Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.
In 1974 at a youth club dance i met a 16yo girl, asked her to dance to "Stairway to Heaven" I was 17yo. We celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary this year. The lyrics hang on our lounge room wall still today. LOVE IT.

Aw that’s so beautiful! 🥹 Happy Anniversary 💕
This is so great.
8 minute song probably helped build that initial connection. Today songs are less than 3 minutes and all about booty dancing so no chance of emotionally connecting with another human.
I'm trying to master the tambourine solo...
Hello everybody, I'm 72 and I think they are the best rock band in the world forever 🥰🥰🥰

Im 18 and agree. Will never be anything like them again
They don't make music like this anymore l worked in a record shop in Hillbrow in South Africa when I was 16 I am 67 now I still listen to it very often I even got my granddaughter listening to it still awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Even if it was Chuck Berry, I don't know how to spell THE CREATOR OF ROCK, or Elvis Presley the KING OF ROCK, or the best band in the world THE BEATLES
Not even if The Rolling Stone were the second best band in the world or Pink Floyd
Jimmy Paige‘s Guitar Solo is out of this world.
And Bonham ❤
Jimmy broke a string at 8:36 and kept rocking just like that. Ridiculously good ZoSo
Simplemente epico!!❤
How do you mean that? This is virtually the worst solo he ever played to that song. He obviously has no genuine ideas but recycles microphrases from former performances. He occasionally is out of rhythm - and not in a good way. Overall, it makes me wish he would just stop. Don't get me wrong: I love Zep, and I love this song. But compare this to the solo he played at Madison Square Garden, maybe you get what I am talking about.
imo this is improvisation and creativity. I think if you only care about execution Jimmy is not the right one for you. Nowadays there are a lot of good executors and a few good composers. I get that you love led zeppelin but art is different than a sport game. He always use licks in this solo but it is really different than tsrt or bbc for example.
When these guys were 'happening', I was not yet 'awake'.....now I am. Better late than never. I'm 87 and grateful!!!!

Wow man sorry for your loss. Crazy how music can make you feel. Even when someone has passed , there can be a song or music that makes you feel near to their spirit.
A man with a story to tell. Music played by actual people, no computers no AI. And you can tell. Its hits you in the hart. Music from the 60's 70's and 80's. Creativeness at its finest.
❤❤❤
Back when music was real music. In a time long long ago
❤
unless Led Zeppelin is drunk and on drugs at the 1973 old Braves Stadium in Atlanta. Sounded NOTHING like their albums and 2/3's left before the halfway mark. SLOPPY, people on the field got crushed and when we left, we were robbed at gunpoint.
If you understand the functioning of our society in the "west" you understand that the song "stairway to heaven " has a deeper meaning. And is a equivalent for the function of them, the same computers, AI and people. Just different society circumstances. Then the communicaion was different but the fundamentals under it were and are exactly the same. It is the challenge to see and understand that what will set us really free here and not only when we go the last "stairway".
This band was a gift… the combination of skill, passion, intuition, discipline, coolness is something that we won’t see again in our lifetime.
Where has music like that gone?
It still exists, Greta Van Fleet is an amazing bad and their inspiration is bands like Led Zepplin

You said it brother I grew up in the 80
I was in this concert in 1975. I had arrived in London in 1972 to study business. It was an incredible concert from which I clearly remember three things: Jimmy Page's magnificent solo guitar in Starway to Heaven, Robert Plant singing bare chest at maximum potency, and the strong weed smell throughout the concert. I was 24 at that time and what a wonderful experience this was: It will live on my mind forever.
Beautifully said. We are the same age. I graduated from Michigan State University in June 1973. I bet you hear this not just in your mind, but in your heart & soul.

This song is so unique. I just wanna say that it just doesn't belongs only to the 70's when it was created, but also to all era, even nowadays, it still belongs. It's timeless, precisely. You can be 20 today, or in your 30's, or 40's, or late 50's early 70's, I bet this song still feel the same as it was back then. I can't describe it for any of you, but everytime i listen to it, i feel as if the world around me just stop in silence, and everything is ignored, which is fine, for this song is being born, raise and lives in you. Everytime i play it, it was a new breath of life, and I will find something new from it. You will learn something from it, and it's only made by 4 people whose in their early 20's. It's not perfect, but nothing is, and it's a beauty that stays forever, when the others just gone...

