Thanks, Shawn for all the time you put in on these. Your videos are becoming a "must-see" for all new Toontrack releases.
Thanks for saying!!
Those snares man!
I think that this is the most expressive SDX yet!
Round robins for- centre, off centre, edge, rim and shallow rim gives dozens of subtle (and less subtle) variations on the snare drum alone!
Then multiply that by all the different velocities and you have a single snare drum that can make hundreds, or maybe even thousands of different sounds!
This is amazing!
I hope that Toontrack soon start to sample left hand and right hand strikes for each articulation, for all of their SDXs too (like they did for A33 origin) as this adds a barely perceptible, yet very real layer of stereo realism.
Amazing work!
Yeah I don’t think they’ve historically done that for any existing SDXs (or would it be practical to), but going forward you bet they’re going to do this for the new libraries
camco sounds brilliant
This sounds amazing
Yes!
A new EBX for EZ Bass came out today & it's called Synth Bass EBX
I did pick it up.
@@ShootieSchool That ROCKS
Great walkthrough! I'm curious: How does one use articulations that are not MIDI-mapped?
You assign midi notes to them. You could use Midi Learn or the edrum a page.
I would love to hear those drums playing a style other than jazz. but so far no one has done it. It is the first SDX that in the demos resists playing a genre other than the one its title says.
I’ve been using the Studio A Ludwig kit in a classic rock like tune. It has an huge John Bonham sound. Adds tremendous energy to the sound.
@@bear-facedcow230 Oh really? That's good news. It all sounds really good. But not listening to it with midi other than Jazz makes me afraid to buy it and see that it only works for jazz. It is the first SDX that seems to definitely only serve its title. But I hear Motown vibes, and early rollings, Beatles too. Except for kick drums (for Motown I think kick drums do work).
Thanks for chiming in, Bear.
@@bear-facedcow230 I bought it. you were right. trying it right now. and from that drum you can get Bohnam's style, especially I think Led Zeppelin IV
Minimal installation 70 GB, still huge
It's a lot, it's been the standard for a while now though.
@@ShootieSchool SDX like Death, Darkness, Progressive foundry, Stories, Stockholm, work fine with less than 20 GB each, and EZX like Big Stage, Main Room, Bright room sound great in SD3 with less than 10 GB each
@@ShootieSchool Some people complain with the minimal installation they have access only to the kicks, hi-hats and cymbals in the library when they do "search for instrument" if they want to stack toms or snare they can't, this issue is almost sorted out with the complete installation except some of the floor toms are not available either. This is not normal, could you check if there's the same issue with your SDX please ?
@@ShootieSchool Never mind, I contacted Toontrack, they said there's a problem indeed, they already made an SDX update to fix that bug
