I think a more accurate title would have been HOW MY IDIOT FRIEND ALMOST GOT US KILLED
😁😁😁
EXACTLY, THATS HOW I FEEL... HE PRACTICALLY LIED ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE, DECEIVING SAUL... NOT TO MENTION CHOOSING THE MOST DANGEROUS COURSE OPTION, UPON GOING THROUGH THERE 1st INCIDENT...
@@paulsharp7857 he just doesn't know when it's time to be serious, but hey he found out😂
@@paulsharp7857 Saul was practically on his own when Larry lied about his experience and was incapable of paddling back because his boat was full of water. It was just Saul's chance to give Larry a feeling of being on his own.
Yeah hahahahha
"You don't leave your buddies behind", ok don't lie about how you know how to kayak or pretend to listen to saul when he is giving you information to help you get to safety
When you're an arrogant ( Larry) idiot n bullheaded, that's what happens..
Its impossible to teach somebody in this extreme conditions and he wasn.t ready in first place for it so with plenty of water in boat even expert would strugle it same like to put somebody in middle of deep large lake and teach to swim .
Larry put them both in a lot of danger by lying to him about his experience. Saul did the right thing by saving himself and getting help for Larry.
@@axa897 he put himself out there tho and lied to saul about his experience. He deserved to get left behind
Dude, you totally made the right decision to leave him. Like he said himself, he would've been saved in 20 mins if he hadn't abandonded his flashlight.
What a guy. 26:00 by what logic do you conclude it's the boat's fault that you can't make it against the current?
The type of guys who climb Everest, wearing only flip flops and sombreros..
Thats pretty normal.
😂😂

YOUNG GUYS IN THE 80s......not yesterday
😂😂😂😂
"I need a friend like Larry " said no one ever
He is horrible 😂 and they are still friends.. Only men could
"You left me..."
Dude, he literally organised a search party to find you!
"I didn't want him to feel guilty," so the first thing he says when he sees him "You left me." Then "Do I hold a grudge? No I don't. But he left me. You don't do that ever, you just don't leave someone. You don't leave your buddy ever..." On and on for the entire show. 20 years after the incident they make this show, he just rambles on and on and on about how he left him. But he doesn't hold a grudge.
@💥Smurkk💥 Its a compilation of Larry's own lies and ignorance that caught him in a dangerous situation from the start of the trip.
which is very odd considering they both would have died of Saul hadn't gone for help.
Just because he's stating facts doesn't mean he holds a grudge. He's telling his story and I'm sure it brings up intense feelings given the harsh situation. Doesn't mean he holds a grudge. But I guess if you want to make this incredible story into something negative? you'll find a way. Nice.
@@Flies_the_limit "Just stating a fact?" Over and over and over and again and again and again and can't stop talking about it But he is just stating a fact. He doesn't hold a grudge at all, he is just obsessed with "you left me". If he didn't hold a grudge he would stop repeating it again and again. But please try to gaslight everyone and explain why people who are over something focus and obsess about it.
@@Flies_the_limit is that you, Larry?
So the guy that showed up 4 hours late, lied to his buddy, and ultimately ruined the trip while at the same time almost killing himself has the nerve to call his buddy who went for help selfish? Hmm....
He’s coming across as unintelligent and entitled, a terrible combination.
Precisely 🤔
At 40:38, says the man who wouldn't let his friend cuddle with him so he could stay warm. (who sacrificed his blanket)
Dont forget he didnt want him to cuddle with him...
@@iCynnie ha ha ha
Larry: 'I don't have a death wish'.
Anyone who goes travelling with you has a death wish, buddy.
😂
So.. Larry was 4h late, had no experience, he wasn't prepared for anything, he was completely sassy and wasn't listening to any direction and he dares basically call Saul bossy?!?
One man missing and another man knowing where to look is better than 2 men missing and having no clue where to look. I would have left Larry behind too🤷🏻♀️
Or even anyone knowing they were missing
So a list of things Larry did wrong (feel free to add):
1) Arrived Late
2) Lied about being experienced
3) Failed to pack dry bag correctly
4) Packed wrong clothes
5) Didn't let his friend share heat in while he was freezing
6) Picked the hardest route home
7) Failed to hold on to over turned kayak
8) Failed to swim with safety gear from the kayak
9) Failed to use emergency whistle on wet-suit
10) Failed to take responsibility for his actions during and after
12) Failed to realise it was a survival situation. Its no big deal im an athlete
13) Failed to stay put on the island for help
14) Probably many more i missed
The other one
1) Not giving Larry the pump and instructions about leaving
I feel not knowing his friend lied about his experience isn't on him and he was more than capable for the dark and all 4 options.
Larry's biggest problem was his ego.
Ego can get one killed.
I definitely wouldn’t have abandoned the kayak.
I totally agree! He made one bad decision after another!
Larry is the kind of people everyone hates, making jokes out of dangerous situations instead of paying attention to the information he's been given.
Because he is not experient, because who was supposed to guide him just punishing him at the point of survive´s situation
Probably the son of a long line of politicians
Larry is a blockhead that's why
This guy is annoying af!
He's 4 hours late with no kayak experience and a big ego, Larry is a big liability on the trip.
I love it how Larry keeps trying to make his friend out to be a horrible person for "abandoning" him.. Dude, your lies could have gotten you both killed. Larry is the one who put them both in a seriously dangerous situation. I would have left the dude behind as well, no doubt..
Speaking of which; if Larry is such a great friend himself then why wouldn't he let his friend cuddle up next to him during the night? Thanks to his stupidity, his friend was without a sleeping bag (that he kindly lent to Larry so that HE wouldn't get hypothermia) and he was more than happy to let his friend get hypothermia instead because "I like him, but not THAT much". By the sound of things, I don't think that Larry would have stuck around if the tables were turned either. He seriously needs to get off his high horse here.
Well said.
I think he would rather die than being left alone, or even going alone to try to get help. And the only reason he survived was because of his friend, and he still doesn't acknowledge that he saved him.Quite sad.
Indeed, Larry reminds me of a narcasist actually.
@@rainbows9060 not to obsess over that, but I think he admits to more stupidity than a pure narcissist would. I'd go with spoiled brat with the risk seeker gene. A child who feels hurt facing the level of loyalty he earned with those reckless, dumb, immature lies and choices. I think he knows, and it's easier to resort to boilerplate bro code than do a full "I've got to own this" introspection. In the end, they are not criminals for this, and they have feelings too. Some of the commentary pile-ons are pretty dehumanizing in this era of digital pillories.
Schluger,Joanne. She was abandoned, too. Larry got schlugered.
"With this boat, I'm going nowhere"...he lets go... couple hours later the boat is at an island and he's being swept miles out to sea.
@mari kuku No it wasnt a 2 people boat. The rescue guy mistook it for a 2 people boat because of the second hole in the boat for the storage. Someone wasnt paying attention here.
then he is on an island again and decides to swim another time :D
@mari kuku you need to pay attentiob ya hori
These two are the reason they have to put warning labels on a tube of toothpaste.
😂
I'm honestly kinda bummed that they stayed friends. Saul deserves better.
You know, I think that your opinion is your opinion, but I think you should still respect the fact that some people do try to do the best thing maybe not the right way but they do try to do the best thing
Larry did literally everything you shouldnt do....Im amazed he survived

