My Favorite Song Of All Time. This REALLY Does Take Me Back To The 70,s
Maureen Brown your generation had the best bands ever. It must have been such a privilege to witness these musicians live
Go dad 🤣🤣🤣
Max, you're dad is absolutely in the right!
That drummer has the face of the happiest man on earth
how could you not be , this is the best solo ever made ever
It seemed to me that I was the ONLY ONE who got on this! I was buzzing off him. I don't see how that isn't the most noticeable thing about this video, after the amazing rendition by David Gilmour (in a league of his own I believe. The man is early 70's here cool as ya like, no bouncing about giving it ego as most) I had to bring it to every person's attention I've watched it with. As one post here says yea look who he's playing with. I said that smile is him saying"WOW I'm Drumming with DAVID GILMOUR...!!!!! Soon as I seen him. Love this version
Looks to me like David's having a high time too. Not so many grinnings but plenty of picking!
Maybe he is! ... Who knows? 😂
Si yo estuviese allí, también lo estaría.
WHO ARE HERE TO LISTEN IT AGAIN IN 2024 🤔🤔🤔
U r not alone ma dear I'm here by ya side were pinkflyod is.luf from manipur kuki.
Always listening
And to think that we can watch/rewatch this at our leisure. What luxury.
We all are let’s hope Roger and David make a pact soon!
Me, Flávio. From Santa Catarina, South of Brazil.
Possibly the best live guitar solo ever. No words can describe it. Like angels screaming, just pure emotion. I'm 65 now & love most rock, but always come back to this. It will never fade.
Makes me cry with the fender. My leaving song if you know me you'll know what it means to me
I'm 75 and I agree 😊
Anche io la penso come te ciao coscritto
Even Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Paganini get on their knees when they lissen this..............
Me too. Simply the greatest version of the greatest rock ballad ever gifted to the world.
I like Eddie Van Halen's reason for loving David Gilmore. "David Gilmore is the benchmark of less being more. He has proved that shredding and fast playing is not the benchmark of mastery level. Gilmore never wastes a note; he builds his solos like a painter; every note, every bend, every tonal inflection has merit...David's solos paint a picture in the minds of his listeners. Something that really is a testament of his talent as a guitar player"
100% agree.
Beautifully said by EVH!
As a Brit we celebrate "less is more!"
Well said
Very well said!

That's fucking cynistic. But it's brilliant. :-)
Man 1972 Floyd concert!!
lmfao
One of the best guitar solo's ever. Everyone in the band is just smiling while he does his solo and they're all jamming along
💯
the first one is great second one is overrated
I’ve never disagreed more in my life. Do we have the same ears?
Probably not, mine are human.@@dereksiegel255
THE BEST GUITAR SOLO.....EVER !!!!
You just don’t want the solo to end… legends that will live forever
This honestly might be the greatest guitar solo of all time.

It is
Kaleb Krail it is
It absolutely is!!!
I second that view, it's amazing - god like.
The solo is not something you hear , it's something you feel.
Wish I could feel that Good.!music is Magic. When they put everything in, it and then some 🤗
I'd be honored if David Gilmour fans would take a listen to my piano & vocal performances of WISH YOU WERE HERE and SLIT SKIRTS by Pete Townshend on my YT channel in tribute to the masters of lyricism and composition. Done live with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
Goddamn that gives the chills to tears every time . Theres something ethereal to this
the best solo i ever heard, its touches the soul, gives goosebumps
You are right and it feels good to hear David Gilmour play guitar. He is one the best Rock Guitarist on our planet.
Who is here in 2024 ?
☝️
Here on St Pat's 2024. Still outstanding even w/o Roger Waters.
I was at Pompei last week (March, 2024). They have photos of first Pink's gig.

It's incredible to me that you can hear a song 40 years AFTER hearing it for the first time (when it completely knocked your socks off) played live by guys who now have white hair and grandchildren and it surpasses that original feeling by shooting you straight to the moon with a golden glitter gun and a smile on your face.
Yes!!! Mind bogglingly good!!!

