Fairly often I'll hear people hating on ORAS, and I just don't get it. Other than the Battle Frontier not being there, it is a phenomenal remake that added so much cool stuff that the original didn't have, and this video did a great job highlighting that.

And for good reason, he clearly transpires the idea of "nostalgia" onto his Pokémon vids, like he said in the beggining of this video. Just the knowledge about what he is talking, the good commentary, the palpable "I have experience this throughoutly" feeling and (cliché word incoming), of course, the sheer _emotion_ behind it all, makes me feel so much nostalgic and heart-warmed watching your content. If someone ever asked me to try and encapsulate what it feels to be a Pokémon fan and why so many people love this franchise and look fondly upon it, I'd probably just reccommend them your channel. Your channel is what being a Pokémon Fan feels ❤
I'd love to see a Part 2! Sinnoh for me is like what Hoenn is for you. It just feels so cozy, and I'd love to see your favorite areas from there. This was such a neat idea for a video, and it really makes me appreciate just how diverse all the different regions are. People always complain about how repetitive Pokemon games have been as of late, but one thing that always feels fresh is exploring the different regions.
I've always loved the more rural feeling of Iccirus (I think that's how it's spelled) city in gen 5, it really makes you feel like you've stepped into a new world separate from the rest of Unova, also it has the most differences between the seasons than any other city in the games
Love videos like this! It reminds me of how much time I’d spend as a kid just walking and walking again the region of the latest Pokémon game, absorbing the atmosphere, looking for anything I missed, talking to NPCs again, etc. I’ve always loved the sense of adventure a Pokémon region conveys, particularly starting in Gen 3.
Hoenn was my first region when I started playing video games. I remember so many great and terrible things when playing through sapphire version for the first time. Emerald version gave me a great time battling my way through the battle dome and giving me a fondness for tournaments in any and all kinds of sporting events. And then the remakes gave me the chance to redeem myself from younger year screw ups in one of the best atmospheres in a Pokémon game. I’m glad you couldn’t list just ten locations for Hoenn! Hoenn needs a lot more love!
One of my favourite things about the lake of rage is that it has a time based event where for one day a week the rain stops, allowing you to further explore new places when the water level goes down. Such an interesting mechanic. Also I love the whirl islands in johto, I prefer them over the ice path as a dungeon
Very good choices for the Hoenn list, almost my entire personal top 10 made it on there! The only ones I was disappointed not to see were Mt. Chimney (neat atmosphere and the cable car is a ton of fun) and Pacifidlog Town (a slightly goofy concept but a really unique location, I love running between the floating houses on top of logs).
Route 47 and the Bell Chime Trail are some of my favorite places in HGSS. Honesty Route 47’s music is what does it for me the most. I love the beautiful fall look of the Bell Chime trail

MT.Coronet the atmosphere is really good in Pokemon Platinum as for MT.Silver in HeartGold and Soulsilver its awesome going to the top of the mountain battling Red that was memorable locations for me both.
That was great. As someone who started playing Pokémon with Gen 3, I will always have a lot of nostalgia for the various areas. Love the ORAS updates to Mauville City especially. I hope you get the attention on this to make another!
I will never understand how the things that were added/changed in Oras were some of the best parts, and then they decided bdsp had to be a completely faithful remake
I would LOVE to see this video for each region. Designs and layouts of locations are some of the most charming things in Pokemon games to me, and I love hearing you enjoy them too. Can't wait for part two. This has been one of my favorite videos you've made in a while
What a beautiful video, Ron! I think all three regions you discussed are cool! Although my preference goes to Hoenn, and its great fusion of natural and man-made. Route 113, Lilycove City, the Underwater areas, Route 119 and Sootopolis City are some of my ABSOL-lute favorites, and if I were to live in the Pokémon world, I'd not hesitate to choose the Hoenn region as my preferred place to live in! It feels so natural, both literally and figuratively.
Really loved this video, Ron!!! It’s super cool getting to relive some of these places and feelings through someone else’s perspective. You definitely made me want to go replay ORAS, haha!
Omega Ruby was my first pokemon game and I loved all the unique locations in the game, it feels like the region is really alive. I'm glad you where able to represent all of it's amazing locations.