I don't think I've ever seen someone make so many wrong decisions in one day.
I thought your cat was a pigs head
Watch the episode of the dad taking his daughter out in the Australian outback. I have never seen so many bad decisions
Moral of the story: NEVER go out to sea during winter, especially on a small boat like a kayak. And NEVER fake your expertise on anything.
and NEVER take Larry out on a Kayak
moral of the story is don't claim that you are capable of doing something which you have no idea of. Never take the sea water lightly.
Be careful who you choose to go kayaking with....
And don't go at night.
The amount of people ive taken for trail rides (horse riding) that say they CAN ride and dont want the “dead horse” and then 15 min into the ride you end up switching horses because they proved they really cant ride, is craze. Rather remain humble and let your experience speak for itself
If you don't want him to feel guilty then thank him for getting help and saving your life ! He could have sat there with you and nobody would have known you were missing for days
Saul calling Larry's parents "your son is lost at sea"....they found his kayak...."no wait hold up he alive on an island".....find out he isn't on the island...."ok he dead like most definitely".....Larry is rescued...."nope wait my bad he alive and yes I am sure this time...like 50 percent sure" lol

True you don’t get to compete ; you have friends to help each other only if Larry cooperate they will survive together in less time
this guy did everything wrong but manage to still be alive.. amazing.
I am loving these videos…Larry is still an entitled baby whol likes the idea of being something he isn’t. No idea how to plan, prepare or take responsibility….He will never do anything on his own because when he messes up he needs someone to blame…
He's no athlete for sure
He’s so ungrateful. He wasn’t abandoned, he gave his friend no choice & somehow thinks he’s the victim. Wow
He’s a narcissistic anole. Can’t imagine any woman who’d want a relationship with this guy. His ego is enormous!,
i hate this mor0n competitive, cry baby, immature, insecured, know-it-all type of guy, this imbecile got on my nerves 10 minutes into the show, i wouldn't share a coffee with him let alone go kayaking.

