Come to that, where does Bill Wyman fit into this? These American 'experts' create channels which are designed to attract views, thereby generating income, and the videos are full of utter rubbish in most cases and have 'sensational' titles to attract the viewer, but are, as has been said below, nonsense. They can't even get their facts right! Clapton did not get the nickname of 'Slowhand' with the Yardbirds - it was with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
@@carstenmoss5025 You need to read up on rock history. Clapton's work on the Bluesbreakers album set a new standard, and was really groundbreaking at that time. He was the one responsible for making the Les Paul/Marshall combination one that became standard in rock. So many others wanted that edgy sound that Clapton had achieved on the Bluesbreakers album. In Cream, he was leading the way, being ahead of Page and Beck in that regard, with a far more disciplined approach to guitar playing. Of course, Hendrix came along and blew everyone away, but it was a wakeup call. They were all friends, with respect for each other. In the early 70's, Clapton's interest in "old" Fenders started the lust for vintage Fender Stratocasters. His work in the '70's wasn't as groundbreaking as the Cream days, but he had a string of great hits, and helped to bring Bob Marley and JJ Cale into the spotlight. Sure, there are other blues guitarists, but he was a part of that revival that began in England in the mid 1960's. He was influenced by the 3 Kings, for sure, but this style of music was always about influences, and carrying on traditions. The original Black blues musicians could almost be forgotten if it wasn't for early recordings, and an anthropological interest in the original sources of this music. Clapton's style has an orthodoxy about it that has since influenced countless guitarists. You need to understand the nature of this process, rather than just being blown away by the next big thing.
Well... In this, I feel Clapton was misinformed. I can list 6 ROCK players who broke the walls down, incl. Hendrix, Holdsworth, ZAPPA... and The list goes on. Page is respected musically, I acknowledge his talent but the guy was capital C Creepy. Bad juju

@@John_13_35 Please list the other 3. You list Zappa and Holdsworth, whose music doesn't have the wide appeal that Jeff Beck's has. Being technically proficient and experimental is fine, but one's audience will always be smaller. Beck was a guitar legend in his lifetime, and lived up to it with music that is essentially melodic and emotional in content. It's a topic that one could argue pointlessly about, because it's subjective in nature, but these elements of music are present in much great classical music as well. It's an element that helps to define greatness, as apposed to being merely interesting and technically clever.
Simple, Eric believes Jimmy put out a record that he played on and didn’t share copyright in the mid sixties but Jimmy didn’t have any control over the release,it’s a sleazy business and musicians huge ego’s get in the way.
Pretty good summation. I've followed both of these artists for several decades and I don't think they were ever very close as the video seems to hint at.
That seems to be a story I've heard before. I kinda believe it, because it's a real sticking point. Since they didn't do it together, Clapton will always be suspicious. Clapton feels a certain way about it. Whether Page had control or not, is out of our hands. But Eric didn't like Oldham obviously, he did it for commercial gain. That was a good explanation. Thank you.
@@alanmiller2250 Oldham had also overdubbed some old Stones tracks to make it more 'commercial' without Pages knowledge (according to Page). They should do a biopic about Eric, Jeff Beck's and Jimmy's experiences in the Yardbirds, ending with the sad electrocution death of Keith Relf and their stellar solo careers.
Sorry but I'm calling Bulshavic on this UA-cam segment. First of all Jimmy & Eric were never "Close" friends. Jimmy grew up with Jeff Beck in the same neighborhood NOT Clapton. Yes Jimmy & Eric had done some jamming together with recordings of the sessions. But Musicians like themselves did a lot of those back in the day so it wasn't anything special of those recordings other than the fact that you had 2 Great guitar players. Secondly Jimmy had nothing to do with the Release of those Recordings so you have that as well. Bottom Line, Jimmy & Eric were NEVER close friends so this is much ado about nothing!
I totally agree. Eric was best friends with George Harrison and stole his wife with it too. They stayed friends sort of. Jeff was just a better natural talent of blues than Eric who had to work at it. Page was more acoustic sinth. With ballads. All great in their own ways. Don't know where Waters came from tbh
Clapton, Page and Beck are all terrific in different ways. Clapton is by far the best singer and has been a prolific song writer. Page is a great acoustic player, band leader and producer. Beck is very innovative and did great work in jazz fusion.
I find them all great musicians. When it is between Page and Clapton, I prefer Page more. He can do everything Eric can, but then more creative and original. Especially as a composer/arranger. And Jeff Beck takes it even further... But again, I appreciate all of them.
I play guitar myself and jimmy page wrote and produced all of led Zeppelins music....he was into dark magic and I don't know if he sold his soul to Satan but zoso a word on a album cover is actually a name of a powerful entity or demon... Clapton was a great musician also...but Page was in a world of his own ....I've learned a few songs from Zeppelin and I will say this..... The tuning on some of the songs is outrageous....drop D is one of them and many musicians use that tuning because using power chords is really heavy but they only tune down the E string...But when you tune completely down like he did in many of his songs is beautiful what he wrote....