Y'know I actually really loved this video, it was a great nostalgia trip for me, as someone that also likes to explore every corner of the games. A great location from Unova that I think at least deserves an honorable mention are the Castelia Sewers for being a great mostly optional dungeon in BW2. It's amazing to have had a sewer level in gen 5 for the first time ever. And I think the best City in Unova has to be Virbank City, something about it just gives me amazing vibes. Honestly I think you'll have a hard time narrowing down the 10 best places for these regions, that'd be hard.
You have such a gift for reinvigorating the WONDER of Pokémon in us, Ron. The locales, music, and human characters are, next to creature design, my three favorite aspects of Pokémon - thank you for helping us all better appreciate the artistry that has gone into crafting the Pokémon world!
Sure it may didn't go too well in terms of views but plz make part 2 I really really really enjoyed it It was just so much fun. Keep making quality videos
i HIGHLY recommend giving a shoutout to anistar city, as its crystal sundial is not only a great landmark, but it's also got some relevance as well since it helps you find the mega stones
Ik this may not have done as well as you had hoped but I really love this idea of highlighting locations from each region and going into depth of what makes them so special and magical. Not only was it really nice to see Hoenn get the love it deserves, but also getting to see versions of locations I had never seen before (mostly the LGP/E stuff) was a wonderful treat!! Either way, wonderful video TG !! :D
Man, it's been a while since I played ORAS and I forgot how amazing the new Mauville city was. And the underwater! And Sootopolis city!!! I really have to replay that game someday! Route 120 (specifically the place at 15:40) was where I liked to make my secret base. :]
Nice to know that the Sevii Islands are one of your favourite Pokemon locations as well. I love how the islands came as a complete (and very pleasant) suprise when I first played LeafGreen, and also that they have just the right amount of variety without overwhelming you with new content.
I really liked this video! As soon as I saw the title I knew I would! Your opinion videos are some of my favorites on your channel. I think you have a way of expressing your feelings and ideas about all things related to Pokemon that is very engaging and fun to watch :D I would love to see a part 2 and 3, especially because I'd love to hear your opinion on the routes of USUM. These were the games I played after years of being away from the franchise, so I am very fond of Gen 7 as a whole because of it!
I really like the landscapes in Pokémon. It really brings the games to life. Kalos is my favourite region for its design. I love Parfum Palace, Laverre City, and Lumiose City
My personal favorite location in the Hisui region, is probably [spoilers] But for an actual location, probably Cobalt Coastlands The place where you fight Arceus, idk it’s just really cool looking and fitting for THE final boss and a clone of the literal god
The power plant is my favorite location in Kanto simply because it's entirely optional. Can you imagine remembering a water route from hours ago that you have no reason to go back to, then going back to that route anyway after getting surf because "who knows?", and then being treated with a building made of unique assets and pokemon you can't catch anywhere else including a whole legendary!?
I never paid much attention to pokemon locations, until the route leading to the Fairy Gym in Galar. The forest is *breathtaking*. Everything about it from the glowing mushrooms to the pokemon you can find there was so atmospheric an interesting. I couldn't even get mad when I got turned around there, because it really felt like I was supposed to in line with the fairytale theming, and the scenery was always worth the extra time. I can't recall a visual for any other location in any pokemon game because my visual memory is quite awful in general, but that route had such an impact on me that I don't think I can ever forget it. Hands down the best location in all of pokemon for me.
It makes me really happy knowing that there’s so many other people who enjoy Pokémon for the same reasons I do. I really appreciate the videos you put together because I don’t feel like I see this side of the fan base as much. Thanks so much for all your hard work, Ron ☺️
Hoenn route 113 will always be my favorite place! It’s a bit dusty and a bit dirty, but the music and falling ash are beautiful! Can’t wait for part 2!
This was a blast to watch! Even if it wasn't a criteria for the ranking, the background music combined with the gameplay shown on screen perfectly underlined everything said in the video! Now I want to revisit all the regions. :-) Excited for 4 - 6 and 7 - 9 if you decide to do it!
I feel like this is a topic I haven't thought about too much in the past, but now that you mention it, I'm just thinking about all the incredible places in different regions! having recently replayed most of the series (gen 4 to 8, including the remakes made in relevant gens), there's definitely a few places that stick out in my head, like wayward cave and the route leading up to it in platinum, or chargestone cave and celestial tower from unova. gen 6 had a handful of interesting places too, but I think gen 7 did incredibly well with it's setting. can't wait/really hoping for more of these videos!