LOL
This reminds me of when i went swimming in a lake, with this guy 18 years old, with whom we met on a train trip, then went hitchhiking to the mountains and halfway through the lake he goes like
“Bro i can’t swim anymore I have asthma”
Almost drowned myself trying to let him push me down the bottom so he could get enough air to reach the shore, you have no idea what a scared drowning man is ready to do to save his life
Well you did try. He should have known better....when it's your life or the idiot's...well.. I can understand what a drowning man would do to save his own life 😉
Luckily we managed to both make it but i was very angry at shore and felt like i was made of water 10% more than normal
@@ShakeMcBlunt As a lifeguard you're supposed to go in feet to the person so you can kick them off so they don't drag you down with them. Survival is a real thing, and so are burdens.
Had something similar happen to me and my friends while we were kayaking in the ocean. We get all the way out in the kayaks and one of the girls says she can't swim. The rest of us were all surprised because we lived on an island where everyone knows how to swim and she shouldn't have come out that deep if she couldn't...we were far from shore. Somehow the girl flipped her kayak and ended up in the water, she would've drowned if we didn't pull her out.
Scary.
Larry’s goal was to take his clothes off and hit on women. I can only imagine how that was gonna play out. 🙄
He probably would have figured out a way to get killed just taking off his clothes
I know. I couldn't believe what I heard!
It sounds very disrespectful
...Laughter!
AND THEN, He would find a way to drown in the hottub
I laughed so hard when he said that. At least he was honest...?
There's something strangely entertaining about these 2 guys! 😂
Stay with the boat. Always stay with the boat.
Stay with the boat unless it's getting fire.

Well. That was a well planned and executed excursion.

Incredibaly genious
Saul made the right decision. This is evidenced by how quickly they located the kayak. In Larry's own words: "Rule number one when you are in danger is stay put". If he stayed with the kayak and supplies they probably would have found him that night.
Larry is the stupidest guy ever. I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. I would leave him too.
He is not the stupidest guy ever lol. Calm down 😂
whiteroads1985 umm... yes he is an idiot... he not only put himself at risk but his travelling partner. He is an idiot... he lied.. and even when things got bad he still lied. I honestly wonder if he he is mentally challenged? When you hear him talk it seems like he is slow thinking.
Marissa H Saul isn’t blameless though. They never should have left at night, that highly increased their likelihood of missing the beach and crashing into the rocks. And according to him, he suspected that Larry didn’t know how to kayak.. so why give him the option of crossing the strait again? I’d just say “hey we’re going to go to this island and catch the ferry, this is too dangerous.” Don’t even give him the option if you know he’s competitive
if it was my best buddi i would have a hard time leaving him but that was the only right thing to do
I kinda liked the twit after a while he grew on me like a limpet clinging to a rock
This episode should be called "Dumb & Dumber"
Saul is not dumb.
That or Dumber and Dumbest; just not too sure which is which.
Hahahhaha
Larry took everything very lightly, even hid the the fact he was kayaking for the first time.
That is an incredible story. Everybody thinks they know what they would do in certain situations but the reality is you really do not. Having had the unfortunate thing of having two brothers die at different times in my life I have a very different take on this story than the comments I have read. It's an emotional rollercoaster of a vid and tbh I am not only glad Larry lived, but also that he and Saul managed to stay friends. Trust me they both learned a lot, mostly about themselves, from this and are better people because of this. Outstanding vid.
If they learned anything they probably wouldn't be in disagreement to this day whether it was the right choice to "leave" Larry to get help rather than both surely dying.
HE LEFT THE BOAT!? I’m out! Let the sea win!
The sea didn't want him...
😆🤣😂😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's something really wrong with Larry..I think he needs to get checked out, seriously. I'm not joking.

Underveloped Neocorplex
Larry should’ve been left on that island whilst Saul went for help at the easiest, closest island. So many bad decisions at once, and it’s unbelievable that they both survived.
How does a grown man blame another grown man
They’ve done worse things
the dark-haired guy is an airhead, he lied by omission, then blames his friend, abandons his canoe, swims for a buoy with his head in the water
Airhead was the exact same word I was thinking of for Larry, too
Do those buoy’s have reachable ladder rungs down lower now? Last time I was up close to one there was no way to climb it or reach the rungs.. Just barnacles. I hope they have lower ones by now.

Just in case no one else heard, he is an athlete. And he can do this.
Hey, I just thought everyone should know. That he is an athlete and that he did in fact do it to it.
Larry is such a show off, putting Saul’s life in danger and still not admitting his arrogance. He’s a no brainer
Saul knows that Larry won’t be able to make it choosing the hard route, but he still went on with it. Saul is also trying to be competitive and he should bear the blame too! For being competitive and not sharing care for his arrogant friend! He should clearly know that Larry is over his head and he should stop it

Worse comes to worse, my friend didn’t die to keep me company.
I think the guy who almost didn’t survive may have a rough time interpreting dangerous situations and making harsh yet critical decisions that lead to the most likely outcome of survival. Staying with his friend would have swept them both out to sea, and no one knew they were out there. Humility comes to mind. Glad they both survived.
