stage is almost explouding
I love this snng. I went in the concert in the 70s in alt Ga .about a month after that my best friend died I in my arms. We had stairway to haven on .And before he took his last breath he look at me and said we meet again . This song is about you. And two months ago. My sister passed away she was at the concert with me she was only 57 years old.
I have the same feeling about Page's playing . I admit I ahve owned bootlegs that wer almost unlistenable in certain parts , because of out of tune guitars , repetitiveness and 'overindulgence' ,but ... Page would then play soemthing that moved me like no other guitarist could, I dont know or care if he was 'the greatest ' but I do know that NOBODY can move me like Page when he is playing certain things. He has that ablity to convey emotion in his playing like nobody else.
What's funny is Jimmy Page isn't playing the song wrong, because he wrote it. well composed Jimmy. the 68 people who disliked this video have probably never picked up a guitar in their life. they just don't know a legend when they see one. instead people would rather listen to music generated by a computer.
I know you all have a critical ear when it comes to guitar playing that I can't see, and a song which you couldn't duplicate, but overall it sounded beautiful to me; I'm listening again!
Agree. I think this is from the bridge school benefit or ronnie lane benefit not long after the loss of Bonham. HE was struggling with demons at that time as many people would be.
He also used the double-neck on The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song and Tangerine... so he used it on more than just Stairway when playing live...
Ive a feeling it was 1984 at the albert hall london, a charity concert I went to, and he was given a good reception as he' been 'ill' for a while before this.
I hope the Jimmy and Plant would still be here for a loooonnnggg time on earth!
And John Paul Jones Ricca.Alwaysa great shame about John Bonzo Bonham tho".
Ricca Shaps 20 years More...
Yeeeeeeees
Their music (especially Jimmy's one) will always be alive!
Those looks from Clapton are enough to cut a heart. He sees his dear friend Jimmy, drug & alcohol ravaged and struggling along...and he's been there.

jimmy Rogers :( Man, if playing buzzed can affect you like that imagine how heroin affected Page!

jimmy Rogers lol that's weird. I should try that.
I've never had love for someone I've never met but there's a place in my heart for this man. Claptons look is killer in this..
Jimmy is great even when he's messed up I love his playing, he just try's so hard and it comes out so emotional
Clapton should have played the solo
+Dominick Aldrich I wouldn't call Clapton any names but no, Clapton shouldn't play the solo
***** Certainly, but I myself would rate Jimmy higher
Jimmy Page messed up on heroin still beats Clapton on his best day.
loved my Led Zeppelin since the 60's and now Jimmy Page is 71 and wrote a book full of his photos. how awesome. He did an interview on national TV and he looked great.. He has come a long way. Love you Jimmy Page
Jimmy you are awesome and always will be..
my only regret is not being alive to have seen this in person.
thats why jimmy page is legendary, because no one can play like him :)
the legend, even when his playing while under the influence, still manage to have his own style !
Thats right kids. No keyboards or computers or Guitar hero here. One man. Putting his spell over -thousands- of people.
This is so well put together, it is a ballad that says it all about Jimmy but then so many fantastic tracks say so much about Jimmy, sounds the part always looks the part and plays so beautifully.
A real guitar legend.
the imperfections are essential to a raw, live performance...
Jimmy is awesome
Mr. Page, what a cool dude. Fucking high, enjoying a lot his trip and still kicking-ass like that. What a fucking legend

That was beautiful. A musician and his guitar. My favorite song of all time. So glad this was recorded!!

Jimmy Page is incredible.Has to be the best of all time in my book.
the thing about jimmy , is that u dont listen to it , u need to feel it
Exactly that's how I think too
Maicon Nery: so true. i felt it. i felt a strong urge to regurgitate.
Maicon Nery justly like I think
This should be like the head line on rolling stone magazine or something equal :D
Ditto, Maicon

love. love. loooove.
Similar to Hendrix his guitar style is full to the brim with emotion.
I have the same feeling about Page's playing . He didn't write, it's a rip off of a Spirit song, and most of Led Zeppelin's music was stolen from old Blue musicians.
@@TASPlasma who knew them and listened to them before LZ? No one.
He may be one of the best guitarists of all time. Jimi Hendrix might be the only one who’s better. He’s incredibly good.
with love
I know you all have a critical ear when it comes to guitar playing that I can't see, and a song which you couldn't duplicate, but overall it sounded beautiful to me; I'm listening again!

Yes, Page's history is interesting to me, one of my favorite guitar players. :)
He also used the double-neck on The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song and Tangerine... so he used it on more than just Stairway when playing live...
wow.5 years before I was alive...hard to believe that this was performed after Led Zeppelin was no longer a band..Jimmy Page rules
Ive a feeling it was 1984 at the albert hall london, a charity concert I went to, and he was given a good reception as he' been 'ill' for a while before this.
