Fantastic video again Shawn. I didn’t know the kit pieces could be rearranged on the grid editor. Note to Toontrack: Don’t wait for Metal Month to hire Shawn because he is the GURU of all things Toontrack!
I don't normally comment but dude, your passion, ability to communicate and understanding is second to none. I really appreciate you man. Thank you for living. 🙂
Wow this video is great! I just ran into your channel looking at random items. Your doing really well on showing how to use this program. I hope you have a ton more to help me with superior drummer 3!!! Thank you!!
Another great video. These videos really are top drawer. Would love to see more on how you use velocity, randomisation and dynamics when dealing with patterns from other drum generes.
Thanks for this awesome metal month series. I am really enjoying the way you describe things. You are definitely one of the most positive UA-camrs out there! Keep up the great work!
Excellent tutorial on a subject that I never paid enough care and attention to. I never consciously applied the purpose of fills for guiding the listener to the transition... Raise the energy or lower it. Thanks!
What can I say? Thanks again, Shawn. Between this series and your course that I bought, I have a lot of things to work on and to work with. Happy Thanksgiving, brother.
As a guitarist I have no problem keeping Rhythm but I find it really difficult to keep time and transition with fills and different grooves. Thanks Shawn
You're a natural Shawn. Really enjoy your videos. Would you ever consider doing a video on using a MIDI controller with EZDrummer to bash out drum parts for a song? Your videos on using EZDrummer's inbuilt songwriting capabilities are fantastic, but I'm one of those people that sometimes bashes out drum parts on a MIDI keyboard directly into my DAW. Do you ever use EZDrummer that way? For example, how would you go about doing a cover version of a song that has a very specific drum track and you want it to be true to the original as note perfect as you can get it? So you wouldn't be using EZDrummer as a songwriting tool but more of a tool to actually copy a drum track if you were doing a cover version. Thanks again!
Sometimes you're teaching things you probably don't know you're teaching... For example, in this case I was wondering how you were getting that "Jump to Time" window, found it ctrl j in Reaper, very useful.
Frank thanks so much for your support in the past. I lay my markers out on the downbeat of each section, so if I need preroll, it’s a fast option to get it! I was just double clicking the time display, so I learned from you in this one. Thank you!
Your videos are awesome, but I'm spending way too much time trying to figure out how you brought up that "jump to time/marker/region" window. You clicked outside of the frame, and all my Google searches lead to dead ends. I'm sure it's super easy, but can you help this newbie out?
So it appears when you insert or just plainly add a fill to the end of a section, it's shortening that section to exact time of the fill which is great , for obvious reasons of not changing the length of the song or arrangement, do you have to set it up in some way or is that just the it automatically works ?
I've got Adobe Audition CC that I use as my DAW. I'm having an awful time trying to get the ED3 plugin working. I go into the AA prefs and point AA to the plugin folder, then run the scan and nothing populates. What am I doing wrong?
Oh wow! Thanks for replying! Yes, I have read that page many times. All my music buddies are telling me to ditch Audition saying that it's too proprietary. I'm thinking about trying Presonus Studio One. What are your thoughts? Thanks agian!@@ShootieSchool
Anybody wanna program some stuff for me using Logic/Ezdrm. ..........holy smokes.....just had an awakening. You rock. Shawn! I knew some of that drum humanize stuff and obvious drummer impossible riffs but the way you explained it (I think you're a drummer, right?), Its perfection, So now, .....I have Logic Pro and EZdrummer and just beginning to understand. this shit. Thanks. ummm, I suppose I have to watch all your stuff now. So, I'm gonna have to make room watching Shogun and whatever movie I have seen 5 times on Netflix and write more hard stuff or anything for that matter. I'm almost 60yrs old ( I don't surf anymore or skate/snow.....my guitar will be in my coffin) Toontrack....yah, I suppose Ive only tapped into it about 1% ,lol. It has a lot of potential and your insight about programming. hmmm....well, gonna be busy for awhile watching your vids. Thanks, I will donate shortly. I'm so glad someone is looking out for other musician like you. Keep it up! Slayer rules, by the way! I play the axe and dabble on drumEZdrummer......Anybody here can program me some stuff. I can send riffs , I use Locifg Pro..lemme know!

Just stumbled across this video. First, you're a great teacher. 👏👏 Second, great info! I love EZD so I'll def be incorporating this into my workflow.
Welcome! Come back for more when you're ready.
Thank you for the lessons super helpful! I’m not playing metal but it doesn’t matter. The way you’re teaching applies to all genres😁👍
You got it, thanks!

Your videos are amazing when you program a drum you need to think like a drummer! The same to bass and others instruments! So cool man!
Thank you for saying, Luiz!
Always an inspiration to us Shawn, Thank you

Amazing video! I learned a lot of little tricks in this one

Great comment, thank you!
Metal Month! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Loving this content and definitely selling me on the Toontrack stuff I need to pick up, still.
Rock on \m/
every month is metal month. Wait, I think this month is smooth jazz month.. okay.
What can I say? Thanks again, Shawn. Between this series and your course that I bought, I have a lot of things to work on and to work with. Happy Thanksgiving, brother.
Have a great holiday, Rocky!!
Congrats on 1200 view in two days but ~1100 of those are me. Happy Turkey day to all.
Lol!!! Well thank you!!
As a guitarist I have no problem keeping Rhythm but I find it really difficult to keep time and transition with fills and different grooves. Thanks Shawn

A video similar to this is bound to happen sooner or later from me.
And yes, I work like that when it's instinctual.
Thank you!
yeah, F, I wanna see Shawn play the Roland mesh.
Great job explaining. Keep it up.
Thank you! Will do!

@@ShootieSchool Double click, even better

I'm using Markers in Reaper. Not within EZD.
@ thanks
Hi, thx for this video. How do you rename a midi part as for example pre-verse ? 😉
Right Click>Song Part>Manage Parts.
So it appears when you insert or just plainly add a fill to the end of a section, it's shortening that section to exact time of the fill which is great , for obvious reasons of not changing the length of the song or arrangement, do you have to set it up in some way or is that just the it automatically works ?
That is the default behavior. Just drag and drop.
I've got Adobe Audition CC that I use as my DAW. I'm having an awful time trying to get the ED3 plugin working. I go into the AA prefs and point AA to the plugin folder, then run the scan and nothing populates. What am I doing wrong?

@@mosfet74 I recommend anything besides Pro Tools due to their price and support quality. Reaper has a great demo that you can compare Studio One to.
I lean on stocks way too much, but this just sparked a dozen ideas. Excellent walkthrough!
Thank you, Scott!
How can i get half of an 8 beat fill into a 4 beat song section?
Drag it where you want. Then scrub the sides of the groove with the arrow tool.
Great tutorial! Thanks a lot!
Thank you!
Subscribed...well how could you not!
Welcome!!
🙏
Does it only me, or drum kits themselves looking kinda pixelated on hidpi screens with scaling?