Route 110 is really good one. It's a route with a nice challenge limit with both that Double Battle and the Rival Battle to give you pause, the trick house and cycling road challenge to give you reason to return, the optional surfing section to encourage exploration, and even hidden items. It's honestly got a little bit of all the best of everything hoenn has to offer.
I absolutely cannot think about Unova without first thinking of Castelia City. That place is breathtaking and it was so magical traversing through it for the first time as a kid. I didn't understand why so many people loved the franchise until I played Pokemon Black. It wasn't my first game, yet it ended up being my favorite and it still is to this day. I also remember adoring everything about Nimbasa City. Elesa's gym is 100% one of the best gym designs in the series. On top of that, the ferris wheel scene with N is quite memorable. And don't even get me started on their awesome soundtracks...I really loved everything those two cities had to offer! I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I really hope Ron mentions both Castelia and Nimbasa in the next part. Those games just wouldn't be the same without them.
Pls make part 2 and 3!! I loved this vid, Hoenn is my home so that was my favorite segment and I completely agree it warrants 15 spots! The ORAS updates made it my all time favorite region
The #1 pick in each region was the correct pick each time (I guessed each one beforehand and got them all correct). It just goes to show that the designers really know how to make you feel like you're on an adventure and how to feel in certain locations. Greta video! Looking forward to the next part!
It’s obviously gonna be there because of just how grand it is but I really do love how they made Lumios so alive. From the giant prism tower, the shopping avenues, small parks, and even the shady, kinda abandoned back alleys, Lumisose is beautiful. The way they shaped it like a poke all as the hub of the game is ingenious, and the fact that it still remains so confusing and puzzle like despite its deceptively simple design from the map is great. Other mentions are the Kalos Pokémon league with its magnificent beauty, the grandiose tower of mastery and witty entrance method of it, Laverre City’s beautiful fall aesthetic and the dilapidated swamp with eerie vibes and the shady playground leading up to it, and the abandoned Pokémon playground. All Pokémon regions have some pretty great places but Kalos just hits and hits
One of the things I loved about Emerald was how the Magma base was in the Jagged Pass. It fit so much better than in an ocean cave and fit their theme better
I also hear people just despising ORAS. It was phenomenal, and it did a good job of remaking one of my favorite regions in Pokemon. (P.S. Plz make pt 2. I want to hear what your favorite part of Kalos is.)
Hoenn is always my favorite region to play in because of the variety of places you go through. Also I NEED the next part just so we can praise Sinnoh a bit. Mt coronet is such an amazing location. I love how the mountain acts as a natural and believable obstacle in your journey and that you revisit it many times, exploring more and more, before reaching the snow covered peak. Not to mention how important it is in the lore.
Really agree with your decisions for this video. If you end up making the next video, I would reccommend the Black 2 version of Route 4 of Unova and the calming charm of Aspertia where, despite being the first hometown that's also a city, breathes an aire of familiarity and kindness to the town.
Kalos is an underrated region, the entire sequence of routes between the first and second gym is top tier. Beautiful lakefronts, caves, huge cliffsides, an aquarium, and the beach.
Hoenn has always been my favorite and I really love the attention to detail in the remakes. Your video showed me some of the hidden details, I didn't think about. I really wish the DS and 3DS games were playable on the TV like you can with a gameboy player so you could appreciate all their glory and point out more things instead of restricting it all to a 2 inch screen
Hoenn really stepped game, lots of iconic locations that I always look forward too seeing again in my playthroughs! I'm surprised to not see any forest routes making the list, they're consistently some of my favorites locations, especially in Kanto and Johto.
Oras was the game that hyped me up for sinnoh remakes. That is how you do a remake. Great music recompositions, revamped yet recognizable locations, stunning character redesigns, and extended story content. I still sometimes boot it up just to fly around with latias/latios.
I like route 47’s dual layer design, the cliffside aesthetic, and although this is my gen 3 nostalgia speaking the embedded tower and ability to catch the gen 3 legendaries is so cool
For Unova, I feel that how you can add to the music by talking to the NPCs definitely deserve at least an honorable mention. My favourite locations in Unova has to be Marine Tube and Humilau City though!