I'm 73 and I am as blown away as I was when I first heard it live....at University!!! 😂
That final solo has saved more lives than therapy.
Hair standing up on my arms every time
I could watch this every day all day and still die a happy man. After I got sober, 13 years ago, it took me awhile to get back to Pink Floyd. Now I have much better appreciation for their work. Hell, I still listen to Radio K.A.O.S. from Roger Waters.
exactly!
Ahem to that. ☺
It makes my heart happy to know so many appreciate this music.
David Gilmour's voice at 70-something is 95% of what it was at 20-something. And his guitar playing appears to still be at 100%. Fine wine.
On my option, this should be somehow 120% or more on guitar part. ;-)
I’ve heard both 👍
Yes indeed 😊 FINE WINE 😍
Seriously insanely talented
@Mind Control Experiments lol
During this song he leaves this planet he’s is without doubt the greatest guitar player ever amazing isn’t the word.
Is this the greatest live performance of music ever
If this doesn’t touch your soul, you might not have one.
I don’t have one, but I like the song lol
@@hugowaltner1677 it was late when i listened you feel this energy
Patrick Sautron what is that supposed to mean ? I’m confused.
Said it all.
@michael lee I am LoL beyond my control and I thank you for that😂😅🤣🤓🤓
Not one, ONE note is out of place in this solo. How is that possible. This guy is absolutely incredible. Best ever
Same as live8 not a note out of place the whole set, never be matched will Floyd.
Damn Straight!!!
I hear you brother
Yes Gilmour is one of the best a Legend.
David ❤
65 year old veteran. Relaxing with a beer and listening.
There are some experiences in life that are so good that you wish they would never end, this song is definitely one of them.
I cant stop listening too😆
No matter how many times i hear this song as soon as Gilmour starts the solo every single hair on my body stands up
True that 💯
His voice isn’t bad either.
I am getting a guitar because of this man
That's because you know what's comin'!
Marcus Jahnke oh hell ya hes got a killer voice
History will show that this was the greatest guitar solo of all time.
Oh 2zh6ñ
History not needed.
Counterpoint: The time solo
Was = is....
I have asked my self .what song can you listen to for internty ??? It's comfortably numb.i don't think it's the greatest David Gilmours best solo but is the context of the song .it's truely the greatest mean .he's like Michael Angelo with a 🎸
It's unbelievable a human being actually made this.
Maybe some of them aren’t….🧚♂
probably one of the best live performance of all time.
Lost my grandfather 2 weeks ago, his favorite band was Pink Floyd. He had the full "The Wall" cd set in his home. I remember asking him, as he lay in his bed, unable to move much or speak much from the cancer that had spread through his body, if he wanted to listen to some Pink Floyd. He just simply smiled at me, eyes still a brilliant blue, and nodded. I am glad I got to enjoy this song with him, before he slipped intro the ever after, 2 days later. It has been stuck in my head since. I miss you Papa.
RIP 🙏
Rest In Peace to your grandfather.
R.I.P
If his favourite band was Pink Floyd, he is in a really good place rn :)
Thanks for making me cry, jerk. 😢. jk. RIP to your awesome Papa.

I vote this one as best comment.
sick!!😂
That guitar solo at the ending wow, literally no words will ever explain the beauty that is Pink Floyd. I have tears in my eyes, it’s a literal emotional experience. No words have to be spoken, but it sounds more clear than anything.
that solo is a song itself, it gave me goosebumps
Every time I watch this I smile when I see how happy the drummer is.
He's got a naturally "smiley" face, but most of the time it really does look like he's thinking "THIS CANNOT BE MORE AWESOME!!"
Ist auch meine Lieblingsstelle😊❤
He knows he is in the presence of greatness.
The drummer appreciated every single piece of that solo
I never saw a drummer having so much fun, and i've seen some pretty high times up there on the stage.
It looked like he was getting tired at the end lol
YEAH he was eating it up
Nick Mason..... 👏
@@melmayhem6001 Nope
In this world, there are songs, there is music and then there is Pink Floyd.
Brings chills down the spine tears to the eyes and a big lump in your throat. Unbelievable.
Often wondered if anyone else had the same reaction as you just described or was the only one that felt this
It frigging does, indeed...
Sitting with the exact same feeling damn.
I get that feeling every time…
That drummer is just happy to be playing with a legend
kaan yeşildal i’d be happy to just be one of the dancers on stage with a legend 😂