In my personal opinion. There are So many great guitar players out there. But if you look at these 3 Guitar Players. They all have completely different styles of playing. Hard Rock bordering on Heavy Metal James Patrick Page blows away Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. Neither of those Guitar players have ever recorded anything as hard and heavy as Jimi. Now as far as technical prowess and the overall mastery of the electric guitar to create sounds and so many elements of different music into your own unique style Jeff Beck Is a Musical chameleon, he beats the other 2 with his versatility. Yet Eric Clapton is a Guitar Player that has a style that is completely his own and he is an innovator and influencer to many other guitarists, so he is the best example of going for what you know and keeping it simple and not to complex just slow and easy and steady.
Eric was under contract with Oldham which was why Oldham got the tapes. Jimmy did engineering and production work on them before he gave Oldham the tapes. Eric was not involved with any of those decisions so he got pissed off. And is still pissed off. He needs to get over it.
O.K. So this is my take on this malarkey. Legend has it that Clapton and Page actually were friendly when they were young. But something happened that soured their friendship. Something to do with a recording. Clapton and Page recorded a tune and from what I heard some "Shi@head" said that he "Owned the rights to the recording". - Something like that.
Didn't know about the 'legal' bootlegging/mixing but apart from that, the Roger Waters F'up and the lack of content over presentation was poorly derived. I know what it's like working the circuit in a specific trade and you do meet the same people from time to time and sometimes move onto the next contract together. We don't live in each others pockets and no doubt it's similar for musicians. If this is an attempt in utilising AI to help a presentation, don't give up your day job.

And no mention of Peter Green? My, my. Maybe the best of them all, imo. Had he not suffered his mental condition who knows how things might have shaped up? I think the best way to think of this cadre of great British guitarists is there were a number of them all great in their own way. Green, Beck, Page and Clapton, just to name four.
Sometimes Clapton is simply not comfortable playing right handed, and the stage crew starts to hand over the left handed guitars, yes indeed. Wait what..
I am so happy that Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page are still friends. I can only hope that they come togather and maybe make a blues/rock album togather of original music and perform togather! This would truly be exceptional and whatever disagreements may be let go. I am glad to hear that they are still friends and that my two favorite guitar players are still performing. It would be incredible if they performed togather again and I believe that both guitar players could make a album togather promoting there love for the blues that I believe needs a good revival. Not since Stevie Ray Vaugh has the blues music been on the commercial charts or radio air play although you can bet that if Clapton & Page collaborated togather and performed blues rock music togather, It would be a project that with a few iconic musicians like maybe Rod Stewart or Paul Rogers singing lead vocal with great guitar harmonies could bring back the love for the blues.
Some stupid photos in this fool probably thinks he's Page
Both pioneers . But Jeff Beck took it further than anyone as both Clapton and Page said .
Never really understood the Clapton thing. Always found him generic and boring whereas the other two are true ground breakers. There, I said it!
Bad juju
@@carstenmoss5025 I used to wonder the same until I watched some of the early Cream and Blind Faith videos. Clapton’s playing is understated and not flashy since it’s blues based like his early playing. Blind Faith in Hyde Park, London, 1969 >> ua-cam.com/video/PJJnA6zEcGk/v-deo.html
Clapton did not recieve any royalties nor was he aware of any release. Clapton believes that Page was somehow involved in this betrayal (rightly or not) and said he was Betrayed by Page. Given Page's history with borrowing other's peoples music without consent makes this seem plausible. IMO.

Jimmy had a better vocalist, bass player and the best drummer.

This is a very strange retelling of history.its kinda funny
And no mention of Peter Green? My, my. Maybe the best of them all, imo. Had he not suffered his mental condition who knows how things might have shaped up? I think the best way to think of this cadre of great British guitarists is there were a number of them all great in their own way. Green, Beck, Page and Clapton, just to name four.
+ Alvin Lee.
@@andrasczehlarik9180 Yep, and Kim Simmonds, Stan Web,, Martin Barre and half a dozen others. It was an era of fantastic guitarists.
@@mic982 Iagree. Cheers.
Silence says volumes. Who ever put this together be silent because there is no fact to this
Ah those pics of Pink Floyd axeman along side of EC was confusing.
Stills are shown sometimes with narration that has nothing to do with one another.
Guess you forgot Jeff Beck was involved with both too.
Sometimes Clapton is simply not comfortable playing right handed, and the stage crew starts to hand over the left handed guitars, yes indeed. Wait what..
I am so happy that Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page are still friends. I have a pretty extensive knowledge of Rock and roll history so I was surprised to hear about these tapes or a collaboration between Clapton & Page that was recorded. Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page are two of my favorite guitar players in rock and the blues. I have been heavily influenced from both guitarist's playing and music. I love both these iconic guitar players and would love to see them perform togather again. It's ok to have disagreements and still be friends. I would pay to buy that album and pay to see there band on tour! Maybe Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page will see my comment here and possibly make a album togather to promote the blues. Most music fans could not give a stuff about their relationships as they are different style guitarists and have their own set of fans! It is the Music that matters not the possible rift or not between them!
Lol.
How I wish, how I wish you were here....
We're just two guitarist's on a stage,
Year after year.
Roger plays the bass, unrational fear,
Neither one of appears...
With him.
Would help if they knew the difference between Jimmy and Roger waters
Ummm Jeff Beck replaced Clapton in the Yardbirds....Page replaced Beck.
What's with Roger Waters? That's not Page! Lol.
I want to know why Clapton decides to play left-handed at times.
Probably the negative was flipped-over making it appear that EC was playing left handed.
Jimmy Page stopping and grabbing the 15 years old girl off the streets and make her his girlfriend. Pretty weird like a weirdo
He needed young virgins for his ritual magic.
@@joek8423 yeah,
He coulda just grabbed her by the ….
IMHO - there is not a single criteria by which you can compare these guys and have Clapton come out on top. Technical playing ability, guitar tone, versatility, songwriting, onstage presence, additional skills (producing...), band leadership/vision. Then throw in the sheer cool factor. I respect anybody else's opinion when it comes to a matter of something that is considered an art form, but to me there is no there is no competition here. Comparison aside, Clapton is simply one of the most overrated musicians ever.
Page seems to look a lot like Roger Waters at the Ronnie Lane concert.
He looks like Yoda
I am a big fan of Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, but this was a load of you know what.