My favourite location in hoenn is mosdeep city. The laid back island aesthetic combined with the high tech space research centre makes for a very unique island. The marshy/shallow water type area around the island is also the first of its kind. All of this combined with the fact that Steven's home(and the post game beldum) is here, makes mossdeep my personal Pokemon home town If i was to become a gym leader I'd be a dark type leader in mossdeep, who's works at the space centre in my off time.
Spin-off regions have some surprisingly intense locations. My personal favorite involves a mountain with literal lightning strikes within the player’s vicinity that can only reached by legit flying through a thunderstorm.
Kanto, though honestly the least interesting region, is still pretty cool in its own right with many nice places. Johto was very cool as well. A step up from Kanto, and it felt nice and full of life. Hoenn was wonderful. The region had a wide variety of interesting and fun locations. Though it isn't my favourite, it felt amazing to explore around here. A few mentions for the upcoming three. Sinnoh, Mount Coronet was such a main location in the region that was nice overall. The Old Chateau was a fairly interesting haunted place. And of course, got to mention the Distortion World, such a twisted but cool place. Unova, the Abyssal Ruins was such a mysterious and interesting place. N's Castle was such a fascinating place. Though plot importance helps its status, it was very cool regardless. Nimbasa City. Though not the biggest in Unova, it was full of life and things to do there. Kalos. Must say Lumiose City, it was such a big city. It felt big, but it also felt like everything to do there was still in fair reach. Route 15/16. Some routes in Unova came to mind, but not quite as much as some other places. Kalos though, these two routes felt incredible to wander around. The Frost Cavern was such a fun snowy area and ice cave.
I’m happy lilycove made the honorable mentions. It’s my favorite city. I went there all the time to go to the general store and also just to hangout in the waves.
You always have such interesting ideas for Pokemon videos; I would love to see you make lists like this for each of the other regions. Although I am a little surprised that you extended your list just for Hoenn and there was no mention of Verdanturf Town, or the route connecting Verdanturf and Mauville. Those are some of my favorite location in Hoenn.
Slateport city reminds me of a neighborhood in my city, on Sunday there's an outdoor market place that happens, there's a ship yard, a small lighthouse, many restaurants and bars, and small historical places that tall about the founding of the square/port and the city. Places in pokemon that remind me of my city are my personal favorite. Another example is castellia city, reminds me of San Francisco even though i know its based on New York but you have to admit that both places are pretty similar, San Francisco has all those ports, tall buildings, diverse people, and 2 giant parks as well as 2 iconic bridges, probably one of the 10 most iconic in the world. Another city would be virbank, it reminds me of oakland, a city riddled with poverty, which often makes it seem gloomy and dark, it looks somewhat trashy but has a similar vibe being close to the water and all Undella town reminds me of Alameda, its a small island off of oakland that has many houses that look kinds similar, it has a beach and you can see San Francisco from the coast as well as that whole side of the bay. I didn't want to completely doxx myself so I wanted to just say multiple parts of the bay that reminded me of pokemon for the people who wanted to look at pictures of different cities in the bay and compare them to pokemon cities.
Pokémon world is one of the most amazing world in videogames ever. Now I NEED a 2nd part with Sinnoh and Unova, as they have some of the best locations in the entire franchise 😍❤️

This is a nice cosey video for a saturday afternoon
Especially before going to comic con/ fan expo
Hoenn route 113 will always be my favorite place! It’s a bit dusty and a bit dirty, but the music and falling ash are beautiful! Can’t wait for part 2!
This was a blast to watch! Even if it wasn't a criteria for the ranking, the background music combined with the gameplay shown on screen perfectly underlined everything said in the video! Now I want to revisit all the regions. :-) Excited for 4 - 6 and 7 - 9 if you decide to do it!
Awesome video, your top 10 type videos are always incredibly well thought out and articulate
Definitely need a part 2! Excited to see your thoughts on Kalos locations
ORAS took Mawville and said, "you need more style kid"
Please make part 2! Unova has some of my favorite locations in all of Pokemon!