This was one of my great grandma’s favorite songs. She passed away very recently at age 78. She and Jimmy Page share the exact same birthday.
Every time I see Led Zeppelin perform this song live I get chills and tear up a bit.
It makes me sad because it reminds me that Gram has passed, but it also makes me have happy tears because it reminds me of all the great memories and inside jokes me and her had.
I love and miss you Gram, and thank you Led Zeppelin for this timeless Masterpiece. My best wishes to Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and we miss you Bonzo 💕
Me adiero a sus palabras.
I was introduced to Led Zeppelin back in 1975 by my brother. What an experience. I don’t think they knew that they were leading the charge. I’m happy to be a part of it.
I was at the Atlanta Concert in 1973. We were on the field at the old Braves stadium. They were drunk and on drugs and sounded Nothing like their albums. I was caught in a crush of pushing. I finally made it out and found a small area to lay down in. I was looking at the sky and trying to breathe. All of a sudden they played (horribly) "Stairway to Heaven". I looked at the sky and said, "Oh, God. I've died and gone to hell." LOL.....More than 2/3 of the stadium left including us. Then while getting in our car we were robbed at gunpoint!!!!!! Needless to say.... the worst concert of my life and I've been to more than 300! Rolling Stones (Twice), Elvis (Twice) Lynard Synard (5 times) Eric Clapton (three times) Eagles (Four times) Jackson Browne (Eight times), Springsteen (twice), and Jim Morrison (once) and Janis Joplan(once) were my favorites. Maybe Tom Petty as well. I've been to a lot of concerts!

@@alan181090 Heroin made him a sloppy player yes, but it was also very difficult, if not physically impossible for him to play the studio version of the Stairway solo with his Gibson double-neck because the studio solo (which was recorded on a Telecaster) required you to play all the way up to the 20th fret, which is impossible to reach in his Gibson because it had smaller cutaways.
But yeah even still, I wish he didn't change the solo so drastically, it still catches me off-guard every time the band starts playing the solo section and Jimmy's still strumming on the 12-string and he switches over to the 6-string a couple of measures late, it's just kinda anticlimactic

I was born listening to this masterpiece. How not to love these guys? Do they turn music into magic... or does magic become music? Plant's incredible voice, Bonzo's powerful drums, JPJ's unrivaled talent… and Jimmy's guitar. In your hands, the guitar is not a musical instrument, it is something almost supernatural that translates your feelings, your emotions… a guitar to captivate us and lead us to ecstasy. Thank you dear Jimmy for forming Led Zeppelin! 🎶🎸🎤🥁🎹🎼❤️💙🧡💚
You're welcome
Very well thought out and articulated. Agree with every word.
YES, basically. Couldn't agree more.
Masterpiece
Obrigado obrigado obrigado, Led Zeppelin
Nor much you can say really. Just pure genius.
There are good songs, there are excellent songs, there are top songs.... and then there is Stairway to Heaven.
That's all.
YES
@@TheBustleInYourHedgerowDefinitively Yes!
After 50 years it's still a hymn
Jimmy's guitar solos are the 8th wonder of this world 🎸💖
So is Plant
Jimmy Page, has a talent in handling the guitar, but we must not forget that the greatest genius is Jimmi Hendrix-

Compared to Floyd this is a 1st yr secondary school music class grade solo tbh but I get what you mean still top 10 bands of All Times so I've no problem with anyones opinions or who they think is the best because from Fleetwood mac upwards it's God level music. The sort of music you'd present to Aliens to show what we are capable of with a musical instrument and sheer talent. Amazing stuff all of it.
This is how to make rock music. Best of the best.
One of the best songs ever written sang perfectly
Led Zeppelin were ahead of their time. Never gets old. So talented.
Greatest band ever,

@@kevinfrelander1024 They threw out the rule book and truly did it their way.
Check 6:50 thru 7:15 or so. Page is strumming, and right when he changes it up for a brief second, Bonham does so AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, those two were in sync like no other.
@@kevinfrelander1024 When I say that, people tell me its my opinion, I say, sorry, its a fact maam. lol