The greatest guitar solo ever beyond question , arguably the greatest song ever!
And I actually like the pulse version slightly better. It’s more precision but this is more improv which is even more impressive.
Love the drummers smile throughout, It just says to me, look at the gig I got, playing one of the best songs with one of the biggest bands in the world.
If it were me the smile would never leave ....ever....
- Dad, why my sister's name is Rose ?

Eugenio Garrido my thoughts exactly!!
I have seen this live multiple times and await it again
I just hope selling some of his guitars doesn't mean that he will not tour again. It would make sense tho.😫
I would die the happiest man of all time if I could ever witness such greatness
Everything mankind knows about music including how to use an electric guitar, was used at full capacity in this solo. Thank you.
Greatest song of all time.
Best Solo ever executed, this is something more than music....at 71....today you reach 74...Happy Birthday Legend.

A song celebrating drugs. Satan at work.
The drummer knowns he is damn lucky to be chosen to perform with the legend, expressions on his face proves something money can't buy.
He is like "mommy, mommy, look I'm playing with Gilmour"
He looks pretty much younger than David so I think Pink Floyd had its best times when he was young
Absolutely agree with you dude
Thats definitly James Hetfield
No, not at all
I've watched and listened to this particular song on my Blu-ray hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. It never gets old. Thank you David.
I just don't want this song to ever end. Gilmour is THE BEST. (And I'm an old "rocker" just like he is)

The drummer never stops smiling, must be one of the highlights of his life to play in this concert with David Gilmore and pink floyd.
He looks like he having the time of his life...
And the bass player, the band have the best seats in the house!

That drummer is the happiest person in the whole concert hall.

btw - actually, it's not a concert hall, it's the Amphitheatre of Pompeii... ;-)
I would definitely feel like I'm at the height of my life playing with david gilmour one of my favorite songs

This may be the greatest live guitar performance of rock history, and lucky us, we still have Gilmour with us
Not maybe. THIS IS IT! PERIOD! FOR ALL TIME!
🙏
Agreed, the greatest of the greatest!!
Idk that solo from Another Brick in the Wall on Pulse is also pretty magical, the bass kicks in with slap part before playing an extended version of the solo. But yes, cherish David and I mean that. His soloing and the way he plays helped me build myself up as a better player, myself. Easily top 3 guitarist for me , of all time.
Sorry guys, I'm 71yo and was around when Hendrix was alive!😆
His soul sings through his guitar and takes our soul on a beautiful and powerful journey out of this artififcial world into such a beautiful world I can't describe in words.
It dosent get any better than this. All the lucky people who got to experience such perfection, I envy you.
You could make a 30-minute version of this song, and it'd still feel too short.

When I was sick last year, I had time to sniff around UA-cam a bit. I looked up a lot of Pink Floyd DOCs and concerts a lot is to be found. It really expands your knowledge of the humans, the people that made the music. I won't say opinions I leave that story for you to discover. Pax~
Nobody sounds like Gilmour. That sound is iconic!
Voice and guitar.
@Ziva David the songs melody and chord progression was a song Gilmour made a demo of for his solo album..

What we are seeing and hearing is a man's soul flowing through wood and steel...
A couple other versions, where at the end Gilmour makes that Strat absolutely scream with anguish and despair is like nothing I have ever come out of a guitar before. A guitar player poster on one of these vids said that he didn't even know what the sound was...he had zero idea how that sound was made on guitar.
Name them, Page, Clapton, Van Halen, whomever, for my money while all those top players are phenomenal players, Gilmour is transcendent. SO much raw emotion in this song. IMHO no one comes close.
@@jamespobog3420 anytime I listen to a really good guitar solo and I mean a really good one it just feels like im seeing into the eye of the universe in a way.