I loved Route 111 so much in Hoenn that I moved to the desert as an adult lol
Really agree with your decisions for this video. If you end up making the next video, I would reccommend the Black 2 version of Route 4 of Unova and the calming charm of Aspertia where, despite being the first hometown that's also a city, breathes an aire of familiarity and kindness to the town.
My guy, you have GOT to do part two if only for Unova! unova is so chock full of Places!
what a fun video and yes hoenn has so many awesome places. still my favourite game. especially the music makes me so happy 💖
PART 2 IS DEFINITELY NEEDED
HOPE U SEE THIS COMMENT
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE, AND THERE'S EVEN HISUI NOW!
i disagree with the kanto safari zone being something you'd "want to play over and over again" its painful.
I actually frowned when I heard this video only covers the first three regions. Looking forward to more videos on this topic!
Even though Glimwood Tangle was short, both the music and the 24 hr livestream made me adore this short route
The battle frontier in ORAS is by far the best place in all of Pokémon
Kalos is an underrated region, the entire sequence of routes between the first and second gym is top tier. Beautiful lakefronts, caves, huge cliffsides, an aquarium, and the beach.
Hoenn has always been my favorite and I really love the attention to detail in the remakes. Your video showed me some of the hidden details, I didn't think about. I really wish the DS and 3DS games were playable on the TV like you can with a gameboy player so you could appreciate all their glory and point out more things instead of restricting it all to a 2 inch screen
Gen 5 has some great places like the dream yard, pinwheel forest, lost forest black city and white forest and I love all the cities and towns
Great video and cool to hear your perspective on these locations!
Hoenn really stepped game, lots of iconic locations that I always look forward too seeing again in my playthroughs! I'm surprised to not see any forest routes making the list, they're consistently some of my favorites locations, especially in Kanto and Johto.
Love videos about locations! I love them but they’re usually not talked about
Oras was the game that hyped me up for sinnoh remakes. That is how you do a remake. Great music recompositions, revamped yet recognizable locations, stunning character redesigns, and extended story content. I still sometimes boot it up just to fly around with latias/latios.
It’s so nice to watch your videos after listening to the podcast!
I like route 47’s dual layer design, the cliffside aesthetic, and although this is my gen 3 nostalgia speaking the embedded tower and ability to catch the gen 3 legendaries is so cool
As a joke you should add route 1 from Kalos, its litarily a straight line, where you can't even encounter any pokemon
Top picks! Pokémon has so many iconic and memorable places. ✨✨✨
ORAS was my first game i actually played through so i definitely have a lot of fond memories of the surfing and going underwater mechanics
I'm surprised pacifidlog town didn't make honorable mentions.
The Distortion World NEEDS to be in the next video.
For Unova, I feel that how you can add to the music by talking to the NPCs definitely deserve at least an honorable mention. My favourite locations in Unova has to be Marine Tube and Humilau City though!
Unova and Kalos are my favorite regions, I NEED a part two
My favourite location in hoenn is mosdeep city. The laid back island aesthetic combined with the high tech space research centre makes for a very unique island. The marshy/shallow water type area around the island is also the first of its kind. All of this combined with the fact that Steven's home(and the post game beldum) is here, makes mossdeep my personal Pokemon home town
If i was to become a gym leader I'd be a dark type leader in mossdeep, who's works at the space centre in my off time.
Absolutely need a second part because I have to know what locations you'd pick for Unova! (my favorite region)
Loved this video! Really hope to see the next one!
I would love a part 2 for this video. Gen 4 & 5 are my favorite in the series with so many amazing locations
Spin-off regions have some surprisingly intense locations. My personal favorite involves a mountain with literal lightning strikes within the player’s vicinity that can only reached by legit flying through a thunderstorm.
This channel is so wholesome and full of pokemon love.
You have to make part 2 and 3. This was 18 minutes long and it felt like a minute how much i enjoed it! Please make part 2!
As a Unova stan, please make part 2, I need it!!
Another city would be virbank, it reminds me of oakland, a city riddled with poverty, which often makes it seem gloomy and dark, it looks somewhat trashy but has a similar vibe being close to the water and all
Undella town reminds me of Alameda, its a small island off of oakland that has many houses that look kinds similar, it has a beach and you can see San Francisco from the coast as well as that whole side of the bay.
