This was sooo much cooler than I had anticipated! When you laid down the basic beat, I thought, “Oh, it’s pretty a straightforward beat.” But there’s magic in those first two high hat ‘hits’, especially the “and” of 1. Dragging that close pedal put the biggest smile on my face. Another great lesson. Thanks, Shawn!
Great to hear, Scott!
Shawn, You should have a grin on your face because your teaching skills are top notch. I am looking forward to this Saturday live stream. Excellent lesson!!!! Please keep them coming.
Thank you, Braxal!
I've been programming drums for years but I always manage to learn something when I watch your videos. that I had trick was So simple yet so effective. Great job as always
Awesome!
That closing hi hat tsssk is so important. Yours sounds great! You’re also welcome to sing it 😉
Thank you, Jim!
A lot of people are good at what they do, but they are terrible at teaching it. You sir are a great teacher and have a unique way to communicate these ideas that is clear and concise. It helps that your voice is easy to listen to for a long period of time. I appreciate these lessons. I didn't want to recreate this beat, but I did learn the hi- hat squelsh which is exactly something I wanted to know. So thank you, and keep up the great work.
I appreciate you taking the time to say. Makes my day!
"Were you rushing? Or were you dragging?"
Great to see how to work the grid editor and articulations to match what’s you hear in your head!
/Walk This Way was a landmark song for getting into playing. A grade school friend’s mom took 8 of us (for his birthday) to see the ‘Toys In The Attic’ tour. #MindBlown
Sweet. I made it out for the Pump tour... my mom brought me ;)
Keep it comin'. I happened to hear zeppelin's Boogie With Stu today and thought, "Shawn ought to do that one". Sounds like it ought to be crazy simple but I bet there's a little finesse in there somewhere. As always, thanks so much.
I have not heard that song in forever. Keep them coming though Rocky, would love to do one you want. This song is just turning on a Delay.
Great demonstration. This is a good series.
Thank you, Mark!
Learning so much, thank you for these tutorials. Ace.
Thank you, Ken!
Love the channel. You always have great knowledge to teach. Very much enjoy and learn from your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!
More, more, more ☺️🙏🏻

Another awesome lesson. Keep on going this route!
Thanks!
You should do a drum build for the fine young cannibals - she drives me crazy. Very interesting beat!
I'll have to check it out... it's been a while since I heard it.
thanks for the squelch part, great stuff
You got it, Jean!
Grest tutorial, thanks.
Thanks, Mick! I appreciate you commenting on my videos!
Great tutorial videos I've always just grabbed beats or played the on keyboard I've been wanting to get better at programming the beats because I can get more details.
Great to hear!
These are great videos Shawn!!
Awesome! Thank you.
Good stuff! Keep it comin 🙏🏻
Thank you!
It would also be an idea to set the dot for the "closed pedal" AND the "closed edge" - it is possible for a real drummer. He closes the pedal with the foot und hit the HH with the hand.
Yesterday listen in my car to "Best of U2" and had to think about your series while hearing "Sunday bloody Sunday" and "Bullet the blue sky" both are great beats from Larry Mullen Jr. - but I am not sure if "Sunday bloody Sunday" could be recreated in EZD
Agreed.
It's been a bit, I'll have to take a listen myself.
Enjoyed this very much:) Do you know if this carries over to Super Drummer 3?
Certainly does.
This is my favorite song and Run DMC did a cover of it
Yes, a great collab!
@@ShootieSchool Run DMC really helped rejuvenate Aerosmith's music career
song request: the drum solo from The End by The Beatles
I'll give it a listen.
How do you decide when to use more or less kicks between the backbeats? Are there stylistic rules or is this just down to preference and taste? (Same question for when to use syncopation, but that might be a longer discussion for another time 😁)
That's a tough question for a reply. You can safely add kick in many spots, but listen to how it makes the snare/hats feel.
Thank You Shootie for all your hard work i'm far from being a drummer so i use ez drummer to help me but these course your doing have helped me so much and some tricks as well with things i didn't even knew existed in EZ Drummer
I appreciate that!
Thanks!
Thanks so much and for also being a member!
