The last part with the cymbals made me smile when I played it back. I might go and start a Metallica Tribute band and just play this song over and over :)
I love it! You forgot to add the shaker though! Bob rocks secret ingredient to add movement. It’s all over the black album. Notably on this enter sandman intro, the sad but true riff immediately following the intro, and countless other spots on the album. Bob rock said the shaker was not added to be heard, though it is audible, but rather to be felt. So you don’t notice it until it’s taken away.
A great video and insightful as always!!! I've learned heaps of cool tips from you. Another trick you could possibly cover is exporting the drum track out of GuitarPro tabs as a MIDI file then importing them into EZ drummer. A few minor tweaks sometimes needed but otherwise it saves heaps of time! And really cool for different needs/options for jamming. Example, I've exported some Mike Portnoy beats, changed a couple of accents or power hand and then jammed some of my own riffs with Mike Portnoy's beats! Still hanging for the day he does an EZ Drummer pack!!!
Man, placing drum beats has never been more exciting! Great lesson! And the lingo! I'll have a four in the floor, backbeat on the floor toms, but hold the snare and cymbals for the accented dessert.
Thanks Shawn, I hope toon tracks is paying you a lot of money. I'm an old guitar player. And was using addictive drums That came with cakewalk producer that I bought several years ago. Last Christmas, I bought the Roland TD KVX2 Electric drums. and was trying to hook them up and I couldn't figure it out, so I decided to buy EZ drummer 3. And still haven't figured out how to hook them up, but thanks to you I've been able to learn how to use EZ Drummer 3 pretty quick. you're the best.
Great to hear, David. I get people up and running all of the time with their ekits if you're looking for help. Info is here: shootieschool.com/private-lessons/
Again, shooting another great job. I saw you mentioned about tuning the Tom and floor Tom is that possible to tune in EZD would love to see a tutorial on how to properly tune drums down to lower.🤘
REALLY REALLY NICE!!! Thank you for this! One question: Do you have a video that shows how to get the icons and the Beautiful look of your grid editor on the far left side?
@@ShootieSchool Alaso, I just subscribed to "Next Level", nad noticed the vast majority is ED3 (and ED2). Although SD3 has been around for awhile, are you still going to be doing any "next level" with it as well? Love the channel, and will be supporting it either way.
Shawn, another killer video. I reviewed your $5 membership with UA-cam and it appears that most of the videos are for EZ Drummer 3. Would they work with Superior Drummer 3? I also have EZ bass. Please advise on my best option for what I have. I appreciate your lessons.
For the most part yes, excluding a few videos on Bandmate and the Humanize button. You can always cancel, in the case you watch a few vids and it's not worth it. My channel won't shift focus until SD4 comes out, fyi. Though I am thinking of doing one paid SD3 course... so you know what my plans are.
@@ShootieSchool I never think your videos are not worth it. Your videos are from what I see worth it. I take it that getting EZ Drummer 3 maybe a waste buying with SD4, I bet soon to come out. Keep me posted on the SD3 course. I appreciate your teaching and style.
I love this series. Great! In this case, it is clearly notable, that Midi Drums can not have those "hard dynamics" that a real drummer has. Especially here the last measure (the fill) with the three accents. A real drummer can give that a real hard punch, which is unfortunately not possible with Midi drums, due of the margin of 0-127 velocity - or correct if I´m wrong.
Thank you! I would say that is completely up to the user. I don't find myself thinking that. One thing to note especially with metal is that drummers typically incorporate the rimshot when going as hard possible.
Another great lesson! Your channel is pure GOLD for composers!!! I used ALOT of you tips making the drum track to my song "Mediterranean Nights" - I used two drum kits making it - The Latin Groove kit and the Standard Rock Kit. Thanks for the lessons. ua-cam.com/video/R3XyPfzWQDE/v-deo.html
Awesome job communicating the building of this beat, as always 🙂
Thank you, Dominic!
If you'll keep teaching, I'll keep learning. Thanks Shawn. Great series.

This made my morning. One of the first rock songs I ever heard and always awesome to learn more pieces of the puzzle, so I can play it. Rock on!
You're the best!
Great discussion and lesson. Great facts and very helpful .
Thank you, Charles!
Great video, thanks!

Yes, on the Drums Tab there's a tuning knob for each instrument. I have a Drums Tab course on my site if interested in paid training.
Incredible video man 🤘🏻thanks!! What ezx is that one?
Thanks! Hard Rock.
Hell yeah, another revealing teaching! Thanks for enlightening us... at least me. Rock on!
Thank you, Jean!
A EZ Drummer lesson of the drums in the Intro of Keep the faith by Bon Jovi would be cool!
That is a busy beat... would never had thought of it.
dude you have Metalica on here???😲🤘 SWEET!!

Thanks! If you look on the far right of the grid editor, you'll see two small Zoom buttons. They will reveal the drum icons.
@@ShootieSchool Thank you brother!

Metallica ain't lady gaga and they can shit on the beat if they want to.
Metallica writes the laws of music.
