- Programming the famous Come Together drum intro by The Beatles (Aerosmith) in Toontrack's EZDrummer 3 using the Grid Editor. This would work with Superior Drummer as well.

Also I get that Ringo has explained he plays Low to High tom and so on, yet it sounds nothing like that on this recording hence why I programmed it High To low... just listen for yourself 00:40.
This series is great, you're so good at building the grooves...It's like watching Bob Ross paint happy trees, but instead it's happy triplets! Thanks!
lol! I'll take that!
Great Tutorial Shawn. As a big beatles fan over 40 years now, that was a pleasure for me. And thx for all your knowledge about the Toontrack products you share with us!
Awesome, thank you!
Call me a fan boy of shootie, but my favorite part so far is seeing the teacher animated. Going to study this soon. TY.
Thanks for taking the time to say!
Loved what you did with the triplets on the toms. Made a subtle yet huge difference. Legend!
Every time I watch one of your tutorials you show us a feature I might have been a long time finding on my own. This time it was the hi-hat articulation. I probably still won't do a lot of drum programming from scratch but it's really helpful to learn where all the juicy bits are hiding. Thanks.
Great to hear, Dave. Thanks!
Uff, this is sooo inspiring... Thanks, thanks, tahnks!!!! Greetings from Argentina!
Welcome and thank you!
You are such a great communicator! Love these tutorials!
Thanks for saying!
Great video Shawn, that was a really useful tip about the 1/16t - thanks so much. Look forward to the next one!
Yes, it's great to know! Thanks!
this series is great
Thank you, Turtle!
Didn't just like it, I loved it 😎. So easy to follow along. I programmed it, duplicated it to 4 bars and then played along with my bass 🤘
Great to hear!
I have the hardest time transcribing Toms-- this really helped a lot!
Great to hear!
Great video brother! Very illuminating!
Nicely done love it. Looking forward to the next.
Thank you!
I am so glad I came across your channel ...this is GOLD!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome, great to hear!
@@ShootieSchool It's all good, quick question. Can we make requests? I would love to see you reconstruct Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little Bit More Baby" and Isaac Hayes "Theme From Shaft"
I will check it out and consider it. Thanks!
@@ShootieSchool I deeply appreciate that as well as your quick response. Have a wonderful weekend My Good Man
Rad dude, I have been going to you a lot for Toontrack stuff. Keep it up brother.
Great to hear!
Very good, man! Hope to see more soon. Thanks!
Thank you!
Love your tutorials, I always learn something new!
Awesome!
So helpful, great!
YES!
:)
Nicely done! Thanks for walking through the workings of the grid editor with a classic part. I wondered what the difference between triplets & dotted notes is & if the note duration list includes dotted notes..will have to dive into EZ Drummer & see if I can recognize how they feel. Cheers!
Thank you! I'm not sure if dotted notes are valuable unless it's a melodic instrument.
Excellent vid, thanks! Very helpful!
Great, thank you!
Super helpful! Thank you!
You got it!
wow man triplets... got to experiment with those,, another cool video
Awesome!
Great video, very helpful ! 👍
Awesome!
Terrific.
Thanks!
Your vids are the best!!
Thank you, Phil!
This was exactly what I needed. Triplets do not confound me anymore. Henceforth they are my minions! And the gentle massaging of that 55 year old beat took it from sterile to earthy and convincing. Great tips. Thanks!
Awesome!!
that was great tks !!
You got it!
That was a fun video, learning new ideas as usual here!! Thanks Shawn
Great to hear!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks Shawn, and congrats on the 20k subs.
Thank you, Bob!
On the tom fill ringo starts on the floor tom for 6 then to the rack tom for 4. His explanation for this is that he's a left handed player playing on a right handed kit and it feels more comfortable to him. It's also according to him why his right hand swings to being late on a lot of fills because he has to take extra time to cross hi right hand over.
Thanks Tom. I've heard stuff like this, which I'm sure is true. 00:40 Certain sounds high to low to me which is why I programmed it that way.
@@ShootieSchool yeah there's an interview with Ringo here on YT with him sitting behind a kit and explaining it. I had to go back and find it to make sure I was thinking of the right song. Any way I enjoyed your tutorial and know the technicalities of his playing wasn't the focus.
@@tomw1970 I appreciate that. I've seen it to. I just don't hear it, do you?
@@ShootieSchool vaguely but you have to listen close. I think because he might have a larger rack tom or a smaller floor tom and tuned closer to each other. I hear it more in the overtones.
@ShootieSchool When I play it on my Roland td-17kvx, I play 6 notes on first rack tom, and then 2 notes on second rack tom, last 2 notes on floor tom. I've seen the Ringo interview but it sounds right when I play it.
This is such a cool series, Shawn. They wind up being as much ear training as EZ Drummer training. Maybe that was your plan all along. Haha. As you know, I’ve been experimenting with creating my own fills and this series is what kickstarted my attempts.
Thank you, Scott and keep it up!
Would love to see you do one for Whipping Post intro and verse
Will consider it.
@@ShootieSchool I would love to see on the grid editor how you construct the intro in 11 timing
I'm enjoying this series and I'm learning a lot. I don't know if it was me or you, but the resolution on your grid editor was pretty poor. I couldn't read any of the numbers or words. I was able to figure it out for the most part, but I haven't had that problem before. Regardless, great stuff as always. Thanks Shawn
Thank you, Rocky. Sometime on the video there is a little Gear Icon. If the video is blurry, select that icon and make sure you're watching the maximum resolution.
Arrowsmith recorded their version of Come Together for the 1978 Sgt Pepper Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (film). Also Ringo did a demo of Come Together ua-cam.com/video/vl9188EPdLI/v-deo.htmlsi=-utVz58UGd-v5bib&t=120
Sweet!
To bad it doesn't have Ringoizer.
Lol! Would be cool though.
great vid but Ringo started low on the toms and rolled high , he always led with his left hand just saying .
Thank you, David. I've got to go with my ears, which may be off. The first tom hit sounds higher and the last sounds lower. If they documented the studio session, I'd love to see it.
I thought Come Together was Aerosmith too! Was like "Who the F is ruining this song?!?!"
I was 10🏳
Lol!
Great video brother! Very illuminating!
Thank you!
